1041  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Not about to give up hope. on: April 02, 2023, 10:38:48 AM
Lesson of the day, do not over invest on one altcoin, even if you can't find any traces of scam or untrusty team do not conclude that your money will be safe in an altcoin, the risk is too big than you could ever imagine. Diversify into more than two altcoins, this will automatically reduce your risk.

I would say, Just don't trust altcoins unless you are ready for the stress.
What did people take away from the events that happened? For those who did not lose a lot, there was a good lesson not to trust the storage of their assets on the exchanges; perhaps this was a sign from above. But those who have suffered huge losses probably need psychological help, and maybe many will not return to this sphere, and the rest will be very careful. When investing your money in anything other than Bitcoin, wherever it is stored, you need to be on your guard early, and it is not recommended for the faint of heart to take risks.
Just to avoid high risks at all cost, then only invest in bitcoin and stay away from altcoins. Diversification does not mean that you have to invest both in bitcoin and in altcoins, you will still lose if you follow that. But if you invest in bitcoin, and then invest also in gold, real estate or stocks, that means you will likely to generate more income aside from bitcoin. However, losing is still inevitable in all types of investments, that’s why never invest above your means or invest only an amount you can manage to lose.
1042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons why I might consider selling my Bitcoin. on: April 02, 2023, 10:04:30 AM
I believe we should only invest amounts of Bitcoin that we would not need to liquidate in other to finance a real life need, more like spare money, which makes up only a small percentage of your total savings.
If you do this, you would not need to sell for health emergencies or any other financial requirement.

That's the textbook advice, but it's likely that many holders risk a little bit more than they can afford to lose with Bitcoin as their trust in it grows and when faced with a financial need, one might need to sell off.

All the reasons you outlined are valid and would compel pretty much anyone to sell, but for me that would only be a percentage of my holdings, I plan to always hold some amount of Bitcoin for years to come and never fully "cash out".
Right. The rule of investing bitcoin on our spare money is only found in books, because in reality most of us here even take minimal loans just to start with bitcoin, and for me that’s still valid and reasonable as long as you also have your main income that will pay your loan. However, in times you run out of money and you only have bitcoin in your wallet, I think selling a portion of it is inevitable especially if it comes with health issues or loss of main source of income. That’s the reason why we are advised to invest only on our extra money, so that we can also save for emergency funds intended to spend on unforeseen emergencies.
1043  Economy / Economics / Re: How Long in Years Should I Wait Before I Close Down an Unprofitable Business on: April 01, 2023, 09:57:43 PM
How long in years should I go before I give up and close down a business that is unprofitable?

I was listening to a podcast where Kelvin O'Neal1 was featured. He said, "If you are not making money after 36months(3 years), you've gotta take a behind the barn and shoot it. It's just a hobby. It's not a business."

According to him, "people can get so stuck on a bad idea that they just keep thinking that if I keep working on it, it's going to fix itself. It doesn't fix itself. It was put on your journey to teach you, what not to do."

- To what extent do you agree or disagree with this assertion ?

-Have you had a business that even though it wasn't profitable in the first three (3) years, then it  kicked off to bring in good returns in the fourth (4th) year?

Certainly I have not experienced like that. But maybe if there is a change of strategy or management, that would be possible. Like in big shopping malls, at first it was gaining less profits due to poor management but when management has changed, it came out that it’s getting maximum profits every year. But maybe in a small business, I don’t think if it’s gonna work again if it has already fall from the start.
1044  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Early Profit can be misleading. on: April 01, 2023, 09:31:07 PM
Should newbie traders be only concerned about making profit? I do not think so.

I feel that every newbie trader should first be concerned about fully understanding trading regardless of if they make profit or not at the beginning of their trading life. A newbie trader who enjoys profits mostly during his early life as a trader may be misled to begin to think that he has cracked the code to trading and will continue making profits. Newbie traders who experience some kind of losses at the early stage of their life but still continue in trading know better how trading can be, and because of the early experience that they have had, they are at a position of becoming much better traders than those that enjoyed easy profit at the beginning which can be misleading. What do you think, let us discuss?
This will only be possible if beginner traders are not really exposed to what real life trading is all about. Trading is actually losing and profiting, but in case for newbies, they are expected to lose more than to gain profits. So if a newbie is making a consistent profits, he must be lucky enough but that would not mean that he’s bound to make profits all the time. Trading is never easy, the reason why even professional traders still lose from trading considering they have been trading for years, so how much more for newbies who have less knowledge and experience when it comes to trading.
1045  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you tell me which one you will choose and why? on: April 01, 2023, 09:16:30 PM
I trust hardware wallet more than my bank account and Binance exchange, but if you are ask to choose between banks and Binance exchange which one do you trust the most? I throw this question to crypto friends around me and they choose Binance exchange.

I wonder why though,  because I feel like banks should be more trusted, my bank for example, has been running for over 20 years and nothing bad happened except, for high charge fees, but my fiat is always in safe hands,  I don't know, maybe I missed something? So I plan to ask on here,  which one would you trust the most and why?
Well, with the banks we can't exchange our crypto holdings whilst with Binance we can use them and exchange our cryptos into fiat. That's my analogy on why I'll choose Binance over a bank if there's really no other choice to make. I do like some of the banks but the fact that they're just really for safe keeping, even if that's the main reason for putting your money there, trust no one. They're all centralized, they can freeze your money anytime as they wish and reason out that you've got a red flag on them.
Right, both are centralized that’s why we should’ve not trusted them from the start. But if there’s one that I think is quite safer, I believe it’s the bank. Though with small interest, I can still safely put my money in it without fearing that it will be gone or hack in the future. Unlike Binance, there is fear always that it might follow the path of FTX, eve if we know it’s a reputable and reliable exchange.
1046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What have you got rid of to accumulate Bitcoin on: April 01, 2023, 06:51:53 PM
As much as we might want to take part in the blessings of Bitcoin, we should take it gently and be sensible about it. You should not be so desperate to sell anything in your way simply because you want to buy Bitcoin. Landed property is an asset as well, I might only consider selling about 20% of it if I so much desire to invest more in the coin.

Thankfully, no need for that as I've been in the investment environment for many years before Bitcoin, so it has been calming me. And when I know about the coin, I just moved some money there without selling any property.

I've also been sending spare money regularly to own more of it, but under ease.
Right. Investing in bitcoin is never a competition, so you can always invest if you have saved already enough funds to invest, but if not, don’t be in a hurry, just take your time and only invest by then if you are able enough and is ready to take the risk. However, selling your property might be a very risky move. You don’t have to sell to invest. Investing has its certain risks. And if you’re not good and does not know how to manage your investment, selling your property will still be useless as you might only lose it in the end.
1047  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Skill Based Slot Machines on: March 31, 2023, 09:56:48 PM
I prefer to play traditional slots, where the outcome of the game depends on luck rather than skill. If I want to test my strength I play poker or any other gambling game in which I have the opportunity to influence the outcome of each individual move. In my opinion slots is not a game to think. Slots is more of a quick gamble just for fun.
For me, as long as slots is concerned, I often see it as a game of chance and luck, rather than skill. So whether it’s traditional or not, I believe skills never exist in it. But with what OP has stated, there might be really slot games that are skill based, and if they really exist in the casino, I don’t know and I’m not aware of that. But if there are any, then that’s the time I should start honing my skills as that will open another opportunity for me to be profitable in gambling.
1048  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Neymar Loses €1M in Casino in Just an Hour on: March 31, 2023, 09:39:15 PM
I don't like people who throw money away like that and laugh at it. Imagine that he's Brazilian and the minimum wage in his country is some $200 a month. Some people are earning that and watching him laugh after losing a million, money they will never have in their lives. These rich guys are so spoiled it's painful to watch. Completely no respect for money. They're wiping their asses with $ bills and laughing at the rest of us.

I'm not saying they don't have the right to do it, or shouldn't have the money they have, but I find the lack of respect and his attitude repulsive.
Well, his being insensitive to others might have offended most of the low earner viewers, and I actually seen the video, and his reaction towards his loss is really quite irritating. However, Neymar will always be Neymar, a rich and famous guy, and that’s why whatever amount of loss will be nothing to him. But I also think that maybe his reaction is being faked, the fact that he’s a casino endorser, he should always show to the public that he can still manage whatever loss he may incur from gambling.
1049  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fellow Beginners Should Know This on: March 31, 2023, 08:59:33 PM
Before the forum, I used to be a shy person. I'd rather keep shut than ask my question for the fear of sounding silly. But I took up courage and started to ask several questions about the forum and Bitcoin that I needed more clarification on. And I am glad I did because I have gotten a wide range of perspective.

Be patient while on the forum. Your rank wouldn't go from Newbie to Legendary overnight. This shouldn't be the goal because sooner than later disappointment that could lead to mild depression would kick in.Participate actively and participate sensibly. Avoid the technical discussion board if you have nothing useful to contribute. That's what I mean by participating sensibly.
Of course, you won’t stay longer in the forum if you tend to be impatient in the first place. As a newbie, you should prioritize first acquiring sufficient knowledge and enhance whatever you need to improve. And once you think you are able enough to participate in the discussion, then participate actively but always bear in mind that you will only reply on the thread that you have high knowledge to, otherwise you will be notice as a spammer or as  a low content poster and that your post will be removed immediately. And no matter how good or relevant you are in the forum, never forget to respect other members ideas as everyone here has its own unique set of knowledge and ideas.
1050  Economy / Economics / Re: Is some certain lifestyle a waste of money and time ? on: March 31, 2023, 08:31:10 PM
If that's what they can afford to spend, maybe they're not all dependent on their monthly salary and they've got something else as a source of their money.
Because if you do gatherings most often, that's certainly hitting their budget and incomes but if it doesn't look affecting much to them then that's nothing to worry about.
But such a lifestyle shouldn't be copied by you or by anyone here, we all know how tough life is these days and we need to be frugal with how we spend our hard-earned money. Yes, it's fine to celebrate occasionally but you don't have to be showy to your friends or relatives just to be said that you're elegant or sort of a rich person. Most rich people are even living frugally and only spend on things that truly matter to them and not on fancy dinners and celebrations.
I guess let’s say if they have other passive income, celebrating it 4x a week is still too much and will definitely leave them broke in the long run. Even rich people would never do that often, especially for those who own businesses as money is more important to invest rather than to be used in celebration. However, people have different views and preferences in life. If that’s the way they’ll enjoy life, then so be it. But take note OP that you are never obliged to adopt your friends habit and just live your life on what you think is suitable for you.
1051  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: March 30, 2023, 12:38:32 PM
And with that, if the Mayweather-McGregor fight was big that time, maybe this fight could be comparable at least in terms of PPV numbers. Even Oscar was hype about this and he said that it could break PPV records. But we all know that it's coming from him as he promotes Ryan Garcia.

I don't think the PPV revenue of the upcoming fight between these two boxers will come anywhere close to that of Mayweather vs McGregor. Mayweather was widely considered the best fighter of his era and had many detractors, which actually helped attract more fans.

However, neither of these two fighters have that level of popularity. There are other popular boxers in higher divisions that have more widespread appeal. While I believe they will sell a significant amount of PPV, we cannot compare it to the enormous revenue generated by Mayweather's mega-fights.
1052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 30, 2023, 12:17:59 PM
The Pacers are hanging tough against the Bucks, end of second half, they are just down 4, 69-73.

What's interesting is that Giannis has almost a triple double this early, with 20 points and 10 rebounds and 9 assists. The Bucks is the overwhelming favorite in this game obviously as there are no Haliburton and Myles in the line up for the Pacers. So let's see in the 2nd half of the game, the initial spread is like -9.5 for the Bucks to win and if the Pacers keeps in competitive, they might not cover it, just saying.

It was Jrue Holiday who bring it with the Bucks as he registered 51 big points in this game. Giannis has his triple double and it was very close till the first half and even at the start of the 3rd quarter.

But as I have said, Holiday and Giannis combine in the 4th and Brook Lopez again having a good game as well. The Pacers really missed it's top scorer in this game and it's just a matter of time before the Bucks find their rhythm and that's what happen to this game.

Jrue Holiday has found his groove playing with the Bucks and has improved every year. Additionally, he is not injury-prone, which means he can be a reliable asset for the team. In my opinion, he has surpassed Middleton as the team's second-best player. With his contributions and the team's overall performance, I believe the Bucks have a strong chance to succeed this season and could even defeat the Celtics if they meet again.
1053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Nghitumbwa (May 3) on: March 29, 2023, 01:44:38 AM

But it's okay if you think Nghitumbwa might able to beat Casimero, the odds is really high if you bet Nghitumbwa to win in this fight. This reminds me the fight between Rolando Romero vs Gervonta Davis, Romero was a KO artist but he got KO'ed by Davis.

It's really a good fight for Casimero because he won't be dealing with someone who is not willing to go clash in the middle of the ring against him. This guy might not be famous but I think, he will gonna go dance with Casimero in the middle of the ring without running and I think this fight might not go to the judges' decision because we all know that Casimero has been frustrated with his last fight and wanted to regain back his honor and popularity. He will finish this guy as soon as possible but at the same time, he should be more careful because he can also get knockout as well by Nghitumbwa.

Definitely, if he plans to engage in a dance with Casimero, he will need to ensure that he has a solid chin and body. Casimero is skilled in identifying the weaknesses of his opponents, so any flaws will likely be exploited. It's worth noting that he hasn't won an impressive victory in recent times, so perhaps this bout will end without any controversy and gradually elevate Casimero's standing in this division.

This is Casimero's first fight this year, so he will need to start strong if he hopes to secure an opportunity to fight against a top challenger or champion in this division.
1054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: March 29, 2023, 01:28:45 AM

Haney and Mayweather's way of fighting is almost the same that's why the fight between Haney and Kambosos Jr. (first fight) became one of the most boring fights I've ever watched to the point that I slept while watching the fight.

Definitely the same, but Floyd was way more boring than Haney. Even though they are both good fighters, it wouldn't be surprising if their opponents received more cheers than them, with the audience watching the fight hoping that the boring fighter gets knocked out. However, this is Loma we're talking about, and he is a technical fighter. He has already proven in the past that he can beat a boring fighter, as seen in his fight against Guillermo Rigondeaux.
1055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Nghitumbwa (May 3) on: March 28, 2023, 01:21:02 PM
But this does not mean that Nghitumbawa punches are weak too.  Making 11 of his 13 opponents kiss the canvas means the boxer has a deadly punching power.  So we should not underestimate the guy because his opponent is unknown.  Isn't Manny Pacquiao a not well-known boxer before he fights Ledwaba?
I understand, but it's really different because if you watch the replay of Nghitumbwa's fought, you will see his footwork is really weird and he almost slipped for few times due to bad footwork Tongue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mNVE3_dRKQ

The stats alone are not the right basis for predicting the winner of this fight. Honestly, it's my first time hearing the name Nghitumbwa, but Casimero has been popular even before he moved up. However, it's okay if some think that Nghitumbwa might beat Casimero, as that's their personal opinion. Besides, we never know the outcome of a future fight.

Although this may not be a tough challenge, Casimero is still considering it a big fight. If he loses against Nghitumbwa, there will be no reason for him to continue fighting as his dreams will be too far to achieve.
1056  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Nghitumbwa (May 3) on: March 26, 2023, 11:58:57 AM
Something is better than nothing, and it's still early, so if Casimero wins this fight, we can expect to see him fight again later this year. While Inoue is recovering from an injury, Casimero is challenging himself by staying active in the ring. This is a good sign that he will be successful in the new division. To reach his goals, he needs to be consistent in winning.

I'll search for some highlights of Nghitumbwa on YouTube since he is an unknown fighter to me.
1057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: March 26, 2023, 10:39:38 AM
Donaire's killer move is his counter hook punch where many boxer fell prey.  But the question would be, with the current age of Donaire, will he still have that fast reflex and reaction in order to deliver that deadly punches?

I understand your concern though although what I can say about that is, he still can deliver that deadly punches.

My only reference is, Donaire is not against a considered top-ranked boxer therefore, we are not expecting an Inoue-type of opponent here where Donaire's age is playing a big role. Age does matter and that's usual but against Santiago, I don't really consider age as a factor.

However, if Donaire will struggle against Santiago, no way Donaire can even match with other top-ranked boxers in the bantamweight.
In this fight with Santiago, let's set aside the age of Donaire, as I believe it won't be a hindrance for him to still deliver his accurate punch. Donaire has many experience already with many top boxers and I think it's one of his advantage because he can adjust to the level of his opponent. I agree that if he struggle in this fight with Santiago then it would be hard already to match with top boxers, not because we underestimate Santiago but it is a fact for Donaire's career.

Exactly. Based on paper, Donaire is the better fighter, so his age should not matter in this fight. As long as he can still fight, he should be listed as the heavy favorite against a mediocre fighter like Santiago. This fight should not be boring since Santiago would surely be aggressive, knowing he is the underdog. A KO win on his side would also give him the popularity he wants. Imagine beating a superstar in boxing.

We all know that Santiago is not a champion, while Donaire has already become a champion many times in different divisions. Therefore, experience-wise, Donaire has the advantage and in terms of power, he still has it. In my opinion, the quality of his opponent is not that good, so we can expect that the fans will favor Donaire, which is the reason why he is the heavy favorite here.

Clippers vs Pels - I'll go with the Clippers at home here, -4.5 @1.88

It's too bad that the Clippers lost again. They certainly miss the services of Paul George, and Leonard struggled with only 12 points due to a poor shooting night. I hope Paul George can return soon so that this team can be competitive in the playoffs. Right now, I don't trust the Clippers, so I'll choose to bet on other teams instead, especially the Warriors, who have been impressive at home
1059  Economy / Gambling / Re: How succesful will AI projects be to win the house? on: March 26, 2023, 08:37:59 AM
Do you think AI will be more successful to get a working gambling strategy to win the house... and if they do, what will be the impact on casinos?

Definitely, it will not work because when we are talking about the house, there's always an advantage in their favor, and we cannot beat them if we want to be a long-term gambler. AI cannot predict what will happen in the future; it can only provide us with information necessary for us to analyze our bets. This particularly works in sports betting, but only if AI can provide the latest information, which I think ChatGPT does not have the capability for now.

Here are the betting odds for tomorrow's games:

Meralco vs TNT: -5.5
SMB vs Ginebra: -2.5

There has been a significant change in the odds for the TNT vs Meralco game. Initially, TNT was favored by only -3.5 points, but due to their blowout win, the odds have moved slightly. I am now enticed to bet on TNT as I believe they will win by double digits.
