1241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: January 08, 2023, 12:51:48 AM
PBC is just new to boxing and is less than 10 years of operations but it already destroyed and prevented a lot of big fights. PBC prevented us from seeing the huge AJ vs Wilder clash when they were both undefeated and the winner could've been the first-ever undisputed heavyweight in this 4-belt era. PBC also didn't respond nor sent counter-offers to Bob Arum of Top Rank in order to stage Crawford vs Spence for the welterweight undisputed belts. There are too many potential fights I can mention but these 2 are the biggest and could've been historic fights if PBC is cooperative and not scared and selfish.

As you mentioned, primarily focused on the business side instead of anything related to legacy. Agree with you.

However, who's the one/s that needs to be blamed strongly for big fights unable to materialize?

It's a sad reality but the boxer themselves is just cooperating with these networks and promoters, because for the obvious reason that they receive benefits and advantages that aren't present if they decided not to be under by any firms.

They have no choice because, without their network and promoters, they will not be popular and won't be able to make a good amount of money. We know that promoters are into making money, if they can maximize their profit they will do that but hopefully, they will not sacrifice the quality of boxing sports.

These days, it's more about hype and advertisement, while the champs are trying to keep their status as long as possible in order to retain their value, and if their value will drop, promoters will also not make money, besides, they are the ones who invested big for these boxers.
1242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 08, 2023, 12:22:46 AM
Here's my pick, I have put a bet on them earlier,

Spurs vs Celtics - as others said, the odds are somewhat weird, so I'm going on Spurs +12.5 on this game. Celtics is the best team in the East, and they could win this game but not cover the initial spread.
There's a chance but it doesn't look good right now, at the half time the Celtics are already leading 11 points. Spurs needs to come back in the 2nd half to be able to at least cover the spread.

+15.5 Spurs is currently the spread in live betting.

Bulls vs Jazz - I like the Bulls in their homecourt, they are a slight underdog. I'm expecting either Lavine or DeRozan to shoulder the scoring load, last time it was Lavine who got 40+ points, DeRozan is playing good at home court so this is going to be fun.

Single bets, but for insurance, I parlay this two, for a more juicy odds at 3.86.  Grin
I'm not sure what happened but Bulls opened at -1.5 favorite but now a slight underdog of +2.5.
1243  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't feel comfortable with crypto exchange on: January 07, 2023, 09:49:23 PM
Everybody needs to fear crypto exchange without waiting for people to preach exchange is not good for storing bitcoin.   Remitano exchange is where I do buy bitcoin and sell bitcoin.  Sometimes it is very difficult to have access with this wallet to sell or buy bitcoin,  at times it takes 24hrs before one can logging this exchange. Just imagine exchange like this have some network issues like this and never gets back to normal again. This should be enough reason why people shouldn't store  bitcoin on exchange wallet.
Well, most of the issues have been resolved though, but if you want to get rid of those, stay off from centralized exchanges and have your own hardware wallet, that way you will have less worries as you are in full control of your own bank. Remember that even old and reputable exchanges are never free from issues, so you can never expect for CEX to be mostly good for bitcoin storage.
1244  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: January 07, 2023, 01:23:31 PM
Speaking of Ennis though, he will be in the undercard of the Tank Davis vs Hector Garcia, so perhaps for some, it will be their first time to see him and tell if he has what it takes to challenge Spence because we have been hearing that he is a risk to Spence at this point and that's why he doesn't want to fight him. So very interesting to see.

I believed though that it will be Kieth Thurman that Spence will chose in his next fight. He is just simply putting hype on it.
Jaron Ennis is, without a doubt, good. We cannot, however, assert that he can defeat Errol Spence. Ennis is good, but his opponents are not even close to the names Spence fought. Anyhow, Ennis ought to compete with Errol Spence, who is the IBF champion. While he waits for Spence to accept his challenge, I believe the subsequent opponent of Ennis, is more like an easy match up to keep him active.

I have the same choice. Spence will select Keith Thurman because, aside from Terrence Crawford, he has the most money under his name.

Yeah, it might be better for Spence to fight Thurman next, and I don't believed that he doesn't want to fight him or afraid of Keith. I was highlights of Spence rising up in ranks, when he beat Kell Brook, post interview saw him calling Spence this was 2017 though. Maybe a lot has change since then, Thurman was beaten by Pacquiao and no longer the same Thurman. But still though, this is the best fight for him right now as welterweight, he needs to add Thurman in his resume to clean up this division, Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter, and Ugas in his last 3, great champions.
The only thing that change Thurman is his undefeated record to none, so I think he is still the same Thurman because despite his loss to Pacman, but it was a close fight, he could have won that fight too if the refs gave him more points or if he was not knocked down by Pacman in one round.

This fight is going to be exciting, Thurman vs Spence is like both fighters are champion.
1245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deontay Wilder versus Andy Ruiz Title Eliminator on: January 07, 2023, 12:50:06 PM
I still believe that Wilder is the most dangerous puncher in our generation 42 wins 41 knockouts and you just have to watch what he did to Helenius to agree, he is good to land one punch and it's over, all Wilder has to do is to find that sweet spot to land the right hand and its over, no way Ruiz can slug it out without getting hit by that powerful right hand so I'll go for Wilder here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHsq1MEmpLM

His last fight showed how he usually wins the fight, he still has that power, so Ruiz has to be very careful. I know Ruiz had some power too but compared to Wilder, we can see a big difference. I think we should see Wilder and Joshua fight, that's a better fight compared to this one IMO.
1246  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 07, 2023, 11:43:58 AM
Let's see how the Lakers will perform in the game against the Kings.

I would not trust them against the Kings, unfortunately I may not be able to bet on the Kings despite my trust in them because the spread is very high. The spread now is -8.5, although Kings has no doubt would win here, I'm concerned if they can cover the spread.
1247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people store their cryptocurrency on exchanges? on: January 06, 2023, 09:45:58 PM
I am in the process of purchasing a Ledger Nano offline wallet and it got me thinking about why people store their digital assets on crypto exchanges.

These exchanges are susceptible to hacking, insolvency/bankruptcy, misuse of customer funds (FTX) etc.

What would happen if Binance got hacked tomorrow and lost the majority of its cryptocurrency? Would they be able to reimburse customers or would they become insolvent?

I asked my close group of friends how many store their assets on exchanges and only 1 out of 6 uses an offline wallet.

The recent incident with Luke Dashjr confirms that you are always at risk of being hacked no matter how vigilant you are.

Will give my thoughts on the Ledger Nano once I receive it.

Maybe because their lack of knowledge and ignorance makes them trust the centralized exchanges more than their own wallet. Or they think that as long as centralized exchanges are not hacked, they will continue to remain reliable and reputable which I think only ignorant people believed on that. Or they are just illiterate that they are force to trust centralized exchanges because they don’t have choice too.
1248  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Running a casino during crypto crash on: January 06, 2023, 08:57:30 PM
but I don't know how the casinos can also make good money in times of inflation than doing the same pattern.

Just continuing their usual operation obviously. Enhancing and improving the marketing side in order attract more users.

Whatever the trend, be it worst or very worst, there are still people that will gamble no matter what.

This is now the task of casinos, to continue attracting these people that still gamble regardless of the economic situation and market trend. If the said casinos are able to gather more loyal users to their sites, they will surely withstand any economic condition even amid a crypto crash as their operations just continue smoothly.
Casinos might be staying for good, as there will always be gamblers that will chose to spend their money in casinos regardless of the worsening world’s economy. And with those gambling casinos, they will compete to stay competitive no matter what so that their operations will sure to continue even if others cannot survive with and eventually closed.
1249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: January 05, 2023, 09:59:37 PM
I do not know about you guys, but I gamble because I like it and because it is a hobby as well as an addiction. I'm good with myself, as I already admitted to having an addiction but tried to find and apply techniques to avoid getting off track and spending all of my money on gambling. It's quite easy for me to control my gambling anxiety as I already follow strict rules that help me stay on the line.

What about you guys? Do you have any addiction to gambling? What drives you to gamble? Is it the long shot of having a big profit coming in or is gambling simply a way of spending time for you?
I was once a gambling addict before but now I’ve come to control myself and only gamble when there is extra money to gamble. Although I would be sarcastic if I won’t admit that I’m still gambling for money, but to gamble with limits is more profitable than gambling until you meet your own satisfaction. Now I’m gambling more for fun, but definitely it would be more fun and profitable if I’m also winning most of my bets.
1250  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anyone out there doing money by trading? How? on: January 05, 2023, 09:38:31 PM
The more I learn I am kind of coming to conclusion that trading in the long run is not profitable. I mean I don't know any single person who is doing decent amount of money for living by trading in crypto. Hence the question: do you know anyone who is successful trading in crypto? or are you doing well by trading crypto?
If you are looking for successful traders who will claim that they have been into huge returns, I guess you will fail on that. Trading involves money, so that means traders will never risk theirselves to put their lives into danger by claiming that they have been doing great in trading, as they can be a target of scammers anytime. But yes, they really exist, but they are more silent when doing trading and stay low profile to hide their wealth.
1251  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: As a newbie I stay off shitcoin and it paid off, Bitcoin is the king. on: January 05, 2023, 08:59:48 PM
Volatility is one of the major constraints of cryptocurrency investment and this goes for all coins even bitcoin, investments require long-term patience and continuity which is not something to easily go with as the market can easily drain out the motivation in the investors to wait for that long.

Investing in bitcoin is safer even in a bear market, although it also involves losses. But it is desirable to invest in altcoin only in a bull market, since when investing in a bearish trend, value losses can reach 99%, and in some cases, a complete loss of value.
The reason why it’s much better to focus on bitcoin in the first place because even though the progress is slow, but you can assure yourself that you are going to be highly profitable as soon as the market is positive and bullish trend will start taking place in the market. Unlike altcoins, or those shitcoins, they are just profitable at first but eventually drops their value when the market suddenly crash or dump.
1252  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin birthday reminder: You could have been a millionaire using this tool on: January 05, 2023, 07:36:50 PM
In 2010, I was too young to engage in earning money or to understand how financial operations work. But among those who managed to learn about Bitcoin so early and tried the faucets, I'm sure the majority would lose what they got or sell whenever it costs anything significant (say, at $50 per coin). So it's all very hypothetical. Overall, I agree with Rikafip that it doesn't matter. I think we should focus on reality and on how to behave going forward.
Gone are the days where earning from faucets are profitable. Or if they have earned a decade ago, they might have at least lose today because bitcoin’s value has seen more dropping than seeing it surging high and reach an all time high, that will cause them panic and would end up deciding to sell their coins. However, if you want to be a millionaire, then you should focus on maximizing your bitcoin accumulation and only sell them when bitcoin price is already on its top of its ATH.
1253  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Factors that contribute to form addictive gambling. on: January 04, 2023, 09:59:39 PM
Free alcoholic drinks, ease of withdrawal machines and ease of which to fund betting/gambling site wallets are serious contributory factors to addictive gambling.

A man was invited to the court for failure to meet up with his bills. He complained bitterly to the judge he was standing before, on how he was given free drinks at a live casino and it made him so loose to the point that he lost and emptied his wallet to place more bet of which he lost more. He made several withdrawals from his bank account, most of which he had saved up for something as important as paying the bill for which he was summoned and more.
He attributed his huge loss to the ease of which he could easily withdraw cash because of the presence and ease of accessibility of ATM and POS machines and the free alcoholic drinks served which made him drunk and so excited to the point he emptied all his savings on gambling.
In comparison to live casinos, online casinos do not offer free drinks, but if one were to bet from the comfort of his/her zone, and had a fridge or cooler of chilled alcoholic drinks, it shouldn't be a yardstick to get drunk to the point of funding ones betting wallet all just to gamble at that instance of excitement. Also, if one can't get to control the amount of his/her alcoholic intake I don't think such a one can control the excitement that comes from gambling and shouldn't bet, make withdrawals or fund gambling wallets, while drunk.

What other factors do you know contribute to form addictive gambling?
Addictive gambling is a choice. So if you let yourself fall for it, then you will really get to spend more eventually and see yourself losing everything you have inside your pocket. And while free alcohol drinks and sexy ladies are not new already in casinos, then you should also see as something that is part of casinos way of attracting new and old players. If you know your reason why you gamble, then you will never fall from all of these.
1254  Economy / Economics / Re: Every passing year seems progressively worse on: January 04, 2023, 09:30:13 PM
Perhaps my sitting all alone in my bed on New Year's Eve isn't helping.
Actually I think that is the main point... Problems, crisis, climate changes and conflicts have always been present in a global level every years, but we tend to over-absorb all these negative news when we are in a bad mood and discontented with our own lives, especially during Christmas and New Year, when it should be the happiest moment of the year, to be shared with people we love reciprocally.

Anyway, happy new year to everyone and good luck on your bitcoin endeavors!
Happy New Year to you as well! That 2023 may be different in a personal level, because the problems of the world aren't solvable!
What we have seen at the moment are those inevitable circumstances that are impossible to resolve at the moment, so it might be good for us to just live with them. Otherwise, we will end up putting more pressures on ourselves and living with life’s negativity which I think is not really helpful for us. Especially that we are now in a new year, so that means new beginnings and new perspectives in life.
1255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Types Newbies Should know About on: January 03, 2023, 09:39:04 PM
This terms can be self-taught easily actually the more you use and experience sports betting either for testing purpose  entertainment(betting small amount) or serious betting (bet to win)
But of course reading articles or watching/streaming videos on how to use them will probably give broader knowledge.
Demo videos can be a lot helpful if you are still a newbie in gambling, and with passion and interest, experience comes in. And with different outcomes, your experience alone will give you challenges and lessons that you will gain and learn later on. Although there are a lot of types of betting that you will encounter as a gambler, but for me sportsbetting gives me real challenge. And it would create more justice if you alone is a sports lover too.
1256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: (Boxing) Kazuto Ioka vs Joshua Boxing Match Begins 31 December 2022 on: January 01, 2023, 12:54:50 PM
I look at the compubox numbers and it seems that it is also close, Franco throws a lot of punch, but Ioka is more consistent.

Nevertheless, since this is Japan so expect some biases judge in favor of the hometown hero. I know it's kinda disappointed to see a fight end in a draw with no winner and both keeping the belts, but the judge score is final here and will not be reverse in my opinion. Good fight though to end the year and most likely there could be a rematch so settle once and for all the winner between this two warriors.

Fans are not happy, you can read in the comments on social media that they are disappointed with the result, Franco should have won the fight but they didn't give it to him. His mistake is that he was not able to knock him out, there should be no controversy if that happened.

As they say, it's a home court advantage, so as a visitor, he needs to be extremely good to win a match.
1257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 01, 2023, 11:32:48 AM
We don't know if they can make it to the eastern finals but with how they are performing right now, they've got better chemistry and the stars are really taking over to help to win each game.

With regard to coach Nash, he's now a close book for this season. After he left and after that issue
with Kyrie has been resolved or now being forgotten, Nets are performing to the best level that they
can, nothing to say, but 11 winning streaks is really a good sign for them, without major injuries
they can continue winning and might be possible to force their way to the playoffs. We never know how
far, will going to depend on how they will perform in the next round.

That winning streak might continue for a while as the next 2 games are just easy, especially the Spurs who are not in a good ranking now. I'm surprise with this team, I thought the real problem is Kyrie, but he proved me wrong, it was indeed the coach who was the problem, and now they are living based on our expectation.
1258  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: January 01, 2023, 11:15:12 AM
Not aware that no game for today because of busy activity lol.

Long rest for both teams and one thing is for sure, this long rest day will give them more time to become fully prepared next game.

I like to see these teams clashing in a close game. Expecting to see that next game.

Yup, no game for today and it will resume on Wednesday, lots of time for them to rest and recover so we can expect them to have an explosive game 3.

For those who are willing, you are invited to join our free prediction contest in game 3.

Check the link below for details.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5432455.msg61520952#msg61520952

Yup, there's plenty of time, we can wait for the betting odds in game 3, it should be a close one since the series is now tied. Bot teams are enjoying their vacation, but maybe they will start training tomorrow to prepare for game 3, we should not think that Bay Area will easily win, we will not see the same scenario in game 2.
1259  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC Ever Reach $100k? on: December 31, 2022, 02:53:21 PM
Quote from: mexite

Wil it be before or after the next Bitcoin halving or this price would never come?
It will come to pass but it will take a long time before the price will reach $100k because, if you flash back were the price started from you will know that before next 4 years or 5 years Bitcoin price will increase more than $100 because, their teams are very active to remain the king among other cryptocurrencies. Since the price has decreased to this point, i know it will surely increase to a level that will make investors to conclude that the $100k  will come to reality when it is time which the time is very close to the community.
based on the past where after the halving period, a year later there will be ATH, will it also happen in the future? seeing that experience, it is certain that it will be repeated again and it is true what you said, it will take quite a long time, when viewed from now. but if there is definitely hope that is indeed expected, $ 100K is certainly not something that is quite difficult to get, because this is a 2021 price prediction that has been made by almost many analysts but it did not happen.
Eventually, the price will reach that level as long as the pattern will happen. Bitcoin's ATH was $64k, so once we reach a new ATH, $100k is very likely to be achieved and it will go on if the bull run will stay longer. Actually, the price is very cheap now, it's below $20k, it's a good time to invest now and just wait for the next bull run.
1260  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia on: December 31, 2022, 02:08:36 PM
Most likely this will affect his reputation as a boxer, and even the upcoming fights that are in line with him. If not cancelled, since the audience are undeniably waiting for the match to happen, I guess Tank Davis will also face negative criticisms after the fight. But I don’t think his preparation for the match and his performance in the ring will also be affected as he will always be an outstanding boxer regardless of his current issues.
The case has been resolved and Gervonta Davis already free, but his reputation might ruined. It's better for him to quit social medias since he might get a lot criticism including when he's in outside and meet people who knew this case. Even he's professional and know to not taking it as a personal, but I believe it's still affect his mental even though just a tiny portion. He should fight with Garcia, otherwise his name might fall.

I couldn't remove the idea that there is a coordinated attack on Davis. Things are just too coincidental. Family trouble will always affect personal life and maybe he would blame himself for what happened.

After bailing an article came out from his accuser claiming he did not harm her nor his daughter. But both parties might just have an agreement, probably on money I guess which is usually the case. If there is a chance for Hector Vs Tank, it's not yet announced.

https://www.badlefthook.com/2022/12/30/23532948/woman-who-accused-gervonta-davis-domestic-violence-now-claims-he-did-not-harm-her-boxing-news-2022

Okay, so there's no problem anymore and the fight of Davis vs Garcia will happen next year. And yes mate, it could be just for the money, nowadays, most things will work in your favor if you have the money, that's the best way to silence people but some people will also try to trick you to get your money, just like in the case of Davis. Anyway, it's just his personal life, outside boxing but we should be happy with the development.
