1481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does the world still see Bitcoin as a scam, or is it just a lack of interest? on: May 08, 2023, 08:21:31 AM

It's because the complicated system of the Bitcoin which could result to profit or loss.
Metaphysics is also complicated but that hasn't stopped anyone from delving into it. Bitcoin isn't the only complicated system but the misconception people have about it is that it's a shortcut to riches. That's not true. These ones want to rush in and out and then announce their new status as nouveau richés.

Quote
So I took the risk and studied it for years before engaging with my funds.
So, why aren't others who think it's a complicated system not taking their time to study it like you did before plunging into it then? The simple reason is because they think it's a shortcut to riches.

Centra does not run from its investors and supporters, the government flagged Centra as fraudulent because they use Visa Card services and claim to be in partner with the company where the truth is that the negotiation is still in process.  They were too ahead of the negotiation thus getting them labeled as defrauding their clients.  They did not run instead face the charges and is proven to be guilty as charged and now in jail.  Obviously when the head of the starting company got jailed, its project will definitely crash.  That is what happen in Centra, IMO.

Maywether Jr. on the other side got fined twice the declared earnings if I am not mistaken.
However you put it, it still gets down to the fact that the founder's behaviour was a bit snaky. How does one declare they already have a partnership with another person/company when the deal hasn't scaled through if not in their bid to deceive? From your narration, it's obvious that Centra's founder wanted to quickly latch on Visa Card's popularity and wide spread to market Centra and get many unsuspecting investors to wrongly think Visa was on the deal but that backfired. As for Mayweather getting penalized for his role, it didn't change anything because no money was refunded to investors. It was all a planned deal from the beginning.
1483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing doesn't guarantee you to be rich on: May 08, 2023, 07:57:23 AM
4. ACCEPTING THE RISK: You cannot be profitable if you do not know how to accept the risk, majority of people ignoring it and that is why they are keep losing. Be aware on how much money you can incur before the trade and in that way you can have an idea if the investment is worth it or not.
I love this part. In fact, this should be the hard nut to crack for anyone who goes into business. Sadly, this is the part a great number of people don't even want to contemplate or find out. They want to assume that the path to profiteering should be easy and smooth. For me, the first step is even to think of loss before profit taking. The first thing I ask about any business I'm getting into is the risk and loss aspect before the "mouth watering" ROI which is often the one pushed forward. There's no business without risk, investors should seek the risk and loss out first to avoid unplanned outcome later.
1484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does the world still see Bitcoin as a scam, or is it just a lack of interest? on: May 08, 2023, 07:35:33 AM
Even a decade from now when Bitcoin will have gained more traction and visibility there are people who will still feel it's a scam. There hasn't been a time the entire world agreed on a particular thing; doing that will of course be boring. Difference in opinion helps raise questions and critical awareness on subject matter. So, I don't think there will ever be a time everyone will look at Bitcoin from the same lens and pass a verdict that it isn't a scam. Basically, I think ignorance of what Bitcoin is and can do is its biggest bane. Though I must add that the scam tag has drastically reduced now than it was pre-2017.

Those who still feel dissatisfaction against Bitcoin for their allegation that it enables scam or in itself is a scam should remember that there was scam centuries before Bitcoin was created and even if Bitcoin should go extinct now, scam will still be there.
1485  Economy / Economics / Re: How to increase profit in business on: May 08, 2023, 06:27:25 AM
Customer relation, a business person must understand that customer is king and should be treated like a royalty.
I beg to differ on the part I bolded as it doesn't apply to every customer. There are some customers you wish you didn't have because of their irritant behaviour. No matter how hard you try to please these ones, they won't be appeased. Perhaps, OP hasn't met such unpleasant humans. I think that expression is a cliché that rests on idealism rather than reality.

Too many customers obviously won't increase your profit, and if you're selling things at a loss to them, I don't think that's a good way to attract more customers.
Why would anyone sell below their goods at a loss and still call themselves a business person. OP didn't say sell at a loss but sell at a discount. Selling at a discount doesn't mean selling at a loss. What it simply means is that the business owner decides to lower their profit on the product.
1486  Economy / Reputation / Re: How secure are you when unknown user chats you up? on: May 07, 2023, 03:44:43 PM
I think its best time you blacklist the unknown user, because if you dare respond to them, it's very obvious that you have been trapped, because some greedy people like investment with huge profits. Sometimes ignoring some of the investment can at a point make you to be free from scammers.
Ignoring them is the best remedy, only the prudent make use of this. Those who salivate over mouthwatering investment are no different from those who scam them because they too are greedy. Otherwise, why would anyone think a random stranger they meet online can make them wealthy overnight because of the type of offer they make them if not that they throw caution to the wind once they hear it has a nice ROI.
1487  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Avoid Ponzi/Ponzi scheme is a scam on: May 07, 2023, 02:26:56 PM
I once got deceived into investing in Centra (I hope I got the name right as it happened a long time ago) because Flowd Mayweather was its poster boy, it was the same thing when I also invested in Electroneum (ETN) which a Premier League football coach also promoted. While Centra has since died off, ETN has continued to crash since it was created. In the past, I used to trust influencers and celebrities on whatever projects they supported or advertised but not any more. They're also humans like me and are probe to bad choices too.

Talking about ponzi, the thing is that most people who invest in ponzi projects are often aware of what they're getting into but they hope to get out fast before it crashes. Most people don't have the patience of waiting to reap from their efforts in crypto investment. They want it fast and sharp, the highway pattern but that's not how genuine businesses work. So, they turn to Ponzi schemes. If I know someone is a senior ranked user and they fell prey to ponzi, I don't pity them because they should know better.
1488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gas station payment with bitcoin. on: May 06, 2023, 03:01:21 PM
...the transaction of buyer will be confirmed before leaving...
Yes, that's the ideal situation but does it always work out that way? The answer is obviously no. OP is a Nigerian and we all know how impatient our compatriots can be once it comes to money. Both buyer and seller will become impatient when the usual Blockchain congestion happens during Bitcoin payment. There's no argument on this. I've had a few of my P2P transactions delayed for over 24hrs before escrow could release my money even when it was obvious at the receiver's end that there was a signalled incoming transaction to their wallet. They waited until deposit was fully confirmed. In a situation like that, will you let the buyer go without complete confirmation; knowing that the payment can be reversed through double spending?
1489  Economy / Economics / Re: Imagination and reality on: May 06, 2023, 12:48:01 PM
I can't remember how it's properly put but the saying means – we've to wake up to chase our dreams (it's a play on words). There's nothing wrong in dreaming big or imagining it. The problem will be with the approach of fulfilling it. No one dreams and folds their arms to have it come to pass. Of course, every physical manifestation would've its conception in the mind first and that's the dream. Dreams are intangible but what they birth are obvious (and could be felt) for others to see.
1490  Economy / Speculation / Re: Halving effects, how long they will last? on: May 06, 2023, 12:04:54 PM
Every 4 years, we expect bull market just because of halving. What do you think when is this chain is going to broken? Ie, halving no longer equals that bull market is coming.
Yes, the halving expectations are often fever pitch. We find this influence on price both in pre and post halving situations. A year before halving sees price rallying up and then its crescendo is in the post halving that produces fresh ATHs for every circle.

My personal expectation (based on the price history, so no guarantees): we'll see a new ATH a year after the next halving.
It's a Deja Vu. We saw this same pattern in 2017 (after halving in 2016) and 2021 (after halving in 2020), expectedly next one will be in 2025 (after halving in 2024). I started with 2017 because that's when I started following Bitcoin happenings.
1491  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: More exchanges shutting down, Hold your Asset with You on: May 06, 2023, 11:25:22 AM
More exchanges are going to shut down, while many more are going to be established. More cryptos will go extinct while many more will be created. Ups and Downs, Going and Coming. That's the reality and beauty of life. Yes, some people will sadly be caught up in the web of closure of any exchange just like some will also miraculously escape it. There's no fool proof how these things run.

For those who categorically condemn Cexs, I think they should review their condemnation and set it properly. There's no active trader who doesn't leave their cryptos on exchanges. One can't be withdrawing and depositing every now and then as a trader simply because one is adhering to the "Never leave your cryptos on centralized exchanges." It doesn't work that way, realistically.
1492  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cartooned style video about Bitcoin for beginners on: May 06, 2023, 10:59:18 AM
So while browsing on TikTok, I've seen a video explaining about Bitcoin and how it works with a cartoon-style animation.
TikTok used to be a place I dispised a lot because of loose display of near nudity until recently when I started seeing some nice educative contents there. Till date I dare not watch TikTok without my thumb on the flip or skip tab, especially if I'm watching with my kids because you never can tell what obscenity that can turn up. Notably, I'm glad things are beginning to take a better turn and it's good to have more of these educative contents out there for kids (many of them want to learn "this Bitcoin").

Going forward, I think it's also good to have such contents on YouTube and Twitter to further spread them out.
1493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Government's actions against crypto on: May 06, 2023, 09:40:31 AM
This conflict will determine the fate of many people and companies involved in cryptocurrency. They might have to shut down or move to a different country.
I've got to that point where I don't care so much about governments' attitude towards cryptocurrency because most of them expectedly will want to protect their local currencies against cryptos. China scared me in 2017 with that same attitude. It was my first time witnessing so much bad press against cryptos and it actually did scare me. So many crypto businesses including Binance moved out of China that year because of that. Bitcoin took a beating for that but rose to do an ATH that shook everyone that year. If the US likes, let it become anti-cryptos I don't see it destroying the industry. Of course, it will cause it to dip but certainly it can't cause its end.
1494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have 2 questions that bother me on: May 06, 2023, 06:59:19 AM
From my observation, the price at launch is arbitrary set by the project team during the prelaunch time with various marketing channels like ICOs, IDOs or even IEOs and teams test the waters to see how it goes. The projects become immediately sold out if the price is deemed to be too good for the project. Some times the projects don't get sold out too and it can be from negative assessment of what they tend to bring to the market. I've participated in several launchpads and such reactions are made clear there too.

1498  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Your thoughts on crypto exhcnages. on: May 02, 2023, 08:52:00 PM
It can be bad considering that exchanges could go bankrupt like FTX, but in general, I think exchanges speed up adoption.
Nothing lasts forever. It's the same way nothing can be adjudged perfect in all ramifications without one or two slips of bad doing. Sometimes these things happen but they aren't preplanned. If we continue to use the FTX case to adjudge the entire crypto space and Cexs then we're biased because there are cases where certain cryptos over performed but they don't get mentioned.

I think the best way is to use the exchange to buy crypto or like a P2P platform, but hold all crypto on the wallet, preferably a cold one.
Except for long term hodlers, otherwise it doesn't make sense to regular traders to keep moving their funds out of exchanges to their wallets for safety measure each time they buy.
1499  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is Forex trades is a part of Crypto Trade? on: May 02, 2023, 07:46:49 PM
Cryptocurrency itself appeared quite recently. I don't think it's fair to compare them at all.
I don't think there's any aberration comparing them at all (or any other). In comparing them, one draws out the similarities and difference in them. That can help further enhance interest or abate it. Whichever one it does, at least the participants or those who trade them should know what they're getting into or what they're already into.

Forex market is much more predictable and understandable.
Yes, that's true. We also need to mention that the FX market is a regulated one unlike what obtains in cryptos.
1500  Economy / Speculation / Re: Month of May. Bitcoin price guess on: May 02, 2023, 04:44:22 PM
The catch is to get in before the graph gets interesting. We're only ~2.5x away from a new ATH Wink
Speculating about Bitcoin price for May, it doesn't look like what will favour Bitcoin much because from the monthly candle close on the chart, price seems indecisive. It's a contest between buyers and sellers with wicks both ways. So, I don't expect to see much in price movement to the upside this May. It's more likely that price will end up with what it's now at the end of the month than breaking out of the $30k region and staying above it. I expect price correction more this May.
