1921  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I am thinking of mining, but wary of downloading so many programs. Need advice on: May 22, 2013, 04:33:04 PM
this can't be serious...
1922  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: using hardware to crack wpa for money on: May 22, 2013, 03:55:24 PM
What you propose is fraudulent and illegal, begone!

well, legality is questionable. Many reputable pen testing groups/consultants rely on online distributed brute forcing to achieve their ends. Wether to enlighten a client about the dangers of wireless etc.

The more appropriate response was that there is already MANY established services online for such things and I doubt coming in late in the game would be profitable.
1923  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How many BFL ASIC is shipped? on: May 22, 2013, 03:24:11 PM

lol yeah... units. that probably means two jala's went out.

still, few more months and I might get mine.
More than 30 If what they said was true, remember http://bfl.ptz.ro by no means has all the orders on it.

Well thats always going to be the deal breaker.

1924  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: tAPI-bot - Automated crossover trade platform for BTC-e on: May 22, 2013, 02:43:47 PM
I have to baby sit it or else I come back to it buying high and selling low at times... that and I am a cheapskate even when it comes to testing.

Fees are an issue. Seems like the bot plays the margins too close for profitability most of the time, unless there is some good movement in the market. I have caught it making some good trades though and it seems that different trading pairs work better with different signals but I've set my sights on just ltc_usd for tweaking.

Another interesting realization I had the other day is no matter how good this bot might work, there are much meaner things lurking on btc-e... which is a fun catalyst by itself. The glory of the internet.

There is no magic bullet for all pairs, nor all days. You have to adapt your signal settings to make any profit. Volatility is your friend.

HA! You can say that again!

Still, I wish I kept better records of performance. I'm thinking it makes profit about 50-75% of the time which I do not think is bad since I'm not even a ranked amature when it comes to proper trading strategy... I just know how to read!

1926  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I'm starting to get fucking pissed (BFL) on: May 22, 2013, 12:56:06 AM
I think all the early pre-orderers are a bit upset that they could have made a ridiculous amount of money if they had gone with either Avalon or ASICMiner.  *sigh*

Now, I've been drinking, but memory serves I don't think anyone else was shipping and or close to shipping this time last year. BFL got the lion's share because they were first to pre-order. I could be wrong about the timing though.

glendall - boondoggle is a great word for this situation. two points.
1927  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Doubloons: Cryptocurrency for Pirates on: May 22, 2013, 12:48:29 AM

1929  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BFL eBay Scam on: May 22, 2013, 12:14:56 AM
Funny thing about this... a few months ago there was a string of pre-order scams (or not) floating around ebay and if memory serves, I'm pretty sure they all shipped out Irving TX (which I thought was strange at the time).
1930  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs on: May 21, 2013, 08:42:56 PM
this is what you can do... send me 1/2 the going rate for a jala in BTC, I will kick you in the balls and keep your money. You are now officially 'up to speed' with those of us who have pre-ordered BFL products.

Este Nuno gave you a very honest and short summary of your options. Truth is, no one really knows. If you want to get into ASIC, I would do some research on other ASIC offerings and look only at the products that have shipped.

1932  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Complete Miners (non DIY) GH/S/BTC [Updated 5/18/13] on: May 19, 2013, 08:41:04 PM
I think this list encourages fraud.

There are only two companies in your list that have actually shipped:

BlackArrow and BitFountain.

The others:

KNCMiner - science fiction story, they have not shipped anything they do not even have pictures of their products.
t13hydra, terrahash, ryepdx, burnin - rely on avalon ASICs which have not yet been produced.
Butterfly labs - have taken orders of millions of dollars, have not shipped in 1 year, most likely a fraud.

Our company has tried to purchase 30000 IC from Avalon. The law in China is to sign a contract to purchase the merchandise. We asked them for this and they gave us a bogus address in Beijing and confessed that they do not have a company. For this reason I would be very careful regarding the Avalon ASICs.

Fraud, maybe, MISS INFORMATION YES! Columns for working unit and shipped are A MUST cause otherwise this is just a pipe dream.
1933  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Should i order a 5ghs asics from bfl on: May 19, 2013, 08:36:57 PM
buy gpus. you can resell. you can wet-your-pants game on em. non-existent bfl=fail.
1934  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I'm starting to get fucking pissed (BFL) on: May 18, 2013, 06:17:47 PM
Sell your preorder to a greater fool.

this is what i would do too!

In fact, i just might!
1935  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: tAPI-bot - Automated crossover trade platform for BTC-e on: May 18, 2013, 01:07:16 PM
What kind of finances are you giving the bot to play with?

I have not tried btc_usd but I have not had that error thrown with ltc_btc, ltc_usd, ppc_btc and had 10+ coins/$ in my accounts before starting the bot for testing.
1936  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How many hases can i get with this? on: May 18, 2013, 01:02:12 PM
If you REALLY want to mine (ideologically not financially) check out yac.

an optimized miner for x64 7 can be found here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=201027.0

YAC is not really worth anything, but thats the best bet with your hardware. OR maybe mine ppc but it will take forever to get a full coin.
1937  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: [POLL] Should Butterfly Labs (BFL) get a Scammer tag? on: May 15, 2013, 09:22:42 PM
Regardless of scam accusations, they need to ship soon or they will collapse under their own weight now that ASICMINER is taking open orders even though it's at 10x the amount.  Even though I don't have the money, I would rather spend 10x the amount instead of waiting an unspecified amount of time.

Agreed!
1938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: YACoin Windows 7 x64 [SSSE3 and AVX support] / x86 miner on: May 14, 2013, 05:54:13 PM
Intel i5-2400 around 150KH/s

Not too shabby. Thank you for this.

1940  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BlockBurner FPGA - Litecoin Miner - Forums Live on: May 14, 2013, 12:58:04 AM
That is a very well thought out and technical rebuttal to my pipe dream. Thanks for ruining christmas.

My (unskilled) thinking was that scrypt is ram heavy, ram is pretty cheap these days. Math, on the other hand, is not my strong suit. Thanks for the perspective and publically abusing limitless in that thread you linked to. Wink
