Correct me if I'm wrong both of you:

Poker Player, if you want to add a timestamp to your message, I suggest that you incorporate the block number and the nonce from the last mined block into the message. When you publish the signature/hash of the message, you also publish the block number and nonce that will be in the message. That way, you will have another provable way of confirming when the message was created.

I understand that would confirm that the message was signed at least when that block was mined or after, and not before, but it could have been created after.

Do make sure that the post is / won't be edited; that's just one thing I'd try to make sure of. Or someone archive the page just in case there will be doubts in the future.

That can be seen in https://loyce.club/archive/posts/ and some other page. Messages are automatically archived when they are created.

Note: I had posted this message earlier but forgot to put "Signed message will be revealed on 10/31/2022" outside the message. I thought it was better to delete it and post it again rather than edit it.
2522  Economy / Reputation / Re: Royse777 is Casino Critique on: October 30, 2022, 07:54:41 AM
Oath breakers, fallen angels, back stabbers, anonymous executioners, negative trust ratings going in every direction like firing a machine gun…
I can't stand it when statements like the above are made, because they always leave me wondering whether I'm being included in that broad set.  I didn't break any oaths, nor do I think I stabbed anyone in any part of their body.  Maybe I'm just one of those soldiers in a foxhole sniping here and there but generally just trying not to get in the war all the way.

And I hope he is not referring to me, for I did not break any oath.

Actually, now that some time has passed, I think that hiding who was behind Casino Critique was wrong, and there were many of us who knew it.

People like NotATether, who said:

I was ready to invest 0.04 BTC with Casino Critique. I probably would not have had the confidence in doing so had I known that it was Royse777 raising the money, with him being fresh off the heels of the BitLucy snafu and all, with him saying he needs some time to cool down from it.

had the right to know.
2523  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling house responisbilty to protect people data on: October 30, 2022, 04:57:48 AM
Do you think gamblers should take the help of courts in this case ?

Your question is so generic that if you don't specify further I don't even know what to answer. It will depend on many things. Is it in the ToS? If it is in the ToS it is not going to do much good to go to court.

I think this is more typical of crypto gambling houses, as I am not aware of it happening with fiat ones.
2524  Economy / Gambling / Re: The History of Poker on: October 30, 2022, 04:39:43 AM
I didn't know much about the history of Poker either, although I imagined that it had evolved over time, like other card games and life in general. The evolution that I have come to see was from classic poker or 5 Card Draw to Texas Holdem.

Those of you who like poker stay tuned because I will open a thread in Games and Round giving a prize for the best hand analysis. I was planning to do it at Christmas, but maybe I will do it sooner.

-snip

It is not clear to me if that is supposedly a story that you knew first hand, because you do not put sources and you could have invented it, but I have heard similar stories from quite some time ago.

Nowadays there is not that much of a problem, what you have to do when you share a lottery ticket is for the one who has the ticket stub to send a photo via instant messenger to all those who share the ticket, as it is considered evidence in court.

That way, Charles could go to the police or the court and report Kelvin.

I just opened Electrum to post the full message, but I don't see like a signed message history or anything.  Huh

I don't believe in perfect strategy in gambling, by the end of the day your luck will decide if you win or not. House edge and strategy can be a factor, but overall luck is a big part in playing in casinos

You, like many, don't seem to understand the difference between short term and long term gambling.

In the short term you can have positive results. Go to the casino with $200 and come out with $800, for example. But in the long term the HE is everything, the more times you play, the larger the numerical sample, the closer your actual results will be to the expected mathematical results, and these always consist of a net loss.

Fuck you all 😘
Maybe you thinks it's complicated hearing those complicated words encrypt/decrypt 😂
It's meant to be easy but not sure why you think it's complected LOL
Load precipitants public key and sign the message. You need only recipients public key. It's as simple as sending an email.

I actually used that once like three years ago. As far as I can remember, it wasn't complicated. But what's the difference in terms of security?
2529  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Two Gambling Stories on: October 28, 2022, 03:08:31 AM
What kind of story is this? People always surprise me with their rare stories.

These are exceptional, extremely improbable stories that fill the headlines of gambling related sites.

Story 1
A man stole his girlfriend's 10k to place a bet. He won 100 million and returned 10k to his girlfriend. His girlfriend is furious and demands 40 million dollars.

You have to think that we are talking about Nigerian currency, Naira, and that the 40 million is about $100k, so it is more understandable. I think if I were the girlfriend, I would report him for theft if he doesn't agree but overall I find it pathetic.

Story 2
An apprentice who won 16 million naira on BET was asked by his boss to split the money into two parts. This 50 - 50. As the story goes, people sided with his boss, and he had no choice but to comply. It's important to remember that the money used to bet belongs to the apprentice, not the boss.

Well, if I were the apprentice, I'd tell the boss to go fuck himself.
2530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How can this be done? on: October 28, 2022, 02:58:22 AM
Option 3: Use your PGP key! It's more secure than any of the options above. Here is how I will do it.
~
This is overcomplicated and unnecessary for the case described by Poker Player.

I was going to ask, what is the difference in terms of security? Like 0,001% of being hacked if I use a signed message and 0,00000001% if I use PGP? Because in that case I would use the signed message, which seems to me more simple, although I find it quite interesting the different options. (I just used random numbers)

Let's do an experiment:

2531  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Your motive for giving on: October 28, 2022, 02:40:24 AM
So, there should never be a reason to give! as the slogan says; " Just do it".

In this regard I have been thinking that there are indeed motives in terms of political ideology.

Normally, someone who is left-wing tends to think that it is the state through taxes that has to collect and redistribute wealth, so that in an ideal, perfect state (which will never exist) no one would be poor.

I don't want to say that it is impossible to be a leftist and give money to charities, etc, but in general I would say that the percentage is lower because of the above explained and more if you live in a country where social democratic policies are implemented, like Denmark for example.

My reason for giving is that it is a good action in itself. I don't have to think of complicated arguments to justify it.

Another thing I have thought in this regard is that it changes the way you are in a positive way. The moment that donating money becomes one more item in your monthly budget like paying utilites or groceries, and you think of other occasions to donate money to the extent of your possibilities, you are moving away from the selfish part that we all have.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5387753.msg60022386#msg60022386

As I commented in a thread in Meta, I am thinking of giving a prize for the best analysis of a poker hand.

As an analysis has a certain component of subjectivity, I would like to make clear the criteria I will use without revealing it.

That is to say, in the OP I will explain what is central to the analysis, but the criteria for evaluating the best analysis I would like to leave it written down somewhere in an encrypted manner if possible, as in a signed message that cannot be deciphered until a later date, if I understood correctly what LoyceV did.

That way I could not be told that I have given the award to whom I like or dislike, but on the basis of objective criteria, written and encrypted in advance.

2533  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people withdraw their generosity during crisis? on: October 27, 2022, 11:58:47 AM
You ask a very generic question but it seems to be based on individual experience. I don't know what your particular case might be, but I have been able to increase my generosity in these times because I did things right and as a result I have done well financially.

Yours seems to be a particular case of someone who has let you down, and without knowing both views it is difficult to give a diagnosis.

2534  Economy / Gambling / Re: US players, where are you playing now? on: October 27, 2022, 10:35:14 AM
I was surprised recently to learn that there are still many states in the USA where gambling is illegal.

More than 10 years ago it was also illegal to play poker for US citizens, although most online houses turned a blind eye, until April 15, 2011, when the DoJ " issued an indictment against the three largest online poker websites in in the country: PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker. Immediately following the indictment PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker, who generated the majority of online poker traffic, stopped offering players the chance to play for real money, effectively halting the poker boom started in the early 2000s and jeopardizing the livelihood of thousands of American poker players."

I guess a puritanical mentality has a lot to do with the fact that online gambling is banned in many states.

The best thing they could do is to legalize it throughout the USA with proper regulations and open it up to the world market.
2535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling techniques on: October 27, 2022, 07:53:35 AM
It's a martingale, like what the other members have said. It just seems to me that you are not aware that it was always a gambling strategy, and many people have won and lost using that strategy. It would help if you were careful about what you are doing because you might regret using it when it doesn't go in your favor in gambling.

You are right. This is exactly what I was talking about in a thread on Meta.

As for my strategy playing poker, nowadays it is based more on winning by NSDW than in the beginning, when I was winning by SDWs. Back then when there was a lot more fish and even the regulars didn't know how to play that much, just by raising strong hands, betting for value and not getting into problem situations it was easy to win. Much easier than today.

Nowadays if you don't steal like crazy and balance ranges you get eaten.

2536  Other / Meta / Re: The Reason why you chose your username on: October 27, 2022, 07:28:14 AM
In my case because obviously I play poker, online, for more than 10 years and although I am not Daniel Negreanu obviously when I had to choose the nickname I thought of "Poker Player". What surprised me is that this nickname was not already taken. Then when I saw how big is the gambling section in this forum I was even more surprised, although I think most of them play casino games and believe they can win long term with garbage strategies rather than playing games where the expected value of the bets can be positive (or have an RTP greater than 100% if preferred).

2537  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A new prime minister and Economic Crisis on: October 27, 2022, 07:02:13 AM
No, that's not what I said. Plenty of Conservative voters voted remain. Equally plenty of Labour voters voted leave. I'm talking here about leave voters (regardless of Con/Lab orientation) being racist and having difficulty grasping simple concepts. I'd argue that were Labour to elect a non-white leader, then many of the Labour voters who voted leave would be outraged (albeit more so if Labour were running the country).

Well, but whether it is one thing or another, we are in the same: about 17 and a half million voted leave.

I have said in other threads that in my opinion the Brexit was a mistake.

But that there are 17 and a half million racists and nincompoops in the UK seems to me too high a figure, and, although I'm sure you don't mean 100%, you do mean a high percentage.

If that were true, it would certainly change my opinion of the average UK citizen, as I think that in any civilized society the percentage of racists is clearly below 10%.
2538  Other / Meta / Re: See this burst poster here. on: October 26, 2022, 03:46:20 AM
Actually if you just open this particular board you can see that he already has like 5 topics.  Tongue

I've reported that post you are quoting as 0 value post. Either he has not read anything or he has not understood anything, and it seems to me that it is the former.

And the next day, that user made no posts at all. Coincidence? Up to you to decide!

The point is not so much to decide anything as it confirms my suspicions about him being a burstposter. He writes 25 posts in one day and the next day none. I'm even thinking of putting him on my ignore list.

On a more serious note, I think a few of us in the thread have agreed that burstposting in a negative sense is basically linked to low quality posts.

People who spread their posts over at least 5 or 6 days a week, and whose posts have a certain quality, even if 30% of their posts have an average separation of 10 minutes between them cannot be considered burstposters in a negative sense.

Another thing is the particular rules of each campaign. For example, mine counts a maximum of 5 posts per day. It is a way to make sure that the minimum to get paid is going to be written at least in 4 days. Another thing is that I write more posts in this and other campaigns that I know I will not get paid.

2539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I won 9600$ in dice by mistake with 2% chance on: October 26, 2022, 03:29:08 AM
I already commented in another thread that I am not surprised by the OP's nickname, because he is clearly what we call a fish in poker. Someone who is easy for us to win but who thinks he knows how to play a lot and on top of that he gives you lessons at the table. Just take a look at his post history to know what I'm talking about.

Fish have lucky bets, as in this case, sometimes even lucky streaks, but they don't last long and they end up losing everything. I bet that the OP will not take long to deposit, in that or another site and lose everything and more.
2540  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will This Habit Lead You To Chase Your Losses And Addictive To Gambling on: October 26, 2022, 03:17:38 AM
Do you think it's unhealthy to always post your winnings on social media and forums because this habit will lead you to chase your losses and bet more so you can post your winning, I find this habit forming and this is bad especially if people are following you and always looking forward to your winning posts.

I think it is stupid if you do it on social media, unless you make a living from it by being a gambling Youtuber or something like that. On forums you are more anonymous, so it makes more sense. I see more advantages than disadvantages. It is one thing to answer a specific thread on the subject, but to give an account of it as if it were the income statement of a company does not make sense. It is better to maintain privacy.

Sometimes it's normal to be proud of your winnings because it can give you joy and satisfaction.

I think this is human nature where always proud for his achievements,

Are you aware that, with very few exceptions, the results of casino games do not depend on you? It's like being proud of rain or shine.
