One thing I was thinking of doing is to start an ERC20 token, but I'm not sure that counts as a service.

Don't worry too much about the section, Even if you Post it in the wrong section, A mod will move it to the right one.

Is anyone likely to visit it there.

You know there is a whole world outside of "Meta" Tongue You will find plenty of "Experts" out there  Grin

How about starting a moderated thread then? Anything you deem irrelevant should be deleted immediately so that the topic isn't diverted from the original concept. Smiley

It makes sense for PayPal to be threatened by Bitcoin because it has the potential to kill their business,

Please allow me to correct you there. Bitcoin is already killing them. I have been Paypal-free for the last 2 years. I have never felt the need to use my PayPal. I have bought domains/hostings with BTCs. Have bought advertisements on facebook via my BTC Visa card. Done Online shopping and was never forced to use my Paypal. I usually get triggered by statements like these which imply that "BTC only has the potential". BTC is already killing many businesses. I used to use Payza back in the day, Now I don't even remember the Email I used to register there. I don't care if you call me a member of a cult or a devil worshipper but I would gladly pay a 5% fee to a Raj in India to mine my transaction over a 2.5% fee to a "Rich" corporation to process my payment. As I believe Bitcoin is and will be a tool for redistributing wealth from these "Elites" to the masses.

but a 10% commission? Ridiculously fishy.

Do you know how much extra people can pay for getting their hands on virgin coins? On average it's around 10% above the market price. And to OP, no one here is a lawyer. If that 10% you will be making is worth $$$$ then you should go get some legal advice from a proper lawyer. You don't want to end up in a money laundering effort or something even worse. Good Luck!

Thx for the link - it`s clear now.

Don't mention it.

YOu`re right, i`m not going to get my acc. back. It was not signed with pgp or bitcoin addres.

Since he is not getting his account back, Pharmacist mind tagging the account? So that it's clear that this account is "hacked". It will also prevent the "Hacker" from joining any signature campaigns. Or what's even better, ummasek you should ask a mod to ban that account, So its gone forever.
686  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM ALERT with "defenderlucid" username. Be careful with your money! on: August 18, 2018, 11:19:47 PM
It is indeed the same guy, Just read his post. Here is the "un-shady" version of his Facebook post. https://www.facebook.com/Sonnyrib/posts/2089475681371771

The OP got scammed for $30. Apparently, he had $260K worth of tokens but couldn't withdraw because he was having issues with KYC policy that's why he was "Looking" for a verified account to withdraw his tokens. The whole case is retarded. OP said he didn't even have 30 bucks on him to pay the scammer but somehow arranged them later on. If you want a good laugh go on read the post.

And to OP, The Police can't do shit against him, just forget about those 30 bucks! And remember to always use Escrow for even small deals like these. Funny how he said that you aren't a high ranked member for him to trust you but you trusted him anyway while he was just a jr.member himself?? Sometimes I wonder how stupid can the people be.

688  Other / Meta / Re: A suggestion to encourage/recognize good posting behaviour on: August 18, 2018, 09:46:50 PM
Just like Loyce Said, It won't serve any purpose. The Merit sources won't go through the trouble of viewing user's recent posts. It doesn't make their "Job" any easier. Unless you mean a "Traffic light system" for each and every post. So if someone responds and the answer is helpful it could be sort of "Upvoted" and the "Traffic light system" would turn green against that post. Even if you mean the latter. Developing these things would take years and by then "Spamming" may not be an issue anymore But that's wishful thinking on my part.

Quote
Some are posting good content and getting no recognition.

That's why I am trying to build a team who would look out for these "Good Content" Posts and report back in a thread. Each member would be assigned to a different board and will report in weekly. It's not a perfect solution but it will be something "Hopefully".
689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: it's too hot in the room! on: August 18, 2018, 09:21:19 PM
Took a quick look at your temps. Your Gtx 1080ti is running quite hot. You should throttle it down. Are you Running MSI afterburner? You should manually set up your fan speeds to 70% manually. BTW your 37 Degree room temperature is with Air Conditioning or without? I had my rigs run in a 45 Degrees Room temp. They have been mining at stable 70 Degrees for the past 3 months without a hitch. I don't have any sort of Air conditioning for them. Target the number 70 and you should be good.

As for what more you should do. I believe you have done enough with Open windows, Table cooling Fan and air conditioning. You can't do anything more than this, Except for blasting out the Air condition 24/7 but it won't be profitable. Good luck!

Failure to see at night. That’s impossible, too. Lidar by definition includes a laser, and forward-facing cameras work well with headlamps.

From the video footage, I couldn't see her till she was in front of the car. Couldn't have done much even if it was a human. The road wasn't lit enough IMO. I doubt the cameras would have picked her up. Even if its the AI's fault. These cases will be considered "Outliers". How many crashes do humans cause per year after "Billions" of years of evolution? while this thing has been out for not even a decade yet. It's kind of unfair to judge these things this early.

Having said that, AI engineer is one of the best jobs to have right now. I know folks who got $200k straight out of college. Good option for anyone worried about job security over the next 50 years.

Agreed! but I wouldn't call this job "Secured".

It would be spammed by everyone who desperately needed merits. I don't think this is a good idea. Better to have community lead projects where people can post quotes or links to their posts and others can decide if they're deserving of merits.

Yup! I will create one soon...  Tho it will require some moderating tho. I will choose a few people from different sections to be the part of the team, They can report in every week with the posts they think should be merited by the merit sources.

As for your challenge. Follow the "0" or the "default merit value" and you will find your targets Tongue

You sure about that?

Exascale computing is around the door, we arent in the 1980's anymore.

Though i agree to the shift happening, and this time the shift will kick out all (still existing) low to most medium thinking jobs until skynet will enslave the rest of humanity.

AI doctors and lawyers are just the beginning.

Exactly! just take my Dota 2 AI bot as an example. It took 6 weeks of gameplay on a high-end PC which is still millions of times slower than the supercomputers we have. Imagine, how good these AIs will get once they are trained on these supercomputers. The possibilities are endless.

@squatz1 @suchmoon You guys should really watch this 15-minute Gem by CGP Grey. "Human need not Apply": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Pq-S557XQU

The video isn't about AIs but how the world is changing and how this time it is different.

If you want to read the transcript of the video you can read it here: http://www.cgpgrey.com/blog/humans-need-not-apply

As a new member I admit that may be I haven't got vast knowledge like you. But I think by discussion I can learn and expand my knowledge. I wish I can learn a lot in future by following someone experienced like you and other DT members. In my topic I try my best to elaborate.

Look bud I have nothing against you. Also, I don't have "vast knowledge" of any sorts. It's just that using google translate for posting here will only leave a negative impact on your profile. Someone might report you for a poor quality post and it may end up in a ban. If you want to suggest something then Suggest it in your local board and ask a person who has "Good" enough English to post here. If you would have researched a bit, you would have found that this topic has been discussed many times before and doesn't serve any purpose except for creating more spam.

If you really want to learn, then start by learning English as it will help you learn more things. Do more reading and less writing for now. Join Jet Cash's fit to talk program. It can help you a lot. Good luck Smiley

Why you reply on shitpost ?

Umm, To Warn him Roll Eyes

If I ware same moto from you that means you are my alt ?

No. But it would raise suspicion, Seeing a shitpost getting 5 sMerit.

I don't know post are from Google translate or not but I strongly agree with OP and I consider this is a useful post so I merited him with 5 smerit.

I Guess broken English can only be understood by people who write broken English.

You didn't ware signature?

Yes, I am indeed "wearing" a signature.

Don't attack personally to some one.

I have nothing against you! It's just that, Posts like these make my eyes bleed! I have Stopped visiting a few sections altogether just to not see posts like these. Don't want Meta to be ruined too!

I have sent a message to Zapo.
695  Other / Meta / Re: Community generated suggestions to improve the forum (+ eventual voting on them) on: August 17, 2018, 05:06:26 PM
I wouldn't mind it. A handful of merit sources is all it takes I think, at least initially.

I have a feeling though that for all the complaining about undermerited posts etc, the queue would be empty most of the time, or spammed by the usual shitposters trying to report their own posts. Every time the subject is brought up and I ask for examples I get crickets.

Nope, you got it all wrong. There won't be users reporting their own posts because only a few selected members will be able to report in that thread.  As for queue being empty, I kinda agree but it will defeat the purpose of this team if the thread remains empty most of the time.

I doubt it is an "alt". Coolcryptovator has better grammar than the OP.

Perfect English is not part of my criteria for giving merit - I don't expect it to be part of other peoples criteria either.
While I didn't merit it - I can see why others would.

It isn't about "perfect English" but rather creating a topic about an issue which has been discussed literally thousands of time around here. Also, they aren't doing any favour to the community by using google translate except to bump up their signature posts. That's why we have local sections. People who have trouble writing English should stick to those. Else they will end up making useless and low-quality posts.

There are a couple of points in your comment. I don't think that many of the merit sources applied for the job. I think they were appointed by Theymos as a result of their history in awarding merits or their potential. This was so in my case. I received a quantity of sMerit as a hero when the system was introduced, and I was awarded a few hundred additional merits as a result of my posting. I gave these out in ones and twos, and I tried to award them for quality posts. As a result of this, I was recruited as a source during the secondary allocation.

Gotcha!

Quote
We are not paid as sources, and it is a time consuming voluntary activity.

So its all about the money eh? So if you guys were getting paid to do this you would have taken more interest? is that what you are trying to say here?

Quote
In fact it can be quite depressing as a pastime, I've tried quite a few things to help junior members, and to improve posting quality, many of them have been ignored, and the others  gain sporadic support.

Agreed! These members aren't worth saving and the energies of merit sources shouldn't be spent on them. That's why I suggested creating a team of members who would report in "High standard posts" for merit sources to go through and reward them if they deserve any. This team can be made by the consensus of the community and I am sure many people would volunteer for this. This will distribute the workload and won't be a "time consuming voluntary activity" anymore.

I think it would be a good idea, but I don't know too many merit sources which would be willing to crawl through a queue of messages which have been reported for being of high standard.

Don't merit sources have a duty towards the community? Why become a source then if you are not willing to do your assigned job? I don't see the staff/moderators complaining about the number of shitposts they have to delete or the number of bot accounts they have to nuke! If you can't even go through the trouble of meriting already sorted "High standard posts" Then I believe you don't deserve to be a merit source in any shape or form!
699  Other / Meta / Re: Account buy - sell should be ban officially on: August 17, 2018, 12:42:32 PM
Wow! Am I the only one here who is suspecting an Alt account here? The OP's post was garbage, most likely a google translation. Then comes in "Coolcryptovator" and merits him with 5 points for a shitpost.  Roll Eyes

And this doesn't stop here. He makes another Shitpost to bump up his signature posts and guess what? Both have a motto of "Scam free Bitcointalk".

I have seen 2 "shitposts" today from users wearing the BQT signature, I will check up with the manager soon.

One would say that Bitcoin Sections are extremely undermerited looking at the numbers, but I'd say that Merit Sources do visit those boards. Nevertheless, we also find plenty of spam there (Bitcoin Discussion), and the really technical stuff is not that easy to follow and neither do those sections have a large amount of posts on a daily basis.

In the words of "great" Donald Trump. Bitcoin Discussion board is a "shithole" and I don't blame merit sources for not visiting that place often. But people helping out in the technical stuff do deserve to be merited. They are the ones who are actually "Helping" the users here. That's why I believe we should assign merit sources to different boards so that right people are meriting the right folks. You don't want a merit source who knows nothing about Bitcoin technicalities meriting users in that board.

Quote
where ideas like having mods or trusted people give "alerts" on unmerited sections could help

What I propose is to start a program like "SpamBusters" instead of reporting users who are spamming. Users could be assigned to different boards and they would report in the posts which are under-merited or haven't received merit at all. This should ease out the process of meriting users for the merit sources IMO.
