Do you have any lingering after effects?

Just mild malaise and fatigue, but probably not unusual consider what my body just went through.

The headaches were the worst of the lingering symptoms, and those ended a couple days back.

Yesterday felt like my first "normal" day since I got sick.

Glad to hear you are over it and have the natural immunity now. I got the Delta last month and had a similar timeline as you but with somewhat milder symptoms.

I was feeling great after less than 2 weeks but still had the urge to sleep a ton for the third week. Zero lingering effects after that.

Studies are showing the natural immunity to be superior to vaccines and I like knowing I have my sweet sweet bone marrow plasma cells lying in wait for any new variants that may come my way.  Cool

China, I was not impressed with your little concoction. You are gonna have to cook up something stronger if you want to take me out.

you think that China is reading this board.. Cheesy
I digress.

Constantly fiddling with retirement accounts structure is not very fair: first they give us the rules, then they change the rules as they see fit.
Now, apparently, $10 mil is too big of a number. Now it is kind of big, but it won't be in 5-10 years, but they would never INCREASE the allowance: witness capital loss of $3K that never changed since many decades ago.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/09/17/house-tax-bill-would-likely-force-peter-thiel-to-pull-5-billion-from-his-ira.html

Thiel would be fine by "busting" his 'income' to below $400K. Not sure what would happen if you are generally below, but then take lots of profits (or mine a lot) one year and you are suddenly above $400K. Would your IRA be immediately busted (if it is above $10mil) or not? My read is that it would be. 50% of value above $10mil would become immediately automatically withdrawn, and, of course, taxed at 39.6%. That would be true for IRA, but not for ROTH since Roth distros are not taxable (so far  Wink )

Have you lost your sense of taste or smell?

Did not lose either my sense of taste or smell.

Rick lost his sense of taste for a few days, however.

That said...are you an Apple or Android family?
jk....well wishes to both of ya.

ICP will apparently integrate with bitcoin.
https://cryptoslate.com/internet-computer-icp-will-soon-integrate-with-ethereum-founder-reveals/

Ignore the stupid title of the article since 95% is about bitcoin, not the 'other' main chain.
This makes it the second 'major' (by the VC investment sum  Cheesy) network integrating with bitcoin first.
Apparently, the advantage is that you won't need to hold private keys. Not sure how yet.

@jjg:

"sure someone like you, Biodom, remain so damned whiney about this whole BTC situation because you had never really been too bullish about bitcoin, including your somewhat whimpy allocation of a lump sum investment of around 20 BTC in 2015"

oh, my...that was just an EXAMPLE to calculate something.

"I am not even proclaiming that my 0.63 BTC stash competes with yours, but I am saying that I had been employing the proper, substantial and meaningful tactics along the way."

It's not about the amount, it's about understanding bitcoin mechanics beyond coinbase, binance, kraken account.
You seem to lack such knowledge and, therefore, whatever you say, you cannot possibly call yourself an expert and "slap" people around.
As I said before, you are in "not my keys, not my bitcoin situation"...only slightly better than mtgox.
Continue to accumulate fiat that is inflating at 30% a year as you please, but spare us the "big brother/sister talk"...at least most of the time.

A few more gaffes like this, @jjg 'girl',  and people might start to have more doubts about you.

If all you did was buying the ticket "bitcoin" on coinbase and 5 more exchanges and then exchange the former for USD, than I would say that peeps should hear NOTHING from you and slap YOU instead.... You are, basically, a fiat "person" (pretending to be a bitcoiner) with "not your keys, not your bitcoin" situation.

Jay, can you not recognize a Bitcoin address when you see one or something?

to a hammer everything looks like a nail...sometimes i wonder as he/she often talks about bitcoin in PURE theoretical sense, like about an immaterial idea.
Most people checked the software, mined or tried to, run a node, etc, but NOT him/her.
Hence the software (bot) suggestion, but i rejected it because it would be too darned faulty.
Albeit not recognizing a btc address (despite writing a couple 'dissertations' here about it) and not knowing that you cannot literally shoot the virus makes me go...hmmm.

are there any situations when having battery in, but phone off can affect anything?
A genuine question.

if the battery is in, some part of the phone is on, even if its just something that looks for the power button to be pressed. who knows what else could be powered but "dormant" waiting for some trigger.

no battery is the only way to be sure its really, really off instead of some kind of "soft" off mode.

I have a whole list of similarly hardcore user/consumer protection laws that I dream of. One of my faves is "Any data not strictly necessary to carry out the user's command sent out from the device by your program/app will cost you. The user gets to price the data by the byte. If you get sued (and be sure you will, there's real money involved), it's the laws and courts of the user's country that decide." This would include even benign cases such as an app checking for updates without the user's direct request.

A man can dream, right?

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
....And the world will live as one

But you should have $1000-$2000 on your phone  if you have a lot of $$ and they find zip on your phone it looks shady . They may go $5 wrench to unlock your phone and you do not have a dime on it.

My father-in-law owned a bar he went home with 3 bank rolls.

He would use 1 for the nervous thief
He would use 2 for the calm thief
and he had the third ready for the really smart thief

He never needed the 2nd or 3rd bank roll.

I understand the principle, but I personally don't have anything on my phone except pictures and emails, perhaps my online bank accounts (which still need a password), but no bitcoin or other crypto. That's not so strange I think.

I mean, if you get mugged and you have maybe $200 in cash on you, they will take your money and they may take the phone (which they will just sell anyway) but they're not going to bother finding out what is on that phone.

I take that one step further. I never keep anything important on my phone. Absolutely nothing to do with banks or money. No emails.  I delete all Whatsapp/Signal/Proton messages.

Yes, I use Mycelium to sweep addresses and then transfer the funds immediately to other addresses. Nothing is left on the phone. All phones are vulnerable. It's getting harder to find phones with removable batteries.

My SIM-card phone is an ancient Samsung Rugby flip-phone with removable battery. My Android phone has no SIM card and I connect it manually. Better safe than sorry.

good practice...less practical in some situations, but good nevertheless.
are there any situations when having battery in, but phone off can affect anything?
A genuine question.

a funny thing: SEC is not OK with people earning 4% on Coinbase LEND project, but, apparently, OK with Coinbase trading a shitcoin of shitcoins, where 100mil tokens cost under a thou.  Bwa-ha-ha

privacy nightmare ensues? is it a path to something undesirable?
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/facebook-exec-on-launching-digital-wallet-we-plan-to-earn-peoples-trust-173921742.html

might eventually kill western union and/or xrp, but with identification required upfront, btc might not be affected.
they say that they would not co-mingle, but everyone knows that they eventually WILL..in a version 3.1 by my estimate.

For bitcoin:
10X is attainable within relatively short time period (maybe 4 years or earlier as a spike)
100X is attainable over 10-15 years.

Overall, bitcoin looks like AAPL in Sep 2016 (coming off a peak and inching toward ATH).
AAPL did 5X the next 5 years. We could do much better.

I am making an experiment in reverse FOMO.
Found several stocks (not indexes) that were declining or flat for 20-25 years, BUT not going bankrupt.

I find it fascinating and invested in a couple..small change comparing to other things, but good enough to make some dough if these mummies revitalize themselves.
Why fascinating? Because they didn't die for 25 years and, superficially, remind me of the Apple's "dark period" of 1986-1996 when most people thought that it is about to kick the bucket (it's strange to think about it now when it is $2.4 tril in market cap).

The equivalent in crypto would be something like Grin, maybe, unloved and undernourished with a $27 mil market cap. Several NFTs were sold for more, lol.
I did mine a few when I thought that it could be interesting, not suggesting it to anyone.
I am not mining it any longer either. It seems as dead as a doorknob (at the moment).

Dear diary,

today two coiners revealed themselves among my friends/ex co-workers. The friend was my former boss, the co-worker his secretary.
The boss proudly told me, he's in "crypto" now, a fantastic thing. He was showing me his trading app and portfolio (what a noob, held only shitcoins), and said his secretary is his crypto-consultant. The secretaries base currency was ETH, he is into Defi as well. I wondered why the fuck he didn't invest in NFT already, but trying to sell a shitcoin that goes to zero is about as non fungible as a JPG of a rock, i heard myself thinking.
I said: Bitcoin? They said: Nah, man. No big gains here anymore. We sell a coin when it's over 150% profit and look for the next (shitcoin) to invest in.
So i asked about the taxes, and they said: Nobody cares. I wish they would know what they think "centralized" and KYC in terms of exchanges really means, but they seemed so obsessed about their "crypto gains", i didn't want to interfere in that moment.

The portfolio of the boss was down about 50% from its recent top. I didn't see or hear anything detailed about the secretary's portfolio, neither do i know how long he already was in "crypto" before.

So it's this time of the year again. I'm beginning to doubt my beliefs about S-curve adoption and should start thinking about liquidation target prices for a part of my stash. The next bear market is coming, and a big retail FOMO move to this cycle's top should lead it. It felt like 2017 all over again, but this time i will take some dollars to buy the 2023 bottom again.

-------

True story. Omitted many details in favor of OpSec.

A funny story..we could be 2-4 mo from the top, hopefully.
I "like" their lackadaisical attitude about taxes..maybe some tears will be shed down the road.

@jjg.."He's probably busy counting his many BSV coins..."

..and that's why you are classified as a middle school trollie.

btw, we are in the covid epidemic, so commenting in this fashion on those who did not post for a while...is cringeworthy to the Nth degree despite that members' line of thought about bsv (which practically NOBODY cares about anymore).

TL;DR
We are going higher this year: much higher.

I don't disagree, just wanted to point out that TL;DR is from @LFC..woonomic simply says: "Whales are opportunists...they do take the opportunity to buy when they see a strong rally ahead, like right now." and WW also states that we are in the middle of a bull run, although looking at his squiggly lines, nothing really jumps out to me, but, again, I am not a specialist.
