I wanted to come back to bitminter. But after mining for 20~ hours with 200 GH/s I'm only seeing 0.05BTC. Was it just a bad few rounds? Even with bad rounds, I never had it this bad at slush.
I like how people like you think omg this sucks when your averaging what, $20 a day and people like me with small ops are doin what, $0.50 - $1 a day.
1882  Other / Off-topic / PIO Pin Extender ? on: November 13, 2013, 06:36:20 PM
So I got my nice VESA case today which I plan to use as a wall mount case. In any even, as you can see from the pic below. The pins fall short, and even if they didnt would be exposed.

Sooo, does the below linked item look like it would completely close that gap of and give me a solid connection for my Adafruit LCD ? Not sure how good the pic is but if you can't see it, above the pins there's enough of a gap to take a twice folded in half 8x10 sheet o priner paper and slide it in without moving the LCD much, gap slightly changes based on tension used to hold it for paper test. Basically it comes down to me wanting a solid connection without much if any exposed pin for the LCD.

Personal Assets Balance Unconfirmed Future Expected per block

Would you consider a "confirmed" colum that shows what's been confirmed but just not added to account balance yet ? I suspect you could even have it to show the "true" balance, by that I mean confirmed stuff thats yet to be paid but has fees aalready deducted.
1884  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [270 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees + MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: November 12, 2013, 02:27:45 PM
What are base fees again ? I seem to be misingg the info lol, I wana say 1% but that sounds too low.

Right now I have 0.6% in perks used... I was thinkin of prepay but that ott me to thinkin on base fees, if it's 1% and I add prepay that puts my perks at 2.10% and is base is one then my totals 3.10%.

The fee is 1% (it's on the bitminter.com front page). Yes, it's very low.

So 1% fee + 0.6% donation = 1.6%

If your donations reach 2% you can activate the pro minter perk, which makes all other perks free. That way you never need to go higher than 2% donation to get all the features. 1% fee + 2% donation = 3% which has long been a common fee at pools.

Well, right now I have 0.00002637 unconfirmed and that's just from like 2-3hrs of fmining on 1 asic lol. I did the math on fees, even at 2.1% which is just the following perks and that came out to still be really low that I should see no affect of.

Non Stop, Team Effor & Pre Pay

Actually it would be 2% and not 2.1 (3 with base fee) because of the pro thing.

So using unconfirmed so far.... if I had all that set that means i'd still be gettin 0.00002558 which is only a loss of 0.00000079.

Edit: How far does BTC trail after the period ?

1.Huh?

Wana try to do some math to see if prepay is worth it, even thouh I have never seen an orphaned block... I've always seen em confirm.

OK scratch this, I see you got it answered while I was trying to find the display I have.  Here is a link to it, if anyone cares. Much cheaper than the Adafruit and it works good.

really it shouldn't need anything at all, no program or anything, to at least have the back light on, I would work on that first.
Figured it out, been talkin to Neil from minepeon... just needed to do what is said here: http://minepeon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=371

Soon as I did that the damn thing powered up and started showin data.

Also, the LCD was a prebuilt kit from eBay with the backplate, buttons etc. so it just needed pluing on to the GPIO pins and doing what Neil instructed in the post he linked me / that I linked here.

Hey Doc, as for your todo list. I'd liek to see that two factor at the top for all account changes.

I wana buy some BTC, I just don't like the damn wire tranfer thing that Mt Gox and bitstamp has. I'd rather go buy a greendot and give em the mony that way but nooooo thats to good for them.
That's why you use localbitcoin.com
& they r who ?

Yes I know i can goto ttheur site butt this is first ive heard of em.

I hope it eventualy gets to the point where difficulty gets so high that people stop mining and then that dificulty drops radically before it climbs back up. It has to happen since eventually mining will be obsolete with such a high difficulty since most people would have to end up invsting 20k just to consider turning a profit. In a way it's already like that, anyone who wants to make a small profit right now has to invest at least 3k, even then it depends on the type of rig you wana run, which for me is an asic rig due to less power requirements.
1894  Bitcoin / Mining support / If you have, had or know how to make the rPi work with an adafruit display... on: November 10, 2013, 03:50:17 PM
Ok, so I got my rPi setup with Mine Peon and running good on wifi, I got bored and did a impulse buy on one of those Adafruit LCD displays linked below.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/291002207489?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_44wt_1133

Well, I contacted the seller last night about the issue and he hasn't responded yet, no bidggie yet. Anyway, I pluged the LCD onto the rPi's GPIO pins like I was supposed to. Powered up the Pi and nothing happened, no flicker of light... no nothing. For those of you who use or have used one of these Adafruit LCD displays on your rPi. Is there any sort of special software I need to load for it to initialize ?

At the very least I would have expected it to power up, even if this damn thing needs additional software ontop of MinePeon to display data.

Ty.

If you use Google or Verisign you should be able to activate their 2-factor authentication for logging in.
Dont know what verisign is but as far as google goes, I jus got gmail for my android and use two factor on slush pool, the blockchain site and mt gox. So kinda lost what your sayin here.

Using it to protect account settings could be interesting though. I'll look into it.
Yes it would be, I guess payment address dont technically have to be locked if two factor is used tto make any account changes. So outside of someone havin access to the sites DB. I should technically be able o give my PW to the world and unless any one of them has my phone then there's nothing they could do except look at wha I have set.

Also, by using it to make any account changes. I mean everyhing from adding / deleting a worker to even modifying a worker / adding / removing perks since technically any account change no matter how small can affect the end user "me".
1896  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [270 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees + MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: November 09, 2013, 11:51:24 PM
Some changes on the website:

  • Added btc/nmc filter for transaction history
  • Added your average hashrate to shifts page and show score as percentage
  • Worker page: show 10 workers at a time + added filters
  • Live stats: only list BTC blocks in latest block list + change mhps to ghps

One thing I like on another pools site that concerns me here is not having Two Factor "Google" Authentication and the ability to lock a payout address.

These are what I would like to see...

1) Two Factor "Google" Authentcation added.
2) To disable 1, a code must be entered... this protects things protected by Two Factor "Google" Authentication.
3) The abbility to lock a payout address so it cannot be changed.
4) The ability to change a lock payout addres but requires the entering of the Two Factor "Google" Authentication code.
5) Basically any account setting changes should require the entrance of the Two Factor code.

There was some other minor stuff I sorta forgot lol but I feel the four above things should at least to me be a sort of priority on a todo list.

Yes, with higher hashrate you earn more.
Thats all I ever really wanted to know ;-)

Sadly I will be doing about 1.3Ghs or a while unil I can buy 16 more 333 asics at which poin I'll be at about 6.5Ghs. I guess the upside to that though is that us little guys are more geard towards earning cost of equipement back easy compared to those who spend 4k on high end electricity hoging rigs.

Edit: Speakin of difficulty, is there a guide that says what is best to mine at with a given hash rate ?

Ex. I finally get to 6.5 GHs so what difficulty should I choose in the worker setins area to ive best chance of better earning / variance.
1898  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [270 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees + MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: November 09, 2013, 09:47:07 AM
Your average earnings are affected by your hashrate and the current bitcoin difficulty.
See, now I am confusd becuause that basically sounds like what I said before where say a guy with 2.2THs will earn more than someone with say 22Ghs. Then you pointed out that "document" that basically said no no no.... earnins are fair and even. More power / hasrate just means you can work better difficulty to tale stress off the server.
1899  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [270 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees + MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: November 09, 2013, 06:26:28 AM
your share is 1gh out of 270th .

my share is 44gh out of 270th  so my payout is 44x bigger then your payout.
That goes against everything in what I read that Doc showed me unless I'm misunderstanding what your saying. What I gathered from the linked post basically says that regardless of whos ot more power still means it's fair game since it depends on what that person finds.

I dont know, now I'm just confused ;-/

Edit: As for what I want, I will be stickin with 333 asics right now since I can buy $90 worth of them and get the same effect as 1 fury. Just means more hubs based on how I wana go.
1900  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [270 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees + MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: November 09, 2013, 03:34:27 AM
So if I mine at I'll say for sake of argument 1Ghs and some guy is mining 2Ths our shares can be the same based on who finds what. So from what I read there, the bigger miners just have a difficulty advantage for keeping a server stable.

On anoher note, I think for me I'll just keep all the default settings (diificulty etc.) minus the warn threshold I set of 300 per worker / stick which I think is ok for ASIC's advertised at 333.

What is the sway on these things anyway, assuming someone knows. Like I know they will flucuate a few pts from advertised based on temp etc. but to really nail down a problem with a specific ASIC. What would a optimal threshold setting be assuming it's not the 300 I have set assumin a person has good cooling which I'm still thinking on ? I'd hate to lose 4 USB slots / 1.2Ghs just to use 4 USB fans on a 20 port hub.

Edit: Hey Doc, got to thinking... people always say as the dificulty grows that only the big miners will be "profitable" that said. Doesnt what I said before sort of hold true. Since it will come down to upgrade, get out or just live with it ?
