2341  Other / Archival / Re: Complex password is the key to security on: March 05, 2022, 12:15:05 PM
This is definitely an interesting post- it puts you into a perspective on how easy it is for hackers to crack complex passwords below 11 characters, even if you mix it with uppercase, lowercase, or special characters. As years progress, more and more technology is being developed for hackers to improve in cracking down passwords. Better to create something that can be future proof at least!

  • Do not use a universal password to enter all sites (exchanges, wallets, etc.)

I am somehow guilty with this. Since I forget easily my passwords, I use something that is universal where I just put some random characters and numbers, but the essence of the password is the same.

2342  Economy / Gambling / Re: Join a collective boycott of all Russian gambling platforms on: March 05, 2022, 11:53:58 AM
SlotV, FrankCasino and Mrbit are owned by the same company and they have on of the best responsible gambling attitudes from the internet; these are my favourite casinos who are more than fair, welcoming and respectful for their users. What about no.!?

This post is more of a movement towards not supporting gambling websites hosted by Russian online gambling websites. Again, no one is forcing you to decide on such- if you feel like the websites you mentioned are relatively fair and easy to use then feel free to use it.

Again, this is considered a movement against Russia due to the war ongoing with Ukraine. No one will judge you in this forum but it is somehow pleasing to see such collective movement in not supporting anything handled by Russian oligarchs.
2343  Economy / Gambling / Re: [GUIDE] 10 complete steps for new casino into this forum on: March 05, 2022, 10:36:33 AM
Number 6 is very important
Quote
6. Make sure your site is already finished.
Announcing your casino but your site still under development will make people doesn't want to try your sites since it's not completed yet and worried if there's a bug. You need to have at least: Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, FAQ, Live support, Social media, and Provably fair verifier. It's not funny when you don't even wrote any rules and when someone want to withdraw his money, you suspect him abusing your system etc and you ask him to submit KYC. Obviously no one will ever want to play anymore.

Having a complete and finished casino with all its features TOS complete with no typo error will gain you rust from players, another thing that is the most important before inviting players to play is to check and double-check all the game's deposit and withdrawals functions, players will always check if everything is working fine and this is where you get the best feedback.

I fully agree with your statement.

The problem with most gambling websites is that they announce prematurely about their incoming gambling websites and activities, while their website is still under development and incomplete. While online gambling projects may announce their upcoming plans, they should not entirely release their websites if it is not 100% complete.

I think it is easier if gambling websites/projects should release like a feedback form about their websites for further development. In this way, these projects would have a high retaining rate of new and old players.
2344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: According to Bill Miller, the collapse of Russia's currency is good for Bitcoin on: March 05, 2022, 10:09:34 AM
Quote
Bill Miller, a billionaire investor, says that Russia would likely turn to Bitcoin to reclaim control of their resources. Western sanctions have now blocked Russia's foreign exchange reserves. Bitcoin is frequently regarded as a superior "digital gold" that can partially or completely replace national currencies.

What are your thoughts and opinions on this? I would love to hear it!

The impact of having heavy economical sanctions in a country can quite be costly- it will be relatively harder and difficult for the people in Russia to transact and purchase goods within their area. Inflation will rise and all of the costs of goods would definitely spike-up due to having scarce resources on their countries.

This is where BTC can step in. Its application can somehow support Russian citizens to purchase goods outside their country by transacting and using BTCs. I do think that BTC can have an impact to this war especially on its price.
2345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I was finally able to purchase an iPhone 13 pro max using my Bitcoin on: March 04, 2022, 05:43:11 PM
I went to buy a phone with my friend today. Going there, Iphone 13 pro max became my favorite phone.  And arouses interest in buying. But I did not have enough money to buy that phone in my pocket. I laugh and talk about Bitcoin to the owner of that showroom. I was surprised to that the owner of that showroom want to sell his phone to me  for Bitcoin. And I asked him again, "Are you kidding me?"then He immediately gave me a bitcoin wallet to pay him. I paid him bitcoin and bought the Iphone 13 pro max.

Since the price of Bitcoin has come down a lot now, it has become foolish for me to buy the phone with Bitcoin.  Because for that I have to spend more bitcoin.  But still I am very happy to be able to do it.  Because in my country Bitcoin is still declared as an illegal currency.  Nevertheless, I got this advantage

I was on the same shoes as you- I was planning on getting the iPhone 13 using my BTC proceeds but at the back of my head, I am somehow losing the value of HODLing my BTCs for the future.

Unfortunately, I was not able to convert my BTCs to cash when its price reached $60,000. I had like $2,000 worth of BTCs in my wallet but it quickly plummeted down when its price crashed. After the crash, that was the only time that I was able to cash out my BTCs in which I wasted around $1,000 worth. Good thing you were able to purchase your phone using BTCs, OP!
2346  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The world of sport reacts to the Russian invasion of Ukraine on: March 04, 2022, 05:28:41 PM
I normally see all Russian athletes showing their support for Ukraine, but there was an exceptional situation in chess. Top chess player Sergey Karjakin has expressed his support for Putin. Chess players are intelligent people, especially at a high level. I wonder what possesses him to write such a thing on twitter. Could play that he used to be a resident of Ukraine, he now seems to have Russian nationality. That could play into it, maybe he left the country there with a lot of fights. Otherwise you are not going to show your support for Putin for any reason.

Ah this is a famous issue in the chess world where Sergey Karjakin expressed his opinion about the war. Unfortunately, he supported the war and saw it as something that is positive to him- in which the whole chess community reacted against him. For the statements that he made, he was banned in participating in Norway Chess and he now faces an ethics case against him.

Fellow Russian GM Alexander Grischuk made a statement about the war in which he said that he supports 99% of the international conflicts of Russia, but he is totally against the unnecessary and chaotic war against Ukraine.
2347  Economy / Services / Re: Chess Coach - All levels & ages, instructive chess lessons by an EXPERT. on: March 04, 2022, 12:28:21 PM
I really appreciate when people offer their expertise in payment for BTCs as anything could actually be in sale.

As someone who has been playing chess for more than 10 years, things like these definitely makes me happy especially considering that chess is a niche type of sport. While it may not be physically challenging, losing a game could be as brutal as playing american football mentally. I do hope that people would consider applying and getting a chess coach as this sport is super rewarding especially when you crush your opponents primarily by using your techniques and mind!

Good luck, OP!
2348  Economy / Reputation / Re: The Forum Journey of _BlackStar [Senior Member Right Now] on: February 28, 2022, 06:40:24 PM
Looks like I'll have to be patient for the next few months to reach Hero rank [around September] as my activity aren't enough right now. So far I've managed to get 448/500 merit for Hero rank and only need a minimum of 52 more merit to qualify. But it looks like I will have to wait patiently like some other users whose merit amount is sufficient to become a high ranking member.

I don't think that's the case now because I just want to keep my merit count above my activity count for a long time. I'll probably try my best though this isn't really important to mention.

To all my forum friends, stay calm even though it seems the world not safe right now. The war must end soon and I love peace.  Wink

The fact that you have achieved such high amounts of merits in a relatively low amount of activity points is a testament to your post quality and contribution to the forum. You have currently achieved what 80-90% of all the forum members  cannot do, which is to rank-up and get out from the "Jr. Member hell."

Continue what you are doing OP as your contribution is what makes this forum a better place for all beginners to visit. Like what I always mention to newbies, if you do your responsibility as a forum member, then merits would be the least of your concern!
2349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The most reliable coin to invest in is Bitcoin. on: February 28, 2022, 06:11:32 PM
Hello.

I have been investing in Bitcoin as well as other coins for a long time. Some of these coins have disappointed me. After reviewing investments so far, I have found that investing in Bitcoin is the smartest thing. Although the price of Bitcoin has dropped a lot, this coin does not disappoint me because I have full confidence in this coin. I think and believe that the price of this currency will not decrease for a long time, it will one day exceed its maximum value. Which happened towards the end of 2021.

Will it be possible if you could elaborate on which coins have dissapointed you so far from your investments? Given the track nature of altcoins in the market, if you closely monitor the prices or if you HODL it for long-term, then the results would most likely be the same as the prices of some majority of the altcoins depend on the price of BTC as well.

Personally, if you plan on HODLing long-term, then investing into BTC is the way to go. Similarly, there are people who compare BTCs as to investing into blue-chip stocks as its price may be high but the returns are somehow guaranteed in long-term investment.
2350  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting on the war on: February 28, 2022, 06:02:47 PM
While I do understand that the nature and scope of gambling can be anything under the sun, I think it is highly inappropriate to bet or wager into something that involves the lives of the people at stake. I mean, some may attempt to do this but this is something that goes against the morality and human nature- betting on the lives of people can never be considered as normal and appropriate.

Even if there are websites that offer such betting option, I highly advise against so as it really contradicts human nature and morality. With all the available betting platforms, why choose this kind of platform?
2351  Economy / Gambling / Re: Would you support a collective boycott of all Russian gambling platforms? on: February 28, 2022, 05:45:58 PM
Considering the current events in Ukraine and the open aggression from Russia, what are your thoughts on the collective boycott of all Russian gambling platforms in support of Ukraine?

We know that 1xBET and 1xBit are owned by Russians. Do you know any more? Could we make a list of all Russian-owned casinos?

I'd love to support an initiative to help Ukraine! I think it would be great if we all raised our voices together and supported it.

It is somehow difficult where to draw the line between prohibitions and sanctions in times of war. Sure, we all know that Putin has exercised beyond his rights to the point that he violated constitutional and human rights with this war against Ukraine, but that does not mean that EVERY people in Russia should suffer the consequences of his actions.

Remember, Putin controls almost every government official to his disposal- one wrong move could literally put these people's lives in jeopardy. I guess the compromise to this kind of situation is just to avoid, for the time being, associating yourself with these websites until everything gets resolved.

2352  Other / Meta / Re: freedom of speech is fine, but where is the limit? on: February 28, 2022, 05:34:52 PM
<snip....>
As for these pointless feedbacks, it would definitely make sense that in the case of a perma-ban member who left them, such feedback would be automatically deleted.

This somehow summarizes on where to draw the line on freedom of speech in the forum.

There is a reason on why theymos made trust feedbacks unregulated. While this may be the case, newbies have the power to somehow abuse it by plaguing and spreading fake negative feedbacks that may relatively affect the reputation of a member. But I think the compromise and to remedy this problem is to delete such negative feedbacks if the member received a perma-ban.

I mean, there is no point of having those feedbacks stay if the forum member has been banned specifically if they violated any of the forum rules.
2353  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coin Base or Meta Mask? on: February 28, 2022, 05:24:28 PM

Coinbase or metamask?

Personally, comparable ang binance sa coins.ph, parang you can treat the former as an international exchange whereas ang latter ay isang local exchange.

Siguro at the end of the day, depende din talaga sa preference mo OP.
2354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: February 28, 2022, 03:46:07 PM
Nets had a great victory against Bucks and I found Seth Curry and Andre Drummond's contribution quite important for the victory. And at the other hand of the trade, 76ers also had huge benefits from this. Harden had a huge triple double in New York against the Knicks. I think 16 assists and 5 steals also are important. And the chemistry between him and Joel Embid. It seemed in these two games that they play like they are teammates for years. It is exciting time in the season because of this trade. I would favor both of the teams in my betting.
I think 76ers won that trade, ever since Harden started playing the 76ers have been winning games impressively, and Harden's production is very impressive as well. Imagine, Harden and Embiid are both contributing consistently every game, that is a huge for the team and they'll become a championship team.

Like what I previously mentioned, the tandem of Harden + Embiid reminds of that era where 1+2 PG and Big men used to dominate the ring. We all know on how capable Harden can be when he is with a Center that can finish his pick and rolls. Since that he is teamed up with arguably the best center on the league, he just fitted perfectly on the chemistry of the 76ers.

With regard to Simmons, I do hope that he finds his role perfect on the Nets. If he can consistently develops his jumper, then he can find a good place in the Nets. Along with his height, passing skills, and dribble, he can definitely dish out amazing passes to scorers in his team.
2355  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why does the price of Bitcoin influence other coins on: February 28, 2022, 03:27:22 PM
I really want to know why any time Bitcoin increases or go high many other coins will go high too and when Bitcoins drops many coins drops too.
is it that Bitcoin is the backbone of other coins or their is something connected between Bitcoin and other coins.

please I need explanation.

There is a reason on why alternate coins are called "altcoins" because they simply derive their existence on the foundation that BTC built.

Lots of altcoins are present in the market- whether memecoins or usable coins. The latter are the types where they simply took the technology of BTC but they introduced improvements therein. The former are the ones that derive their value based on influence and hype- where its value is totally dependent on supply and demand (ie dogecoin influenced by Elon Musk).

One of the many reasons on why the price of BTC influence these altcoins is because they derive their value somehow on how BTC is performing in the market. That is also the reason on why BTC has the highest price of all altcoins present in the market.
2356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: February 28, 2022, 02:41:51 PM
According to Alonso, Ferrari and Mercedes are the 2 fastest car of the tests [...] Also the Redbull boss is "scared" about Ferrari

Mind games imho...  I think those kind of statements from the likes of Horner should start making their rivals a bit worried.  I mean why would Horner say they’re weak if they’re really weak?  It’s like they’re giving up on the season without putting up a fight.  But it could also be an acknowledgement that Ferrari could be in the running for a championship run this season?  Wink  I can’t wait!

Yeah, I'd agree with that. If Red Bull are going out of their way to say they're scared of another car, that just makes me think Red Bull are really strong and everyone should be scared of Red Bull.
That said, yes, I'd love to see Ferrari back at the top too... it's where they should be. Is it realistic? Who knows?

Just a quick question, now that pre-season is along the way and most of the teams have tried testing and pushing their car to the limits (achieving that sweet 100-lap spot per car), is it possible to have some changes during the regular seasons? Are there any rules as to the deadline of adding any modifications to their cars; or as long as they comply with the prescribed F1 regulations they can make changes at any time?

Since Redbull is one of the teams that unveiled their cars first, will it be possible that they are hinting some new modifications in the near future?
2357  Economy / Gambling / Re: How To Access Sportsbet.io or any kind of gambling without VPN on: February 28, 2022, 02:14:02 PM
Doesn't matter if you are using a VPN or not or some other loopholes to find a way around the restriction. If the casino has KYC policy, sooner or later they will ask you to verify your account. In that case, VPNs won't help you and you will lose access to your account, profits and/or your deposits. So yeah, an extra risk that you will be taking when doing things like this. Is it worth taking those risk?
The casino must have a policy regarding KYC if it is needed because the user violates or the account is suspicious, then KYC will definitely be implemented, this has become a system that has been tracked by their side if they find something odd.
Mak VPN is used only as necessary if the casino allows VP then it doesn't matter if it doesn't allow it then avoid it because something big risk will definitely happen to your account if the ban is ignored.

I am against the decision of looking for loopholes in order to gamble. it is as easy- if your country bans/prohibits a certain gambling website, then look for an alternative instead of looking for loopholes. In the event that you get caught, then you would have to suffer the consequences of losing your gambling proceeds. It is like you are always walking on fire and putting your proceeds at risks every time you gamble on a prohibited foundation and setting.
2358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is now a good time to be investing in Bitcoin? on: February 28, 2022, 12:54:41 PM
Hi everyone I was wondering if the overall Russian-Ukraine situation in Bitcoin is now pretty low, will it soar if the whole war is resolved again? What is your opinion? Thank you.

It depends upon your goal but if you are planning on HODLing for long-term, it is generally a good time to invest into cryptocurrencies.

Prices of BTCs nowadays are fluctuating even before the Russia-Ukraine war. It has been steady at around $38-40,000 for about 1-2 months now but there are times were it jumps. If you plan on HODLing for long-term, then it is a good time to invest and purchase BTCs, if possible. But, if you plan on going short-term, then you have to prepare a definite plan on when to cash-out to at least maximize your profit in the end.
2359  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Another KYC requirements ng coins.ph? on: February 27, 2022, 10:36:03 PM

Like what I experienced last month, sobrang higpit ng coins.ph dahil sa kanilang 'enhanced KYC' feature where yung account limit and verification ko was put into hold. When I inquired na ma-lift yung restriction, I had to provide extra KYC documents (i.e. ITR, tax declaration, BTCTALK forum account details, GCASH transactions, etc.) just to prove na legitimate yung sources of my funds and kung saan nanggagaling yung proceeds of my BTCs.

What bothered me is yung time para ma-approve lahat ng ito. Siguro it roughly took me ~2-3 weeks before natapos yung buong process.
2360  Local / Pilipinas / Re: RUSSIA vs UKRAINE - EPEKTO SA PILIPINAS on: February 27, 2022, 10:27:17 PM

With regards to stocks, hold lang ako for my long term goal and since I do invest on both market, I still prefer stocks for my long term and crypto for trading and holding as well. You can have both, just have a good budgeting strategy.

I think nakikita na natin ang epekto ng gera between Ukraine and Russia lalo na't kung titignan natin yung prices ng gas ngayon. Grabe, from P50-P80 per liter ng gasolina ngayon. This makes me appreciate and think of buying a bicycle kasi sobrang mahal na talaga ang gas to the point na mas pipillin mo na lang din mag commute kesa mag dala ng sariling kotse.
