1481  Economy / Economics / Re: Would blockchain technologies continue Its development without cryptocurrency? on: September 07, 2018, 04:01:14 PM
As we all know chain block technologies are the foundation of the cryptocurrency and chain block technologies can develop without the cryptocurrency.

Is this possible happen in the future? If so, how?
Without cryptocurrency I don’t really see any use for blockchain. Blockchain is meant to run alongside cryptocurrencies and they are meant for cryptocurrency, without cryptocurrency there will be no use for blockchain unless maybe they will find something else to do with it, but I don’t see any useful thing that they can create on the blockchain which is not cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.

I kinda agree with this and I'm surprised this hasn't come up sooner in this thread.
Blockchain without the cryptocurrency aspect could exist, sure, but what's interesting about that.

You'd just have a public ledger, but no incentives for processing transactions. It's cryptocurrency together with a blockchain what makes it revolutionary.
1482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to choose a good casino among the many others? on: September 07, 2018, 12:31:30 PM
The best choice is to play with consumer protection service inclusive, in case something will happen and as everyone can read in the forums a lot of things happen! Wink

Just in case someone actually believes you, I'd like to point out that your 'service' doesn't provide any value to anyone.
I really don't know why you keep trying, since no one who is sound of mind would ever send money to you.
1483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gold backed cryptocurrencies on: September 07, 2018, 11:27:25 AM
All of this reminds me so much of E-gold, if anyone still remembers that.
The only difference is that now it's in the form of a cryptocurrency.

I personally don't really see the need for having a cryptocurrency that's backed by gold, as rdny says, seems like it would be difficult to prove ownership of their gold holdings
1484  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Will u be interested in new "crypto-ebay"? on: September 07, 2018, 10:42:34 AM
Hi, everybody.
I have an idea to create a new service: crypto marketplace for goods, where as well as on ebay you can buy and sell goods for cryptocurrency. Users will be able to conduct transactions using smart-contracts.
What do you think about this idea?

I've already seen several platforms like that. https://neverfiat.com/ is just one of them
So there is market for such a service, how big this market is though I don't know. The only people who will use it are the ones who have some crypto already.

The market is pretty small I think, I've seen many of these sorts of websites come and go after running for a year or so.
Take Openbazaar for example, their sales figures are really nothing to write home about.

Okay, with Openbazaar people need to actually install an app, so that's an additional action that many people aren't willing to take.
Not that e-bay like websites for crypto are doing any better though, just look at some of the listings on these websites.

https://forra.io/ (not launched yet)
https://bitify.com/  -- crap listings
https://itcoinbay.com/ -- LOL, their featured listings don't even have any bids
1485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin, blockchain, technology that does miracles on: September 07, 2018, 10:28:40 AM
This must be said that many illegal jobs which are crimes in most of the world has become easy to do because of Bitcoin, in fact
This is one of the disadvantages of this electronic currency, another disadvantage is the fact that you or anyone else can do
Money laundering without fearing of the law, you can blackmail and no one can follow your transactions back to you. all of this

Has it really become easier to launder money because of Bitcoin? I would assume that criminal organizations usually already have highly effective practices in place to launder their money.
Then there's the fact that Bitcoin is in essence a public ledger. Sure, you can somewhat cover up your tracks by using mixers, but one small mistake can lead law enforcement straight to you.

If you're laundering your money with Bitcoin without fearing the law, you're probably going to get caught eventually.
1486  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I just discovered i have good talent on: September 07, 2018, 10:00:11 AM
This thread was a complete waste of time. Sadly, I'm not going to get back the 10 minutes I've spent reading it.

What are you exactly offering here? Your vast and endless knowledge about whether a project is going to fail or not?
Do you have any proof of your knowledge? I dunno, maybe a LinkedIn Page where you have past work experience listed or something like that?

What are you charging for this 'service'?

You're a so called 'marketing expert', yet you can't write proper sentences in English...

All I see is lots of talk and little substance.
1487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop using words "Bitcoin", "Crypto", "Blockchain" interchangeably. on: September 06, 2018, 02:58:51 PM
Look I usually get annoyed by that too, but you just have to take into account that some people just don't know enough about it to use those terms correctly.
I usually don't bother correcting people when they use one of those terms wrong in a conversation. It just makes you an annoying person to them, if you do it repeatedly.

When journalists do it, I would take a little bit more offense though, there's just no excuse for insufficient research before publishing an article.

So, sure, educate people, but don't do it in a way that you're constantly correcting regular people who just have a basic interest in crypto.
Being a know-it-all usually isn't appreciated too much and you'll put the whole crypto community in a bad light.
1488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Martingale and Roulette on: September 06, 2018, 02:42:38 PM
--snip--

The total is exactly 137,438,953,471 satoshis (~1,374.39BTC) to recover from 36 loss streak. As I'm typing this, the value of that is $9,438,000. It seems like you can do a lot more with that amount of money and someone who's in possession of that amount of money can surely afford a private mentor or tutor which can teach him where to use the money either invest in business or simply becoming a better spender so he doesn't lose that amount of money over purchases that aren't so practical.

As you can see, we came up with these huge numbers because the growth in your bet in martingale method is exponential. At first, it doesn't seem much. But as the losing streak is increasing, your bet just to earn back your losses and that additional 1 satoshi "profit" is becoming more and more ridiculous. Gambling sites are known to have tremendous number for losing streaks in x2 multiplier and it's the reason why martingale never really worked in the long run.

To put an end to your desire of using the technique martingale, think about this. 50k sats per day is 0.0005BTC per day which is $3.43. Is $9,438,000 worth risking for $3.43 a day? Smiley And since the people who wants to gamble with a "mathematical formula" likes to treat gambling as a business, you're obviously a bad business man.

Indeed, you'd be far better off just investing that amount of Bitcoin in a casino, than to use martingale.
Actually, you can do just about anything and it'll probably be way less risky.

Using martingale can be fun sometimes, but I really hate it when people portray it as some sort of guaranteed money making scheme.
1489  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can the Google Chrome extension cryptotab really get you $50,000 a month? on: September 06, 2018, 01:51:22 PM
I doubt you're really making a profit, since you'll also have additional power consumption due to the mining.
Your hardware will also age faster, severely reducing its lifespan.

50k a month is impossible, even with a lot of referrals. Cryptotab would never be able to pay those kinds of referral earnings.

Btw, this thread would fit better in Service Discussion I think.
1490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum just crashed 10% in 3 hours on: September 06, 2018, 12:34:24 PM
Not only did Ethereum crashed but other coins and Bitcoin also crashed, I don't know what made all cryptocurrency fall today.

Might be because of the imminent launch of Ethereum futures on CBOE.
Keep in mind that Ethereum was already dropping before the bigger crash of Bitcoin.

https://www.livebitcoinnews.com/ethereum-price-analysis-eth-usd-fresh-lows-on-goldman-sachs-update/

The Bitcoin crash might be due to news that Goldman Sachs isn't going to open a Bitcoin trading desk after all.

1491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone here got into crypto before 2017? How was it before the hype? on: September 05, 2018, 06:38:49 PM
I've been using Bitcoin regularly since 2012 and certain aspects of the community back then were a lot more fun.
Here on the forum, there was less spam and people were coming up with all these cool projects etc.
Felt more like a tight knit community back then.

I mean you still have that a little bit now, but to a lesser extent.

The whole ICO craze was also pretty much unheard of back then, so a lot less scamming going on in that area.
Not that there wasn't any scamming though, the amount of money lost through this forum is pretty staggering.

Just go and check out some of the older loan threads, some pretty funny and sad stories to be found.

Anyone remember Dank Bank for example? Tongue

Side-note: I know you want to hear about the market back then, but you can just go look at chart for that. I think there's already enough focus on that aspect of Bitcoin, just felt like talking about some other stuff.
1492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did I get scammed for a bounty? Can I prevent this from happening in the future? on: September 05, 2018, 04:59:48 PM
Is there a written copy of the terms of the bounty? Was it specified beforehand that you had to be active in their discord, in order to receive the bounty?
Did you know that they were going to issue the bounty after contacting you on Discord?

If not, I'd say it's definitely a scummy thing to do, from their side.
1493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beginner's Luck on: September 05, 2018, 09:43:20 AM
I don't so much believe in beginner's luck because that luck is spread out among the participating members and it may not always pick you. So gambling is all about keeping it rolling, and that's not good for the player always on the loss.
I really doubt if there is anything like beginners luck.
Yeah, at times, as a beginner, it is more like the site trying to welcome you to the party and trying to let you get very comfortable. I remember when I started gambling at first, it was as if the greens from the dice just won't stop and over time, I thought the martingale strategy I was using back then is really going to set me on the wealth level and then it all started. The same thing happened when I started using another account.

I really won't say it is a beginner's luck thing, it is just either the computer playing with your intelligence or nature playing with your intelligence.

Lol, that's basically the same as believing in beginners luck though.
I mean, you're talking about the computer and nature playing with your intelligence...

What's that supposed to mean? Sounds like a bunch of superstition to me.
1494  Economy / Speculation / Re: Satoshi Nakamato selling 111000 Bitcoins ? on: September 05, 2018, 09:35:59 AM
It's far more likely that this is something related to the original Silk Road darknet market.
I think someone tracked those addresses to be in connection with the now defunct marketplace for illicit goods.

This is the original Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/9ceb5v/1b_bitcoins_on_the_move_owner_transfers_100m_to/

All subsequent articles on news website are basically based on that thread.

Here's an article from Cryptoslate that hints at a possible connection between the wallet and Silk Road:

1495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Overview of Universal Basic Income Crypto Projects [23 Projects Listed] on: September 04, 2018, 10:49:55 AM
I have to stop phone browsing almost missed that UBI Gofundme.

Those draws look appealing, especially if the project gets off the ground. I am tempted to get myself some cool shades, but the link to the picture is missing lol.

Watching the trailer it looks like if the goal is reached they will have a polished video. If it is going to help convert naysayers though they will need to focus a portion of the video separating fact from fiction. I'm sure they can find someone to play devils advocate, so that it isn't easily dismissed as propaganda.

Oh lol, I already forgot about that, I was planning to donate at least enough for an entry into the raffle.
I should also do some promotion on my Steemit account, I really hope they reach their target.

I mean, you see crowdfunding for a lot of useless stuff that gets millions, without even having a working product.
Manna is already up and running and they barely reached $4000
1496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Overview of Universal Basic Income Crypto Projects [23 Projects Listed] on: September 04, 2018, 10:14:00 AM
Perhaps EOS will also distribute a cryptoUBI. Very exciting.
https://cryptonomist.ch/en/blockchain-en/universal-basic-income-2/

Very interesting indeed. I'll definitely add it to the list when they build a project around this.
Might actually need to buy some EOS now, I'm sure that this basic income will depend on your stake in EOS.

I doubt that it's actually going to be an unconditional basic income.
1497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is just one coin... on: September 04, 2018, 08:35:43 AM
I am seeing many people getting worry because of Bitcoin is going down its price,

I can almost guarantee you that those people have not witnessed all the previous bull runs and subsequent crashes or correction, whatever you may call it.
people who have been in the game a bit longer, know that this is just temporary.

Besides, we're at $7300 and before last years bull run really started, we were looking at bitcoin at around $1000.
In January and February 2017 you could get 1 bitcoin at under $1000 at certain days, that's under 2 years ago...

I have a couple of friends who got into crypto, just after that bull run started, some of them were almost panicking when the price went down after it hit 20k.
I was like: Yeah what did you expect? It was pretty clear that such a price increase wasn't sustainable.
1498  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: (NEW) BLOCK MESA - The Cryptocurrency Digest/Newsletter on: September 03, 2018, 04:55:03 PM
I really like the fact that you've displayed all news just like the front page of a newspaper.
Definitely subscribing, it's useful to get this sort of overview in a format that can be read in under 5 minutes.

The issue from September 3rd can't be loaded though.
1499  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! on: September 02, 2018, 05:48:42 PM
@LoyceV

Thanks, that's very clear now Smiley

Guess that one will stay low then, not going to artificially trying to increase that for the sake of getting a higher recognition score Tongue
Kinda defeats the purpose of trust.

Congrats to all winners of last month's wagering contest! All prizes were dealt today and new month's contest has already started!

--snip--

Congrats to all winners indeed!

Now is a great time to buy a few tickets for the next lottery, I see some very decent prizes already Wink
