701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you using Bitcoin Cash? on: October 08, 2017, 07:17:34 PM
Have you extracted bitcoin cash from your btc seeds yet? If yes, are you using them?
Or have you sold them or exchanged them for another alt or bitcoin.
Or do you plan to hold them as well and expect the value to go high similar to bitcoin.

I have extracted my BCH from my BTC seeds not too long ago which I even blame myself why I waited that long before converting because from the time I plan the extraction and the time I actually did it, its was only the downward trend that was witnessed and I don't even know if things will change anytime soon. I also don't see anyone keeping for long because most avenue to convert to fiat is either through BTC or ETH which leaves BCH out of the equation.
702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN CASH is probably DYING on: October 08, 2017, 06:21:07 PM
The way I see it, of something drastic is not done to revive the price of BCH, anyone who hasn't been able to claim his BCH or who held on to it would probably might no longer need it again because it will become so worthless and not worth the stress of claiming. With the upcoming fork, I see a massive movement to the new coin but the same fate awaits its too because BCH has created a fork which won't stop anytime soon.

704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee says it costs him 1000$ to mine 1 Bitcoin. Is it really that cheap? on: October 08, 2017, 02:55:13 PM
I am not engaging in mining but the fact is the basis of arriving at that costs needs to be identified considering costs defer from country to country. If he had to buy the equipment in the shop next door or even set up the farm, it would definitely be cheaper than someone who is going to have to ship it into the country aside that the cost of electricity, labour overheads differ on the basis of countries so before concluding to assume that that's the total amount he spent, then there is need for proper analysis as well.
705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin replace gold? on: October 08, 2017, 10:13:00 AM
Gold in general is no better. The value of gold is nothing more than a result of a global consensus - at the moment everyone agrees to consider gold a measure of value, simply because this measure is in some form or another necessary. If we assume a utopian situation, that tomorrow everyone agrees that gold is not such a measure, then it will be good only for the production of quality wires and trinkets.
The btc is gaining momentum for exactly the same reason - the global consensus towards the btc is constantly being strengthened. In this case, unlike gold, the cue-ball is not only a measure of value, but also a settlement system, and gold is not a competitor for this parameter.

Both Gold and bitcoin represent different purpose and they stand for separate things I don't see anyone replacing the other rather I see some complement. We tend to create issues for ourselves by believing everything is about competition but in most cases not that. The world financial system is large enough to accommodate the expansion of both bitcoin and gold with one not running into loss because of the other.
706  Economy / Exchanges / Re: FUCKING COINBASE on: October 08, 2017, 07:02:44 AM
Forgot my Coinbase password...

So I chose to reset my password. I enter me email address, they send me an email...which says we'll send you ANOTHER email to prompt you to change your password. But this email will arrive IN 24 HOURS.

What the fuck?

Every post I've made supporting Coinbase, I take it back.

Coinbase, if you're listening, get your shit together. You need to run your business as if it was a fucking real business. I should be getting an "reset your password" email within 10 minutes. Full stop.

Coinbase is one huge platform that have a lot of client base and would prefer to tell one client you need to take a chill. I think the 24hours they said could be the maximum but if its an automated message, I guess there is no other choice to than for you to wait for the next 24 hours and when that happen, you better start looking for alternative if you are convinced you no longer want to patronise them again.

707  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bittrex or Poloniex. which one do you like to trade? on: October 07, 2017, 12:38:54 AM
Both are great platforms to trade. I have an account on bittrex but I have not used it because I prefer to trade on lower reputable exchange where when I have issues no matter his small the value involved, someone is ready to attend to me and doing in due time is what matter than trading on big platform if the otherwise happen, no one is there to provide answers and also I want to help them grow in my own little way.

709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin cash or Bitcoin gold? on: October 06, 2017, 08:30:27 PM
Which of these two is going to fetch higher prices? What do you guys think?
BCC has failed to get high enough to be called a real contender. Will the new one beat it and get closer to dethroning the king?

Based on current happenings, I would still put my bets on bitcoin because going forward I see BCH receiving much more downward trend because the moment we see another fork, I see BCH being abandoned to take on the next fork and the reason for that is because they are riding on the popularity of bitcoin without creating their own niche or developing in their own pace. Bitcoin will still generate higher price than any of the forks.
710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO without Slack? on: October 06, 2017, 05:24:30 PM
My phone is lighting up with slack notifications from scammers. Seems like every ICO is unable to close the vulnerability.

What are your thoughts on running an ICO and simply skipping slack as a social channel? Do people even care about slack when there's bitcointalk, telegram, discord, etc.?

There is nothing wrong with using slack as it makes it easier for the team to form and bond, communicate in real time and at the same time be able to supervise the activities then release privilege information about the coordination of activities. The forum on the other hand is a platform to showcase their activities to the community then be ready for probe, analysis, argument and counter arguments and the determining factor as to whether the project will be successful or not.
711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ico better or nothing on: October 06, 2017, 01:47:44 PM
Sometimes, doing nothing with your funds is much more better than investing in ICOs not because its bad or developers don't have good intentions but because the bad ones have soiled the good ones and in the struggle to separate, the authentic from the scam, you are even taking risks which might not turn out well. But with proper analysis and ability to read and make reasonable conclusions from submissions of others, you are sure to make the right decision.
712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What You Need To Know To Get FREE Bitcoin Gold During The Fork. on: October 06, 2017, 11:36:07 AM
I am not seeing any difference in what is being said prior to the period before August 1 fork when the uncertainties was even high and panicking was the order of the day but at last everything happen so easy. That now even most repuatbale wallets and exchnage sites supports BCC and if you want to claim now, its one of the easiest so far you have you private key or pneumonic phrases with you and you are good to go.
713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcons are just empty numbers on the internet without any value or legal power on: October 06, 2017, 07:46:08 AM
Unlike numbers on a bank account, which represent legal liability of the bank and are backed by the collateral of specified real estate or other debt instrument that a borrower offers as a way for a bank to secure the loan, the numbers on a bitcoin address are completely void of any legal liability since software that creates them is not a legal entity which can have legal rights and obligations.

So basically, people are paying huge amounts of money to get some empty numbers which are then recorded in a public ledger on the internet. If nobody wants to accept these numbers in exchange for dollars, goods or services, they are as useless as a random number that I write on a piece of paper.

On the other hand, since dollars in a bank account are bank's liability, if nobody wants to accept dollars in exchange for goods and services, they will be settled over time through the legal system by transferring real assets from those who have received loans from the bank, since loans are secured by the collateral of specified immovable or movable property and they represent bank's assets. This comes from the fact that obligation to repay the debt would not vanish if nobody wants to accept dollars. Since the borrower received real assets for its dollars, in the absence of dollars the borrower's debt must also be settled by real assets. Alternatively, since dollars that are in circulation were exchanged for goods and services by some borrower and since he is obligated to repay his debt in dollars, if nobody wants to accept dollars the borrower is the one who is forced to accept them in exchange for goods and services otherwise he is unable to settle his obligation to the bank. Besides being backed by borrower's collateral, dollars are also backed by banks' capital and the ability to pay taxes. As we can see, dollars on their own, have real measurable value, just like goods or services.

Bitcoins on the other hand, don't have value on their own, and if nobody wants to accept them in exchange for dollars, goods or services, no legal action can be taken by their 'owners' to get some kind of value out of them. As such, Bitcons are just empty numbers on the internet, which means that people are exchanging real values for literally nothing.

And here we go again over and over this thing that have been discussed times without number. You know what Op people have said worse, government have done worse, CEOs have said their own but what is happening is just reverse as the upward trend is happening what makes you think you post will make any difference is what does not cease to amaze me.
714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash & Bitcoin Gold? on: October 05, 2017, 07:57:23 AM
Hi All,

Does an individual need to hold at least one BTC before they can get the equivalent BITCOIN CASH or BITCOIN GOLD?

I have about 30% of one BTC would I be eligible for some?

If so, I know gold is not out yet but how would I claim bitcoin cash for the amount I have?

Cheers

You don't need to own 1 btc to claim BCC even if you own 0.0002btc before the fork, you will claim it, but you must have own it before the fork. In claiming it, there have been several threads on it on the forum depending on the wallet the btc is before the fork. You can use BTC.com for Jazz, Blockchain.info or you can use Coinomi mobile app to claim from Etherum or Bitcoincash depending on the one you find more comfortable. You can use Google to help you out.
715  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Did you ever lose time from work or school due to gambling? on: October 05, 2017, 06:52:56 AM
Despite all my escapades in gambling right from the start of my journey, I have never witnessed anything of such like missing school or work and the reason is because, I have come to realise that in everything you do, priorities must be set right and when that happens, it does not have any business clashing with other important areas of ones life. When I free time, I play only and not the other way round.
716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Live betting? on: October 04, 2017, 08:28:01 PM
Wheres everyone go for in game betting?
Thankyou

I have registered on quite a number of sites but the site I have actually tried live betting is betballer which was only on soccer because that's my one sure way of betting for me and its something I enjoyed. Its being a while though but I am optimistic that the option would still be available for users who are interested in using the option to make a run for their money.
717  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can maths help you win in gambling ? on: October 04, 2017, 05:48:24 PM
Even if mathematics can do some help in gambling, I am sure quite a number of us will still fail to win. One subject I hate the most is mathematics and I am not sure I can understand anything beyond normal mathematics to the extent that whenever I try to understand the house edge and the basis behind bank rolling, the moment the calculation there is getting too complex, I just give up on it. Imagine I will have to do complex calculation to win, I will rather pass but fortunately for me in the games I play, no element of mathematics is involved.
718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is finding members for signature bounties getting harder and harder? on: October 04, 2017, 02:11:23 PM
Hello!

Lately it seems that getting members to join signature bounties became very hard till almost impossible. Hugh amounts joining social-networks bounties tho.

Are the big numbers of upcoming icos the reason?

OR what else could it be?

What I feel is he cause is because people are becoming more conscious with the series of scams concerning ICOs, then I want to be sure that I am not joining to promote scam which could soil my name in the process. Another is because people want to be sure of receiving their payment which bounties especially alt coins wont pay until the end of the ICO which might then take several months and sometimes might not happen eventually due to target not being met by the promoters of such ICO.
719  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: fall of bitcoin Necessary............bitcoin is a threat For the dollar on: October 04, 2017, 01:28:29 PM
The price of Bitcoin falling is indeed necessary, but not for the reason you suggest.

In fact, the price must fall for the simple reason that the exponential growth we have seen in the past few months is not sustainable over the long term. We are in what is a classic bubble - and a huge one at that.

If the price continues rising, it cannot go too much higher before ultimately crashing back to A LOT lower... close to where it started rising to begin with.

I completely agree with this your line of thought because we don't expect everything to just be experiencing upward trend without some form of correction that alone will send bad signal to the entire world and confirm their speculation about being a Ponzi scheme. But a situation like this teaches everyone some element of humility which you will be forced to possess if you really want to profit in this industry and that is exactly what is needed at this time.
720  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it ok to buy bitcoins on ebay? on: October 04, 2017, 12:27:28 PM
Ebay of all places to buy bitcoin, I wouldn't try it. There are several exchange sites that even allow fiat deposits if that is the reason to patronise ebay. The only concern is the fee but I would rather pay high fees and get what I paid for than to loose everything to an individual and ebay would not be held responsible since that is not the reason why they are running their site and especially since the deal will be done outside their platform.
