Rugby Union

Round 2 of the United Rugby Championship gets under way tomorrow. I'll be doing a few
bets and hopefully I can make amends for the disasterous results from R1.

I would pick the Sharks to beat Zebre and Leinster to beat Benneton but the odds are shockingly low,
Obviously Leinster being one of the very top teams its expected but Benneton should
get some credit after beating Glasgow Warriors last week.

So I'm going with 3 winners:

Glasgow Warriors to bounce back from defeat last week and beat Cardiff

Ulster to beat the Scarlets

and Munster to make amends from the defeat last weekend and beat the Dragons.

There is solid tournament going in Metz right now, just watching Hurkacz against Thiem to see how this guys are performing. Placed a bet on Thiem +3.5 since he already won 3 matches here (started in qualifiers) while this is Hurkacz first match indoors. Should be enough to cover the handicap hopefully Smiley

Later on we Have Medvedev vs. Wawrinka and I took Waw +5.5 for the same reasons. Hoping favorites have some surface adjusting to cover and these two heavy hitters getting back from injuries are ready for some serious tests.

Very small bets since those are very risky choices.

Hurkacz won pretty easily against Thiem and showed the quality and easily won. Your bet didnt win sadly and thiem is still far away from his big form but is slowly coming back but Hubi won. Also Medvedev is struggling with Wawrinka and saved already a match point and i think Wawrinka can win in this match.

BIG Upset - Wawrinka beat Medvedev

https://www.tennisnet.com/en/news/atp-metz-stan-wawrinka-throws-out-daniil-medvedev

Quote
Surprise at the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Metz: Stan Wawrinka defeated the title
favorite Daniil Medvedev 6: 4, 6: 7 (7) and 6: 3 in the round of 16 on Thursday evening.

That I didnt see happening, but the big question is what is happening to Medvedev? or is
Wawrinka making massive developments in his recovery?

Wawrinka now faces Mikael Ymer and is favourite, just about.

Interesting topic.
Obviously the aim would be target the highest quality printing process on an archival
type medium, something that is proven to last. From my photography days there were
papers available with a 100 year life span.

The printing has to be capable of super fine print, a $150 printer is not going to cut
the mustard!
2184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hodlonaut Trial on: September 22, 2022, 03:15:01 AM
Looks like bitnorbert agrees with my statement above about CSW's team failing by calling experts who agree with Hodlonaut:
It turned out that BDO, one of the world's largest professional services companies, weren't going to sacrifice their reputation for Wright. This turned into a major self-own for him.

Obviously I'm only reading things through the filter of Twitter here, but it does seem like this should go in favor of Hodlonaut.

snip

I realised when reading through bitnorbert's tweets that BDO as a witness for CSW was causing
more harm than good. The only thing they could question about KPMG's report was the processes
used in some of the results. They largely agreed with most of what KPMG found.

Those two very reputable companies while being called on opposite sides and agreeing on their
findings should paint a very clear picture for the Judge in ruling in favour of Hodlonaut.

I have mixed feelings about the 7 week delivery of the verdict, is it not obvious to the judge
of the above? then again its best to retrace everything which has taken place throughout
the trial?

To me it seems Hodlonaut put together a seriously strong case, right from day 1 the
points facts presented were big punches but the use of KPMG was a fantastic
idea, why hadnt that tactic been used before by Peter McCormack for instance?

Another great vid on the SquirrelBits Dane! As I posted in the YT comments I had no idea
about those projects so thanks for that.

Yea looking forward to the Polymerbit and hodlclub episodes. I can tell a lot of research
has gone into each episode so well done, as the saying goes "a lot done, more to do"

Over at Metz Thiem has beaten Gasquet in two sets and is into the second round to meet
Hurkacz. Interestingly Wawrinka is through also against Sousa. Two guys making their
way back from injuries/surgeries. Stan meets Medvedev tomorrow. Two tough opponents
for both Thiem and Wawrinka.

I will take 4 notes and 15 plastic holders if possible please
2188  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] "The United Decentralized Ledger" DIY paper wallet notes on: September 21, 2022, 06:56:57 AM
I would be interested in some of these. Is there any more into on them at all?

How many were produced? i would guess a high print run judging by the price

When were they produced?

Any info on the weight of paper?

and if it is by any chance watermarked?

None of those Q's are deal breakers, I want to measure some other notes to get some
extra sleeves!

I havent been to this thread for quite a bit and I havent been following what is going on
in El Salvador unfortunately. I thought it was still going to be full of negativity.

<…>
As a follow-up to what I posted the other day, it seems that the whole textbook is now available in the following links for anyone to download (in Spanish):

https://github.com/MiPrimerBitcoin/Diplomado_v3.0/blob/main/Mi%20Primer%20Bitcoin%20-%20Libro%20de%20Trabajo%20(V3.0).pdf

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/MiPrimerBitcoin/Diplomado_v3.0/main/Mi%20Primer%20Bitcoin%20-%20Libro%20de%20Trabajo%20(V3.0).pdf

I looked around for it the other day for quite a while with no results, but it seems that the ONG that’s behind the textbook has made it available today through its twitter account, encouraging people to download it for free providing there in no commercial usage of the book.

I am delighted to know firstly that a proper Bitcoin education plan has been rolled out
and in keeping with the open source nature of Bitcoin the text is freely available to anyone.

Good start NotATether.

There has to be facts and they will have to be verifiable to render whatever Greenpeace
are saying.

I think interviews with miners who are using renewable energy is a must in order to
shed a light on how they power their operations.

The key after all the content is sorted is to get maximum exposure.

SNIP

A month ago, I wrote this about a potential Grand Final match-up:

I watched the Broncos Vs Storm game from start to finish - the Broncos were playing the same as they were at the start of the season where I said I wouldn't back them any more.  I'd be gob-smacked if they made the Grand Final.

Increasingly, I'm seeing The Panthers Vs the Sharks in the Grand Final with the Sharks to win.  Week after week, they just get in and play a decent game.

...

If it's not the Panthers Vs Sharks, then it'd be Cowboys Vs The Storm (with Townsville winning that dust-up)

The Storm were beaten by the Raiders who in turn were beaten by the Eels who have to beat the Cowboys to then make the GF.

I'm thinking now that it's going to be the Cowboys in the GF and maybe the Rabbitohs, regardless, the Panthers Vs Rabbitohs game will be the one to watch this week-end.

North Queensland Cowboys - Parramatta Eels Money Line North Queensland Cowboys @ 1.68 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.168 mBTC

Nitro Betting doesn't have the Panther's Vs Rabbitohs game which is interesting - last week-end, they had neither knockout game.

It'd be funny if its the Eels Vs the Rabitohs...

I remember that post actually.

Based on normal seasons ladder its only fitting that 3 of the top 4 teams are in the semi's
and if we follow that logic it should be a Cowboys v Panthers. I know there is no logic
involved but I'm also going to go with the Cowboys and Panthers to reach the final.

I have the Panthers to win the title but I fear for their chances if they meet the Eels there
as they are the only team to have beaten them twice this season!
2193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: September 20, 2022, 06:35:44 AM

Also it might be the case that the next competition after the US Open was the Davis cup,
there may be a case where there is a different mindset being part of a team. Obviously
winning a first slam AND taking the #1 spot is MASSIVE so you would have to forgive
him for not being 100% focussed if that was the case?

Don't forget it is only the Davis cup; is there really anyone who cares about that anymore, even if it is in Spain. We will need to see how long Alcaraz can retain his number one spot but I am more looking forward to the Australian Open even though that will take some more months. After all, everybody always looks at the performances during the grand slams.

Hmm, well there doesnt seem to be much interest on the thread for the Davis Cup, I have
been making a few bets with mixed results, probably because the players arent taking
it 100% seriously IDK. Maybe now that the finals will ve starting and the end gets closer
they will focus more?

As Alcaraz gets more and more experience and develops his game, retaining the #1 spot will
be easier for him. He has fulfilled everyones prediction of
being "a future #1" he is there now.
2194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm seriously considering starting a website to stop Greenpeace's bitcoin FUD. on: September 20, 2022, 06:28:30 AM
Yes why not.

I think it will be a mammoth task and will take time and a lot of effort to get momentum,
but that shouldn't be a reason to not do it.

Everyone would need to get behind it and contribute in any way to it. I will as a start link
my own website d3fy.link to it to help with the SEO.

The info to counter Greenpeace's campaign but its not centralised in one go to place
and is hard to find hard facts so this initiative will be very beneficial.

I say go for it.

There probably hasnt been "hundreds" of threads already but there have been a lot exploring
all sorts of speculation regarding Satoshi's identity.

There are plenty of sites exploring Satoshi's identity, its nothing new and still Satoshi's identity

Funny thing happen, not sure if this has happen before, but recently, Carlos Alcaraz losses his first match since becoming the world number 1 to Felix-AA in the Davis Cup, 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-2. And the thing is, this match is on Alcaraz home country in Spain.

I don't know if we have someone who can dig the records of let's say Roger Federer when he become number 1 and who is his opponent and if he won or not in his first game, or any other newly crowned number 1 in the past.

not sure 100%, but I think that Medvedev lost his first no.1 match as well
it is not surprise to see that, especially in Davis Cup, although I expected more from Alcaraz, but FAA is also a great player too

playing under national flag should be something to chearish for tennis players, because it is a rare event, but somehow some of them do not even like to play Davis Cup

Alcaraz was probobly tired from playing and winning the us open so its expected that he dosent have much strength to play for national team at a top level. But still there is a chance if they win against Korea to advance into the next round in the davis cup

Also it might be the case that the next competition after the US Open was the Davis cup,
there may be a case where there is a different mindset being part of a team. Obviously
winning a first slam AND taking the #1 spot is MASSIVE so you would have to forgive
him for not being 100% focussed if that was the case?

Hi All,

All 7 prints have been despatched with tracking numbers.
I was thinking about whether to put a time limitthat sounds harsh on the 7 winners to
have the prints completed and sent back to me, what does everyone think of 31th of October at the
very latest? obviously you dont have to take that long.

Bit of a disastrous weekend of betting.

In the Rugby Championship I had Argentina to beat South Africa which didnt happen.
Final score was Argentina 20 - 36 South Africa. It wasnt a whitewash and the Pumas were
able to get 20 points against the Springbok's, might be closer next game?

In round 1 of the URC I had 1 from 3. Bennetton showed some quality to beat Glasgow Warriors,
I had forgotten that Benetton had won the "Rainbow Cup" last year.

And Munster were beaten by Cardiff and strangely Leinster were run close by Zebre 29-33 Leinster.

Rugby League

So its Eels and Rabbitohs through to Week 2 of the finals, Raiders and Sharks are out.

Week 3 (semi finals) up next:
Cowboys v Eels
Panthers v Rabbitohs

Panthers v Eels final Huh
