1261  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Network of scam sites (help me ban all domain) on: February 05, 2023, 11:41:25 AM
Until the moment they get removed, the scammers have made 5 more clones. It's an unequal fight.
Google also doesn't care much.

The way we have found here was to block all the scammers and phishing sites for ourselves, like, for example, in this older topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5178198.0

1262  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Roqqu login problem on: February 05, 2023, 11:24:33 AM
I'm having trouble logging into my roqqu wallet using the right email address and password.

Is anyone else having the same problem?

What is the issue, and how should I proceed?

I've never heard of this wallet before, but a google search for is roqqu wallet scam looks ... bad.
Also I went to their website and the fact that they show a bitcoin price that's not real... is yet another warning.

People here cannot be of much help in logging in to a private business' platform. You can try your luck with the bottom-right support icon.
But be very careful and no longer deposit money there, no matter what reasons they may give you. There's a good chance you'll lose them all.
1263  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Suggest me an exchanger ? on: February 05, 2023, 11:11:50 AM
Acually I am making a long-term strategy for 10 years where I will invest 10 dollar worth of Bitcoin in every week. That's why I need to find a exchanger where withdrawal fee is close to 0  Roll Eyes .
I have already passed two weeks in Binance. But I wanna change those fund from them to a decentralised wallet for more security. And since I have to withdraw a lot times so that I need an exchanger with the lowest withdrawal fee. Smiley

Withdrawing 10$ like amounts from centralized exchanges it's not worth it, unless you're doing it on LN. Holding for half a year and withdrawing 250$ at once may make more sense[***]
For such low amounts you may:
1*. Find even people on the forum sell you such low amounts.
2**. Find your way to a DEX (see https://kycnot.me/ for example, it has a nice list, although many of them don't accept fiat, but it's easy to find what you need)
3. Go for reputable OTC exchanges. The price may not be as nice as on a CEX, but it may contain all the fees, including the withdrawal (of course, read all the info available).

* Beware, there may be trust issues. Use escrow.
** There's a learning curve for using DEX and selecting trade partners that won't scam you. Even a hones DEX can have dishonest traders, but if you are careful and not rush it, and learn how to do it right, you should be fine.

---
[***] Sorry, I've first read 10$/month, hence this late edit.
1264  Economy / Reputation / Re: My honest two questions to Royse777. on: February 05, 2023, 10:58:51 AM
The problem can be seen as a complicated one or can be seen as no problem. I think that both approaches are incorrect.

As somebody said, neutral tag (should) bear no meaning. It's not negative tag. But.. But there can still be problems.
Neutral tag for spamming should be a warning exactly for bounty managers. Of course, a bounty manager can accept even a spammer and not count (and even report!) the spam posts; this could even act as a lesson.
Also some write neutral tags in the way they're clearly negative ones; those may be seen as negative.

Then somebody also rightly said that tags are difficult to remove and I agree. I had a neutral tag many years ago from the mighty Vod. It took me years until he got indeed convinced I should not be tagged, even with neutral.
And tags can no longer bear meaning. A Jr. Member can be easily shitposting because of his lack of knowledge (one has to have a certain level of knowledge to understand how little he knows), and he may have become a decent poster by reaching Sr. Member level. Still, he may have a neutral tag.

I don't say it's the case, I came with hypothetical cases.
All I say that it's not OK to generalize. Every single case (user, manager, campaign) can be different.

I also don't say Royse did good or bad. I think that the measure of all this should be the quality of posts in his campaign(s). If a spammer is allowed to spam, then yes, the complaints are more legitimate. But until then, all this is hypothetical at best.
1265  Economy / Services / Re: Utopia P2P Ecosystem 💎 | Review Campaign 🔎| Participate Now! on: February 04, 2023, 12:35:58 PM
My experience and thoughts about Utopia Ecosystem

Website
Utopia website is not bad. A bit Matrix-like as fonts and color scheme, but it’s OK. The URL is short, which is nice, but a bit too short, one can easily forget it.

The currencies page contains a fair number of exchanges, but sadly for an anonymous coin,  all seem to need registration (including Crypton Exchange which I expected it’s somehow Utopia’s exchange).

The merchants area is somewhat crowded, which is great, just may need arranging better those entries.  I mean that it’s impressive to see such a number of merchants, but since their number should grow, it will become even more crowded – from categories to merchant descriptions. The categories always take that vast space and… I would not expect people go page by page, maybe it won’t hurt to implemet it maybe like Twitter does and/or give detailed information only where needed.

For downloading the app all major OS are covered. If I insist to be picky I’d say that portable versions would be nice too. I’ve installed it to a Windows 10 system and to a Linux Mint. This will allow me play around a little more.

Utopia application
First contact
Shortly: both impressive and overwhelming

The welcome screen is a mix of welcome information and initial setup, it can be confusing. Actually the whole application, while it’s impressively big and covering a lot of areas, it can be overwelming for newcomers. I recommend considering 2 modes – simple and advanced mode – with the simple mode showing much less menu entries, tabs and parts/information. I’ve worked with 1000s of programs, still Utopia was for me both impressing and crowded/overwelming at the first contact. Because of this the ideas I’ll write down may also not be greatly structured.

Data Traffic
While running Utopia app, even if I’m completely synchronized, there’s constant data traffic. Even more, if I want to switch to low traffic mode, the dialog tells my anonymity level will decrease (plus, in the way it’s written, a newbie will be scared of doing that if he will ever find out the setting). So one question is: now, with Utopia being rather young, I see a constant 300-500 KB/s, will this increase significantly if Utopia will have 1000s of more nodes, or will at least remain in this kind of limits?
I’ve given a chance to low traffic mode too for a while and the traffic was much nicer. And the (chat) messages were still realyed instantly.

Start with Windows
It’s nice to have Utopia starting with the computer since it always has to sync data, get messages and mails and so on, but … I’m not sure what is the point of the “remember me” check is it asks me for password on each startup. Or is it a bug? Even more, if one is not logged into (auto-started) Utopia all day, at the end the Windows shutdown will complain about it (because it doesn’t end gracefully).

Chat, messaging, games
I’ve made myself two accounts on two systems (the main on Win10 and then a secondary on Linux Mint). It’s interesting (in a good way) that friend requests must be accepted. However, there’s something that doesn’t make much sense, unless I’m missing something: chat and mail seem to work on the same principle (only to accepted friends), .. so why does Utopia have both?! Is it just for user preference (mails can become more organized)? I find this redundant.

In the chat it may be useful to add an extra space at the end of smilies to avoid the situation the second simile looks broken.

I’ve played Chess (with myself). Nice feature to add the game! One thing I’ve noticed was that at least once a move (fully done) was not shown on the opponent’s screen until he tried to make himself the new move. I guess it’s a small glitch, still, it worth telling.

uWallet
The money operations were fast and straightforward to make. I really liked this wallet.

uWallet : uWallet
I find it somewhat redundant to have two columns for pretty much the same job, but that’s me (in some cases the second column does actually have a good use). At least then the coin of choice could span on top of both. But, again, maybe it’s only me.

It’s nice to be able to send transactions directly to friends by selecting them by name. This is a great newbie-friendly feature!
I’ve seen that I cannot send for example .5 CRP, I must enter 0.5; not a real problem, but it can be improved.
If you want to make it even more newbie friendly you may want to add a bit more info about the network fee at transactions, so they don’t get scared by “The payment amount exceeds your balance” red message.

The transactions went out fast and I was able to send back also instantly (are there no confirmations?!). It worth mentioning that they went out instantly even on Low Traffic Mode.

uWallet : Crypto Card
Since I had only 5 CRP at all I didn’t play with the Crypto Card feature, since it would cost 3 CRP and I would have been using it maybe twice.

By my understanding it’s sort of virtual card equivalent on the Utopia network, working with CRP, but hiding your real address. Interesting!

Request cryptons
This was the reason I wanted to make the Crypto Card for: it seems that I can make a bill and request CRP only from a card (why that? It should not matter what is the bill paid with..).

I’ve found something else of interest here. “View exchanges list” sends us (in a new clearnet browser) to the uTalk forum and not the Exchanges on the main website. Is it intentional? I don’t know.

uWallet : Network fee
I’ve found it buried under “Treasury data” Smiley
The fees are tiny, especially since CRP is also small value for now.

uWallet : Swap and uVoucher
Interestingly some of the swaps were slower (maybe 1 minute), although the price was worse than what I’ve seen at exchanges. I’ve got spoiled with too many instant things. It’s OK, it’s not actually slow.

I’ve made UUSD uVoucher. It was 100% straightforward to create it. Also 100% straightforward to activate it.

uWallet : Shop
This opens the merchants page in default browser, on the clearnet. Is that OK? I guess it depends from person to person, but for a privacy oriented platform this may need a bit of improvement (at least asking/telling the user what’s going to happen).
I’ve already said my opinions on merchant pages, I’ll only add that I’ve found one (odin) with the preview image telling “Sorry, you have been blocked” and (expectedly) not working.

Buying goods/services with Utopia coins
I’ve chosen something cheap to buy in order to see how this works. The merchants page gave some quick instructions – basically to select Perfect Money. And yes, in a subsequent step, CRP and UUSD were available for payment.

When I’ve gave the OK, a countdown timer has started (from 15 minutes, I think), plenty of time to send the money.

Right after my CRP transaction was sent, the countdown timer stopped, telling “Status: Confirming”. That took a bit longer and my guess is that there the CRPs were converted to USD for the merchant. But it was smooth, it went on, the merchant was happy and sent me the e-mail with the service details I’ve bought.

Conclusions
Utopia ecosystem is impressively rich in features and works very good. Some small improvements could be needed here and there, but nothing really big.
It may worth telling those very concerned about their privacy that the system sometimes sends them onto clearnet browser.
The trick of going trough PerfectMoney ensures the ecosystem’s coins can be spent at a pretty impressive list of merchants.

I only played with the settings for the subtitles' language.
1267  Economy / Economics / Re: I don't see this changing anytime soon on: February 03, 2023, 07:55:20 PM
Am I evil for wanting to see CEX go or at least become less important?

You are not evil. But unfortunately I don't think that this will (ever!) happen. I have a feeling that sooner or later the CEX will be bought or replaced by our "beloved friends", the banks themselves.
Most people are driven by greed, not by the desire to get free from the system...
1268  Other / Meta / Re: QR Code Forum Avatars? on: February 03, 2023, 07:38:57 PM
I know this could open a whole new can of worms, but I think we should be ready for this, since QR code adoption is wide spreading everywhere.

QR is indeed getting traction around the world, but in order to get somebody interested into scanning a QR code, ... you will most probably need something more / something that attracts the eyes, else people will ignore it.
Even more, on a privacy conscious forum like this, where people are careful about anything that could steal their coins.. it's even more difficult.
And I will add that if we go on this path, too many people will have too similar avatars and the not-so-technical people may not even notice there are differences and the information one avatar holds is probably different from the information of the next avatar.

So as I see it now, the idea has quite some obstacles...

1270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Great 6-part Bitcoin documentary from 2021📺📽 on: February 03, 2023, 07:25:18 PM
The mega folder is dead (as usual). Did anyone download the documentary, and can re-upload it?

It can be seen on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ETcLj5jBy4

It's by default with French subtitles, but if you play with the settings (gearwheel icon) you can select that the subtitles get auto-translated on the fly into English or the language of choice. It's clearly not optimal, but it can be a solution.
1271  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2023-01-29] New York State Takes a Step Toward Cryptocurrency Adoption on: February 03, 2023, 06:51:09 PM
Will be interesting to see if it passes and what if anything municipalities will do.

I had the impression that NY state was pretty harsh with crypto until now. So this change is... somewhat surprising for me.
However, as long as it didn't pass yet, .. I won't get my expectations too high. The hopes, yes, but not the expectations.
...And only afterwards we will see if this can set a trend or not. One step at a time, since we're still early.
1272  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: AnonPay: BTCPay Server plugin that accepts any crypto and converts it into BTC on: February 03, 2023, 06:45:26 PM
I would *think* that if I was doing something like this I would want to do my own exchanges. But, that is just me.

From what I've seen and understood there, this AnonPay is an app of Trocador, and this Trocador is an "exchange aggregator". So I guess that they earn from the exchanges they use (and what's sweeter than hassle free money?)
Their API docs tell that the chosen exchange can be found/seen, but it looks like it can be seen only for trades already done (see GET method trade). I didn't find any way the caller can pick the desired exchange.

Any suggestions or advice?

Step 1 should have been long ago (and like somebody quicker also said) : sign a message with one of your bitcoin addresses and post it into this thread in the same way others did.
Step 2 may be to try (from another browser maybe) to change your password via the mail address with https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=reminder

But I would wait for more ideas in case you find mine risky.
1275  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bye Bye Bear Market :) on: February 02, 2023, 12:22:05 PM
Yes, if there is something that we learn from history, is that we are still in the bear cycle even if we see this price increasing right now. I also think that this upward trend is for real, not a bear trap or something. Best case scenario is to top $30,000, and that will mean x2 of the lowest low.

And earlier I saw the price going above $24,000 and then we have some minor corrections to $23,800. Nevertheless this is just the first attempt, so I wouldn't be surprised to see second and third attempt before we surpassed $24,000 and then maintained it and go for the next big barrier of $25,000.

Yep, that's correct. The fact that I start to agree with OP doesn't means that "tomorrow" we'll touch again the last ATH, nor that there won't be corrections, no.
The only news is that going under 15500 is becoming unlikely from now on.
1276  Local / Altcoins (Monede Alternative) / Re: Discutie despre PI network on: February 02, 2023, 10:50:46 AM

1277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin hits 500 GB size hard disk data on: February 02, 2023, 10:43:11 AM
Depending on capacity of your external storage, you could try compress all files/folders into .rar or .7z file with maximum compression. I did quick experiment with blockchain data for Bitcoin Signet (similar with Bitcoin testnet) where ~798MB folder compressed into ~505MB .7z file.

The result isn't bad, but we know strong compression/decompression process require more CPU/RAM.

It's much more impressive than I expected. 7z is probably also more powerful than what was previously proposed, depending on the compression level of choice, still, I'm impressed.
Does the node need the entire blockchain "at hand" in order to validate transactions, or it has the UTXOs somewhere else? Because if it needs to continuously unpack old blocks then indeed the computing power spent probably not worth it. And if one wants to save space he can just use pruned node.
1278  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bye Bye Bear Market :) on: February 02, 2023, 09:05:39 AM
What I see now is that the party seems to have started too early and that's a bull trap if you asked me.

I've seen this theory more than once. Also I was not convinced we're out of bear market yet.
However, we've already had some attempts for correction/bring the price back down, rather weak and rather short lived. The upwards trend seems to be pretty powerful and I start to believe that OP was indeed right.
