1001  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to speed up btc transfers on: May 24, 2023, 08:17:40 PM
You choose the feerate of your choice when creating the transaction. On the mobile app, you cannot set the fees specifically, you can only choose from a range of low priority, medium or high, while on the desktop version you can choose the exact fee you wish to pay on the transactions.

If your enaked RBF - Replaced By Fee, you can bump the fee after you have sent the transaction, if it is delaying to be confirmed.
1002  Other / Meta / Re: Thread banners (SMF idea) on: May 24, 2023, 11:43:10 AM
A lot of applicants are just flat-out ignoring those requests (more the second than the first), either because they find them inconvenient, or because they're not aware of them. Undecided
The second request can be taken differently by different people. I can consider myself to be a prominent member on the forum, but that's relative to me, the campaign manager or someone else might not consider me to be based 😏 n their perception.

What do you guys think of a feature that would let the OP of a topic specify some "banner" text that would appear at the top and bottom of every page of that thread (maybe in a colored box, or something)?
Would be useful for important announcements to not be missed, particularly when there's a wave of applications which can bury the update. It would be great if it can have an expiry time, let's say the bump should dstay you for 24 hours or any specific amount of time.
1003  Other / Meta / Re: Weird description of the "Project Development" board on: May 23, 2023, 08:53:34 PM
Even though the description is not as precise as it should be, some of those threads need to be deleted as they are not fit to be in that board.

I wouldn't hold my breath for theymos to make a change to the description on any board.
1004  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When to buy - A look into the future of BTC !? on: May 23, 2023, 08:48:28 AM
Its called walltstreet cheat sheet and its telling you the future movement of BTC pretty exactly and many people just dont know about that thing
There's no cheat sheet or model that can predict the market, some can give educated guesses based on past events but nothing can accurately determine what happens next and you would be better off not trying to find out.

When you find out about Bitcoin and are ready to buy, go right at it. DCA so as not to have to go all in at once and you don't have to think about how other events affects bitcoin's price.
1005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The unforseen and likely occurrence in the Bitcoin space on: May 22, 2023, 08:55:09 PM
The major circumstance I can think of is the normalcy of centralized exchanges increasing and almost all bitcoins being held by those exchanges, acting as fronts for the government. The most extreme outcome there is we have a crackdown on unregulated bitcoins and they have to trade them in a sort of Bitcoin black market.
There should also be a increased demand for KYC requirements when trading.

How to curtail this would be by an increased usage of decentralized exchanges boosting liquidity on those P2P platforms and reducing the control of CEXes.

Another one is the scalability issue increasing and transferring bitcoins becoming slower and more expensive as mining rewards trickle down to zero. BIPs which improve scalability can potentially solve this issue along with off chain solutions.
1006  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Menbership- 3.5m registered only 56k members survived?..... Why? on: May 22, 2023, 08:44:58 PM
Lol. One way or another, (most) Newbies aren't welcomed. Luckily, there are some exceptions.
Those exemptions are proof that if a new user is genuinely interested in understanding Bitcoin and learning more, they would find this forum very entertaining and with a little more effort even enjoy their time here.
Also, those users quickly rank up and would not be considered new members any more.

I hope the forum becomes more welcoming that even users who are not as dedicated would be able to enjoy their time here.
1007  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can't central bankers just buy all the bitcoin and miners? on: May 22, 2023, 06:53:56 PM
bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency and cannot be owned by the government, we have miners distributed across the world in all countries holding their bitcoin reward after mining and can't sell to government except individuals through p2p for privacy sake,
The government is made up of individuals and they can buy Bitcoin as easily as anyone out there. Miners also sell their bitcoins through different channels.

aslo know that the entire bitcoin isn't mined completely at the same time, there's still more to solved over the years coming, so no single entity can accumulate the entire bitcoin, not even Microstrategy or anyone well known as giant whales.
The majority of bitcoins has already been mined.
1008  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Menbership- 3.5m registered only 56k members survived?..... Why? on: May 21, 2023, 01:46:04 PM
and spent lot of time searching for newbies with good posts which were not seen by senior users.
You don't need to specifically look for newbies who don't get merits, those that do get merits should easily be able to get more.

I also tend to drop my quality requirement as I go lower done the ranks, so a post by a newbie which I merit might not get any if it was posted by a senior or hero member. Simply making inquiries constructively and being consistent in replying to your thread responses is enough to get a merit for a newbie.
1009  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Menbership- 3.5m registered only 56k members survived?..... Why? on: May 21, 2023, 12:44:36 PM
unfriendly environment for Newbies/users ?

DT members oppression ? ( so much red than green these days)

The merit system (high demands for quality) ?

The moderation/rules ( using the ban button more often) ?

Low Bitcoin adoption ?
• An unfriendly environment is the top reason for this that I've noticed. Newbies are reprimanded for not being very knowledgeable of forum issues, even though that's what's expected of newer members and if they do try to gain a bit of information before joining, they are suspected of being alts.

• The merit system is also a barrier cause newer members see their time here to be unproductive as the bar for progress keeps getting higher, and the chances of your quality post being seen (outside certain boards) keeps dropping. There are fewer members sharing merits around these days.
This issue could be helped with more merit sources being added to ensure quality posts gets rewarded.

• DT oppression is relative and should not be much of an issue to newer members who have no reputation yet, except they planned to be scammers of trolls.
1010  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Forum statistics out of date? on: May 21, 2023, 11:42:47 AM
But I realised that the last statistics on the various number of post per month stopped on November 2017, any reason why?
Maintaining forum stats after the merit system became difficult for the admins, hence user stats as well as most general forum stats were no longer updated. As posted above, there are forum users tracking some stats of members, you can check their websites to follow them.

Also the most users online are brand new member's with no post is that normal?
Bot accounts.
1011  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NEWBIE WANTING TO LEARN TO FLY 🕊️ on: May 20, 2023, 07:16:21 PM
If you currently lack capital to invest, you can learn a digital skill which puts you in a position to get paid in Bitcoin. You grow your portfolio through regular purchases and get an alternate means of earning an income. But if I'm being honest, earnun to get paid in Bitcoin required time and attention, and sometimes capital to pay for the skill set.

As a new person that wants to make it in crypto, what safety guidelines and advices can you give to see him/her to success with minimal risks?
• Learn the basics,
• Do not rush into anything,
• Understand how to secure your wallets,
• Also understand that Bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme,
• Stick to Bitcoin if you're looking for stability.
1012  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are we expecting from now until Bitcoin halving? on: May 17, 2023, 08:09:59 PM
I am counting down the months now looking forward to my first bull run next year and curious.
A halving does not guarantee a bullrun that same year and historically a bullrun does not happen that same year.
• 2016 halving - 2017 bullrun.
• 2020 halving - 2021 bullrun.
We would be looking towards early 2025 for the next solid rally, except if we have a change in how the Bitcoin cycle works which would not be a surprise.

Are we expecting any more major crashes or should the markets start steadily rising in a few months or so or will that not happen till the end of 2023?
There should be some crashes between now and the next bullrun, but these are just predictions and the market reacts the way it wants.
I would advice you don't think too much about the price and just focus on the long term ROI.
1013  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Overcoming my fear of bitcoin and online businesses on: May 17, 2023, 07:59:16 PM
Number 1 : The first is I don't have to continue in the shadow of my fear and continue to run away from it. Fear is in the mind and no where else. I have to confront my mind to tackle this. As I'm doing this I also encourage anyone having fear of anything to confront it.
You don't have to lose your fear, fear and skepticism are what keeps us away from making wrong choices. Always be doubtful of any venture which is presented to you cause it very likely is a scam.
By confronting your fear, you do your diligent research and try to convince yourself that this is not a scam.

Any more advice by members on how to increase my confidence level and learning will be humbly received by me.
Use the search option effectively, all the information you seek is available on the forum which is a repertoire for Bitcoin knowledge.
Also, this is an anonymous online forum, feel free to ask questions and discuss as freely as you wish to, and grow a thick skin to take criticisms and a bit of trolling.
1014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: May 16, 2023, 08:38:14 PM
Inter Milan have taken the lead on the night and has extended their lead in the tie to 3-0, game over at this point.

Simeone Inzaghi can now look forward to a final between either of Real Madrid or Man. City where they would be the obvious underdogs, but should not be written off. A final is always going to be anyone's game.

Inter have turned on the style a bit now and are looking to extend their league.
1015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: There is something wrong with understanding Bitcoin on: May 16, 2023, 08:31:38 PM
The birth of Bitcoin, which is known as crypto in the digital era, can be used as a new type of investment in an effort to protect the value of fiat currency which can change or even be worthless.
Bitcoin is a type of cryptocurrency, making crypto an umbrella name for blockchain digital assets, not a different name for Bitcoin.
Also, Bitcoin does not protect the value of dust currency, it protects the value of your money. If you buy Bitcoin, that's your definition of money and it is resistant to inflation, it does not help stop inflation in fiat.

Those who understand Bitcoin, including its volatility and choose to invest in Bitcoin, are very easy to panic about the price, even though Bitcoin has been proven to be a future investment choice.
Anyone with understanding of Bitcoin and how volatility works would not panic when the price drops. Those who lack the knowledge of the basics and are only into it for a quick profit would.
1016  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHAT OPPORTUNITIES DOES CRYPTOCURRENCY AND BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY OFFER? on: May 16, 2023, 08:07:18 PM
What skills can one acquire in relation to blockchain technology that is highly sort after? Armed with those skill, you have any idea of where one can be hired for such skill?
• Block chain developer; this involves relevant skills in building blockchains and maintaining then and generating tokens on different chains,
• Trading,
• Technical writing on blockchain technology,
• Coding skills to build blockchain related websites

Passive means of earning is investing. Staking works in altcoins but it's a risky means of trying to earn a profit which likely ends in a loss.
1017  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am confused !!!! on: May 15, 2023, 08:18:48 AM
apart from bitcoin,do you think that there is a high possibilities of making profit from other altcoins.
Yes there is, there is also a higher possibility of incurring losses.

Also which wallet do you advise a newbie like me to use to store my coins. Are exchanges wallet an open source wallet. How can I differentiate an open source wallet from a close source wallet.
• Non custodian, open source wallets are the best choice. Electrum is a very safe and popular option.
• No, exchange wallets are not open source, cause centralized exchanges are usually closed source websites.
• Open source wallets have publicly verifiable code which can be seen on their GitHub, this should be regularly updated to the latest version of the software. Closed source don't have open codes and no one knows what they do behind the scene.
1018  Economy / Economics / Re: Biden administration announces move to fight 'organic fraud' on: May 15, 2023, 06:57:33 AM
Eventually, 100% organic farming will become impossible.
In some parts of the world. Genetically modified agriculture is not a global issue as yet as there are many countries with enough arable land to feed their population. I've visited many places where they do not have to state that the food sold are organic cause that's the only ones available.
In contrast these countries are either developing or underdeveloped, as infrastructure and innovation are not yet close to it's highest standards it leaves enough room for agricultural produce to be grown.

With years these places could have a demand for GMOs but they are many decades away from going 100% inorganic.
1019  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is importance of old bitcoins that woke up and moved in 2023? on: May 15, 2023, 06:29:35 AM
I read some discussions that those old bitcoin movements can create fear on the market. People think those old bitcoins can be dumped on the market and will cause a price fall.
News outlets try to sell their articles by making them as sensational as possible, this involves creating links and backstories which would be a bit more attractive to the average reader along with a click bait headline.

Bitcoins being moved from one wallet to the other, from wallet to exchange or the other way around should not be a topic of discussion, but the media would use a headline which highlights that a long term holder has finally lost faith in bitccoin and is ready to sell their bags, with maybe a question if we would see Satoshi's stash move anytime soon.

I don't think those old bitcoins are enough to dump the market. Those coins and movements only cause uncertainty and affect people with weak mentality.
They don't even cause uncertainty, such discussions only last for a few hours or at most a day before it's no longer a topic.
1020  Economy / Economics / Re: Bravo: Ron DeSantis bans CBDCs on: May 14, 2023, 07:37:01 PM
I personally don't have any issue with CBDCs except for abuse, if used right it can help the financial system of any country but the abuse of it by a country like China is what is of concern to me.
Be rest assured different countries would abuse any system which allows them to. China is usually the most talked about when it comes to dictatorship but almost every country experience such issues as their governments look to gain more control.
CBDCs allows the financial sector to be completely transparent to the authorities and can very easily be manipulated.

In the long run I think the adoption of CBDCs would not much affect Bitcoin or privacy. It is inevitable, but Bitcoin does notblose capital to it imo.
