641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if the second Satoshi appears? on: November 05, 2023, 07:04:18 AM
Many altcoins have come and gone and Bitcoin is still on top. There are coins which many people would consider better than Bitcoin. It isn't enough to just launch a coin with better features. Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency to really gain traction. That is something that cannot be replicated so any new coin that launches will have to live in Bitcoin's shadow for a long time before it can really become a worthy challenger. Many projects already know it will be nearly impossible to overcome Bitcoin's network effect so instead they choose to carve out their own niche and there are a few that will work on improving Bitcoin.
642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No advertisement for btc on: November 05, 2023, 06:47:13 AM
Bitcoin isn't doesn't have a marketing team like many centralized altcoins. It can, however, be advertised indirectly. Whenever a major company accepts it for payment, whenever an exchange buys a Super Bowl ad, when a casino pays a big influencer for a social media post. These are all forms of advertisement. Bitcoin's properties have attracted commercial ventures to develop around it and do the marketing on its behalf.
643  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Telegram Casinos good or bad? on: November 05, 2023, 01:48:23 AM
It's really nice that you can build these kinds of apps on Telegram. I am not sure that casinos are the best use of this technology but it might be appealing to people who just want to kill some time and possibly make a few bucks. If people want to try it I would only recommend depositing a small amount. If a web3 wallet is required create a specific wallet just for this casino in case they are a scam so they will have limited access to your funds.

I still prefer a casino that is hosted outside of Telegram because it won't be so easy to shut down. I am not comfortable with something which can disappear instantly without a trace.
644  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: November 04, 2023, 05:46:54 AM
But going back to what babygun said, or was saying about FUN token, for me though, it used to be very promising, but right now, I am no longer very sure, most especially, for the fact that the token is already listed on some really good exchanges like binance, but coming to utility, aside the premium features holders of it on FreeBitco enjoy, there is nothing else to really be buying the tokens for, and outside of speculation, the price of the token can only when and if FreeBitco gain more users who are interested in the premium features of the site.
FUN token price is melting. And as BTC price rises, the tendency is that FUN becomes even cheaper when compared to this pair. The only interesting feature and reason to invest in FUN is the premium program, in my opinion. The possibility of earning extra interest through locking FUN is also relatively interesting, but I guess it works more like a consolation prize and extension of the premium program for a little extra profit, just like the WOF spins.

I'm still making extra 3695 satoshis passive income every day thanks to FUN holdings inside premium program... So it worths a lot, because I'm earning in BTC, and not FUN.

DPlay is FunToken's flagship casino but hardly anybody has heard of it. They only market it to FreeBitco.in users, but when they first started they didn't have many interesting games or promotions and that didn't make a good first impression. More marketing is needed outside of their own ecosystem if they want to become more popular. Dplay being exclusive to an obscure altcoin is also holding them back. They should accept other cryptocurrencies but give better perks to FUN users and make it easy to swap from other coins to FUN.
645  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is This sites Legit?? on: November 04, 2023, 04:18:11 AM
The certificates shown on their website do seem to be valid but it means absolutely nothing. Anybody can get one of these certificates for very cheap and scammers do it all the time to make their scam appear to be legitimate.

The friend who shared me this link is my living in my village and I know him very well for many years. One user of this sites referred more than 40 people and he recieving 110$ weekly salary also. Some old womens sold their jewelry for investing in this site. Many people makes withdrawal but I haven't invested yet because I haven't so much money and cannot afford to lose. I know that there are very experienced members in this forum , I asked here to confirm.

Thanks all who gives time to check this sites and gives me good advice. I will not invest in this site. I hope I will learn here with the time.

This sounds like a multi-level marketing scheme. These types of businesses can be very predatory by taking advantage of poor people. They will make promises of huge returns to get you to invest more than what you can afford to lose. If you say you can't afford it just stay away.

Their claims are very dubious so it is likely they will eventually scam. There are better ways of getting into dropshipping.
646  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: "change password frequently" on: November 04, 2023, 03:37:55 AM
Requiring people to change their password frequently is a bad practice because it makes them more likely to use a weak password because it will be easier to remember. I always use a unique strong password and different email alias for each site. If my credentials get leaked it will only affect one website. If the 2FA option is available I will choose to enable it for additional security.
647  Other / Off-topic / Re: RIP - Matthew Perry (1969-2023) aka Chandler Bing on: November 03, 2023, 07:11:12 AM
Friends was one of the last shows I enjoyed together with my siblings before we became estranged. The show is iconic and brings back some pleasant memories. It's tragic when a beloved personality passes away prematurely. Due to global events this news might fly under the radar but his legacy will always remain as somebody who was able to bring joy to many people's lives.
648  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: November 03, 2023, 06:41:02 AM
The scorecard was understandably confusing. Two judges had it in favour of Fury while one had it in favour of Ngannou. If the first judge scored the bout 95/94 in favour of Ngannou and the second judge scored it 95/94 in favour of Fury, how did the third judge score the bout 96/93 in favour of Fury especially after he was the one who was knocked down?

Most of the urgency, aggression and intent was by Ngannou because Fury completely underestimated what was going to happen in the ring. Fury looked as though he was a shadow of his former self. He needs to go back to the drawing board before he takes on Usyk otherwise he will lose the fight:
[ POLL ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK 23rd December 2023

Neither fighter landed or threw very many punches. When each fighter is landing less than 10 punches per round the final result can be very subjective. It was obviously a close fight but Fury landed more punches according to CompuBox and I felt like he outboxed Ngannou in the majority of rounds. Ngannou's power was impressive but Fury managed to dodge most of it by clinching and jabbing. As dreadful as Fury looked, his activity was enough to win rounds against a fighter with limited technique who solely focused on trying to win by knockout.
649  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Giveaway Scam On the Rise on: November 03, 2023, 04:37:39 AM
These types of scams have been going on for a long time. In 2020 there was a major incident where the twitter accounts of high-profile personalities like Joe Biden and Elon Musk were compromised and they tweeted out an address and promised to multiply your Bitcoin if you sent BTC to them. The scammers were eventually caught because they sent some of their funds to centralized exchanges which had their KYC information.
650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how secure are your telling fellow wo/man about this forum and bitcoin on: November 03, 2023, 04:10:21 AM
I wouldn't have a problem telling people basic information about the forum but I would never give them enough details where they can find my account and start snooping on my addresses. I'm usually careful about not reusing addresses for campaigns and contests and using other techniques to preserve my privacy, but there is still a concern that with enough motivation somebody could discover sensitive information about past and future BTC holdings and who I'm transacting with.

Just because somebody is close to you doesn't mean they're entitled to every detail. There are many forums and online communities I've been a part of but I've never found it necessary to tell anyone about my involvement.
651  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should we rely on prediction? on: November 02, 2023, 07:51:41 AM
According to Google the price of USDC will be over $2 in some years. This is about as reliable as any BTC price prediction you will see on YouTube or in online news headlines.

The crypto media loves to quote guys like Tim Draper and Tom Lee because they got lucky once or twice before but these so-called gurus have been way off many times. These permanently bullish predictions are an effective way of generating clicks because you’re telling people what they want to hear but they don’t have any basis in reality.
652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your one memory related to Bitcoin that you want to forget? on: November 02, 2023, 05:33:57 AM
I had one of the worst experiences. I have invested in one of the shitcoins called Pumapay on Bittrex. When I invested, the bitcoin price was approximately $17K, and I invested about 1.5 bitcoins. When the bear comes, my funds are gone. I wasn't about to sell at a loss, so I held it. Then, even after a long time, when again bull came, the shitcoin was still dump. Actually, the team scams investors. Eventually, I sold everything for $100. So it was the biggest scam, and I lost everything. This is the memory I want to forget about how I lost my bitcoin. After that, I was very careful about my investment. I don't like any shitcoin except Bitcoin right now. So far, I have found that Bitcoin is real; all others just pump and dump.

I was not aware of PumaPay had become a scam. I remember it being really hyped up and they even had a partnership with Pornhub. The ability to make recurring payments with crypto was fascinating but I expected them to fail because this system would only be possible through their own wallet app and you could only use their shitcoin for payments. While I'm glad to have avoided this scam token there are a few other ICOs which I immensely regret having invested in.
653  Economy / Gambling / Re: Freebitco.in - FUN Token Investment Experiment on: November 02, 2023, 04:41:35 AM
1nov23 FUN Token (ex Funfair)
---------------

Circulating Suply: 10.96 Bn
Total Supply:          10.98 Bn
Holders:                90,393
Market Rank                  389

Source:
Coinbase ---------------
Total FUN locked in Freebitco:  3.6 [32.78 % of Circulating Suply)
Source:
www.freebitco.in' Separator Premium / FUN Savings
---------------

Questions:

- Total Supply less Circulating Supply is 0.02 Bn. What does this mean?

- Someone is saying that "Freebitco have Bought FUN", but data above show that Freebitco just bought 1/3 of Supply to negociate with its clients and users. Although data seems to speak very clearly, I would like to have a better informed word - either an executive summary or a suggestion of sources to read will be welcome.

The circulating supply is less than the total supply because some of the tokens are sent to a burn address every 3 months and permanently removed from circulation.

1/3 is only the amount of the supply is locked in the FUN Savings program where users can earn interest on their holdings. There is also many tokens held on the site that are not locked and there is also some developer controlled wallets which hold more of the supply.

When FunFair held their ICO not all the tokens were sold to the public. A large percentage was set aside for the developers. FreeBitco.in bought those tokens and took over the project.
654  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: UTXO Management Best Practices on: November 01, 2023, 06:51:40 AM
It's kind of contradictory to ask for advice on best practices and completely disregard privacy. The best practice would be to only consolidate coins that come from the same source. If you only want to minimize your fees as much as possible then having the fewest amount of coins is the ideal way to go.

For an average person spending 1 full BTC would take a really long time so I would consider sending 1 BTC to 10 addresses in a pay-to-many transaction to avoid it being identified as a self-send and having a bit of plausible deniability.
655  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk - December or January in Saudi Arabia on: November 01, 2023, 05:49:49 AM
https://www.boxingnews24.com/2023/10/frank-warren-says-tyson-fury-needs-to-rest-until-2024-oleksandr-usyk-rematch-will-happen/

Fury’s promotor said that after a less than impressive performance by The Gypsy King, this fight is unlikely to happen in 2023. It’s far more likely that we will have to wait until 2024. It just builds the suspense I guess, this is the fight everybody wants to see, to unify the heavyweight division.

Fury has known ahead of time that Usyk would be his next opponent and that the fight would be in December. He should have prepared accordingly. Due to his lack of discipline he showed up out of shape and took unnecessary damage from Ngannou that will leave him unable to train normally for a few weeks. It will be a shame if the fight with Usyk is delayed but I also want to see both guys at their very best so the loser will have no excuses and there will be no doubt as to who is the best heavyweight in the world.
656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The difference between bitcoin and cryptocurrency. on: November 01, 2023, 05:07:18 AM
When people say "Bitcoin, not crypto" they want to create a differentiation so people don't conflate Bitcoin with all the scammy aspects of alternative cryptocurrencies. Altcoins are often associated with rugpulls, premines, pump and dumps, bad monetary policy and many other negative things. Bitcoin will always prioritize decentralization and security and that's why generalized ideas relating to cryptocurrency might not typically apply.
657  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Putin's Alleged death boost the world's economy? on: November 01, 2023, 04:26:05 AM
I checked the website that originally published the story and the main story featured on their homepage is about something related to "The Real Housewives of New Jersey", a scripted reality show. Clearly it's just a dumb tabloid grasping at whatever obscure, unsubstantiated rumor they could find to create some sensationalized clickbait story.
658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your one memory related to Bitcoin that you want to forget? on: October 31, 2023, 07:47:32 AM
I’ve had plenty of negative experiences. I’ve invested in shitcoins, lost way too much gambling, got scammed a few times. I’ve learned important lessons from these mistakes so I wouldn’t necessarily want to forget them but it’s something I’ve compartmentalized in order to avoid feeling distressed about it.
659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: LastPass hack - move your crypto assets to a more secure place right now! on: October 31, 2023, 05:29:39 AM
Cloud storage is a really bad idea when it comes to backing up your Bitcoin private keys. There are many wallets which offer to back up your encrypted seed in the cloud but it is completely unnecessary. Your seed phrase written on paper or a metal plate and kept in a safe place is all you need to be able to restore access to your funds.

For password management there are much better solutions than LastPass including open source self-hosted options. Passwordless logins are even starting to become a thing.
660  Economy / Economics / Re: Steam drops support for 2 fiat currencies over their volatlity on: October 31, 2023, 04:00:56 AM
I know many people had been using VPNs to get large discounts by changing their country to one of these regions. Sometimes getting a payment method that works can be difficult but with this change it might be easier to use this workaround because USD gift cards are widely available, although you will probably have to pay a bit more than when the pricing was in Argentinian and Turkish currency.
