1681  Other / Meta / Re: [Ban Request] 1xbit signature spammer. Do you agree? on: February 11, 2022, 01:07:21 PM
To get them a real ban, I think you'll have to build a case against each individual user. Back when Yobit was spamming, suchmoon made an overview of the number of posts per user. Such an overview could help here too, but it's a lot of work and I've seen users get away with many deleted posts.

The yobit stats mostly helped yahoo to remove users from the campaign. I don't think mods looked into it. They get the post reports and delete those posts, so not sure what other case could be possibly built here.
1682  Other / Meta / Re: [Ban Request] 1xbit signature spammer. Do you agree? on: February 10, 2022, 10:44:55 PM
For me 1xbit content doesn't look as bad as Yobit/Cryptotalk campaign. Or maybe I got wrong impression because number of participants is significantly smaller and their content isn't that visible.

Yobit paid per post for a large number (100?) of posts. 1xbit payment is flat rate for a minimum is 20 posts per week and if you look at the spreadsheet they are all trying to make 20-21-22 posts. So there's less spam in absolute numbers but they're clearly posting only to get paid and most of the posts are useless.

Please don't feed the trollface.

But at this point all of this is nothing more but baseless speculation. Smiley

Dude has everything. Goes out on top. GOAT forever.

Versus gambling for one more SB ring or a possible injury or just having a bad frustrating season and tarnishing his stats/reputation/etc.

I hope Gisele puts her foot down and keeps him retired. As for money, he can still make many millions with ads and merchandise and maybe working in broadcasting or coaching or whatever tickles him.
1684  Other / Meta / Re: [Ban Request] 1xbit signature spammer. Do you agree? on: February 10, 2022, 06:57:37 PM
Such local rules cannot be enforced, IMO.

Any local rules rarely if ever get enforced in Meta but that's a whole other story. This rule by itself is not ambiguous or subjective or otherwise unenforceable if moderators chose to do so.
1685  Other / Meta / Re: [Ban Request] 1xbit signature spammer. Do you agree? on: February 10, 2022, 06:34:21 PM
As I said in the other thread, 1xbiters are spamming like crazy and most of them should have been banned already. There is no quality control whatsover - campaign manager obviously doesn't care about spam and they're all red-trusted (participants and manager). What's worse is that reporting those posts - besides being a waste of time - actually helps 1xbit save money because they don't pay the participants when enough posts get deleted to put them under 20 for the week. The only hope is that spammers may eventually stop spamming if they don't get paid for a few weeks but it's possible that others would take their place.

But at least everyone's busy - spammers, reporters, mods... Forget discussing Bitcoin, the real purpose of the forum is trying to protect scammer's feelings LOL.
1686  Other / Meta / Re: Ban on signatures for 1xbit campaign participants, do you agree? on: February 10, 2022, 12:25:12 PM
Correct me if I am wrong and specific signatures can easily be detected and removed.

Simple - ban signatures that link to 1xbit site(s).

If a gullible victim doesn't see the ads here, they'll see the same ads at Blockchair or Coinmarketplace. "Be your own bank" means you should "use your own brain".

I would argue that we should use our collective brain and realize that allowing such malicious scammers like Yobit (which did happen) and 1xbit (which didn't for some reason) to continue screwing with this forum has no upside. They are not here to discuss Bitcoin, they're here only to spam the shit out of it. And we're pretending that rules are set in stone and there is nothing anyone could possibly do because rules and regulations don't allow it. Doesn't get much more snowflaky than that.

BTW theymos the hands-off guy did ban 1xbit from buying forum ads so there's that. He also e.g. bans users doxing him but not users doxing other people with no trade disputes. So there's rules and there's different rules.
1687  Other / Meta / Re: Ban on signatures for 1xbit campaign participants, do you agree? on: February 09, 2022, 03:52:55 PM
Are they creating spam on the forum?

Yes. I have reported probably close to a thousand 1xbit posts over the last week and most of them have been deleted but as far as I can tell not a single user has been banned even though vast majority of their posts are utter meaningless drivel. There are users creating posts in 1-2 minute intervals, likely sockpuppet farms because these posts come in bursts at certain times of day. Signature ban? No. Just ban. Not holding my breath though.

If they moderate one scam then users will expect them to moderate all scams and then there you are on the slippery slope of holding them accountable for scams they didn’t moderate..

There is no slippery slope or some other fallacious reason for these users to exist here. This is not about scamming or other misguided notions that we can't possibly clean this forum up. They're useless shitposters.

And BTW the whole "scams are not moderated" copout makes no sense when (a) we expect users to wade through the rivers of shit flowing here and figure out what's what on their own - ok, fair enough, bitcoiners are supposed to be smart LOL, but at the same time (b) we think that the same users are dumb enough to think that if SOME scammers are banned etc then the forum is responsible for ALL scams. Pick a lane, are we smart enough or not.

But I digress. This is just spam, regardless of what shitty casino they're promoting.
1688  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 08, 2022, 07:03:11 PM
Cobra doesn't agree with this.

Are we seriously to believe the absurd notion that someone capable of hacking 100K BTC stores the private keys in… CLOUD STORAGE?

Well, it was ENCRYPTED so what could possibly go wrong?  Grin

On or about January 31, 2022, law enforcement was able to decrypt several key files contained within the account.

Which is slightly chilling TBH but not very surprising.
1689  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 08, 2022, 06:53:58 PM
Yeaaahhhh.  The more I think about this... The less it makes very much sense at all!

There is some seriously important detail missing for sure.

But on the other hand wouldn't the forces who might have fabricated this whole thing (if it were fabricated) done a slightly better job?

Maybe the actual thieves received most of the fiat obtained from those 25k BTC converted.
Maybe these who got caught are only the launderers/money mules.

I'm not that sure about the fabricated evidence. (But I also won't rule anything out.)

According to messieurs Hanlon and Occam, this happens more often than you'd think. Keep in mind that only the stupid ones get caught and posted on the dot gov site. The ones that get away... well, they get away and we never know how they did it. So there is a huge inherent bias in how we interpret this type of news.
1690  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 08, 2022, 06:13:22 PM
Why the fuck are they even staying in New York with 100k bitcoin, LOL, dumb doesn't even begin to explain it.. I doubt they were the masterminds behind this scheme.

It's a real pickle for these two now. Assuming they laundered 25k for the actual thieves, said thieves will probably want them dead before they get to snitch.
1691  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 08, 2022, 05:51:23 PM
~

"files within an online account [...] contained the private keys" LOL

I guess it's a good thing that criminals are idiots.
1692  Economy / Services / Re: [open] Restart of 1xBit signature campaign - new signatures and more spots! on: February 08, 2022, 01:44:35 PM

Actually no, you need to stop posting this garbage (i.e. get banned) but until that happens deleting your posts is the next best thing we have.

1693  Economy / Services / Re: [Open] 1xbit.com | Five Championships - Five Bitcoins Signature Campaign on: February 08, 2022, 01:34:37 PM
1xbit is a scam site.
Our campaigns are running for about a year in a row, and the 1xBit company itself runs since 2016 - quite a long term for a scam, isn't it strange?

Yeah, who could have thought that a scam could be profitable Roll Eyes
1694  Economy / Services / Re: [Open] 1xbit.com | Five Championships - Five Bitcoins Signature Campaign on: February 08, 2022, 01:04:43 PM
1xbit is a scam site. If you promote it in your signature you will likely get red trust and will not be able to join any other signature campaign. Not that most of you could be accepted anywhere else anyway. But don't cry later that you haven't been warned.
1695  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Say NO to smoke detectors! on: February 07, 2022, 04:43:03 PM
why do you think all those antennas have blinking lights at the top!?!

To guide chemtrail dispensers obviously.
1696  Economy / Reputation / Re: REQUEST FOR ATTENTION OF: All 1xbit Signature Campaign Participants on: February 07, 2022, 12:33:30 AM
some body here continue to report my post and mod keep deleting my posts 10, 18, even to the extent of deleting post i received merit, if the post is a shit post i will not received merit, wickedness is not a food, stop reporting someone post because is in 1×bit, before 24 hours it will report this particular post.

Ouch, no scam payment this week, or will you post more garbage to make the quota?

If your scammy "employer" doesn't care about the utter shit you're producing, that doesn't mean you can just keep posting illiterate drivel without repercussions.
1697  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Say NO to smoke detectors! on: February 05, 2022, 11:42:43 PM
But how else would the sheep know when their house is on fire.  They're too lazy to use the smoke detector our lord and savior Jesus Christ blessed them with (their nose and eyes). Smoke detectors are the only option, if you're a sheep.

well except for those that die in their sleep from smoke inhalation

sleep is for sheep

Everyone knows that fires always end so what's the big deal. Just wait it out. Smoke detectors seem like some sort of millennial contraption for people who think they must know immediately if a fire starts even in the middle of the night, and wake the whole neighborhood.

That's one I really don't get.  I can see why some would find "Redskins" offensive base on the historic use of the word, but "Chiefs?"  I can't think of how the word "chief" can be associated with negative connotations, regardless of the theme behind the choice.  In my opinion "Chiefs" is a name that harkens to the history of the region where they're based, much like the 49ers.

I think it's more about the caricature-like symbols that accompany the name, rather than the name itself. Feather headdress, tomahawk chop, etc. If the teams were able to rebrand themselves and refocus their fans away from those stereotypes, I think the would be far less debate about the names. There are definitely ways to spin the PR machine to make those names sound as "tribute" or something like that.

I also stumbled upon something called "Star Trek, Lower decks" Anyone know what that is? Sounds like space porn to me.

Not porn. Just a cartoon/comedy loosely related to Star Trek.

Do you have definitive proof that they weren't? This argument goes both ways.

That's not how burden of proof works. The person making the claim, i.e. you, should provide proof instead of demanding that I run around your constantly moving goalposts and do your work for you. I gave you the data on excess deaths. You dismissed it "because CDC" but forgot to post the non-CDC uber-reliable and trustworthy data showing otherwise.
