1401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency vs. Fiat currency. on: February 28, 2020, 09:20:14 PM
Obviously I will side with bitcoin or crypto currency here. The problem though is that it is not that accepted in the country that I am living in so I still need an exchange to use it for payment or if I will be paying bills. For sure, people would pick crypto currency since this is a community or a forum for that but still, we don't have a choice but to still use fiats.
1402  Economy / Exchanges / Re: A new virus is attacking Google 2FA app on: February 28, 2020, 08:32:12 PM
No way. I have a lot of accounts with 2FA, almost all of my accounts have it. This is just alarming, never thought that it would be breached like that. Most of the sites offer this as a security, and if this happening a lot of accounts will be hacked so easily since that is the first thing you will put when you log in. I will be removing mine now and renew my passwords.

Wow, so you are a teacher, that's nice to hear. Have you talked to your co-teacher and told him/her that just because you also gamble it doesn't mean that you are an addicted person and it's not harming you so you are all good.
You don't even harm them, this problem I guess is everywhere and we're all affected by these people that doesn't know the whole story.

Yeah, this problem is already done since we talked to each other, we are all good now. That is the case though, I did not harm them but the perception of gamblers in our community is a bit of a rash one. That you are irresponsible, that you should not be a teacher if you are a gambler, that kind of perspective. I don't mind how other teachers look at me, my problem there is how would I talk that to my students since that would affect how they respect me as a teacher. There are those changes but after some time, well, time really heals, it went back to normal but me related to gambling will still be there. I even heard last week some students from the other class talk about me and they sing this song "Manok na Pula", well, if you are a Filipino, you know what this means.
I guess it's a taboo everywhere about gamblers. They aren't used to see a teacher that's also gambling that's probably the reason why unwanted words were thrown to you.
Well, what's important now is both of you are okay and the beef has been settled.

Yeah, we are all good but still, that will go down forever. Some students still see me as a gambler but they are treating me "cool" some of them also gamble, I taught them some skills but don't take the wrong idea. I am not encouraging them to gamble it is just that when we talk about it, I usually tell a story that they could learn. Another problem comes with the parents since people in our country are so fond of gossips and it can really affect your personal reputation since they will spread this gossip that is so far from the truth that I am even surprised by it.
1404  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Did gambling affected your personal reputation? on: February 27, 2020, 10:31:56 PM
And that's the start why people think that you do no good with your life because you have been spending it over and over again in gambling.
The reputation in your neighborhood will start to crumple and their look at you will become different after knowing that you've been into gambling.

That is so true. In my case, my co-teacher thought that I am gambling and ashamed me in front of my students. It is hard to deal with that since you already built your reputation for a long time but it will be taken down just by a single misunderstanding.

1405  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: February 27, 2020, 10:24:30 PM
If zion has the career most people expect, than it will be one of those games they replay as one older great versus a new up and coming great.  Zion definately looks good to this point.  He is already dominating the court at times and he really hasn't even gotten his feet wet yet.  Would love to see them make the playoffs just for the fun of it.

I really hope that he could live to that hype since we all know he started in the NBA with an injury, even T-Mac compared his injury to Zion's. It is not sever but it is a force that could affect his career. I really hope they could advance to playoffs so that he could experience the pressure in that kind of games where he realy needed to step up and carry his team up.
1406  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Blockchain Replace Banks? on: February 27, 2020, 09:09:34 PM
I think banks are controlled by Goverments, and Blockchain won't. If Goverments issued own cryptocurrency based on Blockchain, it would replace some bank functions but not all of them.

It is the opposite actually, Banks control the government. This differs in every country but mostly, it is the scenario. Some banks are semi independent but government wants to control it too. If they issued their own crypto currency, it will never replace any bank functions since the approval of it will also roll through the banks like what happened in India in the past about banning crypto currency. Blockchain will be centralized, public records can be available online which governments can review and assess and they can create laws, new rate of taxes and I can see some security flaws so this will never happen for now, that's for sure.

It doesn't mean the price is increasing at this point, it doesn't mean it is because of the epidemic that is happening. That is just like Pewdiepie getting back from uploading and the price is now falling, ooh, or is it?  Huh

Zion is a special player according to Lebron James.

LeBron James details why Zion Williamson is perfect for today’s NBA game

Quote
“The kid is special,” LeBron told Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. “In today’s game, where it’s a track race, it’s fast-paced, it’s high tempo, it fits his game perfectly. And the way they did play, it fits his game perfectly.”

I am so hyped by this matchup not because I want to support the other but because I want to watch how one of the greatest player play against a rising star of NBA and how would they react to one another since Lebron said that he never met Zion in the past. I also read this article and for me this is amazing. This game does prove that Zion has a long way to go, but I hope that he could live with the hype since a lot of first picks did not really live to the hype as a first pick.
1409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Leave gambling, if it destroys you. on: February 26, 2020, 10:29:57 PM
I am someone who engages in gambling occasionally and when I first gambled online I was just 18 years old. During the past one and half decades, gambling was more of an entertainment for me, as I lost more than what I won. But I never gambled more than what I could afford to lose. And as a result, my financial and mental health is perfectly fine now.  Grin

I think you had a good managing of your financial and mental health, you just need to keep it at that. In my case, I am addicted in the past and keep in getting better now. Its been years but I can't still distance myself from gambling but it is great since I can control myself now when I am gambling, though as I said, I still have that problem when I still need to distance myself from it.
1410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Did gambling affected your personal reputation? on: February 26, 2020, 09:16:29 PM
It only becomes bad in image if gambling doesn't give you benefit and it only takes away you a lot of things which makes your life miserable. And in my case, it's not happening so I'm still good and my reputation in my neighborhood doesn't really affect and coming up to that point.
And why it matters if we gamble to our neighborhood? do they give the money that we will spend in gambling? are we ruining their lives as we gamble, no we don't and they don't.
@passwordnow yeah right, sometimes it'll spread on the community that you spent all of your money just for gambling and it will ruin your reputation.
And that's the start why people think that you do no good with your life because you have been spending it over and over again in gambling.
The reputation in your neighborhood will start to crumple and their look at you will become different after knowing that you've been into gambling.

1411  Economy / Economics / Re: In the past where taxes were honoured ~ on: February 26, 2020, 02:27:09 PM
So what can be done to encourage everyone to pay their taxes is to reduce the tax rate to the practical level and use the collected tax amount to the people development not to your personal development. Cheesy

Well, we all know that the purpose of taxation is not just for the people development but for a lot of other things too like supporting the other powers of the state. It is true though that there are these politicians that take advantage but there are also these tax payers that do that too. Since most tax payers do the calculation of the tax they will be paying, isn't it favorable for them?
If all the tax money has been used for the development of people and country or any other good things then people will pay the right amount of tax by themselves but when government ask half of the hard earned money as form of tax then no one will be ready to give it.

Half? No, they will not be asking half of someone's income or profit. They may do some double taxation to some but they have their reasons, and they are not asking for half of it but just a percentage of it. Taxation is based on the people's ability to tax, you should always keep that in mind.
1412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TELLING THE TRUTH ABOUT BITCOIN on: February 25, 2020, 02:12:41 PM
This really depends on the people that asked about it. When my parents knew about this, they are really mad since they watched it on TV and people are being scammed because of crypto currencies. Despite their rage, I am just laughing and explain this to them. They are still mad but not right now since a lot of professionals here are also investing in it. Some of them also ask me what to do since they are just investing in bitcoin, I told them about other altcoins but I also warned them about diversifying their portfolio, its advantage and disadvantages and they are always busy so I suggested them not to do that much.
1413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin declined 3% as the coronavirus spread in italy on: February 25, 2020, 12:12:24 PM
It might be the reason, or maybe not. It may not be that far but Italy is one of the 10 countries that use bitcoin. 15.3 percent, well it might be lower or higher now, of bitcoin-accepting stores are in Italy.

https://coinidol.com/top-10-countries-using-bitcoin/

Though I agree that someone might just sell their bitcoins, another thing is that we all know the volatility of it. Bitcoin's price increases when the epidemic rises, I think it is just the same as that.
1414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Simpsons talks about Cryptocurrency on: February 23, 2020, 11:59:14 PM
If Matt Groening really knew who Satoshi is, I will not doubt him. This TV series predicted a lot of things and some people even labeled him as a time traveler. It is great that one of the best TV-series cartoons is talking about crypto currencies, but as far as I know, they are putting a lot of things that are connected to bitcoin. This picture is also a thing they did.
1415  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you gamble? on: February 23, 2020, 11:55:10 PM
Actually I used to gambled in my work place before but I stopped it because it makes me uncomfortable for the rest of the day especially if I lose money, lol.

I did try this one and my co-teachers really ashamed me in front of my students. It is not that I am gambling but I am just doing some bets to kill some time and I am so bored and that just happened. She did say sorry since she did not know what happened before that. After that, I did not think of ever opening them in school, my workplace, that is a bit of a trauma for me.
1416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you gamble? on: February 23, 2020, 11:24:30 PM
I used to be able to gamble all day.

This is quite interesting, I think I can't do this man, I admit that I could gamble everyday but with limited number of hours only, gambling all day is just like focusing on a certain job where you are expecting a pay afterwards, in gambling is will not happen unless you have special talent.

That is the same with me too. I could gamble every day but it doesn't mean that I am focussing on it, I am spending most of the time in a day in my workplace, that is the reason I can rarely go to casinos and only spend some of my time in my phone or my PC gambling. Sometimes I couldn't even do that with the activities to be done that is part of your work but can't do inside the workplace.
1417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Agree To Publicize Your Journey From Being Chronic Gambler on: February 23, 2020, 10:49:06 PM
I will, that is something that people should be aware of. I will be telling what happened with my life and how I turned that upsidedown. People should be aware that there is a way to stop your addiction and I will be an example to it.

1419  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin as a leading currency? on: February 23, 2020, 03:11:38 PM
well i think bitcoin is really a leading currency because it is use on so many countries. I believe that this year will be a great year for botcoin, many people believe that bitcoin will be the safest investment,  maybe in th enear future many more country will used bitcoin for good.

We never know what may happen all we know is that as the first crypto currency, it will continue to give a profit to its investors and users. It may not be the safest investment, it is still the most expensive crypto currency in the market.
1420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PEOPLE WILL NEVER STOP FALLING FOR SCAM on: February 23, 2020, 02:25:41 PM
People may never stop from falling for scams since scammers has always a new way or strategy to make their victims fall from it. They always have the different idea how to make people believe through their platforms and projects, that's why day by day many people are falling from their traps.

New way, yes but it has the same goal and thinks that we will fall into their project or investment that is so good to be true. You can feel a scam if you already know what a scam is if someone offered a too-good-to-be-true profit, you should think twice before you said yes and hand over your money.
