If you feel your S7LN is starting to wear, it's time to improve your ventilation, add more fans to extend your board's lifespan.

More fans? She's underclocked to 445m to get approximately 2Th and I'm struggling to keep the temp above 50c  Cheesy

You need to be clear what antminer you have an S5 or S7?

If you only have two pci-e cables coming from the psu and you need four then get molex to pci-e adaptor cables:-

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Trueway-Express-Power-Adapter-Cable/dp/B008AS7660

That way you can supply power to the other two sockets. It would be the cheapest option but may not work.

The antminer S5 draws 597w you haven't left yourself much room if you're using a 650w psu. You are putting the psu under a fair amount of strain and it may well be struggling to maintain the constant power draw. Bare in mind if you have it overclocked then the psu you have will not be enough.

EVGA do good psu's I used to have a corsair rm1000 but changed it to an EVGA Supernova 850 P2.

You'll need a 700watt or more psu really for the S5. You are cutting it a bit close to the psu limits with only a 650w.

Most psus reach peak efficiency at approximately 50-60% load but it varies on manufacturer.

Yes I'd imagine it's not getting enough power. What PSU are you using?

Hi there.

Please help me to restore original bmminer. Unfortunately can't use miner without temp monitoring, so will waiting for that.

But can't understand how to downgrade cgminer...

Thanks

Can you not just flash it again from the file on bitmains website under the "support" section?

Sure, but there are no firmware for S9 miner

That might pose a problem  Huh

Spoke to soon. It's stopped again. Looks like I may be breaking this for spares and giving up on the mining aspect unless someone has a spare S7LN board as I'd prefer it to have the larger heatsinks.
Are you sure the temperature is not dropping too low? I found that even an unmodded S7-LN likes to drop boards if the temperature goes below 52C. I have my fan on manual in order to keep the temperature between 56C and 60C.

I didn't know that. I will power it off later and restart it and close a window and see if I can get the temp up. Could well be that.  'Thanks for the suggestion.

Could it simply be that you've bought it secondhand and it's been run to death and have the chips are dead?
2210  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: My cooling strategy/suggestions needed on: October 02, 2016, 04:49:13 PM
Not quite sure why you've got the cold air exits just venting into the room. Why not have them venting to the face of the miners on that side of the room and all the miner exhausts pointing towards the opposite side by the room exhaust fans?

Inlet (no dehumidifier, low level) --> Ducting split to each cabinet/miner --> Miner inlet --> Miner exhaust --> Ducting (optional) --> Room exhaust mounted high on wall

As said already you want the CFM to be as equal as you can get it between the room inlet and outlet.

Well took her apart and couldn't see anything wrong. Thought id move the ribbon cable over to the other spare socket on the control board (which is marked as an S5+ Control board) and what do you know its working again. Thank god for that. Didn't fancy getting a spare and having to do the mod that sidehack did (its a little out of my comfort zone).

Thanks HaggsFIN.

Its shame as its a sidehack modded one. Ill have a look at it later on and see what I can see. Im hoping a cable swap or a hard reset will sort it. A reboot didn't do anything  Undecided
2214  Bitcoin / Hardware / Are S7LN and S7 hashboards the same? on: October 02, 2016, 09:53:34 AM
Hi everyone,

Well my S7LN has decided to drop a board. Just stopped working all of a sudden. Havent had a chance to take it out yet and inspect it but got to think of the possibility of a replacement.

So are the regular S7 boards the same as the S7LN boards?

Thanks.

They are good. 1.2a per port is the rating for it so it's good for USB miners. It's not the prettiest of hubs but I like the bare look. Hence why the Pi is out of its case now.

i have to do another fresh install of minera or something my pi wont boot right now so im just using the pc cause its mining with the video card so figured i would do the sticks on that pc for now

Haven't used minera. I just use the gekko version of cgminer with an auto run bit if it restarts for any reason. Works well and haven't had an issues with it.

so are you just running raspian jessie or something on the pi...

i tried on the pc running ubuntu 16.04 LTS and 14.04 LTS and also 14.04 server command line only

Yep just using the raspbian image straight from the raspberry pi foundation website.
