481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk - February 2024 in Saudi Arabia on: December 22, 2023, 11:57:55 AM
That is true. Usyk took those belts from AJ, who previously got all vacant belts from various opponents. So basically, since 2015, all the 5 belts technically are still Fury's. But I would debate that Usyk got those belt more easily. Usyk got them from AJ, Fury got them from Klitchko. Why more easy? Because Wladimir got more victories and more experienced? But he wasnt in peak form, he was about to retire. More easy because AJ had weaker opponent than Wladimir in his path to belts?

Let us not debate on that as different boxer may have different strategy employed to win. Both Usyk and Fury are great boxers, that's why they are the champions, but if you would ask the people (majority), the answer is Fury is the better fighter as evidence by the betting odds that is on his favor.

We can debate here on whatever we believe, no right or wrong because it's our personal perspective, but we can always ask the professionals perspective, and this is their answer.

Quote
Tyson Fury Vs Oleksandr Usyk Betting Odds
Fighter   Odds
Tyson Fury   -175
Oleksandr Usyk   +137
I think it's not that he is better, but also the kind of opposition he faces before and of course his physical, he is the bigger fighter here. And with that odds it might be juicy for Usyk bettor here. We all know that there are boxing enthusiast that loves underdog so this could be a perfect time again to bet as Usyk is a live dog.

Also looking at how the Fury's are going to promote this fight, Tyson and his pops love to open their mouth but Usyk  looks alone is already intimidating already. And also Usyk manager is not going to back down on any trash talking from Fury's camp so it's going to be a great promotion.
482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney (9th of December) on: December 22, 2023, 11:13:10 AM
^^ There could be barriers, but I think if this manager and boxers wanted to get a huge paycheck, they will have to work with each other. Sho is no longer there, so DAZN should make everyone comfortable now as they could be the only network that can broadcast good fight.

And this is why the criticism about boxing in the last 10 years or so that it is dead as the promoters and network affiliations are the ones killing it.

But if they wanted to make money, for sure there are some middle ground that they can do so that we can witnesses good fight that fans wanted, not like exhibition or cherry pick fights.
483  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 22, 2023, 10:46:38 AM
I voted Timberwolves in the poll. They got another win tonight against the Lakers.
Yeah, only the Sixers was able to beat them the other game that we thought that they can win that as well. But Joel was unstoppable. Now they come back and bet the Lakers so they are definitely back. Lakers though will have to come out with plans to win games after winning the in season tournament. As if there were a switch on this team to turn from champions to loser.

The Wizards managed to get themselves a rare win tonight. Unfortunately the Pistons couldn’t follow them and instead dropped one to the Jazz who seemingly had half their team out for one reason or another.
Pistons was good during the 1st quarter, they took the lead. But the Jazz says that they don't want that team to give the Pistons a win and so their losing streak continues. Both are in the tail of the standing, but Jazz has more better player than Detroit.
484  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are we expecting between now and Bitcoin halving? on: December 21, 2023, 11:46:59 AM
26% in profit is very low. Decide for yourself, but I'm just putting myself on your shoes. That to me is nothing because the potential is way bigger than that. I'm even convinced that 100% growth is very possible less than a year from now.

The sentiment is generally bullish so I guess between now and the Bitcoin halving in April the price would slowly but surely climb higher. And it's not just the halving that is being influential right now. The Bitcoin spot ETF is actually a big factor.

I don't think 26% profit overall for my portfolio at this point is that bad considering we still have bull run to come for next few years.

I have some altcoins that I am up almost 1000% , some 500 % but also have some that I am down on around 30%.

I am looking forward to the next few years and hoping it can be the first step for me towards retiring in the 2028/29 bull run.
If you are looking for long term, yeah 26% might be low for now, but in the next bull run, let's say bitcoin goes on massive and end up like in the $160k as all time high, then that is already huge profit.

But if you say that you are going to hold for the next 5-6 years or so, it might be tough, but if you are looking to retire as a millionaire and willing to stay this long and continue to accumulate and retire, then goodluck to your plan mate.
485  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 21, 2023, 11:16:47 AM

And usually Luka thrived on this kind of comeback, but then again, the Clippers is also a good team that's why he had a hard time bringing the Mavs and then Leonard and Powell, specially Kawhi, came up big in the final quarter, so great job and their winning streak continues.
Not against a good team though, at least at the current status because before the win streak, the Clippers was the center of criticism as they have 4 star players and yet they are struggling to win. Another run that Dallas made was against the OKC, they made a history on that one with a 30-0 IIRC but they didn't win that, they still fall short though.

As for the Bulls, it's just 2 games though, maybe the absense of Lavine is doing great for the team right now. And this could be the lineup for them this season as there are news that Lavine wanted out of the Chicago Bulls and the rumor is that the Lakers is interested.

It's better if he will not come back, I think he wanted to be traded, so there's no reason the coaching staff will play him, for what? To destroy their good chemistry?
Just sad though that Lavine was touted to be their franchise player after he was traded to the Bulls, and then in the first couple of years he said he wanted to have help so they get DeRozan from San Antonio and then added players along the way.

So it might be the problem though is Lavine here, and I will say that he is not the franchise player that everyone expected him to be, maybe just another B-level player and I think DeRozan might be a perfect fit for the Bulls, sorry for the fans of Lavine here.
486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Local Base Or International Based Online Casino on: December 21, 2023, 10:41:15 AM
I vote for both, but mostly I gamble on online casino instead of local casino since I gamble on local casino only when my friends are free. It's hard to find a time where I and my friends are free, we're already busy with our own life.

While on online casino, I can gamble whenever I want.
It's the opposite with my friends, lol, at least in a month, we have like 2 out 4 going out to the casinos and enjoy, have fun with their girlfriends/wives and end up in the wee hours of the morning drinking and playing in a local casinos.

Of course, anyone can play in online and for me it's very dangerous as you can play anytime you want and could gamble and lost big money. And we hear that kind of stories here in our community as well. However, maybe the huge tx fees of crypto might have sway us away for now or just used other crypto that is cheap or even stable coins as a alternative to say Bitcoin.
487  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Teofimo Lopez Vs. Jamaine Ortiz WBO Welterweight Title February 8 on: December 21, 2023, 10:23:15 AM
Ortiz is a good contender but his best fights have been at lightweight. If he couldn't defeat Loma then I don't see how he can beat Teofimo in a higher weight class. We've seen Teo struggle against average fighters but maybe the win against Josh Taylor will give him the confidence he had been lacking in previous fights. This should be a nice showcase during Super Bowl week in Las Vegas. There will be lots of attention on this fight and if he wins Teofimo's next fight could be a PPV against Matias in New York.

He only had one lose against George Kambosos Jr, the boxer that was schooled by Devin Haney two times. Teo had a statement that he was not anymore comfortable on that weight os he moved up and he proved his excuse was true. Beating Josh Taylor who's also a champion, that would say a lot about the skills of Teo, and as long as he is very confident in the division he's holding now, I doubt a challenger who failed against Loma has a chance of upsetting him.

What we are seeing on Teo now is a more matured and smarter boxer. His loss to Kambosos was a wake up call that he cannot be too cocky all the time and underestimate his opponent.

If we watch again the fight, we will see that Teo aren't playing defense and was just trying to look for a one punch KO, but it's unfortunate for him as Kambosos wasn't playing around, he was too focus with his counterpunches that hurt Teo although Teo survived in the fight. That mistake will never happen again.
If I'm not mistaken, Teo was able able to knock down Kambosos in that fight? So he was trying to make a comeback, unfortunately he just fell short, but the scores were very close. So most likely it could go either way in that fight, if only Teo was very careful early and not let Kambosos take control.

But here it might be very different, for Ortiz, first time to move in 140 lbs, so there's no more weight drain. But we haven't seen his power yet or whether he can carry his true power in this weight class. So let's give Ortiz a benefit of a doubt and that it could be a better fight, more thant we expected.

Will the transaction fee will high if I send small amount under $50
You can but, it's impractical at this point as the fees are very high,

You can used viabtc as someone suggested, but you have,

Paste or enter the TXID you want to accelerate. The volume of a single transaction must be ≤0.5 KB, and the transaction fee rate should be ≥ 0.0001 BTC/KB.

https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator

If there is failure error it could be:

Out of quota: 100 FREE transactions are supported per hour. Please resubmit your TXID at next new hour (e.g. 13:00 sharp) or use Paid Service if it surpasses the hourly limit.
489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anything to worry about if you use mixers and not doing anything illegal? on: December 20, 2023, 09:22:13 PM
Anything to worry about if you use mixers and not doing anything illegal?
Will any one come knocking on your door if you use mixers and not doing anything illegal?
Will posts like this be banned too after Jan?
Will using mixers be an expensive?
If you know that you are not doing anything illegal and just using mixers for your privacy then why you have to worry though? Nah, I don't think that someone men in black will come knocking at your door just because you used mixers. They are still legal to use per se.

For the post about banning mixers here, you can read: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476162.0

Well if the fees are going to be expensive, then maybe mixers will be expensive too. Some of them though are advertised as free.
490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Michael Jordan a gambling addict ? on: December 20, 2023, 08:58:40 PM
I was recently arguing with someone whom stated that MJ is a gambling addict, and I pushed back.  I think we could probably all agree that being addicted to anything is never good, no matter what it is.  Michael is famous for being a big gambler.  However, it's not like that's the only thing he does in life.  He's a billionaire with many companies and countless things to do each day. Gambling doesn't effect those important things in life.

He takes care of his family, far from broke and gambling brings him entertainment.. so my question, would MJ be considered an addict?  I argue he's not.  He just loves to do it, but any negative effects may be literally zero ..
I can't recall MJ has history of big losses in a casino though, but if he did, that dude could probably make his own casino and not get broke. So I guess he could be categorically be called just a regular gambler, not that gambling addict or something.

Yeah, with his billions of dollars, he can definitely take care of his family, from his first marriage to the current one. And you can see that his kids and grandkids will not get broke because Jordan has built his generational wealth.

491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 20, 2023, 11:30:00 AM
Ja Morant is finally back and he did it with an awesome display of what he is capable of doing. In his return to the Grizzlies, Ja Morant led the way as they came back strong from 24 points down to beat the Pelicans, 115-113. What made the return more exceptional was when Morant made the buzzer shot to close the match.

The Memphis Grizzlies have 56 more matches left to play this season. The arrival of Morant could be late for them but if they can win 36 of those matches then they have a case to join the other playoff teams.

Yeah, he is back, but in the beginning the Memphis was shooting very bad, first two quarters that I thought that they are going to lost this one. Zion though in foul trouble early and it might help the Memphis to have a good run in the 3rd.

But in the 4th is was a total Memphis team. Ja took over as if he is not suspended and that drive and acrobatic shots never ceases to amaze NBA fans.

No one to blame but the Pels here, they know who is going to get the ball but still failed to cover and allowing Morant to make his 1:1.
492  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are we expecting between now and Bitcoin halving? on: December 19, 2023, 11:03:49 AM
First bull run coming up for me and after seeing the price of Bitcoin rally in the last few months particularly it is getting me somewhat excited for what is to come over the next few years.

I am just wondering what we are all expecting between now and the Bitcoin halving in April next year. Is it going to be a steady climb till then or is there usually a crash of some kind?

Up until now I have just been buying throughout the bear market and not sold anything , my portfolio is currently 26% in profit which I am happy with but wondering if I should keep holding till past the bull run or take some profits now.
Pre-halving? we might post $50k or higher?

Post-halving? after the first couple of weeks, maybe it will be just a slow increase in price. But after that, the whole 2024, could be one of the biggest run and it will continue till 2025. Specially that we have some news that is going to be massive, and that is the approval of Bitcoin Spot ETF, maybe it will be next year.

So for me, I wouldn't be surprised to see the price hitting 6 digits minimum, meaning $100k.
493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos and gamblers are struggling with high tx fees.? on: December 19, 2023, 10:14:35 AM
Exactly. Some crypto casinos I think has options to convert to other coins like Doge, Dash or other crypto that has a lesser transaction fee than Bitcoin. Not only online casino gamblers suffer this kind of thing but also traders. I don't think gamblers mind the fees, they maybe thinking of something like winning or some kind of strategy to beat the odds. 😁
Converting bitcoin to other coins is a solution so that gamblers can continue gambling and don't have to think about high transaction fees. By using other coins, they can save on transaction costs, and they can immediately gamble with coins. Big gamblers won't really mind the cost, but for those of us who are just small gamblers, we will choose to use other coins to gamble. I also use other coins like TRX, LTC, or even USDT because of their low transaction fees. But to respond to this situation of high transaction costs, I prefer to take a break from gambling and enjoy my free time by doing other things until the transaction costs decrease and return to normal.
Yes, it's really a struggle for us to really used bitcoin for our gambling as the fees are so high, although it has settled a bit, but there are days that it will shoot up to more than 400 sat/vB and it will hurt us.

So converting to altcoins or stable coins, or even just used local betting site and use our local fiat just to continue with our gambling. For now that's my option, not touching any crypto for the meantime and just withdraw if necessary so that I wouldn't be affected by this huge fees.
494  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rodriguez Vs Edwards IBF and IBO WORLD FLYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP DEC 16 2023 on: December 19, 2023, 09:50:20 AM
It's just unfortunate that fights like this in the lower weight categories are not generating enough attention this is the exact weight division where the great Pacquiao and up-and-coming great Inoue started and this is also the division where one of the greatest Mexican fighters reigns  Ricardo "El Finito" López, great prospects in the Bantamweight and Superwelterweight started here Bam Rodriguez should stay in the division or if Edwards ask for a rematch he should go for it after Inoue he is the next big star in the lower weight division.
True, just really sad to see that the lower weight class is not generation enough buzz even in the last 20 years. If not for the likes of Inoue at bantamweight, then we will not be interested at 112, 115 and 118.

But at least for now, we have a great fight in the future, Bam wants Juan Francisco Estrada.

That will be a banger fight, and hopefully we will see this next year. Although Rodriguez can also target a unification fight with the other champion here at the Flyweight division. Artem Dalakian and Julio Cesar Martinez, either fight will be solid. But if he can't make the weight at 112 lbs anymore, then it's time for him to move up to Jr. Bantamweight.
495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 19, 2023, 09:01:51 AM
And now that we are in the midst of the event of a boxing match and a unification of the belts actually I am having doubts about Marlon Tapales and whether he can go toe toe-to-toe against the monster Naoya Inoue, now here is a full breakdown of the event
Yes, right after Christmas we will be treated by this great fight. And I think everyone is excited, specially fans of Marlon Tapales, although some of us could be writing him off and not going to win, there could be surprises in boxing and this could be one of them.

And this could be the biggest surprises as this fight is going to be two fold.

If Inoue win, I will say that he is the fighter of the year, winning 4 belts in a year and unifying it, so he will be the next boxer after Crawford to do that. Unifying belts in 2 weight classes.

If Tapales win, this could be very well the upset of the year.
496  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc dump to 39600 on: December 19, 2023, 08:38:43 AM
Yeah I was watching the market yesterday and it looked like we would break the $40K support and head down there as many stops get hit. However it actually reversed.

Today we had lots of positive news with the etfs and we rallied all the way to $43.5k. So completely unexpected turn off events. Would of assume we would touch $40K and reverse but looks like it was front run.
Yes, $43k it is again, so there's no dump, or just minor dump we see. And it's obvious as there are profit taking. So it's total reversal as what the OP said. But then again, we can't blame speculators to think or want to see the price dumping so that they can enter at a lower price.

But its seems that this December is going to be another good month and we will end this year with a good price, maybe $45k is around the corner. But we will see, seems the bulls are now in total control of the market and they are hard to stop when they want to push the price. And then we have the ETF news, the noise behind is want really keeps the market in the bullish state.
497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which type of gambling have more gambling addicts ? on: December 18, 2023, 09:39:10 PM
I don't know if this has been discussed before or not.

Reading about gambling addiction I don't think it's a new topic, but fitting to be in here, I just want to ask: between casino gambling, in-house gambling, and one-on-one gambling with physical players available on the table, which among these is more likely to turn someone into a gambling addict if the person doesn't have self-control in all his gambling activities?

Now are days I see much or all this in house gamblers becoming addicted and acting weird over gambling results, and walking down into some betting shop, you will see most of those gamblers spending their whole day in the gambling shop, which made me have the above question. I know any form of gambling can produce gambling addicts, but among all, there is one that is most common, which is what I want to hear from others.
We really don't know that numbers though, but your observation is right, there are a lot of gambling addicts, whether in online and offline or land based casinos. When I do go on traditional based casinos, I will see some new faces, but majority are old ones, meaning they have been gambling there for whatever months or years already. And then when you go and bet online, same username as well and maybe you might have been talking to them as well.

So it's very different, but the effects are the same for this addicts, they will frequent gambling shops, traditional based casino as they are more comfortable. And then we have the new set of online gamblers as well.
498  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 18, 2023, 09:04:06 PM
Looks like the Warriors doesn't miss Draymond at all, since he was out they were already in a 2 winning streak.

And because of his absence, this opens up more playing opportunity for Trayce Jackson-Davis, who has been playing well in their win against the TrailBlazers. Though I don't want to get myself too excited on the win since I know myself that Trailblazers is not a playoff team, but the Warriors despite Curry was struggling, his teammates were able to step up, specially his splash brother Klay who scored 28 points that game.

Good thing they managed to win. But it's not that significant knowing they won against mediocre teams. And the Warriors only won by slim margins. The real score will be known in their next game as they will be hosting the Boston Celtics. If they can win that game then it's a sign that there is hope even without Draymond.

If the Warriors can maintain a rank in the top 8, then they'll be fine even without Draymond. But they'll need Draymond during the playoff games. The deep experience, superb defense, and the ability to set up plays are just too good to be missed by the Warriors.
I've seen some clips of a young Trayce Jackson-Davis, who fans says could be the answer for Draymond Green in Warriors uniform. I think though that it's too early, Green mentality is very different. But it's good that Kerr is now trying to experiment lineups with Trayce and even Podziemski has been playing solidly and has been in the starting lineup, not sure how many games already though.

However, they almost lost another game as it could be another collapse against Portland, good thing is that Klay Thompson delivered in this game again and so they are in a 2 game winning streak. But they are still way below the .500 mark, and their next game will be against league leading Boston at Chase center. This will be a big test for them.
499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Introducing bitcoin to the orphans on my birthday on: December 18, 2023, 08:49:10 PM
Yes, I do believed that we should share our blessings, specially in this Christmas season, it's gift giving and that should include BTC as well, so kudos to you. And definitely it's good to also introduce bitcoin to orphans as it is for everyone.

Who knows, maybe one day, those orphans might find someone who will adopt them permanently and perhaps get a good life, be educated and then didn't forget when you came to their orphanage and introduce bitcoin and someone struck in their minds. So in the future, learn about it and then become a investors and make them financially grow and have a good life.
500  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Andre August - December 15th in Florida on: December 16, 2023, 07:47:56 AM
You gotta give props to Jake Paul when they’re due. He knocked that Andre dude out in the first round with a wicked uppercut. Even the clip made it seem like there wasn’t much hype in the building but you have to consider this mission accomplished if you’re Jake Paul. A brutal knockout on a real boxer… That’s what people said he couldn’t do…
Yes, and probably this is not a fixed fight, I mean that KO is wicked, so we should give props to Jake Paul. However, August could be a consider as a pro boxer, but still though, his records are questionable. I think it takes more to really be recognized by boxing fans to be a real boxing. Nevertheless, if we look a this weight, he could be a CW and up in the pro ranks.

And it's true as per the odds, Jake even a non-pro is a huge favorite, so they know something, or at least the odd makers think that it's going to be a mismatch and that's what we see. For sure, Jake will look for another "pro-boxer" in his next fight and be the next victim so that his hype is going to continue.
