1441  Economy / Economics / Re: Why you should use spare money to invest on: May 16, 2023, 06:34:21 PM
Sometimes extensive research and FS are overkill if you know that the coin/token/project is just shit.
That's just the point! Sometimes I want to compel myself to believe that most people forcefully expose themselves to be scammed. Everyone has guts feeling that alerts us of something but truth remains that sometimes we want to ignore it and do the permissive, especially when our minds are already made up to do it. In trying to go ahead we conjure up all sorts of "what if". Frankly, there are projects with scam well written over them without anyone digging an inch into them in research as to whether they're genuine or not. Yet there are people who still invest in those projects. How such projects get those they scam is a wonder to me.
1442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most altcoins are fake (wakanda) on: May 16, 2023, 06:03:27 PM
The first Africa crypto project was established to steal people's money, when wakanda came out in towards July 2021 and did the burn in September
To start with, Wakanda isn't the first Africa project. There was Dalecoin even before I embraced crypto in 2017. There was also Zugacoin created by Sam Zuga, an African, in 2019 or 2020.

Quote
many people wasted their hard earn money to buy enough, I personally use $300 to buy wakanda which accumulate 2billion plus, but since then, wakanda never rise for once, only going down, my money is less than $10 remaining.
I saw through the smokescreen when the hype for it hit the media but I avoided it as my sixth sense told me something wasn't right. My guts were right. It was the same way I avoided the shitcoin, Zugacoin. It's not as if it's an African thing to have bad projects. It transverses all continents. There are scammers everywhere. BTW, don't sell off what is left. You never can tell if there are going to be novice investors who are definitely going to buy it during the forthcoming bull run in 2024/25

Quote
Please what is the aimed of those people doing fake crypto currency?
I believe this is a rhetorical question.
1443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Willing my bitcoin to my children on: May 16, 2023, 04:33:11 PM
if mistakenly I return to my maker...
😆 You acted like a typical Nigerian there and our way of running away from telling ourselves about death. What is someone mistakenly dying 😆.

Quote
...that means that my bitcoin will remain in my wallet till eternity, this gives me a nightmare, my kids are three and I want to have different wallet of bitcoin and WILL my bitcoin to them with the password of each of the wallet.
This is a big issue with cryptocurrency and I know a lot of this scenario has occured with many hodlers, even in this forum, with those who died intestate. I've heard some make laughable comments as to how they will make sure they reveal their crypto hidings to their loved ones or next of kins before they die as if anyone knows what date they will die. Those who loud the need for privacy are the worse hit on this because they hardly trust anyone with their crypto stuff and wouldn't want to divulge any. It's important to have our crypto hodlings documented somehow so they can be discovered when we pass on.
1444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on potential portfolio on: May 16, 2023, 01:49:58 PM
Eth $300
Matic $200
Ada $100
I like your chose of the three I selected from your post and I believe they will do well because of their peculiarity which will continue to make them be in popular demand. Don't be in a haste to dispose them even if they're dipping now. Be patient.

Optimism, SUI, Aptos, arbitrum and many more.
I think SUI is overrated. Though I've read and heard so much talk about it I wouldn't invest in it, at least not at its current price. With a total supply of 10 billion and at > $1, it's obvious it's over priced and will likely crash; crash even beyond redemption.
1445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PEPE AI Scamcoin ? on: May 16, 2023, 11:14:58 AM
why not invest in original pepe instead of this pepe copycat, i'd say they are better than this significantly.
You would've done well by supplying a link to the "original" Pepe on the CMC or so. That will enable those interested know easily what you're referring them to and where to go to. By the way, are you be chance referring to PEPE (Ordinals) as the main Pepe? I did check that and discovered to my dismay that the project doesn't have any social media handle, not even a common thing as a Telegram handle.
1446  Economy / Economics / Re: Why you should use spare money to invest on: May 16, 2023, 09:39:12 AM
is nice when you put in what can not put you sickbed or gives you hypertension, don't invest out of what you cannot withstand the loss.
Yes, it's good not to invest what can jeopardize our peace of mind or render us a financial wreck. The only reason this is sermonized is in case things go wrong as no one has a full grip of what happens in this industry. It's not as if it's always awry. Those who invest small, fearing they will be wrecked if things go sour should also not regret not investing more if things go well. No regrets in this industry. Whatever happens should be seen as a lesson and not as a moment of regret or get bloated with excitement.
1447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin IS an asset. Do you think it's bad? on: May 16, 2023, 07:47:09 AM
...but everyone was telling me that it will always fluctuate and it's just a method to earn money.
Anyone who sees Bitcoin more as an asset (I'm one), of course believes it will continue to fluctuate. It's the fluctuation that majorly gets the attention of people to invest in it. Anyone who argues otherwise aren't true to themselves.

Quote
What do you guys think about that? Do you think it's okay that we as a community treat Bitcoin as an asset and not as a technology that should be used to give people freedom from the banks?
It really doesn't matter what our decision is here on how to treat Bitcoin, the market takes care of that. Honestly, I think Bitcoin is both – asset and technology. Bitcoin is decentralized and can't be under the control of anyone.
1448  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you spend more-do you get more? on: May 15, 2023, 05:45:59 PM
There is an opinion that the more money you spend, the more you get in return, it is interesting to find out who really works in this direction.
The only place I think this can work is in the principle of sowing/giving. It's a biblical principle. Even in this principle, where one gives or sows is also important because not all "soil" is fertile. A man who cheerfully gives in the right direction or place will receive bountifully. This doesn't apply to giving foolishly. The way it works is that one spends on others who later return same good gesture in bigger measure to one.
1449  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How we go deal with police brutality for our country on: May 15, 2023, 04:24:58 PM
The thing move me to intervene for the matter before them drive off, but who I be, dem go end up arresting me join the guy, ๎๎and if I no get person wey go bring money to bail me, my name go be sorry. Na fear make me no record them, because them dey see me, assuming say I record, them go intimidate me, collect my phone to hide evidence and arrest me
 I don see am happen well well. We need serious police reform for this Nigeria.
The harassment don too much now for Naija. E come be like sey those police officers don forget wetin happen during endsars. The next time wey dis thing go happen e fit to worse pass endsars wan wey happen for 2020 because frustration and hunger don wet ground now. Anoda thing be sey e good as you nor begin record those police guy brutalizing that young man as dem don see you already otherwise na to seize your phone and assault you remain. Una see as Seun Kuti take deal with dat police guy yesterday and how Nigerians rally support for the poor police guy. Tomorrow now, na the same police guy go assault civilians.
1450  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC 100K FOR 2024 ! on: May 15, 2023, 02:22:25 PM
65K Last year record price ever !
Ok, Dr.Bitcoin_Strange has corrected that. It was actually in 2021, not last year.

Quote
I think this year it might be full 100K Final bullrun for the coin.
Nah, I don't see Bitcoin surpassing its present ATH of $68k+ let alone hitting $100k this year. It will indeed be a huge miracle if that ever happens. The >$100k will happen after halving in 2024/25.

Have we all tried to reason the possibility of, if bitcoin finds its way below $80k price or above $120k?
Whatever high-high we get in 2025 should form the new ATH and with assurance birthed from experience, I know it won't be anything around $80k. We should be talking about a figure that's more than double of the last ATH.
1451  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you Spending Money the Wrong Way in Pursuit of Happiness? on: May 15, 2023, 12:11:46 PM

Those are exceptions, I've seen a doctor who doesn't charge money for the treatment. He just request give what they are willing to pay. If they don't have money they can leave.
I ain't saying that good natured people don't exist. Of course they do, though in minute proportion to the world population. What I'm saying is that I don't think anyone will want to make money only to concentrate spending it on others and neglect themselves. How does that work?

The doctor you mentioned who didn't have the habit of making his fees/bills a priority, it didn't mean he didn't spend on himself. For all we know, he might even have got regular aids from charitable organizations that offset medical bills for indigent patients.
1452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My experience with memorizing seed phrases on: May 15, 2023, 11:57:45 AM
~snipped~
Although there are some people who had family but can still devote out time to memorize seed phrase, meaning if they're not that attached with their families or possibly they live elsewhere without having pressure from their children they can still do that but isn't that encouraging for one to memorize anything up there because whatever that affects the brain all the stress may turned out to be worthless.
I know we're just making discussions around family life, away from the kernel of discussion, I had to put that hypothetical area of your comment in bold to highlight something. The point of my concern there is this – married people with children still get burdened by parental responsibility whether their children are physically present with them or not. Only those who aren't responsible see their absence from their children as relief. Family life isn't piece meal. However, I still reason with the perspective you've shared.
1453  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] BestChange Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ on: May 15, 2023, 10:59:20 AM
I remember in the past that their wallet did not support bc1 while most wallets was supporting those addresses.
I think it will be appropriate at a time like this for BestChange to mandate its signature participants to have a wallet change to SegWit. I'm all for anything that will make this Blockchain nightmare go away.
1454  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to know a good bitcoin investors! on: May 15, 2023, 10:52:24 AM
How do you know a good investors?
* they're futuristic
* they're planners
* they're financial manager
* they're risk managers
* they're projected
With all that you've listed, one would quickly conclude that you aren't new to this industry though you're a newbie here, except you lifted this from somewhere. Otherwise, I want to acknowledge that you made salient points here with that list.

Please have a rethink and simply put that;
A good bitcoin investor is one who buys low and sell high
That attribute will properly fit a trader than an investor. Those buying now, not minding the entry levels, and hodling for the halving next year are the investors.
1455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My experience with memorizing seed phrases on: May 15, 2023, 08:05:44 AM
but eventually I started slipping and forgetting to do it, especially if I was busy with something.
It was obvious you had enough idle time then and that was why you could attempt it. Otherwise, I would think it's a fruitless venture trying to memorize seed phrases. I hardly take note of what constitutes my seed phrases once I've them written out on paper. I'm not that paranoid about stuff like that because I believe one can't be too careful in life. I've seen those who guarded theirs meticulously but still misplaced them or got hacked.

What we need is time to create out chance in memorizing seed phrase maybe it could be more easier for a single man or lady with no family load or problems surrounding them.
Now, you speak from experience! You didn't lie on this. Family distractions are even enough to  discourage one from going into another unsolicited brain tasking adventure in the first place when paper work can easily save the day.
1456  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 2024 halving less than 1 year away on: May 15, 2023, 06:06:03 AM
What I want to see in the next cycle, after halving, is how far the peak goes.
I think it will go further than $120k, considering how well its 2021 ATH went vis-a-vis what it was in 2017 bull run.

Quote
This cycle has been the most disappointing in terms of returns, failing all forecasts that were made in 2021.
In my books, I think it did well. We didn't even stay in the bear region like we did after the bull run of 2017. Post 2017 was hellish for Bitcoin and its hodlers as it did cause a great scare for many, plummeting to $3,200 from a height of $18k+ and that lingered for over two years.

Quote
The only good thing I see is that volatility tends to decrease as well.
Sadly, I think the less volatility even makes it less exciting for many; especially those who trade it.
1457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You are still very early on: May 14, 2023, 11:46:29 PM
To be fair most of people are looking to get rich quick by flipping their coin, that's why they're prefer to gamble on shitcoins rather than looking for the safest long term investment e.g. Bitcoin. There's always a person who can make money through shitcoins, but it's just like picking a needle in the haystacks, the chance is very low.
You can't genuinely say you blame them, can you? Pre-2017, and even in 2017, so many people got that lucky and made piles of money from investing in alts than they did in Bitcoin. Virtually every altcoin mooned in late 2017 to the first quarters of 2018 before so many of them crashed to death. That was my first experience and I saw first hand what a bull rally was like. I got deceived thinking every altcoin was worth investing in and that hit me very hard later. I lost money like many greenhorns then. Many of us learnt that lesson and moved on. Bitcoin remains the surest long term investment. It's slow and steady with less risk than altcoin investments.
1458  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you Spending Money the Wrong Way in Pursuit of Happiness? on: May 14, 2023, 11:31:48 PM
  • use your money to benefit others rather than yourself
I don't believe this. Perhaps you didn't word it properly. I think it should've been better worded as – Use your money to benefit others rather than AND yourself. Who makes money for others? I don't think there's anyone who does that. Even the philanthropists we know, they first made money for themselves before spreading out to help others.
1459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you like Meme Coins ? on: May 14, 2023, 06:12:30 PM
Back in 2017 i don't know what is memecoin but i know about dogecoin. a crypto i used to send crypto to another exchange.
Honestly, I don't know why Dogecoin has still remained undervalued to this point and day. Why aren't people using it for payment when they've its option for payment. On the few occasions I had transacted using it, it was stress free and transaction speed was great. Look at what those of us utilizing Bitcoin for transaction have been passing through over a week now, with so many transactions still pending. This delayed transactions aren't doing Bitcoin advocacy any good at all. It will discourage many from investing in it if it continues.
1460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty hunter is considered as investors with a big patience. on: May 14, 2023, 03:58:29 PM
The question is – Who considers bounty hunters as investors? To the best of my knowledge as someone who was once a firm believer in bounty hunting, it's obvious that project teams don't have the same conceptual belief as you do on this. I say this because if a business or project considered anyone an investor they would treat them well. Project teams (a very good number of them) don't treat bounty hunters well. They renege on even sending the bounty rewards as promised once campaigns are over. I'm a victim of that and I know a good number of users here must've tasted that bitter pill too.
