621  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - December 26 on: November 02, 2023, 12:16:01 PM
It's fair though that team Tapales will request this kind of testing. And I think Inoue has been doing this as well every other fight. It's that maybe this is just highlighted by the camp of Tapales and make some noises about this. They could have their own allegations, but if there is no evidence, we could assume that Inoue is really clean and hasn't taken any drugs.
Regardless of the test outcome, even if Inoue is found to be drug-free, there should be no question about it. The purpose of such tests is to ensure that a boxer doesn't use medications that could improve their performance. It's unfair to boxers who work hard and compete honestly to win.

As for the gloves, I don't think it's significant though or has bearing on the result of the fight. Although it will favor Inoue to have thin gloves as he is the power puncher it could also backfire on him as it could case some hand injuries.

No matter what gloves they use, Inoue will always have a power advantage. What Tapales should do is simply avoid Inoue's punches and come up with a good strategy to land his own punches. If they continue to argue over even minor matters like this, it would become clear that they're just complicating things to make excuses, much like Inoue's previous opponent, Fulton.

I guess I'll pick the Warriors instead as they are on a hot streak and haven't won a home game yet, so this could be it. Warriors -7 BTW.

You lose your bet there mate but what a hell of a game was that for the Warriors. Klay Thompson hitting that clutch jumper that sealed a one-point win for them. The Kings just couldn't be shaken away by the Warriors, they were always leading until that shot by Thompson.

Lose my bet there too but no regrets as i really enjoyed watching the game. Kings and Warriors games is always a fun to watch as they are building a rivalry in the West.

Yeah, the Warriors won that one by just one point. It was a very defensive game, and both teams scored less than they usually do. However, I saw a playoff-like intensity in that game, so it's okay to lose as long as I enjoyed it. I'll come back tomorrow looking for a bounce-back win.

Speaking of tomorrow's games, I think I'll support the Suns with an -8 point spread. It might be a bit high, but it would be a disappointment if the Suns lost twice at home.
623  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: November 01, 2023, 11:08:11 PM

Nuggets vs Wolves  Nuggets -1.5, Denver still very hot and since Wolves is still missing Ja, I think the Nuggets can cover this handicap.

Who's Ja by the way? Sorry, are referring to Ja Morant?

Actually, I'm quite skeptical about the line, it opened probably at -1.5, now at -2, but I feel there's something wrong with it, it could be higher than that so I might gonna sit this game out, instead I'll be looking on other games on the board.

I guess I'll pick the Warriors instead as they are on a hot streak and haven't won a home game yet, so this could be it. Warriors -7 BTW.
624  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - December 26 on: November 01, 2023, 10:27:13 PM

This is a unification fight, they'll do everything to make it a clean fight, and if that drug testing is requred, then I think both camp should comply with that.

That's a fair point. Anyone should be able to request drug testing to ensure that a boxer is not cheating. I believe it needs to be mandatory, especially for big fights like this one. Whoever wins this fight will become an undisputed champion, and it's detrimental to boxing if people start to doubt a champion's reputation due to non-compliance with drug testing rules.

Inoue's undeniable strength might lead opponents to question whether his power is natural or the result of performance-enhancing drugs.
So this means that in every fight on which Inoue is really that taking up some drugs? This is really some shit kind of assumptions or throwing up some accusations without proof.
These ideas would really just come up on the time that there would really be some questions in regarding power and toughness on which people would really be starting on having doubts on which it isnt something new.
To remove out those kind of doubts and issues in regarding power then it should really be that mandatory or something that should really be added on boxing rules.
Accusations like this should really be something needs up to be proven but would they really that be allowing to take up some test before the fight? It should really be that fair
so that there would be no questions asked.

This isn't an accusation but rather a request for drug testing, likely stemming from doubts within the Tapales camp prior to their significant fight. Given the high stakes in this match, it doesn't seem excessive. No boxer should be allowed to gain an unfair advantage, especially from Tapales' perspective. If he were to upset Inoue, it could propel his name to the forefront, opening doors for major fight opportunities and allowing him to have a say in revenue sharing arrangements.
625  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 01, 2023, 10:06:25 PM
I enjoyed seeing all the players dressing up for Halloween. Steph Curry had maybe the most entertaining costume. Unfortunately for my home team Suns it was not a great holiday. Not taking a timeout at the end and losing the game while leading all but the last 2.2 seconds is a wild turn of events. The coach should take responsibility for that L.
That steal off of KD was hilarious. KD looked dumbfounded. I know Booker and Beal are out right not, but I really don't feel like the Spurs should have been in that game and the plays at the end shouldn't have mattered. Suns IMO are fairly deep with KD, Gordon, Nurkic, Allen, and Watanabe they should have handled the Spurs easily.

Bettors are disappointed with the outcome as well. At one point, it seemed like a certain victory for the Suns, but then the big lead evaporated, leading to a surprising loss. However, there's no need to be overly concerned because the Suns have a day of rest to analyze their mistakes. They'll have a rematch the following day at the same venue, and it's highly likely that the outcome won't be the same.

It's important to always consider our future, as there's no guarantee of what lies ahead. That's why it's recommended to save money for emergencies. According to what I've read, having at least six months' worth of your monthly salary in savings can provide a safety net to cover your expenses while you search for a job or clients. It all comes down to discipline – it's fine to enjoy your earnings, as they say money is meant to be spent, but it's crucial to make wise choices in how you spend it.

Some individuals, even while employed, engage in side jobs or start small businesses to ensure they have an additional source of income. This strategy helps mitigate the risk of unforeseen challenges, much like what happened to you when you lost your client and faced difficulties. Diversifying income sources is akin to the concept of minimizing risk by not putting all your eggs in one basket, as we often do in investments.

And, that's why Morris wasn't with the team during the last game, the report that he wasn't on the team maybe he was upset he got the news. Well, I'm a Clippers fan but I don't know how they would make this thing work out, their depth is good at least if they have all the healthy players though. I hope Harden just play better now that his wish was fulfilled and he should be or he would just to leave with another team again.
I'm not even sure if their coach is built to handle this many all-stars in one team. The addition of Harden messes up the team chemistry of the three that's been built already.
No, not yet. Let's refrain from drawing conclusions at this point. Even before they acquired Harden through a trade that involved multiple players, they had thoroughly analyzed this factor. They recognized that without changes to the team, reaching the Finals was unlikely. With Harden on board, even in the event of an injury to one of their starters, they still have three, so their main focus now, apart from building team chemistry, is to enhance their second unit.

It's a weird line up if all of them are in the court at the same time but I was thinking maybe it could work if Kahwi and PG will have to focus more on the defensive end while Harden and WB handles offense.

WB to handle the offense? Are you kidding me? No man, he can't shoot.
628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 30, 2023, 11:50:29 PM
Well for me people's winner is Ngannou because he dropped Fury despite of having no puro boxing experience at all, that's a big win for him BUT for the judges, it's a win round for Ngannou and that's only fair. IMO, the knockout wasn't the game decision for the judges, and take note that in boxing the judges only matters, and for them it's Fury who won that fight. I'm not a pro, just an audience, there are some technical scoring in boxing where judges are paid to point, I think that's where Ngannou lacked of, remember it's a split decision either of them could have won.

But if I were to judge it could have been a draw.

Ngannou scored a knockdown an dealt more damage to Fury than Fury did to him, but winning by decision was never an option for Francis. The good thing is, he doesn't really need it. He presented himself phenomenally against the current, non-retired world champion and, whether the decision was correct or not, he's perceived as a big winner of the fight. Despite official loss, he now has much more options in his career - he could go back to mma, fight a rematch against Fury or fight some other top name in boxing.
Winning wouldn't change much for Ngannou, but it would be devastating to Fury and the entire boxing world and Fury's fight against Usyk could fall through. But both still remain undefeated.

Ngannou has introuduce himself well to the world, and in one fight has become a superstar in the world of boxing. He is very popular now so it's time for him to make a critical decision. Given the significant pay gap, I believe Ngannou should seriously contemplate focusing on his career in boxing. He could potentially take on established heavyweights like Wilder, Joshua, and others with impressive records. This transition seems quite feasible, as promoters won't have to worry about whether fans will tune in – Ngannou's fights are bound to draw attention.

Have you seen this play from Curry against Brooks?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VY8BEYWigo

You better watch out, folks! Curry pulled off an incredible move, and Brooks seemed completely lost when trying to guard him. I must say, I loved Curry's reaction. It's my opinion that Brooks had it coming, considering his history of disrespect towards Curry and his teammates in their past encounters, prior to his trade.
I wonder what if it happened in the home court of the Warriors? For sure fans will go nuts with what they saw.
TBH, I watched it more than 10x, and my reaction while watching it wasn't changed. Just surprising, but that's the reason why even the best defenders are having a hard time defending him.

What Curry is also doing this season is that he will shoot a three then he will go back to defend even though the ball didn't went in yet. Talking about the confidence from the greatest shooter of all time. Many are talking about the Bucks winning it all because of that trade, but people forget the tight competition in the West last season, and there's a chance that it might happen again since there aren't that much changes. Of course as a Warrior fan, I will root them as the winners of the West. Cheesy

Curry seems to have found his rhythm early this season by sharing some of the playmaking responsibilities with CP3. With CP3's strong court vision and ability to find open teammates, Curry has been able to focus more on his shooting. It's not just Curry who has benefited from this change because when we look at Klay Thompson's stats, we can see that he's also improved, with an impressive 5 out of 10 shots made beyond the arc on this particular game.

As for Brooks, he's a good defender, but he's a better dancer. Tongue

As for Curry's move in that game, it was truly a classic moment that people won't easily forget, especially considering that it's on Brooks.
630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can loneliness make one addicted to gambling on: October 30, 2023, 12:37:58 PM

Later he open up to have been using $500 for gambling per day, he said all these started when his wife left him, that he isn't into gambling at all, but I can't ask why his wife left him in the first place, but does loneliness make people become addicted to gambling or it's something else.

It's evident that he turned to gambling as a result of loneliness, which initially set in when his wife left him. Perhaps he was already feeling quite miserable. However, I can't help but wonder, is it true that he's spending $500 per day? That's a substantial amount of money. If he's living paycheck to paycheck, I believe he's being quite irresponsible when it comes to gambling. This form of entertainment can be very risky for him.

Yes. The fact that his friend is gambling large amounts daily is worrying for sure.  Loneliness pushes people toward addictions sometimes, no doubt.  But there's usually other emotional and psychological stuff going on too with full addictions.  Its complicated.

Addiction to anything - gambling, substances, whatever - has many layers to it beyond just loneliness.  But loneliness can be a gateway.  It's a starting place for understanding what's up with his friend, imho.

I'm uncertain about what might happen to his friend, but one thing is clear: if he continues to gamble substantial amounts of money on a daily basis, he's likely to learn the hard way. It's possible that he could lose his job, and the worst-case scenario would be ending up homeless. While we hope for the best, I strongly advise @OP to talk to his friend and encourage him to seek serious help.

632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you use your free bets to ensure result on: October 29, 2023, 04:27:42 PM

We're given free bets after signing up to an operator when making a minimum deposit, we claim bonuses with it. I don't normally try claiming bonuses for I know the wagering requirement but I'm trying it this time.

It's quite common for gambling sites to offer enticing bonuses as a way to attract gamblers. However, some individuals take a more serious approach and prioritize the reputation of the gambling site as their foremost consideration. On the other hand, there are also gamblers who appreciate signing up bonuses. While it's advisable to claim any bonuses offered, it's essential not to become overly fixated on them. Instead, the primary focus should be on increasing your chances of winning your bets.

If you are to use them to your advantage and turn it into coins how do you do it? Besides betting on both sides it sure is but you know the math of it.

This strategy is only applicable when you're at the final stage of meeting your wagering requirements. You have the option to bet on both sides to ensure a profit. The potential outcomes range from breaking even to winning modestly or hitting it big. The key point is that you won't incur losses with this approach, but it's worth noting that fulfilling the wagering requirements is very challenging.

And so the reason I wanna keep winning and turn these free bets into BTC. I was doing that both sides for a week, I getting hopeless about it while the amount getting lesser and lesser.

Either way, I wouldn't want to waste free bets all because it's free. You as a gambler always make a deposit so you can participate in betting, you have to make it worth it and turn it into a profit.  I have done most of the suggestions though. I got some wins and some losses.  This time that the imminent bull market is coming, it seems like every sats is worth keeping.

The bull market should not impact your betting decisions. If you find yourself regretting losses, it's likely that you're wagering more than you can comfortably afford to lose. Personally, I appreciate free bets, but I typically receive them from the longstanding gambling sites I've been using. You could say it's a reward for my loyalty. The free bets I receive usually don't come with a high wagering requirement.

634  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a Top-down or Bottom-up bettor? on: October 26, 2023, 03:40:12 PM
In top-down betting you find a reliable source of information which is often sharp sportsbooks and look for better odds elsewhere which creates positive expected value bets.

What do you mean by sharp sportsbooks? is it just a typo error, or you mean sharp bettors?

As for me, I don't think I belong to that (top-down betting )category. My betting approach is pretty simple. I stick to a particular gambling site that I'm comfortable with, and I don't shop around for odds on different sportsbooks. I believe that if there are differences in odds, they are usually minimal. I do a bit of research, but most of the time, I trust my instincts.

The one thing I do apply with great discipline is bankroll management. To me, that's the most critical aspect, right alongside selecting the winning bets.

Hey sports enthusiasts,

We've got two games coming up tomorrow, and here are the betting spreads:

Sixers @ Bucks: -6.5
Suns @ Lakers: -5.5

As you've probably noticed, the Lakers are now heavy favorites at -5.5. This line was initially set at just -1.5 for the Lakers, but that changed due to the news about Booker, who's doubtful to play due to a foot injury. It doesn't seem to be a severe injury, but he's likely resting for this game. Do you think Durant can lead his team to a victory?

You can check  my previous post for the details.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1220979.msg63058095#msg63058095

I'm leaning towards picking the Lakers to win and cover the spread. They're coming off a tough loss on the road, and this game marks their home opener against an undermanned Phoenix team. There doesn't seem to be a compelling reason why they can't secure the victory.

While we all know Durant is a superstar but he is not anymore on his prime, while the Lakers with their full squad are in full strength. I believe the Suns' offense may struggle to keep up with the Lakers. My prediction is that the Lakers will win and cover the spread as they might win by double digit.
636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Live Sports Betting vs virtual Games Betting on: October 26, 2023, 07:01:05 AM
Since I am not so familiar with virtual betting, I made some research regarding that one before I post my commnet.

So here's what I found.

Popular Virtual Sports to Bet On
There are a variety of virtual sports available to bet on in the US, and more are popping up all the time. Here are some of the most popular games:

Virtual soccer
Virtual horse racing
Virtual greyhound racing
Virtual tennis
Virtual basketball
Virtual motorsport
Virtual football
Virtual cycling
Virtual darts

Most of the sports listed also have sports betting odds, like the real ones. So, it wouldn't make sense for me to bet on a game like virtual basketball when there's an ongoing NBA season, which is my favorite. For me, it's sports betting.
637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 26, 2023, 06:29:02 AM
The story of the day for me was Zion making his debut after another long injury recovery. He didn’t do bad, putting up 23 points and 7 rebounds. I would have thought that they would beat the Grizzlies by more considering Memphis is without their starting pg and center, but at least Zion was able to help deliver his team a win.
He hasn't changed much; he continues to contribute with some consistency. Looking at his physique, he still appears quite a huge guy. Hopefully, he won't get injured this season, as there were debates in the past that he was overweight, which may have led to his injuries.

On the other hand, I enjoyed the other game between Dallas and the Spurs. It seems like Luka and Irving have found great chemistry; the ball movement was a pleasure to watch. They won that game in a close contest. Victor was a beast in the 4th quarter. It's just unfortunate that he didn't get to play many minutes due to early foul trouble.
638  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: October 25, 2023, 01:53:57 PM
I decided to toss up a little parlay to get some multi bet excitement going for tonight’s games. I got the Nuggets beating the Lakers and the Suns beating the Warriors. I think KD is going to come out like a man on a mission. Just to spruce things up a little bit more, I added in a Wilder win for this weekend’s boxing match up.

1 day into the new basketball season and so far I’ve predicted every game correctly and won my multi bet.
Great start! That first game was an easy win, but in the second one, I thought the Warriors had it. However, the Suns made a strong comeback in the 4th quarter. This team is on a real mission this season. When Booker is on fire, he's nearly unstoppable. Durant was a little chill in this game though who only score 18 points but was big in rebound with 11.

Will I be able to keep the parlay streak alive for a second game? Probably not, but I’m here to try. With 12 NBA games scheduled for today, it will be a little more difficult, but for now I’m happy to be at 100% accuracy with my picks.

Are you planning to put together a 12-leg parlay?
639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shame on haters for claiming that crypto is widely used in terrorist financing! on: October 25, 2023, 01:21:36 PM
Terrorists are almost certainly not using crypto for their day-to-day terror activities. It's too inconvenient when most people don't have an internet device (you think they're allowed to carry mobile phones with them? They can be tracked by intelligence agencies.) It is likely only the financing of terrorism part that may possibly be done in cryptocurrency payments to a power broker.

That's correct, but some people do think that way, believing that Bitcoin is used to finance terrorism, which isn't entirely true. Such beliefs harm Bitcoin's reputation, even though physical cash is more frequently used in such activities, given its difficulty to trace. Regardless of the mud-slinging, Bitcoin continues to exist and grow in adoption because these accusations are baseless. The 1% figure is relatively small compared to the total money funneled into terrorist activities.

I've read some articles in the past that suggest governments make a lot of money during times of war. So, I believe those who create fiat currency are potentially more corrupt than what they accuse Bitcoin of. Let's not forget that they can keep printing money endlessly, which, on its own, is already an issue.

Stuff like these get posted on social media all the time. I understand the OP's concern, being from a developing country the youth need to focus their energy and money on things that can help develop the country rather than wasting it on unnecessary spending. Since the youth get indirectly influenced by such posts, hence the need to make them aware.

I would suggest the OP to do as much as they can in making the younger generation know the good and bad things about gambling and what effect it can have if done without experience. Celebs make money by making a fool of their followers but there is very little you can do to stop this, its human nature to follow celebs like this.

Think of it as finding inspiration in gambling – it might seem like an impossible mission to win, but it can be done. Just imagine this: you're in a developing country where the cost of living isn't that high. What if you could actually succeed in gambling? That would lead to a life with financial freedom.

It's about looking at what this celebrity shared from a different perspective. It's his money and his freedom, and we shouldn't rush to judge or view it with a negative vibe. Instead, let's think outside the box and explore the possibilities.
