welcome! Smiley

You are not the only one. I saw many people like you...who believe a gang. they lost their all their money, house....everything(if you want i can give you the link with a such story) because they were believers...
They believed these morons who are saying "Bitcoin is better than gold, its priceless". they are criminals, thieves and they deserve to be in jail. They ruin lives but they have big mouths on forums....

The gang = the big exchangers (all of them are fishy, unregulated), bitcoin foundation and another few "ventures".

they have a good propaganda by "selling technology" which is a real bubble. they manipulate the price. in short, there are a lot of money on table... Smiley

Also, they wrap the scam in a nice story. You just have to take a look to their media. everything is gorgeous, company after company is accepting Bitcoin. a lot of users are trading it ( 200K are using Bitcoin) up to 1 mil users overall. So, Bitcoin is far away of being something BIG. It's a tinny shit wrapped in nice words.

1983  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fake transactions in the exchanges again? Don't trust your eyes... on: January 16, 2015, 10:47:09 PM
Could someone explain to me how, technically, and exchange coud manipulate the prices by putting fake orders?
I can see how to fake the volume, but the price...

I could buy into that possibility.  I heard speculation that it might be due in part to Bitstamp trying to rebuy cheap coins to compensate for the stolen money owed?  If true, that could account for the sharp 24 hour decline, but still does not detract from the fact that it's been a half year bear market.   But certainly a possibility.

Even if Bitstamp finds a way to manipulate the price on their exchnage, how would they manipulate it elsewhere?

Easy, take the coins from cold storage and sell them on the other exchanges, sell fake database coins on their own exchange and keep enough real coin on hand for withdrawals and hope there isn't a bank run before you buy back the cheap coins after the panic crash.

correct. you have to be a child to think that the big exchangers are not related somehow and that they do not take advantage. they are a gang and there are too much money on table. they will push the limits as much as possible, they will earn a lot of money and then.... "who cares?!" Smiley

I have read a post here "The exchanges have an incentive to make their markets as fair as possible so more people will trade on them which would result in more trading commissions for them"

Tell that to MT Gox's victims. Remeber, MTGox was the BIGGEST exchanger ; around of 70% from market. "You" knew his face, you knew his identity, his office, bank account and "you" were scammed.

Imagine, that BTC-e (it's a random choice) has no face, no office, no identity...and you keep sending money to "them". After BTC-e will ran with your funds, you will start screaming : thief! ....even you knew from beginning what you are doing. Is it not a VERY strange community here? Smiley

1984  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Butterfly Labs (BFL) raided today by U.S. Marshalls 9/19/14 on: January 16, 2015, 09:54:35 PM
This BFL scam thing has been going on since like 2013, so if you invested still without hearing multiple thread warnings in the scam accusation and other areas plus service thread then thats unfortunate.

But 79 btc.. that shit makes me cry.

Yes it's very sad, I have been mining bitcoin since January 2013 with GPUs when they were trading @ $14 each & saving all of them I managed to save 100BTC. My extra bitcoin hobby earned me $10,000 it was amazing when the price hit $100/each. I'm not rich that was all my BTC + I went into a little debt to get 2 monarch. I thought it was the next best thing but instead It pretty much ruined my life. I was going to rely on the mining to live, I put everything I had into it. BFL held my bitcoins over a year as I watched the price soar over 1k and back down to $500. Meanwhile I started struggling to pay my way, I was left with nothing. It was tragic turning 30 when I lost my house on my birthday and had to move back in with my parents (lucky I have nice parents who were willing to take me back in or I would be homeless now). Life has never been the same after BFL, my outlook on life changed from happy go lucky to always depressed, I lost my job, sold most my possessions, basically the world has literally crumbled down around me. At this point I was pretty much losing my will to live. I had to rely on family & credit cards to buy groceries, pay bills, & buy back into bitcoin. I know I'm the idiot for buying stupid shit but I decided to save my 16BTC BFL refunded me... so now with the sinking BTC price lately I have lost even more money. I now have almost 30k in debts to pay off. Life becomes more of a hopeless struggle day after day. Hopefully BTC recovers soon  Cry thx BFL...

Bitcoin is a bubble, a high risk "investment". You never rely your life to a high risk investment. NEVER.

Bitcoin world is full of scammers and speculators. You seems to be a good person and you came into a "dark" world , full of "sharks" to make an honest business.
Well, here it's not like in real life. Unfortunately, you had to lose some money to learn that.

I recommend you to take a normal job and to rebuild your life.

I know it's not easy but I am pretty be sure that you can do that. You will forget about Bitcoin shit in one year....

Also, if you want to make a good thing, tell to others about that. Tell them to stay away of this "world" if they want to make an honest business. Bitcoin is not made for that.

The price will drop again Smiley

Why will the price drop because of this ? Also are these companies refunding the gh/s purchased by customers ? Or was that in the t&c's while people purchased the contracts  ?

because the miners are selling their Bitcoin shit in order to cover their expenses. Do you think that somene really need Bitcoin? They want the cash.
1986  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ross Ulbricht faces a potential life sentence starting tomorrow. on: January 16, 2015, 09:23:13 PM
child porn is non violent through internet too (also it's using Bitcoin)..... with other words, you agree with it... what mentality ! Smiley

I don't wonder why Bitcoin has a such a BAD press lately.

Ross Ulbricht created SilkRoad and earned millions from it by using BITCOIN shit. it's a fact.

Now, few mentally diseased people are saying that Karpeles is in fact the owner based on a testimony where a cover agent said "DHS Believed Mt. Gox CEO Might Have Been Silk Road’s Secret Mastermind"

Believed = FBI thought this thing BUT they investigated further and they found the real kingpin, Ross Ulbricht. That's why it's called investigation; to search for evidences.

Why would FBI arrest Ross Ulbricht and not Karpeles ? Smiley

Why would't arrest both of them if they are related?  It was very easy for FBI and Interpol to do that.

You really are obsessed with bringing up child pornography frequently, yet calling other people weirdos...? Please go away. Your arguments are nonsensical and rather creepy in nature

I quoted "The drug trade that took place on silk road (as well as trade that took place over similar darknet sites) was non-violent."

If drug dealing is not violent and it is accepted(as someone said), then let's accept child porn too because it's non-violent. it's a total madness what some people are saying Smiley

Drug dealing is violent. It brings death, it brings nightmares over families and it ruins lives.

1988  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Mt. Gox Willy Bot Effect Today on: January 16, 2015, 07:50:32 PM
It was China's "ban" that caused the stopping of buying for Bitcoin from the Chinese, and what made them buy in the first place was the constant uproar in price from the willy bot's buying. I'd say the "Willy" bot contributed to most of the run up, maybe 70%-80%, and the rest was everything else(People buying from the increasing Bitcoin price, Hype, china etc)

The only way Bitcoin could ever reach $1000+ again without the help of a bot artificially inflating the price, is if it becomes widely adopted, meaning millions of people are using it. As of right now, less than 1million people on this earth is using Bitcoin. That's very very small.

why would they use Bitcoin? Why would they trust fishy exchangers without address, identity, phone number? how can you trust your money in an anonymous system which is mainly used for black market and speculators?

yes, 500,000-1 MIL real Bitcoin users but the PR(propaganda) makes the people to think that there are millions over millions. Smiley
1989  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ross Ulbricht faces a potential life sentence starting tomorrow. on: January 16, 2015, 07:35:41 PM

The sentence will be in 2 months.

Are you looking for the total coins bought by people who speak Chinese?
Maybe you are talking about the volume on exchanges operated in China (with customers all over the world)?
No and No

Maybe you are talking about the CNY volume?
Yes

Because the country of China is where they were banned. They didn't ban Chinese speaking people in USA from buying bitcoin for example, so that would be irrelevant.

China will do what Russia already did. They will ban the websites and they will ban the exchangers accounts if they are outside of China. No chinesse will be able to send money to these exchanegrs.
Simple and efficient.

NO China, no Bitcoin
1992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin cold storage - HACKED easily on: January 16, 2015, 07:00:43 PM
it was proved that the COLD wallet can be hacked. once you are hacked, you cannot recover the bitcoin.

Yup, and normal people can easily pick up a handful of moondust, provided NASA takes them to the moon first.

or they can think : why would I use Bitcoin when I have fiat currency and other payment processors?

Yes, I can use Bitcoin to speculate a bubble but nothing more. Smiley
1993  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin cold storage - HACKED easily on: January 16, 2015, 06:55:38 PM
OP mostly FUD but good that people are aware of all the attack vectors.
Can't be too careful when it comes to large amounts of money.

If you are using electrum, I have published several utility
scripts in the electrum sub forum that you can use
to verify if the addresses and keys from your copy
of electrum are legit.

how can normal people use such script? Smiley  the normal people wants something safe and simple.

it was proved that the COLD wallet can be hacked. once you are hacked, you cannot recover the bitcoin.

1994  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is one problem with Bitcoin that is going to hold it back? on: January 16, 2015, 06:53:12 PM
Mostly the people who are runnign away with peoples money and not getting pursed by authorities. trade fortress for example.

unregulated market. don't you want that? most of the people from this forums are screaming that they want "freedom". well, you have it. do not complain about it Smiley

the authorities will tell you: "go to your anonymous system to recover your funds" Smiley

that means another 200K at this time.
1997  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin cold storage - HACKED easily on: January 16, 2015, 02:37:47 PM
What if your base os is compromised and you use a livecd whilst being offline to store the coins.....can this make you unsafe?

The only risk from what I see in the article is that if you use software to originally set up your wallet that actually originated from a criminal trying to steal your coins with this method, they could steal any coins you subsequently deposit.

They cannot hack a wallet that is secure. They can only put a backdoor in it when it was first created. And only if you use software that is not open-source and vetted by anyone besides the criminal.

Please re-read : "Even if the manufacturer (https://bitcoin.org/) claims that it runs open-source code, how do you tell whether it is actually running what you compiled?"
1998  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin cold storage - HACKED easily on: January 16, 2015, 02:36:08 PM
what you it seems that you do not understand or you do not want to say is that :

"Even if the manufacturer (https://bitcoin.org/) claims that it runs open-source code, how do you tell whether it is actually running what you compiled?" Verbücheln said.

with other words: MANY developers worldwide are working in their free time to a project, in this case, Bitcoin. That's why it's called OPEN SOURCE.

These developers can put anything they want INTO  the source code: ".... that some pieces of open-source code are so large and complex that even a dedicated community of developers may not detect a malicious addition."

So, COLD Storage can be easily hacked. Smiley

That is true for any open source project, even the Linux kernel.

TRUE. Also, remember Heartbleed bug and the vulnerability in the "bash" shell for Linux and Unix, Shellshock Smiley

2000  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN is going DOWN on: January 16, 2015, 01:53:27 PM
yes, the many merchants stopped accepting Bitcoin lately.

Bitcoin has a bad media now because it is related to scams, hacks, drugs, terrorists, child porn.

BTC is completely tied to these source of activities. It's not just used for them, it drops in value when these activities don't take place.

Remember Silk Road. The price dropped A LOT after SilkRoad was taking down.
