The Broncos were definitely on top of their game and I think the Panthers were relying on the statistics telling them they would win in front of their fans at home.  (the Broncos hadn't won at that ground in 14 years)

Unbelievable, that result was not supposed to happen. From what I read the Broncos
defense was very good.

I think that was a wake up call for the Panthers. They maybe thought they just
had to show up.

Sea Eagles v Bulldogs next, lets hope the Sea Eagles can continue their form from
the pre-season into this game. I have literally $1 left in my wallet, so a $1 bet at 1.55.

Sea Eagles did the job against the Bulldogs 31 - 6. Looks like they were in fine form
after landing at the tio of the preseason ladder!

After winning that bet I put it all back on the Cowboys to beat the Raiders. It was looking
very good at half time 18 - 6 but the Raiders came into the game in the second half. With only
a few minutes to go and the sides level on 18 points the Cowboys scored a field goal.

....although Scotland are a different team these days also. I remember when they were pretty much one of the worst teams in the Six Nations, but now they're looking one of the best.

Yea this year has been very good for Scotland, as you say England are not the team
they were a few seasons ago and of course Wales have regressed alao so there is a
void there and Scotland are filling it

Was expecting honestly more from Djokovic in this semi final but Medvedev pulled through and now it looks more like an easy win for him against one of the best. Now he has a match against Rublev in an all russian final and it might be intresting to see who will win.
Djokovic losing the match is completely unexpected. Medvedev have done it in the direct sets. It looks like Djokovic have certain game tricks where he used to loss the first set and makes a comeback in the next two sets. This time it hadn't worked for him. Medvedev at his best and the final will be more interesting as Rublev is a tough contender. I predicted Zverev will reach the finals.

Djokovic losing that semi final for me was not unexpected, I did say it could go either
way. Looking at the stats after the match the unforced error count was 38 for Djokovic,
12 for Medvedev.

It was a cracking match, some really great points scored. Medvedev was able to impose
his game on Djokovic and he couldnt deal with it.

So now we have learned that Djokovic wont have it all his own way this year!

"I just cant get enough Rugby"

Heh - with only four or five of us in this thread (and just Welsh, yourself and myself - the core three at that) I'm hoping any casual reader might jump in if they see their teams being mentioned every once in a while.

Yea I know we have had this conversation before, but I cant understand why this thread
is not more popular?

Maybe for the world cup we should run a dedicated thread for that?

Rugby Union had fallen under the spell of the nine network who have broadcast League in Australia for probably fifty plus years.  However, Rugby, which had been snared by nine only a few short years ago, has been moved sideways to Stan.  So, I'm agonising as to whether or not to sign up just to watch a random game each week.  ??  Not exactly value for money.

Quote
Ok so for tomorrow its all in on the Panthers against the Broncos.

I hope the Panthers pound the Broncos into oblivion.   Shocked

Nah its not worth it really.
I dont have any of my local TV channels and havent have for a number of years. We
rely on the UK channels to watch the six nations, and we try to watch every game.
Its frustrating though not being able to watch a game when you have the time
and or the want to.

Honestly, I'm quite surprised we're still favourites for the game. I mean, Italy have looked fantastic, pushed several teams close already this tournament, while Wales have basically been shooting themselves in the foot, and haven't really pushed anyone close. The English game being the closest, but that's not because we were brilliant, just England are also a team struggling.

I'd say the games probably going to be close, and we do have a chance of winning it. I just thought Italy would've been the favourites. Obviously, I won't be betting against Wales, never have, and I'm not going to start now. However, that's some good odds for Italy to win in my opinion, and any neutrals might want to jump on that.

Italy have been a bit of a revelation this season, they have indeed run teams close,
but I'm sure they themselves will have been frustrated after each game. They are
able to clock up their scores and are able to kick their penalties.

They have Wales and Scotland next, they will be looking to get a result from each for sure.
1445  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 02, 2023, 09:59:52 PM
This match is already over. Zverev won the match. Sonego has given a good fight to Zverev. But in the end, it was not enough to beat Zverev.

Yes, that was pretty confident from Zverev. His good first serve gave him the advantage this time and his backhand longline (Is that the correct translation?) is getting better and better. It is good that he has reached the semi-final. There he will meet Rublev. He also needed only 2 sets. I think it will be more difficult for Zverev against Rublev. But he can already be proud of himself that he has reached the semi-final.
Zverev just needs more matches under his belt and his confidence and game will return. Rublev is though oponenet but he will give something back and Zverev can use it. Much better for him than the other side of draw with Djoković and Medvedev where you have to earn every single point.

Djoković was vulnerable in round one but getting better and better as time passes, don't see him loosing this week.

He plays an in-form Medvedev tomorrow, I'm not betting on this one, I can see it
going either way myself!

Who ever wins tomorrow will probably win the tournament

Zverev indeed needs game time, he is slowly gaining back his fitness. Getting a serious
injury is such a set back in a season, not too bad when a player is young, they can heal
relatively quickly but with age that changes.

Remarkably Djokovic has been fairly injury free.

That is some record by Storm, I have gone with a 0.19mBTC bet on them for today.
Hopefully the Eels wont spoil the party.

As for the other games, I cant bet on any more, I'm all in now with some Tennis bets, URL and
the Storm one too, I hopefully will have some funds later today to make a few NRL ones.

Any new strategies for NRL betting this year?

Damn - my bet didnt go through this morning for some reason..... confused.com
They were nice odds too, I think around 1.78

Storm won in what was a a bit of a thriller with a Golden point try, 12-16.

Quote
Craig Bellamy remains undefeated in round one with the Melbourne Storm.
He won’t have experienced many closer scrapes than this. An exodus of experienced
players over the summer. A full injury ward to start the year. Coates crocked
during the match. Munster playing on with a compound finger dislocation. Two
players bandaged with eyebrow splits. The resilience and drive is something to behold.

That doesnt sound like a promising synopsis of team Storm at the start of the season.

Ok so for tomorrow its all in on the Panthers against the Broncos.

Lot 9: 0.0001

OP, there are some links not working and some pics not shown in your topic:

  • The link for "2) ONE Moonbits 2018 alloy/silver finish 1k bits (Loaded 0.001B) X1 (Donated by QuakerBull)" shows an invalid imgur page
  • The pic of lot 5 is not shown and its link redirects to an invalid imgur page
  • The pic of lot 7 is not shown and its link shows a blank pic on imgur
  • The pic of lot 8 is not shown and its link redirects to an invalid imgur page

Besides, can you add a better picture for lot 9? Actual pic looks like it's being taken with a Sony-Ericsson T610 Smiley Seriously now, I am trying to see the coin better but I can't distinguish anything in that pic...

Lot 8 doesn't have a pix as far as I'm aware,

I posted 2 images in the original donation thread which I think was overlooked.

Any new strategies for NRL betting this year?

I was thinking at the beginning if last season of just betting heavily on the Panthers
regardless of odds, that would have yielded me some nice profits.

Same again this year?

Panthers, Eels, Storm.

Wales need to abandon the kicking game, that's for sure. Our scrum half didn't exactly help things either, not sure I want him in a Wales shirt again, not any time soon anyway. Judging on our previous performances, Italy might be worth betting on. I haven't checked the odds yet, but I imagine the odds won't be too different for either team, whereas two years ago Wales would've been a 1.10-1.20 favourite. How times change.

Anyway, I don't expect a win in our current form, but we could potentially do it. I'm hoping so, I don't want the embarrassment of the wooden spoon, there's been a little too much embarrassment from the recent dramas surrounding Welsh rugby.

Kicking game v England didnt work, they should have been able to realise this and make
a change.

Italy v Wales... its going to be close. Wales look to be slight favourites ATM 1.88 v 1.78.

On Italy's form this season and how they have been able to rack up decent scores
and Wales 22 zone performance I can see an Italy upset.
1449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still believe in bitcoin? What's your percentage? on: March 01, 2023, 10:07:09 PM
If I believed in Bitcoin then, why would I not today? Nothing much has changed fundamentally in the first place. I'd still be owning bitcoin even a country as big as the United States would ban it.

Exactly!

Anyone who has been in Bitcoin for a while and understands how it works, what
it offers and its future will only have more belief. Nothing has happened to knock
that belief.

I think the OP is targeting others who bought the last big bullrun and are feeling a bit
disillusioned because the markets didnt keep going up.

I just spotted two more games in the USA Major League Rugby:  New York ($1.17) Vs Toronto ($4.60) and the second game is San Diego ($1.80) Vs New England ($1.95)  -  I'm only betting a dollar, but am going for the favourites again.   Grin

You did well on them, especially on San Diego, nice odds!

I would have to do way too much research to be comfortable on betting there.

Round 15 of the United Rugby Championship starts up on Friday. Only 4 more rounds
before the Finals.

There aren't many decent odds on really, I have 3 ATM:

Stormers to beat the Sharks @1.3
Leinster to beat Edinburgh @1.23
Ulster to beat Cardiff @1.42
1451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in Bitcoin by selling wife's jewelry on: March 01, 2023, 07:57:05 PM
First of all, its not a smart thing to share image of your wife's jewelry (some pieces stand out quite a lot) because you never know who is reading this.
No problem, I might sell all my wife's jewelery in a day or two.Talked to two customers and they agreed to buy jewellery.

At present I am forced to sell my wife's jewelery as I have no fiat money
And who exactly is forcing you?
It was only necessity that forced me to sell my wife's jewellery.
In 2022 I lost a lot on several investments, most notably $4000 worth of cryptocurrency during the Luna crash and $1500 worth of crypto during the FTX bankruptcy. So right now I don't have enough liquidity in my pocket to invest. So I am forced to sell my wife's hobby jewelry even though it is very difficult.

You made two mistakes previously, investing in $hitcoins and leaving your coins on
an exchange.

So your next move after selling the Jewellery is buy Bitcoin and a Trezor hardware
wallet and take full control of your investment.

On selling Jewellery for Bitcoin - do it, they are only material possesions.

We know gold is very precious metal, but Bitcoin is much more expensive than gold.

Correction::::

We know Gold is very precious, but Bitcoin is more Precious than gold.
1452  Economy / Speculation / Re: Expectations for March?! on: March 01, 2023, 06:38:33 PM
Traditionally March hasnt been the best "green" month for Bitcoin.

https://twitter.com/relai_app/status/1554144928959270912

Personally I think March will be similar to February, we might have some price pumps
but wont be anything substantial, still a bit early for the Bulls, but they are coming !!
Regardless of whether March is not so great to expect price hikes, in reality we still don't know.
I just don't think you should worry enough about short term price volatility because basically not everyone expects short term gains. Even if bitcoin can break below the $20K support, then that will only give long term traders and investors an opportunity to get one more dip to buy.

Just invest and hold on brother, it is one of the best options to prepare yourself for good benefits in the long term. I have had this belief from the start, and it should be shared by other users as well.

Just invest and hold on is indeed a sound plan at this current time. The thread
is already full of speculation but in the end the question was what does each of us
expect for March.

If we expect a green March best buy now
If we expect a red March best buy now

As regards dipping below $20k, its possible but $25k again is also possible.
Personally I wont be holding out to buy below $20.

I think that Alcaraz thought he might have broken Norrie when he won the first set. Great mental performance by Norrie as I guess nobody would have expected him to make a comeback. This could also be a sign that Norrie is on his way to have a great 2023. Beating Alcaraz like that when you are already down one set isn't something everyone can make happen.

This is probably his biggest win in his career so far besides the one he won in Indian Wells, but the lineup wasn't as strong there in 2021.
Eventhough Alcaraz picked up that injury he is actually playing tomorrow in the
Mexican open! It must not have been a serious injury?

Interestingly Norrie is also playing, which makes sense if you are already in that time
zone. As far as I can see they are both on the same side of the draw, definitely two to
watch at Mexico!

Over at Dubai Medvedev and Djokovic are playing today, odds are crap though.

Alcaraz's injury is probably not that serious. Otherwise, the media would have been mad already about it. I am not hearing too much about his injury from the media so far.

Medvedev did win the last match quite convincingly.

Novak Djokovic is playing right now against Machac. He is ahead in this match. So far Novak Djokovic has 1 set won and Machac has 1 set won. The play of the last set is going on right now. It will be interesting to see who win. I am in favour of Djokovic.

Djokovic had a bit of trouble with Machac, he only won the 3rd set on a tie break!

All the usual suspects had wins at Dubai, Medvedev and Felix AA, I watched the
match between Shevchenko and 5th seet Hurkacz, he just about beat Shevchenko
in the 3rd set tie break too.

There are some interesting matches over in Mexico, I have two bets on for later,
Berrettini to beat Molcan, Paul to beat Mmoh and Norrie to beat Mannarino.

Also Alcaraz plays McDonald with 1.41 - not bad but I'm not sure about it....
1455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time is the most valuable thing on: February 28, 2023, 01:40:42 PM
Time!
Our most valuable asset.

I am planning after the next halving to be fully free of work, I have been working the
day job for over 25 years and have very little to show for it.

The stars are aligning in my favour with inflation rising and Bitcoin halving approaching.

Bitcoin will gift me Time, I dont care about flashy things, that is for young people who
dont value time like older generations.

Take note though — bitcoin isn't the only answer. What specifically gave you time is an extra source of income; which in this case is bitcoin's long-term price appreciation. I personally don't think we should stop at buying bitcoin; try other things like starting an online business and such.

Its what Bitcoin can offer and the enlightenment of others
which strengthens Bitcoin
and we all benefit.

I will never quit Bitcoin.

I really did not expect Norrie to beat Alcaraz on clay. Norrie is upping his game, maybe a good dark horse to bet on in the upcoming RG?
We've got Doha next, let's see in what form will Đoković return.

Alcaraz started well in this match. He even won the first set. But Norrie made a really cute comeback in this match. He was able to get the next two sets.

For some reason, I think Alcaraz actually underestimated Norrie. Because otherwise I really do not see how Norrie comes out as the winner of this match. But it was the final.  And in the final, both participants are equally good most of the time.  It was a surprise to me but it is what it is.

Finally it was a win for Cameron Norrie in the Rio Open final match. From the first set the fight have begun and Alcaraz won the set 7-5. The second one was a win for Cameron Norrie winning 6-4, once again Cameron Norrie have won the third set 7-5 after good fight. As you've mentioned this match isn't a walkover and have outlawed the prediction of Alcaraz winning the trophy.
Really a surprising result because it is Alcaraz's favorite surface, in the previous tournament Alcaraz was able to beat Norrie with a convincing score and from the results of the tournament no one thought that Norrie would be able to avenge his defeat on clay tournament, watch Alcaraz highlights seemed pretty certain to get this title because the second set he was already 3-0 up but everything changed and it was amazing comeback from Norrie, what was interesting in the third set was that Alcaraz served under arm and it was good that Norrie was able to get a point from that.

Guys, did you even watch the match? Carlitos got and injury and it's really surprising he didn't withdraw (although it could be seen how painful it was). He won the first set, without any visible health issues (imo he moved a bit slower than he normally does) 7:5 but after that OMG. He was 3:0 ahead in the second and started losing literally point after point. Then he called a physio and it became clear something was troubling him. There were several moments in the match when it looked like he'd be able to turn the tide despite his injury and Norrie was a bit hesitant but still I guess Carlitos was in pain so he didn't succeed.

Anyway, we can only hope Alcaraz will be ok for the clay season and, more importantly RG.  Cool

We dont get to watch all the matches of all the tournaments, we are all in
different time zones!

Yes a bit surprising he didnt pull out, I read that he was having a heavy debate with
the team, im sure that was pull out or not!

A serious concern now ahead of two very important tournaments, Indian Wells and Miami.

I really did not expect Norrie to beat Alcaraz on clay. Norrie is upping his game, maybe a good dark horse to bet on in the upcoming RG?

We've got Doha next, let's see in what form will Đoković return.

Dubai next along with the Miami Open, thats where the majority of the big names are
playing.

Nobody was giving Norrie a chance, I thought myself that Alcaraz was back to old form
after winning the Argentina open against Norrie.

Looks like these two are level ATM.

Did anyone have a bet on Norrie at those very healthy odds?

On the WTA side I just saw some interesting news this morning, In the Dubai Tennis
Championships Krejčíková beat Swiatek in the final, what looks to be quite easily.
4-6, 2-6. That sends a clear message that Swiatek is beatable.

Have you guys seen the odds for Nadal in the French Open? He is currently $3.50 and the third favourite behind Alcaraz and Novak.

That is crazy. If Nadal is healthy he wins the French Open 100%.

Let's be realistic, Nadal has been injured for a long time and has not been playing at the highest level for some time.
Even when he was playing at the highest level and fully healthy, Nadal was losing matches to Djokovic in Paris so this prediction is not wrong, Djokovic is deservedly the favorite to win that GS.
It is also no coincidence that Alcaraz has been at the top of the tennis rankings for so long and he is the obvious successor to Nadal.
A very uncertain GS awaits us in Paris and I would say that the chances of winning the tournament are equal between these three biggest favorites, with maybe a slight advantage for Nadal if he will be fully healthy and ready.

With over 2 months yet to go before the French GS Its too early to be talking Nadal.
Maybe odds of 3.5 are worth a $2 bet now but I wouldnt be too confident especially
with the form Djokovic is in, and Medvedev being a bit of s threat and Alcaraz returning
to form.
