2661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHEN DO YOU BUY BITCOIN? on: November 29, 2021, 06:48:03 PM
At one point or the other, we all need to buy bitcoin, but when do you actually buy it? or when is the best moment to buy bitcoin?

For example, should I save some cash to but bitcoin when there's a 0 -15% dip? or should I wait till there's a major drop of >30%?

Is DCA the only way to buy bitcoin? What if I invest in an altcoin that booms and then take profit from it to buy more bitcoin?

What is your strategy to buy bitcoin?

The key on when to purchase BTC is to study the market and analyze its price depending per weeks or days.

Currently, the price of BTC skyrocketed from $54,000 to $58,000 within a matter of hours.  With this kind of gain, it is relatively safe to assume that its price might decrease again and find its normal range. But since the price also broke the $60,000 barrier last month, that should be your 'maximum' price that you should consider investing. Today is a good time to purchase more for long-term HODLing. Again, this is purely based from price history market which should be one of the factors in considering your decision to either purchase/sell your resources.
2662  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I not lose money in trading cryptocurrency? on: November 29, 2021, 06:40:58 PM
To what i think on my own view i don't know if i can get more knowledge and understanding to this.
You just have to understand the market, you need to be able to study and know when it’s a right time for you to invest and withdraw your crypto currency. And also remember only invest money you know you can make back even if you lose the money.

To be honest, there is no absolute formula in trading that will guarantee you profit in every trade.

Just like in stocks, it is imperative that you both study the technical analysis and the external/internal factors of a cryptocurrency before you splurge your resources into such. Another thing, if you consider yourself as a newbie/beginner in the trading world, I highly recommend that you avoid trading using large amount of money. Experience and knowledge of the market is the key in order to at least mitigate the risks of losing your money in the process.

I remembered, I read an article where 97% of beginner traders lose their money in the process due to the lack of experience. With such kind of data, I really recommend you to trade on small amounts just to acquire the knowledge on the market.
2663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Social Gambling Platform? on: November 29, 2021, 06:20:19 PM
What do you think about this idea?
Would it fail? Or would it succeed?? Would you ever use it ?

I have high hopes for this and I do believe that this will succeed.

Based from my observations, I think most gambling platforms lack the idea of having to socialize with another people who gamble on the website. I do think that it was implemented to avoid any toxic discussions but being able to discuss freely your experiences with others can lighten up the mood. I do think that most gambling websites should apply this kind of socialization- hiring moderators to regulate the discussion if ever it goes out of hand.

Personally, I would attempt to use it just for the sake of experiencing this kind of implementation.
2664  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling Court on: November 29, 2021, 01:09:28 PM
Certainly a noble suggestion but I’m not sure anything like this could actually be set up. I feel they are currently ran the way they are, overall, in a way that benefits each outlet to the extent of the law that benefits all parties. I’m not sure if what I’m trying to get across makes sense here, but I just don’t see enough stink being able to be put up to make change happening.

Agreed.

Certainly not feasible as a long term solution.

It takes money and resources to keep a court up and running and it requires all the major operators to buy into this thing. Otherwise, it's just going to look like a foolish exercise given that no one will respect its decisions.

Not only the costs of regulation would be the problem but the jurisdiction of these courts must be adhered by the parties in question. Like what I previously mentioned, the power of these courts can only be recognized if countries signed to be bound as such. If a country ignores this, then this would render its effect somehow useless.

Like what was also mentioned, this is a noble idea in which it contained pure and innocent intentions but the implementation of this is just impossible for the time being. I just hope that there would be another solution which can be compromised from this idea.
2665  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Growing Bitcoin demand among people.... on: November 29, 2021, 12:34:56 PM
I think many people have started to invest and purchase BTC due to the heavily influence of media and hype. I just really hope that once these people invest, research is mandatory to prevent any misinformation being spread.

Remember the boom that happened back on the last quarter of 2017 when the price of BTC reached $20,000? After the first quarter of 2018, its price dropped significantly and the people who rode the hype and invested on its ATH complained and spread false information about BTC, without even knowing its volatile nature. But to be honest, it is very refreshing to see the development and recognition of BTC.
2666  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it possible for us to hack some gambling sites? on: November 29, 2021, 12:13:14 PM
That can happen if you are a reliable hacker. But nowadays many gambling sites have a high level of security. The site can detect possible hacking activity from IP addresses and others. And also every account already has multi-layered login protection such as email verification, cellphone number, and 2nd authentication which may be difficult to hack.

I do think that it is possible to hack any website but the security of gambling websites is relatively difficult.

I mean, if I were a hacker, I would probably hack an exchange rather than an online gambling website. But remember, the security and strength of these websites are just unfathomable. I remember, there was an incident which happened in our university where our whole website was hacked and shut down. It took only 2-5 days to track down the hacker and which sentenced him to prison.

Remember that anything is possible but if I were a gifted hacker, I would probably hack another website.
2667  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: Axie Infinity Philippine Thread on: November 29, 2021, 09:14:11 AM

Another thing, I also read before na taxable daw ang Axie and may mga stringent regulations daw si BSP dito? Ano naging epekto nito sa price ng SLP nun nilabas yung news na yun?

Sige maraming salamat sa mga response niyo guys! Baka mag pasok ako most likely around P50,000-P60,000 by December tapos grind ko na lang for the rest of 2022. Kahit matagal ROI, ang mahalaga kahit bumalik lang yung pera through time.
2668  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you guys think 0.1BTC is enough to "make it"? on: November 28, 2021, 10:04:49 PM
Considering the supply vs global population = 0.003BTC per person to go around.

Then other factors like not all 21 million will be in circulation due to lost wallets/deceased hodlers who never informed anyone where their seed is, and also an increasing global population and future generations who all want in.

Do you think 0.1BTC will be like owning a mansion?

Hmm this is a tricky question but as someone who believes in long-term HODLing, 0.1 BTC MAY be enough for a person to buy something decent within 5-10 years from now. Imagine, the price of BTC back in 2017 was around $4,000 and no one expected its price to reach $54,000 after 4 years. Imagine the potential of having to wait two to three forks- its price may definitely skyrocket in the near future.

With every fork having to further divide its flow of supply, there is definitely that potential of 0.1 BTC being an insane value in the future. But if I were you, continue purchasing for long-term HODLing and you will reap its benefits in the future.
2669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exchange or hardware wallet ? on: November 28, 2021, 04:10:33 PM
What are the advantages and disadvantages of these two methods to store your coins?

For exchanges, the convenience it provides is what makes it the general wallet that most people use. There are dozens of exchanges in the market which are available to our respective mobile phones and there are also local exchanges which are hosted per country. The downside is, the security of these exchanges are risky, given the fact that all of your stored BTCs are kept online which can be susceptible to hacking.

Hardware wallets are the go-to wallets when storing large amounts of BTCs. Most veterans here in the forum transfer their BTCs to this wallet for maximum security. Though the only downside that I can think of is the cost of acquiring such wallet. Other than that, this is the valid and safest choice if you were to transfer your BTCs.
2670  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling Court on: November 28, 2021, 03:47:45 PM
It may be that simple to think but it requires a lot of works and people to totally make it work especially in the internet. A cybercrime may contribute to what should the court would do but this will need a lot of work. Online gambling is everywhere and who's gonna handle each complaints?

I'm sure there are thousands of complaints for a certain online gambling sites but I think it's no different from creating a ticket to ask the support of a certain casino. I highly doubt someone would just make it happen or just let it go and slide since it's a very complicated situation.
That' is what I am thinking too it won't be easy  for something like this to take place. I think no need for  a gambling court, some other things can be think of to do than court.

Having an designated international court to handle all online gambling complaints is tremendously difficult due to the compliance of these countries to such regulation.

For example, the International Court of Justice (ICJ, in short) was established to handle complaints in countries who are affected of increasingly high crime rates. Unfortunately, even with the existence of this court, there are still countries who do not recognize their judgement as binding to their countries. Another example would be the United Nations.

Even if some countries do an act which is prohibited by the UN according to its charter, the only regulation that the latter can do is the limiting of their trades (which is what happened in North Korea). But other than that, they cannot totally compel a country to follow their laws.
2671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: November 28, 2021, 03:15:27 PM
Game 3 just ended and the result was to be expected- another draw from two (2) of the greatest chess players in the world.

It is noteworthy to mention that they played again the Spanish opening, which is similar to what happened in game 1. Upon the discussion in chess24, the commentaries mentioned that on November 26, someone on the cloud database in chess studied the actual position, hinting that it may either be Team Nepo or Team Magnus who forgot to make the analysis 'private'.

Though this is not that impactful in the game, any slight advantage that gives either team the advantage of knowing their respective preparation is beneficial. Tomorrow is a rest day and I am looking forward for game 4, in which Magnus will play white!
2672  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi, new guy! on: November 28, 2021, 02:26:30 PM
Can anyone let me know where we can make some bitcoins around here or sell off stuff for some bitcoins? Let me know, I want to join the waves.

It's better late than never. Welcome to Bitcointalk.  Cheesy
The easiest way to earn bitcoins with web development and WordPress is to offer your services and then invest your profits in bitcoin or get payment directly in the form of crypto. You might be interested in following the Services board, as some have already suggested, as there are often job offers there that might interest you. Good luck.

Just to add what Stalker mentioned, you can also browse through the marketplace section for other stuff. Under the services section of the forum, you can create a thread offering your specific services for a reasonable consideration (which is BTC), or you could go to the marketplace for general stuff for sale.

Mostly, I see lots of forum members posting threads under the Services board offering different requests depending on the needs of the client. Be careful, however, since there are some people who might take advantage of such.
2673  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: November 28, 2021, 12:08:24 PM
The game between the Nets vs Phoenix ended fairly tightly with the latter taking its 16th consecutive win! I am so excited for Tuesday since the Phoenix Suns will be facing the best team on the west, which is the Golden State Warriors. Currently, both teams have the same standings, with the exception of the Suns having 3 losses (17 wins both). We will now see a glimpse of the future- two teams battling for the playoff spot where they will be showcasing their team development and talent.

Personally, I am for GSW and my bets are with them throughout this season. I do hope that they are a playoff caliber team given the fact that they lack Klay and Wiseman on the offensive and defensive side but they still manage to come out on top.
2674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: November 27, 2021, 05:23:11 PM
El Salvador buys more 100 bitcoin making its total holding of bitcoin as 1220. President Nayib Bukele is quite has undergone lots of criticism for making bitcoin legal tender. He is strong in his decision making use of every dip happening in the market. Now the country holds something around $66 million worth in bitcoins. Even yesterday Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey criticised for El Salvador's decision on bitcoin usage.

This is interesting- so El Salvador implemented a law that allows Bitcoin to be categorized as 'legal tender' but they have around 1200 BTCs to their disposal? What could be the implications given that the government holds a relatively small amount of BTCs in their country? Given that it is recognized as legal tender, most of its citizens there would prefer to have it as part of their salary/income.

Though I do think that other countries could use this as an inspiration to adopt cryptocurrencies to their financial system. I can definitely see this as a long-term plan where El Salvador might be on the lead towards innovation and develoment.
2675  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: November 27, 2021, 04:59:09 PM
Game 2 just ended and like what David Howell said, this game was just a roller coaster of emotions all throughout!

Magnus got the perfect opening by transitioning from Queen's Gambit Declined to Catalan, in which he had a very strong white bishop. Though at the middle game, Nepo was able to cement his knight at d3 which somehow made Magnus uncomfortable. Magnus was also down on the exchange when two of the knights infiltrated and got the winning exchange (knight for a rook). But it all changed on move 25 when Nepo almost instantly pushed his c3 pawn which gave Magnus some breathing space to win his pawn back.

That was definitely a roller coaster of emotions. I really thought Magnus was going to lose this game but the slightest inaccuracy made by Nepo dictated the pace of the game which ultimately ended in a draw. As always, looking forward for game 3!
2676  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: Axie Infinity Philippine Thread on: November 27, 2021, 04:32:37 PM
Pangit lang dito is ung ginagawang ban wave nila is walang reason out like nag bigay lang sila ng general na ito mga reason for banning pero dapat mas okay if may individual note sila. Tsaka ung ngayon is parang chillin pa mga dev kasi ung burnign mechanism nila is wala padin ang nauuna is ung land which is more mag bibigay profit sa kanila hindi sa users nila.

In your opinion bro, sa tingin mo ba ang Axie tatagal long-term? Ang tingin daw nila, magiging 8-10 php per SLP daw by December.

I am still contemplating whether to enter the Axie hype or not. Naisip ko talaga na pwede ito for long-term gains kahit 4-6 months pa ang ROI since ang plan ko naman talaga is to HODL and invest. What do you guys think?
2677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: November 27, 2021, 02:58:31 PM
The game between GSW and Blazers ended fairly quickly with Curry tallying around 32 points with a couple of 3s. Though this is to be expected from the greatest shooter of all time, significant improvements can be seen on Wiggin's jumper as his 3-pt percentage is increasing slowly. His confidence on his shot selection and to drive to the basket is what makes him a previous no. 1 draft pick.

Someone mentioned that Curry is 44 3s away from breaking his own record of the most 3s in the history of basketball! I really have confidence that he may be able to snatch that MVP award this year, though it is too early to say. But from his performance alone, he is really dominating this season now.
2678  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you consider living on crypto? on: November 27, 2021, 12:35:41 PM
Was an interesting discussion as to where we stood. And was just wondering how everyone else thinks.
Gift cards? Debit cards? Get paid in BTC and convert to USD (or whatever) and put into your bank?

-Dave

To be honest, I am somehow imagining what would my life be if I were in your position, earning around roughly ~$300/week (assuming you do your complete post requirement) considering that I currently live in a third-world country.

As someone who is privileged enough to participate in a stable campaign, earning roughly $65/week in BTC, it definitely helped and supported me in various of ways. Though I do learned the hard-way that HODL is the key, spending my BTCs weekly would significantly help me with my monthly expenses as a post-graduate student!
2679  Economy / Economics / Re: New COVID strain may affect crypto valuation on: November 26, 2021, 11:46:48 PM
Lots of fear mongering.

I don't see how the news has anything to do with crypto valuation at all and it just seems a bit strange that BTC, which is an uncorrelated asset to most other stocks, would dump harder than even the travel sector stocks

Oh well, more time to buy up the dip Smiley

More of like looking at the reality of the situation rather than "feat mongering" lol. I don't get it either why a new covid strain would affect the cryptocurrency markets, but the fact is, there's a high likeliness that it indeed affected the markets in general; whether we like it or not. It already happened in 2020, so I wouldn't be surprised if it affected the markets again in the same way.

I do think that the cryptocurrency market will not be affected that much given that most countries are prepared and have already adjusted.

With the World Health Organization announcing a new strain of virus called Omicron, which is highly transmissible that can be found in parts of Africa, there is that potential of affecting the whole market like what happened when COVID first hit the countries. The difference is, most businesses have already adjusted to the 'new norma' and people have already been vaccinated. Though a new strain may be highly transmissible, I still doubt that it will affect and impact the cryptocurrency market that much for everyone to be worried about.
2680  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Habits to keep your bitcoin secure on: November 26, 2021, 05:32:35 PM
I am quite guilty on this one- especially that I have been transacting BTCs ever since I started on this forum last 2017.

To tell you the truth, I literally have no clue on how create a 'signed message'. In addition, most of my BTCs are stored only in a local exchange which further puts them at risk of being stolen in the event that a scam would transpire. I also lack the necessary and technical knowledge of the basic stuff that I need to know of storing my BTCs but the guide you provided made me think otherwise of my ignorant actions.

Practicing this as a habit can definitely be useful in the long run as this provides an extra layer of security in keeping one's BTCs.
