We are all one species but comprised of different individuals each with similar and
differing agendas and life goals.

As many have pointed out, without rules or some form of governance we all live in a very
chaotic world. There would be grave consequences for us all without laws. It would be a
lawless society, robbery, bullying, exploitation, rape, murder and warfare would be prevalent.
Maybe a utopia would exist in some areas until the bandits and scum found out.

People give out about governments and police but they are there to help us and actually
for the most part make a liveable society, there are things which they get wrong but those
wrongs are a minority.

.
You describe persons not humans. Persons do as told, even if it is illegal, see Nuernberg process.
Any War is only possible with people, because they have rank and leaders. Unter the law all Humans are equal, a equal can not tell another equal what to do
Humans are born with and have intrinsic values, moral judgments, possess reason and free will to govern.

I totally disagree, we are all born human but some of us may or may not, will or
will not succumb to greed, hatred and jealousy for example, some people will
have greater goals, desires and ambitions than others and some will do whatever it takes
to reach them, others would be content with what they have.

I know the OP didnt want history lessons but I will say that even with governments
and laws us humans throughout time have been killing each other anyway, do you
think it would be better without governments and laws?

Watched Ostapenko vs Kalinskaya today. Gotta watch out for Kalinskaya more often as she looked solid in rallies as well as serve. An upset by beating an ex-Grandslam Champion, who's been having a fairly consistent season. If the draw is favourable, Kalinskaya could reach quarters or semis at least.
Don't tell me that I didn't warn y'all. Kalinskaya beat Iga to reach the finals and will face another surprising Finalist Paolini, who will break into the top 20 in the WTA rankings for the first time in her career. My money is on Kalinskaya to win the finals. She's hitting really well and can move fairly well.

Yes a bit of an unbelievable final line up alright and interesting actually, if you
were to bet on that its very hard to pick a winner although Kalinskaya is favourite at
1.50 and Paolini is 2.60.

Kalinskaya to beat Swiatek would have been a great price I suspect. Iga as the number
1 ranked player and top seed does that regularly in your aments, lose when she really
shouldnt be losing.

Just watching Mensik v Monfils ATM, third set on serve, interesting to see who will
meet Khachanov in the final...

yea its the same as most people dont know hot the engine of their car works but yet they drive,
thats the way with people in general and FIAT, its familiar and they know how to use it and it
works for them. same as the car They have no reason to question why it can take a number of
days for transfers to issue, why they can only avail of services pertaining their money 5 days out
of 7 or how they dont realise that they just dont have full control of their money.

Getting into something new like Bitcoin is viewed as confusing, they cant even hold or touch it.
Also there has been a negative narrative about Bitcoin over the years which could possibly be
tainting some peoples view of Bitcoin which is used by criminals and drug dealers!

Time will change these peoples view of it I'm sure
465  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 22, 2024, 06:31:11 PM
Just reporting in on the ATP Doha,

Bit of an update and a bit of an upset today in the quarter final stage between Rublev and Mensik,
It was a two setter where Mensik beat the top seed. I'm not sure what odds Mensik was before
the match but he had to have been a good price.

Humbert was also up against Fils today and lost. The veteran French man is going really well here
and now plays the "Giant Killer" Mensik in the semi final tomorrow, thats a tough call to bet on IMO.

The second semi final is Popyrin v Khachanov - wont be betting on that one.

...
Odds today on ROLLBIT are Sinner 1.23 v 4.30 de Minaur. Is the Australian that much
of an outsider? I dont think so TBH.
...
This is brilliant for Jannik to be reaching #3 in the rankings, ok Medvedev is taking a break but
we all know Jannik deserves that position.
De Minaur is the player that normally Sinner has for the double. Italian guy know very well him and as I have reported De Minaur has never been able to won a single set against him! this is not a minor aspect in my opinion.  Yes finals are differents but Sinner was in a great shape.

Meanwhile Alcaraz isn't the same player that we have seen up to know. I am really curious to see his performance in Indian Wells.... hoping that he will solve his physical issuess.

ah yes they are really good friends.

Alcaraz has said that ATM he recons Sinner to be the best player , it all bodes well for Jannik
and unfortunately Alcaraz is not going well ATM.
466  Economy / Speculation / Re: As Bitcoin Prepare for more Bull, What's your Decision on: February 22, 2024, 05:45:38 PM
Thats right Lucius, if people havent made the move into Bitcoin by 2023 for example,
its FOMO time, and on the other hand there are others who think they are too late?
~snip~

My conclusion is that we still have the majority of those who want to invest in Bitcoin in the short term (quick in - quick out) and they are always waiting for some kind of sign. Those who have learned from past experiences assume that this year and the next year will be marked by price growth and have already invested when the price touched the bottom.

I'm not saying that now is a bad time for someone to invest in Bitcoin, but those who are only doing it for profit should have done it a long time ago. Invest today and if the price reaches $100k, you will have 100% profit - and if you invested a year ago at a price of $20k, you will have x5 profit, which is a huge difference.

As per threat title question, my decision will be to sell some for home repairs but the
majority will be HODL on.

Exactly, because the purpose of money is to be spent, and if it is spent on good things, then it is a smart investment.

also those who want to do it for profit can still make massive gains, where else would you get
100% profit within lets say for arguments sake 12 months if investing today?
467  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: February 22, 2024, 08:33:32 AM
Yea in the Six Nations the odds on Ireland and France are not great to say the least, Ireland @ 1.02
and France @ 1.008 and which are about right. I cant see either Wales beating Ireland and Italy
beating France.

The interesting game of the weekend is Scotland v England. Scotland have shown some Jekyll and
Hyde Rugby in their last two matches and are favourites for Saturday. England are definitely
beatable but I worry for Scotland in this match TBH.

There are other tournaments on this weekend in Europe

Round 16 of the Top14 in France

Round 13 of the English Premiership starts today with Leicester v Gloucester and Bristol v Northampton

Its hard to know who to back based on key players playing in the Six Nations this weekend.

As Bitcoin Prepare for more Bull, What's your Decision

Those who are only making decisions now are already quite late, because the right decisions are made long before any signs of a bull run appear. Besides, why get excited about some rather unimportant numbers, because until the price reaches $100k you don't need to open the champagne. I don't mean the need for some kind of exit point, but as some kind of milestone, Bitcoin at $100k and a market cap of around $2 trillion are certainly nice numbers.

Thats right Lucius, if people havent made the move into Bitcoin by 2023 for example,
its FOMO time, and on the other hand there are others who think they are too late?

$60k isnt really a target of note, there are obvious others and ones that some people
keep quoting:

ATH $69,000
$100,000
$250,000
$500,000
$1,000,000

TBH increments of $50k after we reach $100k is nice to mark.

As per threat title question, my decision will be to sell some for home repairs but the
majority will be HODL on.
469  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 21, 2024, 09:37:53 PM
I have bet rarely on tennis but I wanted to try a lot of games with odds of 1.10 and below in many different parlays and almost all of them were lost tickets. How come the bookies risk so big by giving these high odds to the opponents of the favorites, from what I have seen if we place single bets tickets to each one of these guys and some of them win we also win,how come such a strange situation in this type of sport.

I would say because most of the time or the vast majority of the time players, particularly
on the ATP side  with odds around 1.10 win!

A lot of people betting on the ATP wont bet on players with odds lower than 1.25, others
here can correct me.

Also IMO from what I have learned if I'm doing a parlay I keep the amount of bets
to a minimum, around 3. Obviously the more you add the higher the risk and the higher
the reward.

I have found that the WTA is more unpredictable.
470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 21, 2024, 08:14:13 AM
Andy Murray has been in a slump lately and is struggling to win matches. Murray has lost seven matches in a row and has one win in his last eleven matches. Murray is looking for a way out and now he needs to get back on track to turn his career around and he will be looking to do that in a tournament where he reached the final last year. Muller came to Qatar in good form and has won three of his last four matches. Muller is one step ahead of an out of form Murray in this match, but Murray might want to get back on track with this match. It's a critical match.

So Doha is the next tournament a lot of us will be following and yesterday Murray beat
Muller in 2 sets 6-1 and 7-5 in a tie break. He plays again today against Mensik who
I have never heard of but the key here is Murray is playing again within 24 hours and
he is the underdog at 2.2, anyone going to risk a bet on Murray at a good price?

Couple of interesting matches today, Bublik plays Fucsovics, Humbert plays Kotov and
Monfils plays Zhang.

Zhang has been playing and improving over the last few weeks and Monfils had
a tough'ish match yesterday against van de Zandschulp. Odds there are Monfils
1.65 v 2.15 Zhang, a bet on Zhang might work out!
471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it too advanced to get into Bitcoin now? on: February 20, 2024, 10:57:08 PM
So OP, what price do you want to buy Bitcoin at? $30k? well there is a very good chance
that $30k will not be seen again, we might not even see $40k again!

If you are waiting to time the absolute bottom of the market, good look to you, the bottom
could very well be todays market price!

Or you could wait a other 3 years an take the chance that the bottom of that cycle could
be $45k but in the mean time you missed out on this Bull run.

I don't have enough money that I would be willing to lose it or that I could invest in Bitcoin and enjoy the benefits of the next bull run. But sometimes, to take advantage of Bitcoin bull run, I make myself greedy to invest in Bitcoin. As a result I want to invest in Bitcoin by taking money from family or borrowing money in hopes of double profit. Since Bitcoin is limited, the bull run hasn't started yet, and Bitcoin is getting halved. On the other hand, I am afraid of losing. Now I am at a loss as to what to do. So I'm waiting for the price to drop to $25K–$30K. I don't know when Bitcoin will come back to this price.

I want advice, without being greedy, should I wait 2/3/4 years for the price to drop?
Or do I need to take the risk and invest in Bitcoin now?

Well I'm not a financial advisor so this is the way I see your predicament, If you
want to borrow money instead of using your own because you are afraid of losing it,
you would still have to pay the borrowings back with your own money "if" you lost!

I say if you wait 2, 3 or 4 years you will have missed out. Everyone is talking of hitting
the ATH soon, that was $69k and its about an increase of 25%....possibly before the halving.

As I said you might never be able to buy Bitcoin below $50k for a very long time, hedge
your bets and do it now, thats my thinking.
472  Economy / Speculation / Re: 60k possible before end of this month? on: February 20, 2024, 01:59:17 PM
$60k before the end of the month doesn't seem like a bad idea, but I'm inclined to believe the $60k was before the halving (whether someone agrees or not). However we only make predictions based on market sentiment and this may or may not be right. As long as we are holders, we will only get returns and the most important thing is that the target is achieved.

$500k is too high to be true, but $100k seems reasonable to expect as the new ATH after the halving. If the price of bitcoin can break the $100k level, then further possibilities can be expected. Of course, everyone expects prices to be higher year after year especially in bullish periods, but only the prices make sense.
But I'm not sure about the end of this month to $60K but I appreciate your point that $60K before the halving is still reasonable because there are two more months to the halving.
By making predictions on market sentiment it obviously makes sense how you see the movement, but I as a HODL don't care about $60K because for us it is still too low to give up bitcoin.

That's what we think now because $100K has not been reached then we will be increasingly difficult to reach the $500K mark, maybe someone else says this is excessive maybe YES or NO, but we don't have such high hopes because it doesn't make sense, even if the experts say $500K they have their own calculations.

We have passed $52k, only another $8 to go in 8 days, its possible just based on
what way the market has reacted over the last 2 weeks or so. Will it happen though?
thats anyones guess.

There are some people calling that the ATH of $69k can be reached and passed
before the halving, but yea anything is possible in this current climate.

Its probably a bit too early to be talking about $100k eventhough I have seen
it being called in the next 2 to 3 months nevermind $60k,  but that will be the next
big resistance point!

Well there isnt a massive amount of points between the top 3, 835 separates Alcaraz and
Sinner and 1585 separates Djokovic and Sinner, very doable.

Just watched the final over at Delray Beach in the U.S between Taylor Fritz and Tommy
Paul. It was a different level of Tennis than the Sinner v de Minaur final and there was no
atmosphere at all - altogether it was a bit lack lustre.

Fritz won 6-2, 6-3.

Just watched
475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you stand to gain from the bull run. on: February 19, 2024, 12:48:19 PM
I am pretty sure there will be two types of people during this bull run.

Those that sold too early and become mad that they sold too early.

And those that got greedy and didn’t sell near the top because it didn’t reach their target price. Only to sell later on the way down.

This happens every bull market. People either sell too early or too late. Hence why most should just dollar cost average the sales to get a good average.
This is not new to us as no matter how we encouraged people not to sell early or sell late, but sell only when it reaches its new ATH, majority still prefer to follow opposite direction. Hence, a lot are not making decent profits when bull run comes because of lack of patience and full of greediness.

However, the problem with this is that these people fail to recognize whether the price hits the new ATH or not, that’s why instead of selling at the current price, they tend to wait longer and end up selling when the price has declined. Thus, DCA should be more focused and practiced most especially that bitcoin halving and bitcoin bull run and just around the corner.

And the third type of people are the ones who dont care about selling early or late
and continue to HODL.

TBH I would criticise anyone for selling early or late, its their decision, but to
complain about the decision is not going to gain any sympathy.

Generally people also have to realise that timing the market is next to impossible.

What does the Bull run mean for me?

Besides the great feeling that the market is rising and there is a good buzz about
there will be a time next year when I can sell some Bitcoin at a profit to fix up my house,
garden and sheds.
476  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 18, 2024, 08:44:05 PM
Alcaraz loss against Jarry. It was not expected as result but personally I have seen him a bit "tired" in his game playing.
Sinner will play today against De Minaur. Australian player has lost all match against him but moreover he has never won a single set in 4 matches ... Odds as usual very low (Italian bookmakers @1.22)
Thanks to the Final Sinner will reach the third place in ATP Ranking. This is a record also for all Italian tennis player Roll Eyes
Yeah, Alcaraz losing in the semi was a huge surprise (also for bookies I guess). All in all, Carlitos doesn't look that hungry anymore, has he achieved all his life goals already? Money, fame, World #1 at such a young age...

Dubai WTA is live starting today. Russian tennis prodigy Mirra Andreeva unexpectedly lost to Peyton Stearns of the USA 2:6, 6:2, 1:6. For the world nr.65 it's just the second time in her career she beats a top50 player.

Another unexpected result is Ekaterina Alexandrova losing to Magdalena Frech 6:7, 3:6.

Tons of interesting matches coming up today including Paolini v Haddad Maia, Mertens v Tsurenko and Kenin v Cirstea.

Are we not all to harsh on Alcaraz? The guy is only 21 years and he is going through a period that not all things are going his way. It happens to all of us and I am pretty sure he will recover from this losses. The pressure on him and expectations are very high and that is not always easy to handle also.

Yes maybe, maybe he is training differently and trying new techniques and building
on shots or maybe there is a motivational lapse, or he will be winding up closer to
the French open, he is still a very sought after guy, former #1 and currently #2. Maybe
we shouldnt be on his case or worried for him.

Sinner did it again.

He is now number 3 in the world.

Do you think he can reach number 1 in the upcoming months?

Yea it was a very close match eventhough it was over in 2 sets, they were able to break
each other on a few occasions and some long rallies with super shot making.

#1 - yea maybe, it depends on what tournaments Djokovic plays and what Sinner can win,
I'm not sure how far away he is on the #2 spot, maybe we get an ATP update tomorrow on points?
477  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What is the benefit of taking hard drugs on: February 18, 2024, 07:28:11 PM
There can be nothing as both medicinal and harmful at sametime but yeah the dosage will define whether it would be medicinal or harmful. I think it would be better to avoid any such drugs which are harmful and addictive at the same time as over the time people will get addictive to such drugs even if it's taken for medicinal benefits. Same goes with the sleeping pills or any other medicines which gives relief but these are overused and abused.

Not only hard drugs but even a simple medicine can be harmful if over consumed.

Well there are lots of things which are both medicinal or even vital to life which can
also be harmful, Water is one, if you drink too much water too quickly you can poison
your system!

Unfortunately with hard drugs there is no Medicinal side, they are all purely harmful.
They dont have to kill to be harmful, any amount can and most likely will ruin whoever
gets into them.

Now as to smoking dead peoples bones...never heard anything like it.
478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 18, 2024, 10:10:46 AM
So its an all South American final down in Buenos Aires, as everyone is saying Jarry beating
Alcaraz is massive and in two sets.

Sinner got the job done against Griekspoor, he was much improved and looked way more sharper
than previous matches.

Alcaraz loss against Jarry. It was not expected as result but personally I have seen him a bit "tired" in his game playing.

Odds today on ROLLBIT are Sinner 1.23 v 4.30 de Minaur. Is the Australian that much
of an outsider? I dont think so TBH.

This is brilliant for Jannik to be reaching #3 in the rankings, ok Medvedev is taking a break but
we all know Jannik deserves that position.
479  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: February 18, 2024, 10:01:29 AM
I cant remember but is there an NRL match played in a different country every season?

Something similar happens in American Football College League, they play the first match
of the season in most cases Ireland!

All the favourites won yesterday in the URC which was brilliant for the "favourites bet".

Only 1 match today, Ospreys v Ulster. I'm not betting on this, I think its too close, they
are 10 and 8 respectively on the table.

480  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 17, 2024, 05:39:35 PM
just finished the first set Sinner against Raonic 7 - 6 . The canadian player has committed some errors during tie break and the loss was practically there. However great match between the two players, Raonic is not young anymore but has been able to compete very well today. let's see next set

edit
forfait. Raonic has just left the match.

Yes I was watching this, he is still succumbing to injuries. He did right, he was visually
struggling with his ankle I think so no point in damaging it further.

Sinner is struggling a bit in this tournament, he says ots the court and its heavyness,
I think he would have beaten Raonic last night anyway TBH

He plays homeboy Griekspoor who is having a fantastic tournament with his home crowd,
it will be a big upset though if he goes on to beat Sinner.

Second semi final is de Minaur v Dimitrov - there he is again in the mix, Dimitrov is again
playing great but he isnt favourite surprisingly.

Yeah, Dimitrov is showing some world-class tennis in Rotterdam. If you're placing bets on his matches you should take this into account. If he's not a favourite, perhaps it's a good chance to win some easy money.

Meanwhile at a bit neglected Argentina Open in Buenos Aires semi-finalists are known: Alcaraz is facing Jarry, while Coria and Diaz Acosta will meet in an all-Argentinian semifinal.

Yea, was wondering where Alcaraz was but didnt investigate it at all TBH. Looking now
at the semi finals line up and I would be massively surprised if Alcaraz doesnt win outright.

He is big favourite against Jarry @ 1.17

The Other semi final is Diaz Acosta v Coria, they are pretty much evens so it could
go either way and I cant see either of them posing a threat to Alcaraz in the final.

Over at Rotterdam IDK about betting on Dimitrov eventhough we agree he is playing
great tennis, de Minaur isnt favourite for nothing and I have a habit of backing the
favourite on most occasions.

EDIT--------

and de Minaur taken the semi final in 2 sets 4-6, 3-6
