3302  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Netflix's Money, Explained: E04 Gambling on: June 16, 2021, 05:23:48 AM
I used to mentioned about this so called 'gambler's cycle' where a person, regardless of he/she wins in a game, will most likely bet again.

The explanation for this stems from the adrenaline of a person when he/she wins. You get to feel the excitement of winning the bet and you also think that you would win again. In addition, gamblers who lose in a game will most likely bet again since he thinks that he would be able to recover his losses from betting again.

This 'hook' that you stated maybe falls in the explanation above on why most people tend to stay longer at gambling industries. This is a good read and I will heavily consider watching this show. Thanks for this!
3303  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: THEHUMANITYCOIN.COM --Fake team. Generated photo. on: June 16, 2021, 04:00:09 AM
They should have just combined the two cool names into one, because I don't know about you but I would definitely invest in an ICO led by someone named Maverick Conscience. He does things his way or the highway! He may be an outsider but we like his gusto.

Here I found some more Team Members™.

Tad Hole, COO

His brother, Gary Hole, CMO

Dude, I am seriously hoping that they missed the opportunity of naming one of their member as "Ash Hole" and I would believe them straight up 100% that they're legit hahahaha.

Jokes aside, it is 100% obvious that the person created this project did not think about the consequences of having to name people with such generic words. In addition to that, the fact that they posted a computer-generated AI photo makes it ipso facto a guaranteed scam on their end.
3304  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does implementing a tax on a gambling platform really help a country? on: June 15, 2021, 11:30:39 PM
Yes, it does. Anything that involves the taxing of an establishment or a specific activity generally helps the country as it serves as the revenue for the expenditure of a country.

Like what some have already mentioned in this thread, tax contributes immensely to the economy as it enables the government to pursue their economic activity through the revenue garnered from the tax. Without any tax gathered, this would limit the expenditure and creation of projects by the government that could improve the lives of the country. But, there are requisites to the taxing power as it must be fair and equitable in order to prevent any chaos and abuse from the government.

Of course, this is the ideal concept of tax considering that the government fulfills so their duty to its citizens.

"The power to tax involves the power to destroy.."

3305  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's the motive behind the anti gambling campaign on: June 13, 2021, 11:00:02 PM

Everywhere I look, all I see are negative comments made about money lost gambling. Mental illness associated with gambling and anything that can illustrate gambling in a negative light.

As someone who considers themselves to be a profitable gambler. The trend of covering only the negative side of the industry puzzles me.

Why is there never mention of the winners.

You know why? Because, only 13-15% of the gamblers win on a daily basis as compared to the remaining 85% lose often.

Gambling, just like any addiction, is associated with countless of risks especially if one lacks the necessary discipline to prevent them from going down that rabbit hole. The negative effects of gambling has caused a disruption in the society where people try to discuss the problems as much as possible to prevent other people from going down this hill.

That is the reason on why most people talk about the negative effects of gambling due to the number of people who experience loss.
3306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you received a call/text recently from a friend/fam asking about Bitcoin? on: June 13, 2021, 10:04:57 PM
Was just kind of curious if many of you also tend to get random calls or texts every time bitcoin goes on one of it's runs from family/friends/acquaintances asking you about bitcoin/how it works etc.  I'm also curious if you're getting more calls/texts this time around, or about the same as other rallies?

I remember back in 2017 when I first joined the forum (1 btc = $5,000), I tried convincing my mom to purchase at least 1 BTC but she disregarded the idea and called BTC a 'pyramid scheme intended to collect profit from businessmen.'

Looking back, every time we have a discussion about the value of BTC, she slightly regrets for not taking my word before but I wouldn't blame her to be honest since I think I would most likely do the same thing if I were in her position at that time.

To cut thing short, every time my friends and family have a question about BTC, they always shoot me a message and I try to at least explain them the skeletal structure and the blockchain system.
3307  Other / Off-topic / Re: Slapping Tournament on: June 13, 2021, 04:22:32 PM
Was this considered as a sport? this looks like it's not a sport to me but of course its a competition for sure there's a betting here they will not hurt each other just for fun. I don't think sports betting website will include this to their list of games or sports. I think those you see were just an advertisement of that website but no one's for sure I haven't visited the website yet and haven't checked if they offer it on their website.

I think we will have much more versatille betting websites that will not only be focused on sports, rather on anything that can turn a buck. Then we will see more competitions being opened up to betting. We'll all be surprised on what people will be able to come up with.

This may be off-topic but I highly suggest watching and including arm-wrestling videos as such sport is definitely underrated. Unlike any group and solo sports available, the slapping tournaments are highly entertaining and intriguing. This is what separates this from other sports since what you need to develop is your muscles on your face.

I also do think that in slapping tournament, the fatter the person is, the harder his slap would be compared to a fit man. The raw strength and power that they have will make any skinny man fly away to the room after one big slap!
3308  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: THEHUMANITYCOIN.COM --Fake team. Generated photo. on: June 12, 2021, 11:05:56 PM
I am posting for someone else. This has caused my account to be flagged. can I remove this link and will it remove my accusation ?

I think that before you endorse a project in the forum, you should have thoroughly reviewed and checked their website for possible accusations. In addition, you should have also indicated that you were posting this for someone else so you could at least have a reason for it. But, it is your responsibility as the thread manager to check all the errors in the project. Since you were the one who advertised it, you bear all the consequence surrounding the project that you posted here in the forum.

At most, I do think that the negative trusts may be changed to a neutral trust but the flag cannot be deleted. Still, I think you should be held accountable for this wrongdoing.
3309  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What prevents someone from "giving" themselves more Bitcoin? on: June 12, 2021, 10:50:05 PM
Imagine having a gigantic cookie jar with lots of cookies inside made with specific ingredients (let's say a chocolate chip cookie). Since each person is allotted this gigantic cookie jar, let's assume you put another cookie there but the one that you put is an oatmeal cookie. The other people with the same gigantic cookie jar will see your oatmeal cookie which is different from what is originally stored.

Same concept, the node that you are changing is only for yourself, and not what is stored in the database. Upon verification, this would be invalidated by hundreds of thousands of miners UNLESS you give them the same oatmeal cookie  as the one you have, which I believe is impossible.
3310  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why risk management is so important for Every Trader. on: June 12, 2021, 10:24:44 PM
Besides, beyond all that the OP has stated in respect to risk control and money management is the issue of "Patience" and "Emotional control". I will go with the trader with a 1/5 risk to reward ratio even though the win rate is small. What that means is the trader will tend to be more selective of trades to execute and not just be in every trade.

Just like by trading stocks, there are certain indicators that will help you decide on whether to pursue a trade or not. You must indeed have, a risk control management in order to get out of the stock before the value plummets down in the market. But in reality, it is easier said than done as these indicators are not absolute information that will give you 100% knowledge.

Trading stocks or cryptocurrencies involve risk that one should take into consideration before delving into it. There was a published article that 97% of day traders lose money in their first month of trading and the other 3% make money, LINK, as much as a bank teller.
3311  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why the martingale system sucks! (doubling down on losses) on: June 12, 2021, 09:51:10 PM
While I do agree with some points that you raised, I do think that the Martingale system works for some people but its main purpose is not for profit, but for the realization of a quick recovery from losses.

Realistically speaking, the Martingale system requires a huge amount of capital in order to at least work because it will definitely eat a chunk of your money due to its exponential growth bet per bet. However, what separates this system from other systems is that the recovery that you made after a losing streak can be gained after a single bet. Some people use this system as a 'hail mary' kind of shot where this will be their last resort.
3312  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] Widecoin - Fake Team (stock photos) on: June 11, 2021, 10:56:26 PM
It is normal for image usage via the website or social media. It has been using to fulfill content information or temporary usage. One question to yourself, why don’t put your real photo on Bitcointalk forum profile ?  or you are easy to scam somebody in the forum?

Before accusing anyone or any project is a scam, please kindly to check in detail. It is impacted to real project reputation and of Bitcointalk forum reputation.

I think you are missing a very clear point.

The problem lies with your project putting fake photos to begin with. The question is, why did you bother to put a fake picture of your team members in the first place? This problem wouldn't have started in the first place if you just omitted the picture and continued with your project.

Again, by putting a stock photo as the picture of several of your team members, the element of deceit is present. You are causing it to appear that the identity of such person is the one posted as the stock photo. You are lying and deceiving future investors of your project by that lone and simple act.

There are a lot of real members of the Bitcointalk forum who are claiming the Bitcointalk forum is a scam and exit the Bitcointalk account by switching to another forums instead due to your wrong evaluation and super high knowledge in project analysis.
You should apologize and correct inappropriate actions to the real project.
I am not in favor of any side to own selfish benefit but it is based on real proof of detail review.

Oh dear I have seen this a thousand times already.

Stop putting the blame on me and put the blame on the people and developers (I am assuming you are one of those) that create scam projects. If you would check the posts under this thread, hundreds to thousands of projects have already been exposed and proven to be scam.
3313  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is Easy dont be afraid just on: June 11, 2021, 10:42:10 PM
This is really bad advice especially for newbie and veteran traders in the market.

Trading isn't easy. If it were that easy as you described it to be, then it would be considered very profitable and all traders would be millionaires by now. Trading can be extremely difficult especially if you are new to this kind of investment. It requires patience, knowledge, and determination in order to at least break even or gain profit from your trades. In addition, when you start trading large amounts of bitcoins, the slightest change can either make or break your pattern.

There are, however, certain indicators that a trader can utilize in order to lower the risk of failing on a trade. Apply the different trading schemes and techniques in order to reduce these risks but those aren't absolute solution that will work most of the time.

3314  Economy / Economics / Re: Miami Mayor Will Allow Employee salaries in Bitcoin on: June 11, 2021, 10:26:11 PM
<snip..>

This is very interesting as in the Philippines, the law is very explicit and clear that salaries paid must be receive in recognized legal tender.

As a general rule, salaries/wages received by an employer can only be by means of legal tender or cash deposits. It cannot be in any way other than what is recognized as legal tender. Hypothetically, in order for this type of suggestion be implemented, there has to be an amendment in our Labor Laws or a resolution viewing bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies as legal tender.

I do hope that the government in our country sees the advantage of having such implementation. Even if the form of payment is explicitly provided for by law, I think it would be better if it is left to the discretion of the employee.
3315  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: We are all gamblers. on: June 11, 2021, 08:32:14 PM
This is a bad comparison if I can have vice I prefer smoking or drinking liquor because the symptoms can manifest physically and I can ask for help by then and have a chance to heal, while in gambling, even if you are losing heavily and gamble all your money and started to do bad things to sustain your gambling you will still deny that you are a compulsive gambler because the manifestation is in the minds and the minds can always deny.

This is indeed, a bad comparison.

Just because there is luck involve in our daily lives does not mean that it is similar to gambling into casinos. While it is true that there are certain vices that involve a wager of some sort, it is still far away from gambling into physical casinos.

Gambling addiction is just another addiction that can both affect your mental and physical health. Just like any other addiction, once you arrive at that point where you find it difficult to function normally because it hampers your daily activity, I guess that is an indicator that you need to seek help not just from your parents but from you as well.
3316  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The views of developed countries with developing countries on bitcoin on: June 11, 2021, 01:17:37 PM
Personally, I think the distinction is not due to the level of development but rather the style of leadership (when it comes to Bitcoin).

I agree with this statement.

The problem hinges on government prohibitions which creates a bar for most developing countries to enter into. Without any support from the government and knowledge about the cryptocurrency world, these countries would most likely develop less importance to the existence of all cryptocurrencies.

While I do take into consideration the negative effects that anonymity may bring, it is far outweighed on the opportunities and positive effects that it brings considering that the blockchain technology MAY be the future of transactions.
3317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] JOSHUA vs USYK on: June 10, 2021, 11:08:45 PM
I have casted my vote for Usyk. By all means he is superior of Joshua. His advantages rest  not only in boxing stance but in footwork, speed and creativity in fighting.

Dont forget that Usyk likes and often does long series of punches, while Joshua like 1-2 or 4 punch combination. The trick is, Usyk is able to throw 10 punch combo during all 12 round and still have enough stamina to move from Joshua strikes. I think that is the thing Joshua dont have - stamina. It is hard to pump all his muscles with oxygen during all 12 rounds.
This was one of the main problems on the first fight against Ruiz, after the third round in which they both knock each other out Ruiz despite not looking on the best physical shape had a lot of stamina left and Joshua was completely tired to the point he almost offered no resistance from that point on, he improved on the second fight but even then we could see he was administering his stamina, which is something he is not going to be able to do against someone like Usyk.

While I do agree with most of the points you said about Anthony Joshua, I think those are also some of the areas that he needs to improve on which I think he is addressing them now.

Usyk, on the other hand, is a hungry fighter. I watched some of his fights and he has this natural and raw talent that rarely do you see in boxing. While Anthony Joshua is gifted with his explosive power, I do think he lacks certain fundamentals that Usyk has. I am very eager to see the outcome of this fight and I'll cast my vote to the Usyk!
3318  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling becomes popular on: June 10, 2021, 11:23:44 AM
A lot of people were forced to stay indoors so it's not surprising that the online gambling will become more popular also a lot of competition from different gambling sites increased. If there's only a gambling site where we can deposit and withdraw anonymously that would be better, most of the gambling sites though are licensed and most of them  have the possibility that they will ask personal information to the users.

Not just online gambling, but anything that requires service became popular due to the ongoing pandemic.

Anything that is related to food service and convenience are striving since these businesses do not require as much exposure. Compared to other jobs such as restaurants, barbershops, gyms, etc. these are the ones that are greatly affected as their access is limited and sometimes prohibited.

This pandemic really took a toll into everyone's new normal. Online businesses are starting to flourish and incidentally, online gambling took the stage and the opportunity. Unfortunately, with the popularity of online gambling, lots of people are kept inside their houses gambling without any hindrances and discipline.
3319  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies panicking. on: June 09, 2021, 11:37:46 PM
Fear is what makes novices sell their coins. There are even people who woke from the dead just to own bitcoin and hodl and then sell if afraid when the price is decreasing. I have read somewhere that he/she is now active from being inactive for so long because the price of bitcoin reached 60k usd and that means he/she did not believe in bitcoin. The decrease in price is an advantage to some people where they can buy crypto at a lower price compared to the price before.

To be totally fair, it is easier said than done especially if you are holding like hundreds to thousands of BTCs in your wallet, which equates to around millions of dollars. The slightest movement in the price can test your sanity, but it takes a veteran to handle such immense stress and pressure.

If you consider yourself a newbie in the cryptocurrency world, I highly advice you to avoid going all out and focusing on investing into BTC alone. Remember that cryptocurrencies are considered as a 'high-risk, high-reward' investment.
