1961  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why did satoshi develop bitcoin in windows? on: November 04, 2022, 08:18:34 AM
This question cannot be answered well with the original author missing.  What can be answered is why you would develop on Windows in 2008 (as apposed to Minix, SCO, Linux, GNU Hurd?).

Windows has and had:
* The best market penetration.   To get more users of an application you can write it on Windows
* Wide range of development tools and software for development.

Rather than use Microsoft only frameworks, it takes some effort to use portable libraries and frameworks.  These days, Android is the new Windows.

That would be a VERY possible reason why Satoshi decided to build the first implementations of Bitcoin in Windows, IF it was not to do the extra steps to "pretend he's a Windows guy" and hide his real identity. He probably wanted a user-friendly UX/UI and make it more encouraging for ordinary users to run the software. There also was a poker application embedded in the client, no?

Also with market penetration there are a lot more places to go for friendly help then with a lot of other development. Doing a bit of over generalization but when asking for help when compiling stuff on Windows you get help from online discussions and other people. When asking for help when compiling for Linux you get 'didn't you read the docs??? it's right there on page 308'

Actually during 2008 - 2010, I have not known, or discovered a community of Windows Users who were developing open source applications in Windows, that also supported each other. Many among Windows users, it's always the customer goes to the vendor/developer if there are issues.

Quote

Also, with the market penetration Windows stuff just tends to run, with all the flavors of linux out there and the different install options sometimes if you want to give a fully compiled binary it takes more work to make sure it will run it all since you can't be 100% sure what packages were installed, but with Windows you know that every install has certain things.

-Dave

It will "tend" to run in Windows, but I believe not very smoothly especially considering that it's open source software. Plus it's harder to fix in Windows without the help of the developer.

1963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: <Bitcoin Creation> Dr. Craig Faketoshi Failed another Satoshi Test Again. on: November 03, 2022, 10:00:27 AM
But franky1, it doesn't matter if Craig Wright held Satoshi's keys or not, because even if he did hold Satoshi's keys, he still WOULDN'T BE THE ACTUAL INVENTOR of Bitcoin. It's not about who is holding the keys, because the keys cannot make someone assume another person's actual identity.

I guess that's true, but he could've at least received a good amount of legitimacy(hence more supporters) if he actually had the Satoshi keys and signed a message. But alas, he's all talk because he actually doesn't have the keys.

"Good amount of legitimacy" will be more subjective. I'm absolutely very sure that the Flat-Earthers in Bitcoin Land would celebrate, and continue the long con, BUT what if Carlos Matos of Bitconnect held the keys and signed a message, "proving" he is Satoshi. Would that also receive a good amount of legitimacy? I doubt that person could code the Alphabet.
1964  Economy / Economics / Re: Germans are looking to firewood for energy as natural gas prices soar on: November 03, 2022, 07:56:45 AM
I believe oil prices will also increase again if Iran's threat to attack Saudi Arabian oil facilities actually become true. They are currently in high alert in the Middle East.
Such an open attack with a pre-warning is highly unlikely in my personal opinion.
It was more like a warning to force Saudi regime to stop its support of terrorism and shut down its London based media outlet that has been organizing terrorism inside Iran.

More likely scenario is going to be an attack on Saudi energy facilities in at least a month from now by Yemenis whom Saudi regime is already at war with. Just like last time when "they" attacked Aramco and reduced Saudi output by more than half Wink

I believe it wasn't a pre-warning. It was actual intelligence reports gathered by U.S. spies/CIA and their Saudi Arabian assets, and possibly Mossad. OR, it's another Saudi Arabian oil price "manipulation scheme" again, planned and worked with bribed CIA agents. They will find different reasons to lower supply/production, and make the price surge back to above $100 again. Cool
1965  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🦉 Owl.games 🦉 Web 3.0 Crypto Casino & Sportsbook - BTC-Metamask-Walletconnect on: November 03, 2022, 07:43:27 AM
Owl.Games admins, do you have any arrangements, or any plans to give out "first deposit" and/or "welcome back" deposit bonuses to encourage both new, and old users to play in the casino? I believe that would help bring more players to gamble in Owl.Games, and bring back those regular players which every casino should attract. Plus small achievable bonuses for plebs like me with little capital for gambling would be welcome. Haha.

1966  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: <Bitcoin Creation> Dr. Craig Faketoshi Failed another Satoshi Test Again. on: November 02, 2022, 12:39:22 PM
He could easily prove it by moving a satoshi.  He chooses not to do so.

no no no
he is not satoshi.. end of story
he does not have the keys end of story

now to explain
he is not and has never had the identity or keys. its not a choice. its a LIE

Another funny Twitter exchange from Craig Wright, with Edward Snowden.

1967  Economy / Economics / Re: Germans are looking to firewood for energy as natural gas prices soar on: November 02, 2022, 12:23:20 PM
A friend texted my that the German government has given the approval to tear down a Wind Farm to build an expansion for a coal mine. The country's government is distressed in looking for energy alternatives because it's going to be winter, and also to remove their reliance on Russian Gas and/or Oil.

I believe oil prices will also increase again if Iran's threat to attack Saudi Arabian oil facilities actually become true. They are currently in high alert in the Middle East.

Finally, the admin allows to create new account so that I can enjoy the free spin reward for my wager. I just notice that the live game on the evolution gaming is not updated. The new freebet table that is not an infinity table style is not added on the evolution gaming of blackjack.fun. I can play this game on Stake and Duelbits evolution gaming so I think the casino is the one who will add it.

I enjoy playing last night and I hope to play again tonight if my health permits me to play again. Happy spinning and good to be back.

That's good news! It's also good to know that the admins from BlackJack.fun are taking care of their regular users!

Plus, blackjack.fun, has the change of slot-machine on where the free spins will ne rewarded from Dig Dig Digger to Master Joker been changed back to Diggy? Why? I believe Master Joker is a good slot-machine for free spins. It might be harder to win the bigger prizes, but you might get more opportunties to win smaller prizes.
1969  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Russia Emerge As The Next Dominant Superpower on: November 02, 2022, 11:15:05 AM
In my opinion, it is not nuclear weapons that make a country a superpower.  The Roman Empire was a superpower not because it constantly waged wars, but because it built bridges and water pipelines in the conquered countries.

A superpower is a state that is the bearer and conductor of progress and civilization.

When Russia conquers Ukraine, it will immediately build bridges and water pipelines there. And restore electricity to bring progress and civilization. Grin

Sorry, but it's actually "IF", not "WHEN". That's the purpose of NATO. As long as NATO exists, and its member-states don't change their alliances with Russia/China, truly "conquering" Ukraine will be a big problem. I believe there wouldn't be money, or time to build bridges and water pipelines simply because of "rebels" making Russia busier in dealing with disruptions.

Plus I want to hear your opinion about Nouriel Roubini/Dr. Doom's interview, saying that World War III has "effectively begun".

Quote
I was in Washington at the IMF meeting. The economic historian Niall Ferguson said in a speech there that we would be lucky if we got an economic crisis like in the 1970s – and not a war like in the 1940s. National security advisers were worried about NATO getting involved in the war between Russia and Ukraine and Iran and Israel being on a collision course. And just this morning, I read that the Biden administration expects China to attack Taiwan sooner rather than later. Honestly, World War III has already effectively begun, certainly in Ukraine and cyberspace.

I agree with Roubini's opinion that the third world war has already begun. There is a slight chance that when (if) the Republicans come to power in the United States, the focus of the United States will shift from foreign policy and fomenting conflicts around the world to the direct solution of accumulated domestic economic problems.

I believe it would be the same policy of finding conflict, but the shift would be away from Russia and more into the bigger threat of China. Haha.

Quote

But I try to look at things realistically and understand perfectly well that the current US course is also a kind of method for solving domestic economic problems, just not direct, but indirect (but no less, and maybe more effective). The problem is that a full-scale third world war is beneficial for the US (provided, of course, that the armed conflict takes place on the other side of the ocean, without affecting US territory itself).

THAT'S THE OTHER PURPOSE OF NATO! The European Union believes NATO exists to protect/secure them from Russia, but it actually exists to make sure that the war NEVER enters the United States.

Quote

Wars that are not beneficial to anyone do not last long and fade quickly. The conflict in Ukraine will continue for a long time and it may spread to the territory of the Baltic States and Poland. With a decrease in the number of combat-ready population of Ukraine, the number of volunteers and mercenaries from Europe and from all over the world will grow, ready to defend "democratic Western values" with weapons in their hands for generous pay. And Russia will have to methodically kill them all, it could take years.

U.S. Military Personel has entered Ukrainian soil to "inspect" military installations. I believe if any of them was killed caused by the Russian military, then that gives the U.S. military the signal to join the war.

1971  Economy / Services / Re: POKER COURSES FOR SALE on: November 01, 2022, 11:21:22 AM
~  it is as if we ourselves did not believe that things can be done well and better every day, it's like seeking continuous improvement, therefore we in poker will always be more and more interested in knowledge, so we will always be updating ourselves.

Right. And poker is one of those things that become obsolete after some time. Not very quickly, same strategies can work for years, but still after 10-15 years they may stop working. This applies to online poker first of all. You can use some ancient poker strategy playing in your neighborhood, and it will be working forever if your opponents don't use the internet to update their knowledge.

Does that suggest that the "Poker Courses" that OP is selling might be obsolete? Because why would those "masters"  share their secrets, unless they can make more money from selling them than actually using them? It's probably just the same with those unprofitable traders who sell subscriptions to teach plebs how to be "day-traders".

i just wondering how will they distribute the 40k fs.

Personally I wouldn't mind if BlackJack.fun admins decided to slowly give them to me at 100 spins per day, for the next 400 days. That's more than one year! How many entries would you get into Narnia through playing with Diggy 100 times a day? I believe that would be many entries. Perhaps more than two if averaged per day.

i just wondering how will they distribute the 40k fs.

There is no official information but some users in the chat room said that a total of 40k free spins will be distributed every hour
On normal day each user only gets 5 free spins if they send 5+ messages in the chat room but currently users will get 10 free spins if they send 10+ messages
That means there are extra 10 free spins every hour or 240 free spins every day X total users who claimed this promotion runs for 3 days
At least 60 users are required to claim 10 free spins per hour for 24 hours in 3 consecutive days, 10FS x 24H x 3D x 60 users =  43200 Free Spins   Grin

I was playing Craps, and also in the chatbox during Halloween because I was sick/stayed home. I didn't get more than the usual amount of free spins. Or maybe I didn't notice because I thought all the free spins came from the Hourly Wagering competition.
1973  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - How high can it go? on: November 01, 2022, 09:32:36 AM
Hi all,

I will continue to DCA into Bitcoin and hold till it reaches £200k minimum as anything less is not worth it to me.

Even reaching $200k gives us only 10x from current price and that can take years - with altcoins at least that can happen in months, that is why I am thinking of Altcoins too.

I am a only investing what I can afford to lose so will be interesting so see how Bitcoin performs compared to the altcoins I do have in the next bull run.

Understandable. If you're a "good trader", we plebs don't have the right to to discourage you because we would merely be stopping you from making profits to your maximum potential. But the fact that you're asking plebs like us for advice, I personally would give you the safest advice from my own viewpoint. HODL Bitcoin.

Plus you believe that it probably will take years for Bitcoin to surge to $200,000? OK, perhaps. But I believe, especially after QT, we would see Bitcoin surge the same way it did during 2015 - 2017.
1974  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - How high can it go? on: October 31, 2022, 11:59:24 AM
OP, I have been saying this over and over in the forum. SIX digits at the VERY LEAST during the next bull cycle, and some people would believe that's not very optimistic. Hahaha.

Although, I was proven wrong by the market when I thought Bitcoin would be at six digits during the last bull cycle, I'm very confident there are more bull cycles coming that would take Bitcoin there. When in doubt, zoom out.
1975  Economy / Economics / Re: Is recession coming actually? on: October 31, 2022, 10:37:02 AM
It's not coming, recession has actually came, and it's actually happening right now depending on what region/part of the world you're located. The United States is in an actual recession after going through two quarters of negative GDP, BUT they changed the definition of what a is considered a "recession". Why? Because it's an election year. The government needs to manipulate economic data and gaslight people.

Freespins!

Realwinner! We really missed you on the casino. Your long time rival Winner is already back in the game and probably waiting for a tough competitor to beat on daily contest. I just came back to have a glimpse on the casino and I notice that there already a new tournament that involves the bet quantity in hourly and daily basis.

I’m still can not dig because of my issue on my account but the reward I’m missing is very huge and I envy more you guys for enjoying all those free spins without a problem.  Undecided

That's true! I became hard to predict the winners of the Daily and the Weekly wagering competitions when RealWinner, and Mr. Brightside stopped playing in the casino. Although, there's a player called "winner" who has returned, and he's playing regularly winning the Daily and Weekly wagering competitions. Won 0.70 mBTC from my latest free spins! Thanks you BlackJack.fun. I have some coins to lose back to Craps. Hahaha.

This is a huge win from free spin mate. Do you post it already on the "Post your win" thread of Blackjack.fun on games and round board in able to received extra spin? It might win the daily contest because that's already a huge win which worth 50 free spin. I really missed to spin digger on the casino!

I'm sure Realwinner will get back soon once the reward system will be back to original prize. He is recently looking for new casino so probably he is busy already on other tournament.

No, I didn't take the screenshot again. I was very excited to play, and lose them in Craps again. Hahaha. Vadims the dealer was very atrocious yesterday. The Seven, also known as Big Red, always rolled. The people in the chat called him many names, "The Prince of Seven", "Vadims Bond 007". I know it's not the dealer's fault, but the chat was very funny.

Plus I want to ask the BlackJack.fun admins to make the confetti effect to be shorter when RoboRain tips everyone in the chatbox. It sometimes crashes Evolution games, and sometimes I can't click anything.
1977  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino games plebs like us must play on: October 31, 2022, 06:18:40 AM
Although, a warning. The house edge may be low, BUT there's still a house edge! Managing your capital is MORE IMPORTANT than the favorite game to play.

It's true every game on a casino has a house edge. That's how the casino makes money over time. Even poker a game which is only played against other gamblers has a fee that the casino collects for the infrastructure and services they provide for us to gamble. When playing blackjack we can influence the house edge with our strategy. The more optimal we play the lower the winning chances of the house. Unfortunately the best gambling strategy will still not make a save profit, there is anyways luck involved in the games. Blackjack is one of my favourite games as well and I managed to get some decent profits over the years. Having a optimal blackjack strategy together with a martingale approach is what worked best for me. If you are looking for games with a low house edge you can also play some dice and roulette, it's very easy to learn for new players and you can start with only betting on Black/Red or the 50% winning chance. The most important thing we need to focus on in the beginning is not to bet too large, if we face a losing streak the chances are high we could go broke. Better to start small and build a bankroll over time.

I believe the consistent winning gamblers would not call it simply as "luck". It is luck, but it's more complicated than merely calling it "luck". In learning Craps, I have learned that it's also about the skill of when to make bets larger on more favorable trends, and the timing. The Craps players call it "pressing". You press your bets if the trend is on your side.
1978  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino games plebs like us must play on: October 29, 2022, 12:36:56 PM
I believe if the games a person plays is always simple games of "gamble/games of chance" without involving any strategy, then those games could become uninteresting especially if that person always loses.

Indeed people play games according to their preferences.  Any games of chance don't have any successful strategy so why think hard to create a strategy that won't be successful in the end?  There is also this gambling point where our favorite or preferred game becomes toxic to the point we lost interest and even cursed it.

That just happened to me! I lost in 5.00 mBTC in Craps. The strategy I was using simply stopped working. BUT Craps is a game you can play using different strategies, and there are MANY different strategies, https://www.youtube.com/c/ColorUp

I'll try some of them next week after Halloween break!

Quote

Because what's captivating in playing a game like slots everyday of your life, for hours and hours during the day or night, without encouraging strategy?

Well playing without strategy doesn't stress our minds.  This is one good thing about slots if we are playing to entertain ourselves.  We accept the lose of money in exchange for some relaxing entertainment.

Understandable, if you explain it that way.
