not against the rules/laws on this forum

You might want to read the rules. At least the first one.
1782  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] Have you ordered your free Covid tests yet? on: January 19, 2022, 03:16:39 AM
as for using the tests to get access to a plane journey or get back to work, is a false utility of tests
by simply not swabbing their mouth/nose. they can show a test that appears negative. even when the person is still positive.
by just showing their employer a negative test they can go back to work. even when actually physically positive

I don't think home test results are accepted for foreign travel or school/employment purposes where required, etc - for obvious reasons. Home tests are for your own use, e.g. if you had a contact with a person sick with COVID and want to test yourself before visiting your elderly relatives or going to work.

Reported posts have been deleted, SmokerFace still not banned, not sure if it's worth continuing but perhaps I will. Things we do for successful relationships...

so "o_e_l_e_o" is flawless and you put them on a pedestal?

Hmmm... haven't tried that, sounds kinky.

sometimes the intent is to destroy, not control.

It's such a huge cost that I imagine there are more efficient ways of doing that. For example US lobbying spending is $3bn per year; getting anti-bitcoin laws/regulations passed would cost only a fraction of that. The cost to double the hashrate would likely be one or two orders of magnitude more expensive.
1785  Economy / Reputation / Re: User SmokerFace - Recycling posts for sig campaign, new way of cheating ? on: January 18, 2022, 08:26:24 PM
I don't expect anything else from the retards like muchmoon to dig up profiles of people they want to be in a relationship with
This is outrageous! Suchie, why have you never dug up my profile? Cry

I have. It's utterly lacking in shitposts. I'm afraid the S&M relationship via mod reports is not going to work out between us.
1786  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anti-vaxxers now drinking their own urine on: January 18, 2022, 07:06:05 PM
Governments implemented all kinds of restrictions, you couldn't gather in places of worship if you wanted to because any congregate settings were deemed to be unsafe. The government can use COVID as an excuse to stop religious practices or recreational practices, but they can't use COVID to stop radical racial demonstrations, plenty of which erupted oi violence, according to the 1200 doctors that signed that letter. Do you see the double standard here?

I'm quite certain there was a Trump rally around the same time when street protests were taking place so it doesn't look like the government was particularly keen on using "COVID as an excuse to stop religious practices or recreational practices".

Anyway, what does all this have to do with drinking pee-pee?

This is one reason why multi-front ASIC chip development is so important.  One attack vector would be able to produce a chip so powerful that you could use it for a 51% attack or the likes.

I am thinking the time of that possibility might be past us?

With the amount of hashrate you would need for a 51% attack you're probably better off just mining. And there isn't much "profit" with this kind of attack to begin with. Doublespend would be fraud (i.e. lawsuits) no matter how you look at it, and you'd need a massive amount of bitcoins to spend. What else? Some FUD (attack!!! run for the hills!!!) + shorting? But that can be done far cheaper, just spread rumors about China or something. Force a hardfork? No different than creating a new shitcoin.

~ Intel ~

I'll believe it when I see it. Intel has their own fabs so in theory they could have a huge advantage over Bitmain and other peasants waiting in line at TSMC but they just recently deployed 7nm technology that's been mainstream in ASICs for a few years now. And it isn't even "real" 7nm - the official line is that Intel employs some magic geometry to pack more stuff into a 10nm die that makes it "equivalent" to 7nm but their consumer CPUs use more power than e.g. AMD CPUs (TSMC 7nm) so it remains to be seen how well those tricks can work for SHA256 ASICs.

Where are the Cardinals memes? The only undefeated team at one point in the season. The one that was certainly not going to repeat the collapse of the last season.
1790  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Testing the responsiveness of Ledger Support on: January 18, 2022, 02:25:23 PM
That sounds absurd, posting a support request publicly.
You are right about that part. But so is ETFbitcoin about what he said. You shouldn't use the reddit board or any social media to post private and identifiable information, but you can use it to get a bit more attention to your particular case. No company or service likes to look bad in public, and applying a little bit of pressure at the right time, can do the trick.

I get that, but to me that's indicative of customer service failure if I need to shame them into acting.

Although to be fair, this thread shows that Ledger customer service isn't that bad.
1791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 18, 2022, 12:03:07 PM
the Chiefs might have one of the worst defense in the NFL during the regular season.

It has improved a lot in the last couple of months. Whole season numbers may not reflect that correctly.
1792  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Testing the responsiveness of Ledger Support on: January 18, 2022, 11:57:33 AM
If you want Ledger to pay attention to your problem and solve it faster, then can use the option of posting on the official subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/. This option is suitable for the least patient.

That sounds absurd, posting a support request publicly. And from what I've seen in that subreddit, it's full of spammers and scammers, and there is some dimwit pretending to be a "founder" or something like that. Best advice you'll get there is to contact support through the proper channels.
1793  Economy / Reputation / Re: User SmokerFace - Recycling posts for sig campaign, new way of cheating ? on: January 18, 2022, 03:35:26 AM
is there no prohibition for a user like him?

"Scams are not moderated" is the rule that allows this garbage to continue while <insert rant about valuable users getting banned here>.

I have reported their 10 recent posts for being shitposts, will see how this goes.
1794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [self-moderated] Is LN Bitcoin? franky1: About scaling, on-chain and off-chain on: January 18, 2022, 03:26:55 AM
This also demonstrates a lack of basic comprehension.  If a user is swapping their BTC for a coin on another blockchain, that means the user on the other blockchain is accepting the BTC.  It is therefore not possible to have a mass "exit" from BTC if it's 1 out, 1 in.  Someone will always be taking the place of the person who left.

Come on, you're handing this to franky1 on a platter. There is a buyer for every sale. But that doesn't make it impossible to have more people exiting than coming in, or create price pressure, etc.

This bitcoin is a bitcoin that has 340 bitcoins, but has never sent money...

Coming from a newbie who's asking for a 1 BTC loan so obviously it's a solid fact.
1797  Other / Archival / Re: 1btc loan for 1 year on: January 18, 2022, 12:42:56 AM
Then find some "lost bitcoins" instead of begging here. No one will give 1 BTC to a newbie, let alone for some idiotic "program" that will never work.
1798  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto.com suspends withdrawals on: January 17, 2022, 06:04:37 PM
I am not sure what would "all funds are safe" mean after an "unauthorized activity", still, it doesn't look too bad (yet).
Let's see whether there will be complains after the update they're rolling out now.

I would guess it's either that they have enough funds to cover any losses or they have insurance to cover any losses.
Or this was internal DB work that went very poorly.

Every exchange says that and you can't really expect them to say "we're fucked, your money's gone". The real answer will come if and when everyone will be able to withdraw any part of their funds, i.e. no holds, limits, haircuts, spurious KYC, compensation with stupid tokens, etc.

Niners must feel really lucky to find out that Prescott doesn't know how long "14 seconds" is.

First upset (kinda sorta) of the playoffs, beating a higher seed.

We know why he was removed, COVID disinformation. And COVID disinformation changes depending on whatever people like Dr. Fauci wants to say.

Let me rephrase. What was it exactly that McCullough said that got him fired?
