3321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling tax proposal in Ukraine on: June 09, 2021, 01:59:50 PM
Ok, let's discuss it from the government's perspective. Usually a government reduces tx burden on certain activity if they want to promote it and vice versa. If a government wants to slowly discourage gambling activities in their country, they may not take some drastic steps because it would affect the employment and the entire industry. So they go ahead with phased increase in taxes and licensing fees to make it harder for new companies to join the bandwagon.

I think Ukraine government is planning some sort of phased erosion of gambling activities in their country. Definitely they will face a lot of backlash from the industry. But the final decision is yet to be seen.

To be honest this makes sense if the government is indeed, trying to prevent other businesses from joining this bandwagon.

Personally, I see it on another perspective. Since the government sees that gambling establishments have been profitable over the past years (especially during this pandemic), it is normal for them to increase the taxes in order to get revenue. Such revenue now will enable the government to create projects for the benefit of their country. Of course, this scenario will happen in a perfect government where corruption is not present.
3322  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A legend was once a newbie on: June 08, 2021, 03:55:45 PM
Honestly rushing won't get you anywhere and you will end up messing up, fast rank up doesn't work out well if you are always in rush instead love what you do and you will be loved back, talk about crypto, solve problems, create interesting topics that people will want to talk about, there is no short cuts to growing

Lots of newbies fall in to this problem where they tend to rush posting while sacrificing quality.

Like what I previously mentioned to similar posts such as this one, the more you rush on getting merits, the harder would it be for you to actually receive one. Instead, focus on contributing to the forum (i.e. reporting scams, creating meaningful and insightful topics, share knowledge, etc.) and the merits will be the one chasing after your posts.

Every legendary member in the forum was once a newbie. Even the top ranking members here were once a newbie. But what separates them from at least 90% of the newbies is that they pushed harder and contribute enough to attain their respective ranks.
3323  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador plan to make BTC legal tender on: June 07, 2021, 09:22:55 PM
They can probably just use both, it's a difficult task to convert the population of El Salvador from using fiat to using cryptocurrencies because there's going to be some people that will be left behind because it's not like El Salvador is poverty free country. But nevertheless, both options will always be beneficial for bitcoin.

That is exactly the reason on what hinders a full-blown implementation of BTC as a valid legal tender.

In order for someone to use their BTC for transactions, it is essential that they either have a hardware wallet or at least an electronic gadget in which your coins are stored. Unfortunately, almost majority of the population of the world still live under poverty which lacks the access to this kind of technology.

Seeing that El Salvador has plans to make BTC as legal tender is definitely good news for long-term usage. Other countries might also mimic this move as BTC may be the future of transactions.
3324  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: You could die from trading. on: June 07, 2021, 08:29:56 PM
While I do understand the sentiments of others that they find it 'ridiculous' or 'impossible' for someone to take their own life due to a bad trade, let me just remind you that if you were in that position where you own millions of dollars worth of BTCs and you suddenly lost them, it may actually cross your mind about taking your own life.

Personally, I know someone famous who committed suicide due to losing millions of dollars in a crypto-trade and bad investment. Unfortunately, he was not able to shoulder and bear the loss which resulted to his taking of his own life.

You know behind, I never had the slightest thought that someone could actually die from trading. I just don't imagine it, it was more of a know fact for gambling and gamblers than traders. This was the case until I encountered a thread on the forum that actually talked about this issue. Of an actually trader that lost all his life savings with the recent dip in the crypto market. Bitcoin, altcoin and all that all gone with just one wrong move.

I mean, it is easy to say about it but once you are in that position where you own hundreds to thousands of BTCs then you lost them in trading, it may cross your mind about taking your own life. Like what I have mentioned, money drives people crazy and it pushes them to their limits.
3325  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's the motive behind the anti gambling campaign on: June 07, 2021, 06:15:30 PM
I don't think so, you have little chances to make money from gambling and it will take some time before you can set up a method or your own strategy so you can win, the anti-gambling sentiments are from people who are once compulsive gamblers or had one of their family members, it is to warn people not to consume all their times and money to gambling and not to be deceived that you can make money in gambling.
Each person has different views on what anti gambling campaign entails with. It may be negative for some and that's what OP thinks that he's being deprived of his chance of making money through gambling and that's understandable.

But on the other hand, we all have views on it and that's why it's very subjective.

Gambling is not per se, bad. What makes it bad is the addiction that a person garners from entering such activity without the necessary discipline and self-control.

Just like any addiction in the society, once it gets too much, then it will be considered bad or detrimental to the health of a person. There are always the sides of a spectrum, a person may be profitable in gambling while others feel the opposite. But the key factor here will always be one's self-control and discipline when it comes to these activities.

Hi, upon visiting your website, I seem to noticed that the 'team members' page contained pictures of BEARS with pseudonym names. I highly suggest and advice you, if it is possible, if you could post the identities of your team members and upload their respective photos with their social media links.

If you do not plan on disclosing their identities, then you should've not posted any team members page in the first place.

3327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley on: June 07, 2021, 03:36:05 PM
Their ability to make hype just makes people more curious about fight results with these crossovers. Since the tart of Mcgregor vs Mayweather, there had been more on the line like Tyson vs Jones exhibition and although it's never really a real fight because sometimes it seems to feel like a WWE, people buy the tickets.
When we've seen everything on the internet, I guess people want something new like embarrassing the whole sports like MMA vs Boxing.

I very much agree with your statement.

Thank you for bringing the fight between McGregor vs Mayweather. I think all of these exhibition fights, indeed started with that fight as the media and their promoters saw the potential of earning big chunks of cash due to the media's portrayal of these people. After that fight, lots of other exhibition fights started to erupt and even crossover matches.

With that being said, I do think that in the future, we'll see another exhibition fight involving celebrities or boxing/mma legends.

3329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you bet on Medieval MMA? on: June 07, 2021, 11:43:06 AM
Man, this is like a new world of complexity due to the number of elements present in this category that you need to consider.

Maybe, I would bet on small matches (i.e. 1v1, 2v2, or 5v5) but like 150v150, I wouldn't try to bet due to a number of circumstances that you have to consider. Well regardless, I find this Medieval MMA to be very interesting and I will definitely be entertained while watching them. It's like a glorified fencing but on a whole other level.

3331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ohio offering lottery prize worth one million for those that get the COVID shot on: June 06, 2021, 11:14:16 PM
In an attempt to increase the number of people getting vaccinated all kind of incentives are being given in the US, one of the most interesting is that those that get at least the first dose of the vaccine at Ohio will have a chance to win one million dollars, apparently there will five be prizes so a total five million dollars will be given for those that are willing to take the vaccine, and for those that are below the age of 18 there will be full scholarships being offered as well.

What do you think of this? Do you agree with what the governor of Ohio is doing or are you against it?

Source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-57096039

Personally, I find it really sad that the government has to put up a prize pool in order to convince those people to get vaccinated.

In the country where I live in, there are still a handful of people who think that getting vaccinated makes you more sick. The fact that the governor had to organize and to create a fund where only vaccinated people are eligible to participate is really sad considering that this is the only way in order to reach herd immunity.

From reading the comments, I noticed that there has been a declared winner. I do hope that whether or not he believes in the power of vaccine, this would affect people and convince them to get vaccinated soon in the future.
3332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man lost £20,000 in one night after becoming addicted to online gambling! on: June 06, 2021, 10:58:06 PM
Yes that is very bad but he seems to be a rich man, with him willing to bet a very large amount in just one night at least it identifies the gambler as having wealth. Indeed, gambling in big numbers isn't always about the rich because the poor can do it, but whether someone with £20,000 is considered poor and I don't think so. Therefore, he lost because of greed and with that defeat too, it was greed that might make him realize to quit gambling addiction but indeed, some of them will realize because they are in debt.

If he was indeed rich, then this story would have never got published in the tabloids. The reason why this story went viral is because this guy is almost bankrupt now and he is blaming the casino for not preventing his losses. As we all know, it is ridiculous to blame the casino instead of himself. The casino can be blamed only if they had rigged some of the games. As of now, there is no evidence for any of this. It was the responsibility of the gambler to play in an accountable manner, and he couldn't do that.

Ohh that's a cheap shot and considered desperate on the part of the gambler.

Blaming others for the mistake that you put yourself into is definitely a sign of addiction. They will always try to rationalize their wrong actions by putting the blame into others, hoping that they could save their face and their situation.

Like what I previously mentioned, there is this so called 'gambler's cycle' wherein once you start winning or losing in a bet, you will most likely bet again until you win or recover the losses that you incurred. This is most likely the situation that happened with this person. He won, he lost, he won again, he lost and the story continues until he depleted every resources he had.
3333  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] Argon - Fake Team on: June 06, 2021, 10:46:56 PM
It is a nice catch by op. They did not know or they could not understand that investors are now too much genius. Investors invests money after researching a lot of fact especially after researching team. When it is understood that the team is fake ultimately the project turns into scam project.

What they did was very embarrassing and appalling at the same time.

They really though they can get away with it. Spotting computer-generated AI images can be a bit tricky especially that such pictures really look like a real person. But once you zoom in into those pictures, you would see all the irregularities that would indicate that they are indeed, a fake image.
3334  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley on: June 06, 2021, 06:57:43 PM
Just a quick question, what is with these Paul brothers and their fights in boxing?

I mean, every time they get involved in a fight or something, the media explodes and tries to hype their fight. I find it so bad that their fight is way more advertised compared to some good old underrated fights in the boxing. In addition, both Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley aren't even boxers to begin with, while the latter being a MMA fighter.

However, I do agree that the reason on why they are advertised this much is because people are willing to watch them. The fame that the Paul brothers garnered due to their YouTube Platform enables to participate into these fights due to the sheer number of their fans willing to purchase tickets and watch them fight.
3335  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prayer and gambling. on: June 06, 2021, 07:07:32 AM
Remember that people do certain rituals before they engaged into something.

Personally, I used to put a nickel inside my shoe every time I present in the whole class because I believe it calms me done and it makes me more confident in speaking. Same goes to gambling, people pray every time they wish something would happen because it calms them down and it kinda rationalizes them that their actions are justified.

In a world that we live in, nothing is absolute. If all prayers were to come true, then there wouldn't be any problems in the world.
3336  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin - Medium of Exchange Vs Store of Value? on: June 05, 2021, 05:17:38 PM
Can somebody explain (or provide a link explaining) how an inherently deflationary/appreciating asset (like BTC or Gold) can serve as a medium of exchange versus just a store of value?

Bitcoin has the potential to become a medium of exchange since it has monetary value in which people transact with it along the blockchain. In addition, the transaction takes place without the intervention of any third-party consensus which provide anonymity.

Bitcoin can also be regarded as a store of value given its significant value in the market. The reason on why its value is so high is because of its limited supply and the willingness of people to purchase it at its price. It can be stored for long-term investment which has provided good returns as proven by the past.
3337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Economic Costs of Gambling on: June 05, 2021, 03:23:08 PM
1. Gambling in fact has many negative externalities. If someone gets addicted, the likelihood is much higher to be depressed. Depression is factor, which leads to high costs for the society.

2. Gambling addiction leads to economic costs because of crime actions. Other market actors have to increase their security standards, which means higher costs.

3. Many gambling addicts go as a consequence to jail. Jail means EXTREMELY high costs to society.

What are your thoughts on this topic?

While I do mostly agree with the points you raised, the claims that you made are all fallacious, being a slippery slope.

Any addiction caused to a person has always its negative externalities, not just gambling. While gambling may be considered one of those addictions that are common, you must also consider those other addictions as they contribute to the costs in society.

In addition, while those negative externalities in gambling are present, you cannot escape the fact that gambling brings revenue to the government. The revenue garnered from these gambling establishments enable to government to construct infrastructures which bring positive externalities as a result.

It is thus, imperative to know where to draw the line on how to balance these negative and positive externalities. While the result of gambling addiction is detrimental to the society, we also cannot disregard the financial aspect on how it brings revenue to the government.
3338  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bilyonaryo dahil kay BTC on: June 04, 2021, 08:12:10 PM

Noong una akong sumali dito sa forum way back in 2017, ang value ng 1 BTC was around P250,000.

3339  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul - June 6 on: June 04, 2021, 07:11:57 PM
Unless he has bet against himself for some dirty money there's no way on Earth that silly youtuber could win this game, I mean no way. If this is a fixed match we'll know as soon as it finishes.
It takes only one fist from Mayweather to destroy Logan

Regardless if the match is fixed or not (on who is going to be determined as a winner), there is no way in hell that a YouTuber will win against probably the best strategic boxer of all time.

Like what I previously mentioned, this game is actually a good business deal for both of them. Both will be guaranteed a hefty amount of money while at the same time, they would just goof around the boxing ring and pretend that everything is serious. I'd trade anything to be in the position of Logan Paul right now haha!
3340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The fall from 65k to $30k was the best thing to ever happen to Bitcoin on: June 04, 2021, 10:42:41 AM
When bitcoin rise in price, people who are waiting for a drop miss out, whereas people who are planning on selling earns more.

It's pretty neutral. There are winners and losers in whatever direction bitcoin goes.

That is the exact reason on why one should plan their investments and decide whether to take the loss or the profit.

Same concept in stocks, if you purchase some stocks in a company, you should already plan on which price you would sell those stocks before its price plummets down. Another example, in the last quarter of 2019 the price of bitcoin reached an ATH of $20,000 but a few weeks on its price decreased significantly to around $10,000.

If you really do plan on long-term investment, then BTC is the way to go but you must be ready of the consequences (such as this scenario).
