I know, I know, I was only joking to intolerant bitcoin maxis triggered by the high fees…
Hopefully, Stratum V2 will solve this problem.
I've read at some point some quite unhappy things from the actual miners about Stratum V2. Make sure your expectations on the matter are not too high.

AFAIK, BTC address never expires and in Binance you can only have one deposit address for bitcoin so if they sre changing addresses of everyone for some reasons then its due to development of their platform or something like that so why we should be worried about? Some may have been using Binance as a wallet. Some may receive funds on such addresses. Some may have published such addresses as donation address. The address will not expire ever, but, depending on what will Binance do internally, it may be that they will no longer use nor watch the wallet(s) having the old addresses, hence the user accounts will not get funded if money will come to those addresses. So for people using Binance as an exchange it's not a problem at all. But those using Binance (account) as a wallet... may get to learn on the hard way that's better to use their own wallets as wallets.

Observing empty block!
~
How dare you!
It looks to be the usual problem: the empty block came too early (maybe seconds) after another block. You can see both with "10 minutes". (But yeah, you may already know all this.)

This is really strange and it makes me think that same group of people is controlling or commanding this manufacturers what to do.
It may be just the hunger for money. They may have been seeing Ledger's crap news and thought "what a wonderful idea, let's do that ourselves and get rich from selling to the idiots monthly subscription on making the seed less secure". Thanks for the heads up, @dkbit98

Although I go there more often than it shows, there's still a lot of inactivity or discussions in .. probably in Russian .. which I don't mind, just it doesn't help us, those who don't know that language Of course, you are only the campaign manager, so not really your problem. TalkImg API returned an error, let me know if you're still getting this.
No. I've ran it again right after that and it managed to handle all the pages of my history without errors (well, excepting a few too large images and a couple of locked topics, but it's okay). Sorry for the late answer and thanks.

Did you try to just use the AppImage? It may run and would save you a lot of time and hassle. Just make sure you get it from the official website and check the signature.

I've just got a different one:

For consideration: some images are posted by many different users, it wouldn't make sense to have all of them upload the data again with their own unique filename
Imho this is a non-problem. An image-website owner would notice in less than a month he can optimize his space by checking the images (maybe their checksums at first) and not store the duplicates while providing same or different (by his choice) links to them. And before the question arises, where deletion is possible, the actual file will be removed only when reference count goes to 0.

I guess that option 2 is okay. Not optimal, still okay. The users active on Bitcointalk can act if they want to, there's a script doing a great job. The rest of the posts will at least have the links to the images.

It depends on how you plan to use it. If you start it up and forget about it, Fulcrum would be better since it can deliver better performance after it's synced. If you plan to start it up every now and then when you need it and don't mind if a wallet with many transactions is not lightning fast to receive, Electrs is better choice. In both cases Bitcoin core sync is not taken into account.

Hai ca ne-a facut imgur pocinogul! Am reusit sa fixez link-urile tuturor pozelor incarcate de mine in acest topic.

Yes, we all know SSD, faster PC, and so on and this becomes a non issue. But someone just reusing an old PC is going to be miserable.
You're right. Putting at least chainstate and the indexes onto a small SSD at least until IBD is over helps a lot. A good dbcache may also help. Using UTP instead of old generation wireless makes a difference too. But these are mentioned in Bitcoin Core topics, better than I could write them. I've done my IBD on my main computer, with SSD and the data disk as external. Then I've moved everything to the final position. PS. Initial sync of Fulcrum is also rather lengthy on HDD iirc.

We have it on factoid which indicates that we are making a good progress.
The background of that idea is that if anyone is forgetting "what was that website's name", he can look quickly for it in the "More" area. ...It should help for the new posts.
|
|
|
I will come back to the error I've noticed. I've seen in the script a part that writes " https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=557798", which is TryNinja's profile. The next line is fetching data from there. So yeah, I guess that everybody is trying to copy TryNinja's images PS. After changing in the script his user id with mine I stopped getting that error.

I didn't read all the pages whether this was asked already, I surely hope it was, but no effect yet, hence I'll try myself: Any chance @theymos adds a link to TalkImg.com or at least to this very topic in the More (Various links) page?
|
|
|
I didn't look into the script, I just tried to run it by the instructions. Well... I've got errors like the one from the linked image and... the posts to be edited seem to be TryNinja's I guess that it still needs a little work, however, I do like the idea and I appreciate the effort (hence the merit). PS. Does this also cover the parts of the forum I've posted in the past and now I have them ignored?

I think this is also one of limitation of bitcoin that we need internet to use it. Internet is the foundation for a lot of services and it's well known that bitcoin doesn't work without internet, although certain attempts/workaround exist, from radio waves and SMS to use of "physical bitcoin" things (like OpenDime, Satodime and others) or what what already said (Starlink & others) However, it's not something new that certain countries can and do prevent people from using bitcoin whether they do it intentionally (China) or maybe not necessarily intentionally (your case, I don't know the legal status there) and not necessarily unexpected. That doesn't make Bitcoin worse overall. It does make your government though But people tend to find their ways around. At least fixed internet may be necessary for modern banking system (and I mean here the actual banks). And if the government start filtering this and that, Tor, VPN are still ways to go around. They usually cannot stop all the possible ways.
