2801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can 1 Bitcoin buy in your country? on: October 23, 2021, 03:49:42 PM
As someone who lives in a third-world country, most of the property and things here are relatively cheap. With 1 BTC (approximately $60,000), it could purchase you here in the Philippines a good condominium unit! In addition, 1 BTC could make wonders in your life especially that most of the people here are living the below-average income threshold.

Just to give you an example, 1 BTC could garner you this:

2802  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: October 23, 2021, 12:34:22 PM
This is so alarming for the LA Lakers, they lose again and it's not even a competitive game.

They had a run in the 4th quarter but it was never enough to get close and had a chance to win the game.
More adjustment is necessary, they can't just keep losing and make an excuse telling people that they are still adjusting.

Congrats to the Phoenix, they have proven that they are still intact and remain a good team.

I think it is about the overall defense of Lakers and their team chemistry that resulted to their 0-7 record. They are still adjusting given that most of their players are all stars. Like what I previously mentioned, individually, Lakers' players are skilled. But as a team, they are still looking for that right ball movement and plays.

On the other hand, Nets, while they are also stacked with incredible skilled players, they managed to get their team chemistry and ball rotation consistent. I think it is something to do on how James Harden handles the floor. Their game against Sixers showed on how dominant KD was.
2803  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dice machine on: October 22, 2021, 04:22:43 PM
Dice have been one of my favorite gambling game and am thinking of installing a dicing machine in my home just for fun, my 17 years old son is good in playing computer games and am thinking of introducing him to gambling after all he is going to learn it whatever ways if I don't teach him how to handle gambling risk and avoid being addicted. The need to have a dicing machine at home becomes paramount and am wondering which dice machine I can go for?

I think it is a nice gesture of teaching your kid about the dangers of gambling but prevention is always better than cure!

Instead of introducing him the subject of gambling and the effects of dice games, open up topics or subjects that may deviate your kid about gambling in general. The mindset that "he is going to learn it whatever ways" sounds slightly wrong in my perspective. Let him be curious on a certain topic and when such time comes, that is when you will exercise your role as a parent and brief him about gambling, in general.
2804  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Kahalagahan ng pagkakaroon ng back ups o storage ng Password on: October 22, 2021, 03:46:14 PM
Na learn ko the hard way about external HDD. Now I have external SSDs and won’t be buying HDDs anymore.

I store them traditionally sa aking notebook despite my ugly penmanship.

Grin

I think isa ito sa mga bagay that I took for granted back in the days. I remember, ang dami kong files sa luma kong laptop where nandoon din essential passwords/documents ko. Unfortunately, nasira laptop ko and in order to retrieve the files, pumunta pa ako sa isang specialist sa may Kamuning para ma-backup yung files ko. Pero, it costed me like 5-10k para lang doon.

Since halos lahat ng mga BTC ko ay naka store sa isang application sa phone, kailangan ko na rin din siguro ilipat ito sa isang external wallet para mas secured and para may back-up just in case masira ulit. Kung baga, extra layer of security na.
2805  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador Bitcoin payment option on: October 22, 2021, 03:00:52 PM
In my opinion, I think this is a welcome development, it can be said that El Salvadorian government are not making Bitcoin payment mandatory (although mandatory) even as it is a legal tender because the payment can be in Bitcoin while the receiver can choose to receive it in fiat and processed automatically.

The concept behind 'legal tender' is that you can compel a person to pay you in case of debt using the available and recognized means accepted in your country. For example, if A were to incur debt, he can compel B to pay you in legal tender. In addition, companies can also pay your income in the form of the available means of legal tender. So in the case of El Salvador, people may compel merchants or establishments to receive BTC as payment but this is subject to certain exceptions.

This is indeed, a good move for El Salvador. The fact that they have recognized BTC as legal tender opens a plethora of opportunities that may soon see development in the near future.
2806  Economy / Speculation / Re: Elon Musk Sees Bitcoin Price Reaching $69,000 on: October 22, 2021, 12:56:49 PM
Tweets like these have the potential of shaking up the whole community and his supporters, thereby increasing the chances of BTC's price increasing again.

Regardless, I do see that the price of BTC will increase over the next few weeks-months. Like the trend that happened last 2018, during the last quarter of that year, price of BTC skyrocketed but it subsequently fell until the second quarter of 2019.

To be honest, I am actually excited to see the day when the price hits $69,420 like memes would explode everywhere on the internet.
2807  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: October 22, 2021, 11:52:38 AM
There was another great game between Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers last night. It was a highly competitive game and GSW barely managed to win the game by 115-113. LAC tried to equalize the score at least in the last moments after a free-throw but it was in vain. And the player of the game was definitely Stephen Curry. He showed a really huge performance in this one. He got 45 points and 10 rebounds. He got 13 three-pointer attempts and 8 of them were successful. He really fired up that's for sure. When he plays like this, GSW's wins are more guaranteed.

Steph Curry was just unreal during the game against the Clippers. He immortalized himself as the greatest shooter in NBA right now. With those two (2) clutch threes on the last quarter, his defenders are just clueless on how to guard him. He can pretty much do anything (other than rebounding). Give him just a little space and he'll hit a three-pointer lights out.

Credits must also given to the whole warriors bench for the clutch shots made. Special mention to Jordan Poole who is constantly improving game-by-game with his drives and shooting ability.
2808  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] for Newbies to Learn faster about This forum on: October 21, 2021, 05:53:35 PM
OP, since you are so hard at work on this subject, let me add a little tip.
Please note that there are violations on the forum, such as transferring merits to your alternate account. Probably many
So many newbies is not aware that exchanging merit to alternative account is similar to someone who plagiarised or paraphrased a work, someone can violates the law of the community unknowing if note properly gone through the protocols, procedures, rules and regulations of the community but it's not an excuse, it's very necessary to calm down and understand the reason while some rules are innate or enshrined to community more especially the new users, majority of them is concentrating on plagiarism as the major rule that can restrict them not to operate here, so it's good to study and also know the implications of plagiarism, exchanges of Merit system, and paraphrasing.

Unfortunately, lots of newbies nowadays are focusing too much of ranking-up where their post quality suffers.

Before you think about ranking up, it is essential that you share or create a thread which engages conversation and discussion about a certain topic. It is also advisable that you remove that kind of mindset and just focus on contributing. In that way, instead of you chasing the merits, it will be the other way around.

Newbies, always remember that post quality >> post quantity.
2809  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Issue of fixed Matches on: October 21, 2021, 05:03:16 PM
i know how to spot fixed match, it make me money most of the time  Grin

Like what I previously mentioned, there was a time that a game in basketball was investigated due to match fixing. You can actually observe their pattern and their movements showing their disinterest and their intentional throwing of the game by the second quarter.
To be honest, it is kinda difficult to spot if a game is fixed. Lots of factors to be considered as every thing is a case-to-case basis.

2810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia took third place in the world in bitcoin mining on: October 21, 2021, 03:08:18 PM
I am actually not surprised that Russia took the third spot in terms of mining application.

With their geographical location, it is strategic to set-up mining rigs and computers on their areas due to the cool weather. As far as I know also, energy consumption on the area is not that expensive compared to other countries that demand high prices on energy consumption.
If I just had the necessary capital, I would heavily consider mining in that country with all the benefits and strategic location of it.
2811  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Helpful books for gambling addiction treatment on: October 21, 2021, 02:00:22 PM
I think that there are tons of material in the internet that may help a person with their addiction (in general).

In addition, the internet contains full demos, videos, and information on how to combat addiction. I slightly doubt that there will be gamblers who will be reading books in order to resolve their addiction. More likely than not, they will seek help from their family or friends than to read books about it (since it will be too time consuming). Nevertheless, posting these kinds of links will be helpful in getting points and principles for discussions.
2812  Other / Archival / Re: The beginning of the end of traditional payment processors? on: October 18, 2021, 05:58:41 PM
The era of traditional money transfers is coming to an end and this business, if it does not disappear completely, will significantly reduce its influence in the world. Other countries will follow in the wake of El Salvador, and millions of new users will join the ecosystem. What do you think about this?

I think the shift to a cryptocurrency-based payment is still far from a global-scale implementation.

Given the fact that majority of the countries are either third-world or underdeveloped, such implementation would heavily prejudice these countries due to forcing them into a position where payment method would require some sort of technology. Though I can see that the future transactions would heavily depend on the technology behind BTC (blockchain), fiat would still dominate.
2813  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: October 18, 2021, 05:52:11 PM
There is news that Simmons practiced with the 76ers today, and it was the first time since he quarreled with the team. So if Ben decides to stay with the 76ers, then it will be interesting to see his first performance on the home court after returning and fans' reaction to him.

That's good news for the 76ers and for Ben Simmons as well since he didn't pay attention to what the other people say about his shooting ability since everyone has their own skills especially with his defensive skill that has been helping the 76ers to be in the playoffs this past seasons. Looks like they are all set and ready to start the season with a strong team.

I think people were too harsh on him. Okay, defensively, he is definitely gifted especially with his passing abilities, sight on the court, and basketball IQ. Though he can drive into the rim and finish, he does lack the necessary shooting ability midrange or on threes. Though this may be practiced through and developed early on, I do think that Ben Simmons can outweigh such skill with his athleticism and height.

Due to the dominance of three-point shots in the NBA, it's like most players should be hitting threes. Heck, even Centers now are practicing three-point shots!
2814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are some interesting ways you've introduced bitcoin to your friends? on: October 18, 2021, 04:51:52 PM
As someone who currently lives in a third-world country, any alternative income that can be conveniently earned is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that cannot be missed.

When my college friend introduced me this forum, he explained that it was possible to earn income by working online. Since I was also struggling financially (living with a family of 5 with a single dad raising us), I opted to listen and to know the fundamentals of BTC.

Ever since I started earning from my signature campaigns, I tried as much as possible to introduce this forum to some of my close friends (and relatives) about the nature of BTC. Though most of them brushed such idea by claiming that it was an 'online scam' or 'pyramid scheme', there were some people who listened passionately and tried joining this forum!

Through word of mouth, I was able to send the message and inform them about the nature of cryptocurrencies!
2815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant on: October 18, 2021, 04:09:19 PM
Gennady Golovkin is so far the closest and competitive opponent of Canelo in his career. I also like to see the trilogy between them and hopefully, it can be arranged. They need a part 3. But before that Canelo needs to settle first with Caleb Plant to become an undisputed boxer this year.

Won't be an easy fight for Canelo but I'm sure he can handle Caleb Plant. The latter has attractive odds to win but too risky to gamble with it.

With an unbiased jury, Golovkin would have won the matches of 2017 and 2018. There should have been a rematch in 2019, but Alvarez chickened out and refused to face GGG. Now there is no point in getting a trilogy fight in 2022. The fact remains clear - Canelo was afraid of a defeat in 2019 and therefore refused to face Golovkin for the third time. No matter how much glory he achieves at the boxing ring (there is no doubt that Canelo is an all time great), this one thing will remain as a black mark and haunt him forever.
Just Like Mayweather refuse to take rematch against Manny Pacquiao , it is best to remain Undefeated recorded than facing an opponent that you are in doubt of winning continuously .

there are different types of Boxers .

there are others that want to test their capacity in fighting the toughest .

and there are also those type of Boxers that only looking for Fame .

The problem with Mayweather is that he avoided fighting Pacquiao during in his prime. Though as a businessman, I do understand the move of Mayweather in avoiding him since there is that risk of staining my undefeated record. But as a fighter, it is considered as a 'weak move'. That is also the reason on why many fans from all over the world see Pacquiao as one of the greatest fighters of all time.

Canelo, on the other hand, is a pure warrior and fighter. He challenges all the greatest on his weight division no matter who the fighter may be. But what really molded him to be the best fighter in his weight division was his fight between Mayweather where he lost. He learned so much from that fight that made him a complete force of nature.
2816  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Issue of fixed Matches on: October 18, 2021, 03:33:21 PM
It happens more often than you think.

Generally, match fixing happens on matches that are not that well-regulated and guarded by the established authorities. Usually, it also happens on events that are considered "small-scale" where the referees and/or players are involved in the scheme.

Recently here in the Philippines, there was a basketball game held in one of its provinces and it was subsequently ruled that the players were involved in match fixing. In addition, match fixing also happens in e-sports where players would bet money/skins in their opponents and they would intentionally throw away the game.

The problem with fixed matches stem from proving that such event did indeed happen.
2817  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HODL is the way on: October 18, 2021, 01:31:52 PM
The key to trading is patience. If you have that amount of patience then everything will be possible in the crypt. The coins you have mentioned are really very profitable. So be patient so that there is no financial crisis. But again, didn't need your money. If you had, you would have sold it.
Then you can benefit by holding. It is basically for your patience.

I think you meant by investing? Trading may require patience but you have to prevent yourself from being too greedy by waiting out too much. Once you see the prices of your coins increase, you have to decide whether to sell or to keep them. Generally, whenever I see a 3-5% increase on the coins that I have, I sell them and re-purchase some new coins and add them to my portfolio.

Investing, on the other hand, requires tremendous amounts of patience. Like here in cryptocurrencies, your best guide will always be the price history index of BTC. Just imagine, its price increased by 10% this week. Though some have argued to sell, most are convinced to HODL for long-term.
2818  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: October 18, 2021, 12:32:19 AM
Congratulations Team Spirit on managing to complete there Cinderella Run on this TI. Honestly I can't believe that they really beat LGD with a strong draft. TS momentum really help to win this fight.

It started after beating OG and now they are the champions. I’m still disappointed on how SGD plays in the finals but its already over, the underdog made a strong statement that they are the team to beat and it happened. Congrats to Team Spirit, and to those who took the risk ok placing their bet for Team Spirit.

There we have it! We are very privileged to witness 5 games of pure action and showcase of skill from both teams.

Games 1 and 2 showed the confidence of Team Spirit in their draft and skill. The dominance of Yotoro's farm as Naga and Luna showed significant potential as he was ahead of everyone.

Games 3 and 4 showcased the experience of LGD and their individual skill as players. The last pick of Tinker destroyed the draft of TS in which it held PA obsolete to the game.

Game 5 was just really everything that we could imagine but Collapse's Magnus changed and turned the tide of the battle. The first ten (10) minutes were in favor of LGD's side as they were ahead of the net worth. But it all changed once Magnus got his blink and shard on where they were picking heroes like it's a toy museum. Similar in their game against OG, the tiny+lycan draft was unable to match the prowess of Magnus and TB.

Congratulations for TS for their victory and to all betters who won!
2819  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Tips- what kind of strategies do you use when playing? on: October 17, 2021, 11:58:50 PM
A player with a good hand makes a decision very quickly, and a player who takes longer than usual to make a decision obviously doubts his cards.

I cant fully agree with this assumption. If you think so, you might be tricked easily by your opponent. I think you need to watch some videos of poker competition where you can see many popular players in the same table. You'll see, even if someone own a very good hand and have lets say 90% winning chance, the player will not do it fast. Most will act like they are thinking about the probabilities or even they will act like they are doubting their own cards to trick their opponents.

Yeah I agree with you as well that this is absolutely not the case.  By saying that, or playing with having that in mind, you're going to fall to bluffs really easily.  One of the worst things you can do is be too aggressive and make your moves too quickly.  That is just often a dead giveaway that you've got a good hand and you're likely to have people just folding on you and your good hand.
And this takes us to the fascinating world of poker tells, obviously unless you get to know a player and you play in person this is pretty much impossible to apply but expert poker players use tactics similar to what you would expect from people in security agencies to give themselves an edge, you probably have seen this as well on those poker tournaments on TV, probably the best I have seen at this is Phil Hellmuth as I have seen him literally guessing the cards his opponent had in an impressive display of skill.

Just a quick question, is the art of guessing have some mathematical application behind or is it based on pure memory and luck of such players?

I have watched some of the notable games of Daniel Negreanu and I am just baffled and amazed on how he can accurately guess the cards of the players depending on their body language. Though there were times that his guesses were wrong, most of the time it hit the mark which really puts it in a perspective on how skillful (?!) poker players are in an international level.

2820  Economy / Economics / Re: Who is Happier: Stock investors or Bitcoin investors on: October 17, 2021, 11:52:39 PM
Truth be told  both investors are doing very well.  My question now is , Who is Happier?  Is it the Stock investor or the Bitcoin investor?

"Happier" is a subjective term which is totally dependent on one's feelings. While stock investors or bitcoin investors may seem to gain profit differently, there are lots of factors to consider on which of them is "happier". The answer might be totally different if the question is phrased as "who earns more profit"?

Personally I do think that stock investors are relatively more happier in terms of earning stocks and realizing profit. Stock investing has existed ever since and it has been recognized by countries all over the world. While investing into BTC may be more profitable and easier, stock trading has the advantage of being legal and recognized by the government. They suffer no risk of prohibition since it is heavily regulated by our respective SEC (Securities and Exchange Commissions).
