721  Economy / Economics / Re: Introduction of new cryptocurrency without hampering the present demand of btc on: October 04, 2017, 10:13:15 AM
Huh
Quite frankly with the advent of bitcoins new cryptocurrencies are being introduced day by day. that could be a potential reason of decrease in value of bitcoins because the crowd that bitcoins would have generated in terms of demand is now divided into small segments.
Is there a way to introduce them without hampering the present demand and supply of bitcoins and at the same time assuring that they can move up nicely in the market.

With this your analysis, I don't believe the population of bitcoin is being fragmented because even with the last hard fork that occur, it makes a jump up in the price of bitcoin which reached a high level never touched before. The trust in bitcoin is yet to be threatened by any alt or by any hard fork. Just like musicians having several fans, it does not hamper one musician from another musician they run on their own without affecting each other because an individual does not have problem being the fan of several artist.
722  Economy / Speculation / Re: But if China gov say mining is illegal, we are fucked. Haipo Yang‏ ViaBTC CEO on: October 04, 2017, 05:37:20 AM
Despite the fact that its dumb for China to look into that direction and ban mining, its is even more dumber for ViaBTC CEO to have come out and announce such important weakness to the whole world because even if the Chinese authority are not looking into that direction, it then means there is a place to be exploited and he shown them the route to make that a possibility.  Any country can go extreme length in an extreme situation and when the pressure in high, banning mining might be the least action they would consider.
723  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Planting cannabis for self consumption. on: October 03, 2017, 02:09:57 PM
Is it still illegal if you are going to plant your own cannabis for self consumption? Without any plans of selling it just for own use. Considering in some countries medical marijuana is already accepted.

There are some plants in that no matter how you try to sugar coat it, its not allowed. Its like saying you want to get a baby tiger and start rearing it so far its in your compound, it wont be allowed. Cannabis is a dangerous plant that will not be allowed under any guise by a country that has declared it illegal. Just like you wont be allowed to commit suicide despite its your life so also we wont allow you grow cannabis.
724  Other / Politics & Society / Re: impact of internet and technology on: October 03, 2017, 01:21:30 PM
The impact of technology and internet today has come to define our very own existence and it seems we cannot even do without it. From the social media to the banking system, insurance, health system, data base management, security, air travels, everything concerning transportation have come to rely on the those two fundamental innovation that have happened to human existence.
725  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you a True Believer? on: October 03, 2017, 08:56:18 AM
I see alot of people are holding Bitcoins and are convinced that their coins would multiply in value. The same people preach the Bitcoin ideology that its P2P,  decentralised, low to nil send or receive etc.

However, only a small group of people today are using Bitcoins as they were intended. And the fees are not exactly cheap to buy Bitcoins, not to mention those exchange places are basically like banks.

So my question is, are you a True believer of Bitcoins and other Cryptocurrencies that it will one day replace paper money, decentralised and all. Or are you only a believer that the price will continue to climb and you'll one day be a millionaire?

I simply find it fascinating that its apparent, people are preaching the benefits of Bitcoins but they are not using them. Preaching to newbies and drive up the demand and prices of the coins.
Rather, I would love to see people who really believe in Bitcoins, actually going out there and using the coins to purchase products, send/receive coins and let the coins circulate around. I would love to see that day. When the prices are not so volatile, and the coins are being used as they were intended. However, not being volatile also means the prices would rise sharply like it has been this year, which also means you wont be a millionaire holding onto them coins.

So are you a True Believer?

By default on the average everybody involved in bitcoin is a believer but being a true believer as you have right proposed here is really beyond the individual on what you want. In several cases, a lot of us wants to spend bitcoin to get basic things but the avenue is not available to spend we are then left with the option of holding (which then increase without no fault of ours) till the time its enough to be converted to fiat in other to get the basic things we need.

726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ban in South Korea on: October 02, 2017, 04:08:53 PM
South Korea has not banned bitcoin the release I read is about the banning of ICOs and the regulation of exchange sites other than that, nothing else is in the pipeline. Howe'er, only a super power like China in bitcoin should talk about banning bitcoin and we should be worried. By getting worried of South Korea notification will start giving the authorities over there that they also have some level of control over the .market in which they could equally exploit.
727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China can't bring bitcoin down! on: October 02, 2017, 03:34:18 PM
Now that bitcoin is going up again, this could only mean that China, ( no matter how big you are ) could not bring bitcoin down!
Who will agree with me?Smiley

I agree with you but the issue about China is that we really don't know their intention and we cannot not say emphatically if they can stop bitcoin or not in the sense that, the recent crash that was witnessed is something attached to China but they never came with an official statement of the ban but while everything was being speculative. Until when we are sure of their intentions towards bitcoin, we can then  rightly conclude the right position to take.
728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stealing Bitcoins from online wallets with 2FA on: October 02, 2017, 02:54:26 PM
I see people calling for 2FA as a safety mechanism for their accounts even tho there is a huge vulnerability in the mobile networks known for years now.
2FA just increases the complexity of the attack, it doesn't stop it at all. Here is an article from The Hacker News that came out today about using 2FA on Bitcoin online wallets like Coinbase, although they say that it isn't a vulnerability in Coinbase at all but in the mobile system design flaws instead.

https://thehackernews.com/2017/09/hacking-bitcoin-wallets.html

The conclusion here is that you shouldn't consider a mobile network safe.

For every method to keep your wallet safe, there will always be a flaw in the system but so far, 2FA has been one way to guide against that because to get to that point an hacker getting access to your 2FA code then there must be serious compromise of the entire account even going beyond emails to include mobile number which is mostly attached to 2FA codes. The moment this option is no longer strong enough, I am sure other methods will be provided.
729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Problem Gamblers here who are in Debt ? on: October 02, 2017, 01:47:43 PM
I doubt if there is anybody who will admit that he is a problematic gambler who is in debt as a result of that. If we have such individual then the is need for therapy because its obvious he has not stopped to be here. I gamble as well but not to the point of using someone else's resources for that purpose and even my own money, there is a limit that I can go to gamble with it. When that is known before hand, problem and troubles will be avoided.
730  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin Volatility Be Controlled? on: October 02, 2017, 01:00:48 PM
I think that you can control the volatility of bitcoin by launching a bad or good condition. Good news will increase the price, and the bad will be lowered on the contrary.

Controlling volatility being referred to here is not about what you are saying but about ensuring that its minimised to the barest minimum in that rate of differentials in a space of one month is not as large as we have it now. In controlling the volatility at this time will amount to waste of time and effort which is something that is causing some challenges because it makes planning difficult, merchants can say for sure their 0.01btc will remain the same $44.06 at this time in the next one month. Until the acceptance of bitcoin has reached a high level, we might not be over with volatility.
731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you set up limits for yourself? on: October 02, 2017, 09:47:40 AM
Anybody in gambling that does not set some limits by default without being told, is actually calling for trouble in which when it comes, it might be too much to handle. I set a limit for myself in the ones I am playing and that is a separate balance is kept for gambling at any point in time if that amount is exceeded as a result of winning, the extra is transferred out but if its depleted as a result of loss, what I do is to wait till I have free money to float it again.
732  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to know the people behind the investment scheme that the real intention was on: October 02, 2017, 09:01:27 AM
Many people today are greedy for money. And do everything to it. And I do not blame them because we really want our lives to make money so we will not get tired of working 5 to 8 hours and give our children a bright future. But with so much greed we can do bad things like schemes to conjure up true and not thieves. But the ultimate goal is to steal. Many really are not punished. Now my question is how can this be solved? How can we identify someone if bitcoins are not centralized and only bitcoins address only what we know. How to stop it. How do we know who is behind the investment that eventually turned thief of our hard-earned money

The simple truth to this is greediness. The ones promoting such site and the ones investing, are rule by their selfish interest of greed and they know that someone somewhere will always want the easiest way to get the maximum reward, then they play on that attitude which most times is always successful whether they will be caught or not, is a risk they are willing to gamble. The solution to stopping that, is simply by understanding that there is no free money anywhere.
733  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is cryptominermart.com a scam? on: October 02, 2017, 06:59:07 AM
I am wondering if anyone has bought any equipment from them. I bought some D3s October batch and am having some doubts about their website.

If you have come across them before, please let me know your experience. BTW, I already opened up a dispute with Paypal just in case that they are not legit. I want the miners but protecting my money is my number #1 priority.

I have not heard about the site before but because a lot of people here might not have heard from the them is not a justification to label as scam. Also, since you have bought already, the only you can do now is just to wait for them to make real of their promise of delivery of what you paid and I am sure the timing is no longer too long again for you to be able to decide whether they are actually scammers or meant real business. But if you had paid through PayPal then be sure your fund is partly secure just be ready to act fast.
734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Rumours saying Neo is now legal in China on: October 01, 2017, 11:11:10 PM
Hello,

I was checking out #neo on Twitter and saw a lot of articles saying Neo is legal as from today in China.
So this would be the coin not banned from the exchanges.

Does anyone have more info?

Since its rumor for now, I then don't see why reverence should be given to such and if you heard it from somewhere or read it, you should have equally put the reference as well so that it can be discussed. It has been said several times that the only thing China has banned is the ICOs which is even no longer a subject of discussion and for NEO, we need to get a clearer view on the situation of things before arriving at a conclusion.
735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The SEC has started enforcement actions against fraudulent ICOs on: October 01, 2017, 09:47:40 PM
According to a new press release from the SEC, two ICOs have been targeted for enforcement actions -- REcoin and the Diamond Reserve Club, which are apparently run by some fraud named Maksim Zaslavskiy. He claimed that $2 - $4 million was raised in the ICOs, when only $300,000 was raised. He also claimed to have a "team of lawyers, professionals, brokers, and accountants" when apparently none had ever been consulted. There is an emergency court order to freeze his assets (but good luck to the victims in recovering the funds)....

See here: https://www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2017-185-0

If this is happening, then its good news after all. Going after them is all that matter and also sending a message to those who have the intention that SEC is  watching them as there is no where to hide. Its obvious that they had scam intention from the beginning its a different thing not to raise up to expectations then return funds to the owner. But lying over the calibre of people brought on board, and the amount raised is an obvious intention to commit fraud and they should pay for it.
736  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: best exchange to sell 10 BTC on: October 01, 2017, 01:54:59 PM
Virtually every reputable sites that have the option of withdrawal using fiat can make this option available without too much difficulty. 10btc is a whole lot of money but mere looking at various orders on the market if exchange platforms will show its just a piece of what others are ordering without even blinking an eye over it. I wouldn't want to transact such amount of deal offline especially not with a stranger on localbitcoin.
737  Economy / Services / Re: Which One Should I join ? on: October 01, 2017, 01:15:14 PM
Hello Guys,
ProGamerJojo here.

I want to join any signature campaign.  Can anyone suggest me which one should I join ?

Thanks For Reading this and Helping me out.

Regards,
ProGamerJojo

@op I will be a little bit harsh, because if you can be a full member with that number of posts and activity, you are still not sure of which campaign to join, its shows either this is not your account or you have not been reading because a newbie who joined would know how to go about things even before attaining Jr Member rank not to talk of a full member rank individual.
738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if another altcoin surpasses BTC in value? on: October 01, 2017, 11:58:54 AM
Instead of we assuming what will happen, I think its better we all wait till that time to know what we will happen the reason is because human beings by default like to predict their behaviour before hand only to behave on the contrary when faced with such scenerio. For those that are saying its not possible, I am sure several would be the first to dump btc in case that should happen for the next best alternative.

740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: After Satoshi Reveals Himself ! Will Bitcoin Price Jump to $30,000 Dollars ? on: October 01, 2017, 11:09:19 AM
I don't see the relevance of the increase in the price of bitcoin to the appearance of Satoshi as that would even plunge the price further because it will then send a message that bitcoin might not really anonymous if Satoshi is back and the moment that happens, it then mean the confidence level will drop which is tantamount to price crashing.
