Its quicker and easier to create a new coin because of the ownership and licensing issues with monocle, also who knows what state the blockchain is in and we don't need someone dumping massive amounts from the old blockchain.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Monocle isn't really *ours* to develop.
Not *ours* to develop, but *ours* to host a website for?
http://monocle.vertcoin.org/Also, on the github page it is licensed MIT, and just says "Copyright (c) 2009-2013 Bitcoin Developers Copyright (c) 2014 Monocle Developers".
https://github.com/monocle-project/monocle-legacyMaybe you can just ask erkmos if he will transfer the copyright? Even if not, IANAL, but I don't think the copyright would apply to anything really besides the logo, since the code is MIT licensed.
Isn't someone dumping massive amounts kind of the whole idea of price elasticity? I think implementing this trial on something where there's already some very large holders, which is much more akin to what it would be like implementing it for vert, makes more sense than starting with a fresh coin, not less. I do have a bunch of MON, but really, that isn't why I'm campaigning for it, I just think it would make a much better test case than starting something from scratch (unless you're gonna have a massive premine on the hypothetical fresh test coin that you hand out to a few people or something).
