1101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel selling your BTC against your plans? on: March 09, 2023, 08:17:30 PM
Well, I've been in the same position as that. However, I thought that there was no other way and I had to sell my assets due to circumstances. it might happen in 2020. but i really want to hold it.
This condition actually teaches us that saving emergency money is also very necessary. for example, we put 30% of our salary or the income we have for investment, while another 30% for emergency funds, and the rest for savings and living necessities. although it is an easy strategy to understand, very many people find it difficult to do, especially people who are saving money, or investing. other than that, it would be very good if we are committed to investing until our goals are achieved, and look for other alternatives to cover our urgent needs.
I believe it’s the most appropriate thing to do if we could save some for emergency funds, and some for our investment. As there will be unforeseen events that might suddenly arise, at least we don’t have to compromise our investment funds because we have already secured our emergency funds prior to that. However, if the emergency funds are still not enough, then we can consider selling a little portion of our investment so that we can cover the whole funds needed urgently. At least, we don’t have to sell everything we have in our portfolio.
1102  Economy / Economics / Re: Would You Consider Adding Bitcoin to Your Retirement Savings on: March 09, 2023, 07:26:49 PM
Bitcoin’s future remains uncertain for now so it’s actually not bad to reserve some bitcoin for retirement so that if ever the price surges high, at least we can also benefit from it and will make our retirement days valuable. But let’s not also forget to secure fiat before bitcoin because it’s an obvious fact that fiat will still be highly needed in the future especially if we have some maintenance check ups and medicines that will help us live a longer life.

The thing is... that nothing is certain. Not even fiat. And I don't mean the current day's inflation, which is still not huge (but far from small either).
But look at Venezuela and their fiat. Do you really think that something like that (2018-2021) cannot happen to "better" fiat, like EUR or USD? Not now, but maybe in 20 years? Never say never.
That's why keeping some eggs in more baskets is the best... if one can afford that.
Yes, I guess both fiat and bitcoin are still uncertain of what will be their value in the future, so if we can have them both as our retirement, then definitely our retirement funds will be more secured and stable by then. However, I would not invest more than 50% in bitcoin I think, I prefer 70% in fiat then 30% in bitcoin, but it could be changeable in the future if ever bitcoin becomes more relevant than fiat.
1103  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it legal for our kids to learn trade? on: March 08, 2023, 09:38:07 PM
I want to know if it right for children that are of 10-15years go in to trade or not because I have a kid friend of about 14years and very eager to learn trading but am scared of the lost and how long it will take him to understand what his doing, because it hasn't been very easy for me. So what your opinion please I need help? because I think is too risky for them to go in to trade for now.
It's not an issue, and it's a good learning point at that age on how he can save his money and spend it wisely. If ever he has some savings and he'd rather use it on trading then, what is wrong with that? It's better than just buying the premium on some console games, and who knows if he could increase his money by trading.
I say, just guide him. You should not stop a kid that is already willing to do it, maybe he is just different from others and just needed some guidance to learn more. I'd prefer that way, than gambling or spending in Robux which most kids play now. There are no returns from those platforms.
Right. Do not discourage him from learning into trading just because it’s risky for his age, but instead guide him and let him see the real world of trading. Maybe he’s just mature enough to think that trading will give him foldable amount of returns than to waste his money on buying gadgets like most kids do these days. But make sure that he will first acquire knowledge and skills before trying to put his savings on trading. I think with your help, that kid will have a bright future someday.
1104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I managed to convince my senior dad to invest in BTC on: March 07, 2023, 09:59:21 PM
Good for you if you have convinced your senior dad, but make sure that he knows the risk of bitcoin investment so that he won’t blame you if ever that investment fails in the future. However, I have not managed to convince anyone to invest in bitcoin because I am not really doing it. I prefer to keep it only in myself because I know that people would always have to say negative about bitcoin, the reason why I never share my bitcoin experience to them. But if ever they’ll come to me and ask about bitcoin, I am very willing to share about my thoughts on it but never will I convince them to invest in it. If they want to invest later on, maybe that should be their own decision and not from me.
1105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Shiba Inu still worth it? on: March 05, 2023, 12:13:15 PM
It still has a market, as its trading volume is still decent, so I think it could pump again anytime as long as the bull run comes. I would suggest holding onto it, as long as it's still listed on many exchanges and maintains a good trading volume. One day, it will likely pump again.

You know, once the market is in bull run mode, everything is possible as the hype is very high, so pumping is possible, especially for a known project like Shiba Inu. However, I wouldn't recommend investing more. Just hold onto what you currently have.

Doge is still here, so is Shiba.
1106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Figueroa vs Magsayo WBC Interim Featherweight Title (March 4) on: March 05, 2023, 11:30:21 AM
I don't think he can get either a rematch with Vargas or Figueroa, it will all be the same results.

He needs to go back down again and try to rejuvenate his career, at least fight someone decent or cherry pick so that he will have this confidence back.
Actually Magsayo get defeated with the same way, where he was use a lot stamina in the early rounds and slowly get beaten in the late rounds. He still not able to find a way to beat a boxer with reach advantage, Magsayo shouldn't only looking to win via knock out since top boxers will have a tough chin.

It's really bad to see Magsayo have lost his last 2 fights, it will not easy for him to comeback since he might depressed with this result.

Some people do not agree with the scorecards, as it seems like the gap is very big. Too bad for Magsayo, as he got deducted twice for score violations, but overall, his performance was not convincing, and Figueroa deserves to win. Magsayo needs to train more and probably change his boxing style, as his career is slowly going down.

Nope its decent win for Figueroa there's no question regarding on his victory since we see how Magsayo ran out of gas and the minus points for Magsayo is very crucial which totally affect his points so I guess that's a bad fight for him. He better do more better because this is big lose for his career many thought he is the one who fight with Vargas but this will never happen as Figueroa won the match.

There's no question that Figueroa won this match; it was a clear domination by him, as Magsayo just couldn't be accurate with his punches, and he ran out of gas, so this fight wasn't really for him. Let's give credit to the winner, although Figueroa really broke some hearts here, LOL.

Congratulations to the backers of Figueroa. What was the betting odds of Figueroa winning via decision?
1107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: March 05, 2023, 09:48:35 AM

On first game, I think the Bolts will get this one so I'd rather bet on spread or total rather than the winner. On the 2nd game, I think the odds of Ginebra winning is still attractive at least for me. I will bet on them this time.

It always looks good on paper, but you'll never know what will happen. Just like what happened with DYIP vs Magnolia, we thought that Magnolia would easily dominate DYIP, but it turned out to be a tight game. Magnolia almost lost, but they were lucky to bring the game to OT, and they had to play hard to win.

Well, you are right, because it turns out this game is tight. Phoenix actually won the first half, so let's see if they will be able to bounce back. By the way, the scoring of Meralco might be affected, as Allen Maliksi is out in this game. I haven't heard the reason, but most likely, it's a coaching staff decision or suspension by the management.
1108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 05, 2023, 08:40:53 AM

As for Ja Morant, wrong set of friends, yeah he could be under pressure of the limelight but this is not the way to do it buddy.

You are destroying yourself, flashing guns. He really need help, specially from his families.
That's not good for him, as he has lots of major sponsorships that gave him a lot of money. If he can't change his life, then I think his career with the NBA will be short. As a superstar, he has a big responsibility, which is to be a role model, and his actions have shown that he is not living up to that responsibility.
1109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: March 04, 2023, 02:20:43 PM
i also believe that this fight will test his endurance if he can still fight younger boxers to aim for those coveted belts. if he can snatch such belts, that's a great reward before he hang his gloves. at least retire from you sports as a winner.

I want to it see that too if Donaire can still take a win against boxers here in the Bantamweight division regardless if they are young or not now that the most dominant Bantamweight boxer is now out of that division, Naoya Inoue.

If Donaire can't stand against other Bantamweight boxers then that's it and he should call it "a career".

But even after beating Santiago, I want to see him clashing with Jason Moloney. Hopefully, the next in line for him.
Hmmm, if he can't withstand with this fight or I don't know maybe he could  change his division but I really doubt that he will be lose in this fight against Santiago . I really believe to Donaire but the thing is I think his team should learn to enhance his skill such as agility, because as he get older and when his opponents are younger than him he should go along with their speed and strength of course.
There's no need for Donaire to change his style. Donaire is Donaire, and he has special skills that make him successful. Aiming for a KO fits well as a strategy for him, as if he leaves the fight to the judges' scorecards, he might get tired and lose. He has power, which is why he is a KO artist, and if he cannot use that in this fight, then I don't expect him to win, as many of Donaire's fights that have not resulted in a KO have not been in his favor.
1110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Figueroa vs Magsayo WBC Interim Featherweight Title (March 4) on: March 04, 2023, 01:51:25 PM

On the other side, Magsayo has been winning and fighting year to year. Absolutely no stopping him! Aside from his one recent loss, his track record is way better. Obviously he is going to win this fight with certainty.

He lost though so he is stop on his track, so both are coming from a lost, and so the winner will obviously bounce back with a big win here.

I would be happy if Magsayo wins this match. He is listed as the underdog, so for us bettors, this is a great opportunity to bet and make a decent return if Magsayo does indeed win. However, I would not say 'certainly' because Magsayo has not been that impressive in his previous fights, even in fights that he has won. Therefore, I want to see a major improvement, a matured Magsayo that knows how to time his opponent to win.
1111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 04, 2023, 07:44:05 AM
Knicks.....straight.....stunting on the nba.....talk about it.

Bulls…straight…..not stunting on the nba…let’s not talk about it lol

Nah I’ll bitch a little. At this point with them playing like such shit all season, and obviously clearly not having any legitimate shot at making any sort of run in the playoffs, it’s time to maybe trade some pieces and start losing. Would be amazing to someone pull another situation like we did with Derrick Rose and luck out in getting the number 1 pick again (would be something with the Bears and Bulls getting it).

Their shooting is okay, but their defense is very bad. With consistent losses, their chances are slowly diminishing. It's not really good for the Bulls. If they miss the playoffs this season, then they might as well start rebuilding the team and trade their superstars to their desired teams
The Bulls are in 9th or 10th place in the east currently. They have 3 wins in their last 10 games. Most likely they are missing the playoffs with how they have been playing the last 2-3 weeks. I don't know about trading all their stars, but they do need to find some help in the defense area. Division rivals are killing them 7 wins to Bulls 6. Road games are killing them. They need a spark.
They are not a bad team; however, I believe they are inconsistent, and that has been their problem even early in the season. There were rumors before that Lavine did not want to play with the team anymore and wanted out, but the rumors subsided when the Bulls started winning. Now they are back to struggling.

In terms of their lineup, they have a good one, as they have their own version of the big 3. However, the problem with this team is probably the chemistry level, which has not fully developed yet.
1112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the easiest way to explain bitcoin to a regular person? on: March 03, 2023, 09:54:16 PM
The way I explain bitcoin to a person would totally depend on his/her personal background.

e.g. Personally, I'm around gamers a lot of times, so I explain it in a way that they can buy/sell their in-game assets without the need of risking their PayPal accounts getting banned and getting their transactions reversed because of bitcoin's trustless nature and transaction finality.
Well, that could be easier for them to learn as you are teaching them based on their line of interest. However for me, i would still teach them the basics first by giving them insights on what is bitcoin and its purpose and function. Then they can make additional research about it if they want to increase more their knowledge in bitcoin. But if they would ask me on how to be profitable with bitcoin, i'll just advise them to to know and understand what they are doing. Maybe that would create a hint for them.
1113  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Never Trade on Emotions on: March 03, 2023, 09:35:51 PM
This comes with practice because getting emotional is human nature while not getting emotional is the feature of a seasoned trader. Often newbie traders who did not take part in dummy trading take decisions based on emotions which tend to be wrong most of the time but there is nobody to correct them right away.

A background of trading in other speculative assets and dummy trading might help new crypto traders understand how the market works and when to trade.

Buying low and selling high has been an age old method to profit. This should never be underestimated and misunderstood.
People trade because of what their emotions tell them, and that is to make profits and stay profitable. But in order to make this possible, trading without emotions is highly needed. Although it's hard since in all that we do we are driven with our emotions, but trading is different so it needs a different mindset too. However, with accumulated experiences trading in the market, you will realize that trading with emotions brings threat to your success so if you can trade without being affected by your emotions, that would be a lot better so you can be successful in your trading activity.
1114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Robbery that attacks Bitcoin Holders on: March 03, 2023, 09:03:27 PM
This is not just about bitcoin though, letting the world know you have "money" puts you in danger. Specially if you are carrying it around with you.

You mentioned he was a tourist, if you check the stats of robberies where they take the tourists money in different countries you'll realize this is not a new thing. There are even some cities in Europe (eg. Barcelona, Spain) where the average is a dozen robberies per hour (that's 2018 stats, it is much higher in 2023 due to worse economy situation). As you see these stats are not bitcoin related.
Right. The moment you disclose your privacy and let the world know that you have huge assets on your own, then you are giving permission to those people who have been planning to harm you. So you should not be surprise if later on, you're now in danger. Most specially for crypto that is stored in your smart phone, a lot of people would be eyeing to get it and own them. And in the case where you are in the place where robberies are rampant, then consider yourself as a future victim since you allow them to do this to you.
1115  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is to grow your money on: March 03, 2023, 08:34:57 PM
My follow beginner, hope your reason in investing in Bitcoin is not thinking to live large , buy good cars and to acquire mansions. If you ask most beginners what is their reason they choose to invest bitcoin all what you will understand from their reason is just want to make in different versions. Beginners should learn to know bitcoin is not a reason or a way to become rich .

The reason in investing bitcoin should be just to level up financially, grow your money and get a better return of it. Beginners should not mistake bitcoin as to grow money and for making money(becoming rich). The principle of bitcoin is real , if you understand the principles it always turns out being profitable.
Bitcoin is certainly not a get-rich-quick scheme. Its more of a long-term investment that when you succeed from it, that means you can gain good returns and grow your capital, as well as grow your possible profits. But for most of the beginners, their mindset is mostly set in greed that's why they invest bitcoin because of their high desire to get rich instantly. The reason why they lost their focus in bitcoin investing because they are more motivated on the fulfillment of their greed.
1116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in Bitcoin by selling wife's jewelry on: March 02, 2023, 09:58:25 PM

We know gold is very precious metal, but Bitcoin is much more expensive than gold. Bitcoin will cross $100k after halving in 2024 ie if I invest $3000 in Bitcoin now then there is a chance of getting 10x after 2024. If I get $30000 from investing $3000, nothing can be as valuable as Bitcoin. I explained this formula to my wife at night and she was not willing to give me her jewelery at first but today she told me by herself that you can sell my jewelery and invest in Bitcoin. At present I am forced to sell my wife's jewelery as I have no fiat money.
I seek advice from expert investors/holders/users of this forum,,,,
whether selling my wife's jewelery and investing on bitcoins makes sense?
Is it reasonable to invest in gold rather than bitcoin?
I would not say it’s unreasonable but it’s one way to secure your investment since gold is proven to be a reliable investment in time. But I believe bitcoin is a reasonable investment too, it’s just that the risk is high so if we can’t handle the pressures investing in bitcoin, then it’s better not to do it from the start. However, if you are deeply convinced that bitcoin is better than gold, then invest it by not disposing your gold investment. You can earn more if you keep both investments in the long term.
1117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is Neither Good or Bad on: March 02, 2023, 09:22:38 PM
I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of "gambling is neither good nor bad".  That is really the way people should look at it.  It's kind of like doing certain drugs, they may not be bad for you if you do them in moderation and don't let them take over and consume your life.  Sure there can be some negative effects, but there's also plenty of positive effects (for certain drugs)..so it's really all about ones mentality of mental strength.
Gambling will never be bad as long as you do it not crossing your limits in gambling. It will only be bad if you make it as your only way to earn a living, that is too absurd to think of. And its always bad actually if you do gambling most of your time, and yet you still end up losing all your funds and become unproductive the whole time.
1118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do people go into gambling? on: March 02, 2023, 06:49:06 PM
Why do people go into gambling?
I asked this question here because I can't get the answer.
However, in my observation, I found out that most people go into gambling because they think that's the easiest way to make big money.
Please is it true?
You just answer your own question to be honest. That might be one of the factors but I think there's a lot of it and it differs from individuals because others might say it's about the money, the others will say it's about the joy they get while gambling, there's no definite answer to it. One more thing, it's not the easiest way to make money, it's likely the opposite and it's to lose money.
It could be the easiest way to be an instant millionaire if you are lucky enough to gamble and ends in fortune. But let’s face the reality, this is very rare to happen as most of the gamblers gamble only to lose their money and leave gambling casinos with an empty pocket. Although others would say that they only gamble for entertainment, but actually I find it more odd as I’ve known a lot of gamblers spending money since they also want to chase some profits more than entertainment alone.
1119  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and education on: March 02, 2023, 06:28:32 PM
If you say that money is power and education turns into a waste of time, ask yourself whether the hope of getting money is for a completely uneducated person. How? Who has more opportunities to get a rare, well-paid job? Will uneducated people be able to manage something without knowing all the technologies?
I think the answer is obvious. Yes, many in your country are not born with a golden spoon in their mouth; however, I am sure that you know many successful people who were able to achieve everything on their own. In that case, which would you choose, and why could they?  Can all students, at the same time, seriously take up their education and not stop it in any case? There is no other way. The choice is always yours: to be poor or to succeed through blood and pain, no matter what.
I would say that money is really powerful these days but here in my country, those who are considered rich and are living in comfort and luxury are mostly highly educated people and have higher positions in the government and have bigger businesses in the country. So having a good education with also developed skills and strategies in life have still an edge over those uneducated people. Although I would not say all since some are born without even attending schools, but it’s rare to see people here living life comfortably just because of pure skills and life strategies and experiences.
1120  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Set your mind on your goals and nothing else on: March 01, 2023, 09:32:51 PM
Trading in general — regardless if cryptocurrency trading or not, is such a difficult path to take that you really can't blame people for being skeptical/cautious. Long-term success rates are staggeringly bad that you're better off doing something else instead.

Assuming you're telling a true story of you doing well, don't get too cocky — because not because you did well in the past, doesn't automatically you're going to do well in the long-term.
Trading has always its uncertainties. Even good traders cannot secure profits all the time, as they may eventually lose in some days especially if they trade when the market is not stable. So just be happy because you have made huge profits from trading, but do not expect that you will experience being profitable all the time. And never think that you knew everything about trading, as even professional traders even fail in times when they least expect it.
