601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My friend's investment in Bitcoin on: May 23, 2023, 09:59:21 PM
One of my close friends his name is Naher. He came to visit my house. Once while discussing with him, I mentioned the name of bitcoin. He wanted to know what bitcoin is? I was telling him that bitcoin is a digital cryptocurrency coin launched in 2009 by a man named satoshi. I tell him Bitcoin has been around for 14 years. I give him more idea about Bitcoin. At one point he expressed his interest in investing in bitcoin, I told him that there is a possibility of not only profit but also loss from investment. To invest you have to take risk. My friend invests in bitcoin knowing profit loss. He works for a salary of about $400 per month. He invested about $500 in Bitcoins. I didn't show my friend interest in investing in bitcoin. He himself knowingly invested in bitcoin.
Did I give my friend the right advice?
You have given him the right advice he needs to hear. Maybe it’s already his own decision to invest with quite a bigger amount knowing he earns only $400 a month. I just hope he is aware that he can lose all his capital if he makes a single wrong move in his investment. However, for sure he will also learn something if he will lose his money in this investment. After all, losing is inevitable, we just have to be more open minded about it not just for bitcoin investment but even in other investments existing in the market.
602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wife discovers husband's hidden Bitcoin during divorce proceeding on: May 23, 2023, 09:39:24 PM
This is the first time I've heard a story like that, it appears that the wife is quite smart for hiring someone to investigate whether her husband has bitcoin or not. However it also seems that she's being greedy by wanting to split his bitcoin investment in half which amounts to a significant sum of money around 6 BTC for each of them. I think the husband should have considered sending his Bitcoin to a family member such as his mother or father in order to avoid falling into this situation. He could have learned from the case of Ahref Hakimi who faced a similar predicament with his ex-wife.

That should be the best idea I guess. If he can’t benefit the most of his bitcoin, then he should make a quick move to send his bitcoins to his loved ones or to his trusted family or friend. That way, his greedy wife will have nothing to gain from him. And talking about crypto hunter, no matter how professional he is, as long as the evidence has gone completely, then he can’t do nothing about it.
603  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What was your biggest fear with starting in crypto? on: May 23, 2023, 08:59:27 PM
Genuinely want to know what prevents your friends/gf/ colleagues from investing? Did you have any barriers when you first started?
Honestly, they’re afraid to be scammed on their funds and crypto investing is not an exception. So they really have a hard time believing that crypto investing is legit and will never scam their money. And as much as possible, I don’t want to dwell on their own investment as I don’t want to take the blame in the future. But somehow I also make clear to them that crypto is never a source of scams, that’s for them if they won’t still believe and would still doubt crypto.
604  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there any point to start trading with 20$? on: May 23, 2023, 08:43:59 PM
Hello everyone,

I’ve lately been trying alot of different ways to start making money but something in me tells me trading could be really fun and exciting to get into. Unfortunately I can’t afford to invest much right now so I’ve managed to invest around 20$ to get started. I’d really appreciate if you all could let me know if what i am doing is worth it or am I just wasting time?

Kind regards,
Human
You know there’s nothing wrong starting trading with a minimal amount. You are just a beginner so it’s just right that you have to put an amount that you can easily manage to lose. And besides, bigger capital does not necessarily mean that you will also gain bigger returns too, that is too hard to expect from trading. Trading outcome will depend everything on the trader’s abilities and skills to trade, and not that how big or small the capital is.
605  Economy / Economics / Re: When will we stop living for the weekend? Escaping the 9-5 life. on: May 22, 2023, 09:59:27 PM
The decision relies on you. You are the one take charge of your own life so you have make decisions that you will not regret in the future. If you stick to your job, that would be a lot better since the more sources of income you have, the bigger profits you will gain and earn. But if you get out from your comfort zone and explore other life's opportunities, then go but always be responsible of the results of your own actions. After all, we don't want to live our life in vain, we need to seek for our satisfaction in life and if it means living our current job, then so be it.
606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin investment, fulltime endeavor or side hustle? on: May 22, 2023, 09:40:07 PM
...

after this encounter, I decided to bring this question too to the Bitcoin community itself so I would hear from other traders like myself. What is your opinion about this would you quit your job and go into Bitcoin investment, considering it as a full-time hustle?

I want to ask you one thing. In your opinion, having one source of income or two sources of income, which is better? This life always contains surprises, so we always need B plans for it, and having 2 or more sources of income is one of those plans. With a world rife with inflation, and currencies depreciating daily, many people struggle to earn extra income from various jobs. Having 2 income sources is the dream of many people, including me.

As others have also said, bitcoin or crypto is too volatile and very risky. So quitting your job to spend all your time investing in bitcoin is really a bad idea. I completely agree with what those guys have said.
Any investment has its own risk and cannot guarantee consistent profits unlike a decent job that gives us fixed income every month. But I believe those who take the risk in leaving their jobs in exchange for investment have also their valid reason. If they have enough assets that will assure their bright future, then why not? After all, keeping a job will not make you rich overtime, but keeping an investment will create life changing progress if you work on it for long term.
607  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whats required of me as a newbie in other to grow in this prestigious forum? on: May 22, 2023, 08:59:26 PM
As a newbie I have been wondering what to do in other to grow and contribute to the success of this forum with my little knowledge.

Where am I not getting it right?

I need orientation from senior colleagues here.
Never settle for less knowledge but always do the means to make you updated and highly knowledgeable on every important topic in the forum. That means you have to keep learning and gain a lot of experience when it comes to crypto investing and even trading because that’s the only way you can give valuable contribution to the forum based on your personal mistakes and losses. Knowledge alone cannot make you a quality poster and a good contributor in the forum, but experience will always serve as the best teacher most especially for the newbies in the forum.
608  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Other Alternatives to Borrowing Money to Start Trading on: May 22, 2023, 08:35:26 PM
Instead of someone borrowing money to trade, it's better to start with the capital he has and the money is not used for anything. It will be safer for him, especially if he is still a beginner who wants to try trading. Surely that would make it difficult for him to make a profit.

No one will know when you will be able to profit. Even when the market is good, you can find it difficult to make profits because of greed to take more profits. So it is highly not recommended to borrow money to start trading but if he is really confident in his ability to earn profit, he can try it for a week.

I suggest not taking risks that you may not be able to afford. But if you are able and confident, just try it.
Borrowing money is mostly common for those who aim to trade and earn significant profits in the latter part. But is this really advisable? For me, if you do have the means to start trading with your own hard-earned money, then do it with a minimal amount. Borrowing is only advisable for those who already have expertise in trading so they have high chances to make it work. However, if we take the side of compounding, I’m afraid it will only make us lose more even the profits from our previous trades. It may work but mostly, it could add burden into your finances.
609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don't gamble if you don't have patience on: May 19, 2023, 05:10:46 PM
Your title pretty much says it all, one shouldn't gamble if they don't have patience of they will gamble away everything that they have since they wouldn't be able to control themselves in the middle of gambling and will eventually just spend every single dime they might have had just like you and regretting after that doesn't do any good at all.

If I was you, I would probably just get away from the platform for a while until the transaction is confirmed so that I can withdraw my funds, I have that kind of patience and I'm happy and proud that I do unlike many others who don't.

Good for you because you are quite well in-terms of managing your emotions, but we cannot really deny that there are a lot of gamblers out there who have the exact opposite attitude especially when they are on a streak like what the OP have said. OP have stated that while he was waiting for his transaction to go through his wallet, he was having a past-time in the same platform using $1 bet but he didn't foresee what will happen down the road as he was already sucked by his emotions.

IMO, it's not all about patience because partially, it is also about having a safe distance because the OP was just looking for a past time until the funds was credited to his wallet. He was just waiting and still playing because he got another transaction to do, which is already wrong because he could've done another thing for the meantime.
610  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 19, 2023, 04:38:24 PM
I believe the rest of the games will go under, especially in Game 3 and 4, where the Lakers will be playing on their home court. They are very physical and have been controlling the pace of the game. It's fortunate that the Nuggets had a strong 4th quarter, thanks to Jamal Murray, but as we can see, the outcome was below expectations.
Yeah, that might be the case in the next games to come. As Coach Malone said, Game 1 was a shootout but Game 2 will be an adjustment which means a higher level of defense and I don't think Game 3 will go back from being the likes of Game 1. I wish our bookies will go lower at 219 - 215 because both teams are still known for their high offensive ratings so that amount might still go over. Today was a bad start for the Nuggets and yet they still made 108. Their average on the season was 120+ in a W.

Later. Still in Boston Game 2.
Butler did great in Game 1 but I doubt the Celtics will give them 2 wins in a row in their home. That will be disrespectful to the Celtics fans if they lose again. I think they will win but in a close game. So I am better off taking the handicap for Miami Heat.
Boston Celtics - Miami Heat‍ - Miami Heat (10.5) @1.73
Over 213.5 @1.79

I like this one, risks are somehow minimized by increasing the handicap but I already got Miami Heat +8.5 @ 2.08. May be riskier bet but if the spread will be covered enough, the profit are somehow bigger because personally, I don't usually make bets lower than 1.85 as it's not profitable for me. Good luck to us bettors.

What do you think guys ? Can Lakers tie this series at 2-2 ? or Denver will make it 3-0

Hard to see the Lakers having a 3-0 deficit and if that happens, it will literally have a bad effect towards them and will probably destroy their confidence. For now, I can see a 2-1 standing in Game 3, 2-2 is somehow ambitious to ask as of now.
611  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: May 18, 2023, 06:55:19 PM
I'm seeing that if this fight is not going to be made, then maybe we will not see this happening this year and it might be too late for Donaire, in my opinion. Just a year added to Donaire's age might be huge.

Just saw a newsfeed in my social media account stating that a trainer of a gym in Cebu City is helping Donaire train for his upcoming fights, so i think that Donaire will be fighting this year but what caught my attention on that news (though not official) is that Donaire will be fighting Alexandro Barrios and not Alejandro Santiago whom we are speculating that the Filipino Flash will be fighting, that maybe the reason on the delay of the fight of Donaire as WBC might be shopping for his new opponent.

Quote
Doc J is helping Nonito Donaire Jr. prepare for his upcoming WBC bantamweight championship fight against Alexandro Barrios

That's great news! It adds some hope to the possibility of Donaire being able to fight this year. Regardless of who his opponent is, what's important is that he will have the opportunity to fight. We know he is not getting any younger, and if he successfully wins a championship, I believe Donaire will become more aggressive in challenging other champions to become a unified champion. The only boxer who has defeated him in this division has already moved up, so there's no one to hinder his path. However, as I mentioned, he needs to act quickly.

Yeah, It's better to know that he's preparing now, and that's simply saying that the fight will happen.

Let's see if there's any available update in coming days or months after seeing that Donaire is starting his conditioning training and we will going to find out if who will be the opponent between Barrios and Santiago as the OP's title might be change if the confirmation will be against Barrios and for sure Donaire will bring something to this fight to continue entertaining his fans and all those people who are hoping for him to bring the belt back.

Well, at least, we now have some better news after a long drought of having no updates. I personally agree that it doesn't matter anymore who will he fight this year as long as it will produce him a fight that is connected to the vacant WBC belt, whoever he is, I know that Donaire still got the upper hand because looking at the bantamweight right now, I think Moloney will be his biggest foe as the likes of Casimero and Inoue have already left the division.
612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: May 18, 2023, 05:31:21 PM
in terms of image, Casimero after this fight will no longer be seen with much expectation, what he could do was take a long time to prepare and get a fight with a very strong and popular fighter and in case of his victory, he would have very attention
The excuse given was that he was training in his home country and might have been distracted during training. However, let's avoid discussing excuses here, as both fighters are expected to perform at their best during the fight so the winner should be appreciated.

There's a reason why Casimero went to Thailand during his fight in Korea for him to focus. I also do not believe that Casimero was fully focused during his training camp in Cebu, Ph. He might have underestimated Fillipus which is why he avoided a more costly training camp abroad like Thailand. Casimero's lifestyle and becoming a part-time vlogger make it more difficult for him to focus if he stays in the country during training camps.

The fight is already done. Many fans did not appreciate Casimero's poor performance during that fight. Filippus might be heavy during fight night but that cannot be an excuse if you are looking for a fight with Naoya Inoue.

If John Riel Casimero really wanted to continue his love towards making a video, then he should make a choice so that he can focus on the things which he really wanted to do. Being a part-time vlogger while having an upcoming fight is a big no no because a slight distraction will make a difference when you're inside the ring fighting for your life and career, Casimero should already know the word discipline as he is not new anymore to this industry. Now if he kept on doing this, his preparations to be in a championship fight soon will probably be wasted as it will not make him ready at all.
613  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Online casino always take risks? on: May 18, 2023, 05:01:32 PM
Casinos are really making money that is why we are seeing new casinos being launch online and there numbers are increasing everyday. Influencers especially gambling ones are earning big from casinos because they are always inviting people to Casinos which is what is making many casinos keep having traffic. There are some bet that the house for have an edge over gamblers during winning that is why many of these casinos would never go bankrupt unless the team are misusing the casino funds anyhow.
But not all new casinos can compete with other new or old casinos because gamblers will choose a casino based on what they are looking for. It might be easy to launch that new casino but difficult to sustain it, let alone grow it until it becomes big and reputable. And this can only be achieved by a casino with a team that works hard and wants to make their business big. And to develop the casino to become big, it is necessary to promote and some casinos hire influencers to help market their casino.

Aside from what is stated, casinos also need to give more bonus to their existing clients and offers big bonuses to their new ones or give more what you're competitor offers to their own casinos. These may sound expensive and not profitable but in the long run, it will be all worth it, it's just all about sacrifice to be more known so that many customers will flock towards you as that will mean a steady flowing income.
614  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 17, 2023, 06:34:49 PM
I guess we need some laughs here, did you guys saw how Dwight's video making fun of inviting those that have been eliminated already like Julius Randle, Klay, Ayton, Poole and there are others. Well, it's actually funny how he's inviting them to play on T1 League in Taiwan. For the reference guys, I've seen it on this page on Facebook "Ballislife".

That's hilarious! Despite the fact that the players he called his team got eliminated, they are still in a good position as they are part of the biggest basketball league in the world, the NBA. Dwight is happy playing outside of his home country, but the players who were eliminated will surely improve in the next season.

So this goes for Dwight, can he come back to the NBA?

Yes, I saw that one as well on Facebook but the funniest thing for me in that clip is the fact how Howard pretends to forget about James Harden Cheesy

He literally gave him the last speech saying like it's really time for him to move towards another league. I know that he was just trolling but I think he got some deeper thoughts about Harden who often participates the playoffs but he's still unfortunate to win a ring, at least one.

Well, for Dwight Howard, it seems that he is indeed enjoying playing in Taiwan now and the question if he can go back to the NBA is quite vague as of this moment. I mean he still got a contract with Taiwan's Taoyuan Leopards and by the looks of it, there might be no franchise in the league right now who is willing to get him back from the free agency.
615  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul Vs Nate Diaz boxing Aug 5th on Dazn PPV on: May 17, 2023, 06:01:22 PM
These still do not make sense to me, there is absolutely no reason to keep this going, I mean just exhibition, I get it, there is no title or anything, I get it alright. But turning boxing into something to have fun vs turning boxing into just a mockery is getting out of hand. If Nate Diaz, even retired and older, can't end up beating the hell out of Jake (and I know Nate was MMA, not boxing) then this is just a ploy to make this go further. I just can't believe that people still keep paying good money to watch these, it should have been over after the first few ones. I can understand celebs vs celebs, but its becoming like celebs vs real fighters and I can't really see this going on much further without turning fighters into mockery, its just not good look at all. Soon plenty will start to think professional fighters are not that big of a deal at all.

This is a question of money, and if you clarify the question of supply and demand. This process has been going on for a long time - first (I'm talking about the sequence that I personally encountered with these phenomena) figure skating appeared where not pros but just famous personalities began to go on the ice, then these exhibition fights, then the football media league. Everything goes to the fact that people are not interested in watching the pros who train like crazy all their lives, but it is interesting to watch the efforts of amateurs (especially if they are celebrities). There is nothing you can do about it - people are willing to pay for it, which means that shows like this will continue and fights are just special cases of one big trend.

Yes, whether we like it or not. The demand is undeniable strong enough to create a hype and eventually a fight because organizers will surely take advantage of it as that literally translates into money. Other than that, there are lots of people who are willing to pay an expensive ticket just to see their idols who are not that known when it comes to professional scene, or they know that it's somehow impossible to see them fighting with the professionals, and exhibition fights are the nearest thing that can happen.

As a reference, Mayweather is the biggest actor in the world of contact sports as he knew exactly how to take advantage of the things that means money in his eyes. Hence why a fight between him and Logan Paul did happen as he practically knew that a YouTuber like Logan does have a huge fan base that are willing to support him in every path that he wanted to take.
616  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: May 16, 2023, 04:22:18 PM
Why do you have to visit 3 countries?, I think if you intend to watch the world cup matches live because your country's national team will play, just look at the group phase where your country will be based camp, after that if they can advance to the next round then the United States is the choice because this country has a larger portion of organizing matches than the other two countries, but if you don't have the funds for that then it's actually not a problem because matches will always be broadcast live and that's enough in my opinion because I will like that too.

That is not a fair argument. There are millions of football fans around the world, who want to watch the world cup matches in person rather than on television. And conducting the tournament in three countries instead of one complicates things for them. The last time world cup was co-hosted was in 2002, when the matches were staged in Japan and South Korea. Even then, the distance between venues were manageable. But that is not the case with USA and Canada. Boston to San Francisco is close to 5,000 km and even by air it will take 6-7 hours. And then there are visa requirements to travel in the US. Getting a US visa can be very difficult.

There should be no problem getting Canada's visa if the holder is already holding a US visa as that will be a clear sign that the person holding it is not on anybody else's blocklist. While Mexico is somewhat a free country where you can visit without having any visa for a good 6 months or 180 days to be exact. Moreover, if you're someone who's living in a first world country, you wouldn't have to think of these problems as almost everything can be achievable with just a passport.
617  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you spend more-do you get more? on: May 16, 2023, 04:06:36 AM
Usually that's a biblical statement and it only works for those who are spiritually committed otherwise it won't work for you. As a normal person living above your standard will only leads you to live in debt because you are dispensing more than you received, if the given or distribution is connected to the body of Christ then I am sure would be spiritually backend.

That's why as a Young growing man you don't need to involve and imposed much responsibilities on you that's above your income, out of 100 percent of your income per months you are only encourage to live below 45 percent of it and the 55 percent should fall below your savings and investment by so doing you won't go into debt.
That phrase they said never work that way, it all depends on mindset and also when you are giving and expecting something in returns might not triggers it to work effectively.
This is the same with the statement, The more you give, the more you receive. Of course, you won’t be able to give something if you’ll not spend any amount. But only spend within your means. That means, do not spend more than of your income. Otherwise, if you overspend by not following your budget list, most likely you will struggle on your finances later on until you end up taking some debts and drown into it. If you keep that mindset, expect that you will never be successful if you decide to invest or trade. Manage your finances first and learn to spend only your spare money.
618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How important is it to keep your bitcoin investments secret from others ? on: May 16, 2023, 03:26:22 AM
Recently, I came to read this news

https://protos.com/spanish-police-rescue-crypto-investor-kidnapped-on-holiday/

The first thing that came to my mind after reading this was that one should not talk about his crypto investments with strangers or friends as it can pose various risks. If you are active on forums like bitcointalk and involved in trades, you should not give information which can help others relate to your identity.
Is there really a need to share what’s been going on in our private life? I guess the fact that people are too trusting even in strangers make them the immediate target of the scammers or kidnappers. Because if they just live life simply like what regular people did, they won’t end up being kidnapped or scammed in some ways. But the moment that they start to boast their achievements, even if the intention is not really bragging, but people will always see it differently. Most particularly for scammers and hackers as they always find victims as it’s also their only source of income in order for them to live.
619  Economy / Economics / Re: Why you should use spare money to invest on: May 16, 2023, 02:56:22 AM
There is no need to risk even small money as a newbie, for experience it is better to use a demo trading account. Once you are confident in making profitable trades, then you can use your spare money.
The demo only helps you to understand some trading features, it will not help you make the same profits when you enter a live account.

Investing and trading is a risky activity, so if you are too paranoid about the risks that exist then please do not trade or invest. To become a successful investor and trader to earn returns, you must consider the risks even if you have to start with a small budget. Do research, learn more and gain experience.
Live with the risks and embrace them. That way, you don’t have to fear those risks as they can be part of your future success. Otherwise, if you don’t take risks, you’ll never have something to achieve. And never stop from learning from all the experiences that you may encounter, especially those who made you experience losses as they can be your motivation to improve on your own craft. Demo trading might only be good for beginners but it can never guarantee success when you’re in live trading. Experience is still the best teacher.
620  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can copy trading be profitable on: May 15, 2023, 09:58:32 PM
Is copy trading worth it

Can I make 20$ per day if I have 2000$
Copy trading cannot guarantee profit making. Even if you copy trades from professional traders, that won't mean that since those trading strategies work for them, then they will also work for you. Also, trading is never capable for daily profits. Though it can be a good side hustle but never expect that you will gain quick profits in trading. The ability to be profitable in trading depends on the trader itself but trading itself has its own process and depends much on the market behavior which will signify if your market trades will succeed or not.
