741  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Transfer keys between USBs on: July 22, 2017, 02:21:40 AM
Why do people keep trying to reinvent the wheel? Most of us quit using air gapped computers for storage of bitcoin private keys when Trezor came on the market back in 2014.

It's a hell of a lot cheaper to use a $5 USB than a $100 trezor when they can accomplish the same thing, being no private keys while connected to the internet.
742  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase fees? on: July 17, 2017, 10:15:25 PM

That's exactly how it works in every service yes. It's impossible to have +300$ as fees logically. Just as a tip, It's early a little bit but make sure to move your coins out of Coinbase before 1st August.

Thanks everyone for the help.

But now tp address the quote. I'll get my coins out of coinbase, but the article below seems to think that even moving them to a wallet may not be enough. Is a standard desktop wallet good enough to shield me from what will happen on august first? Or do I need a hardware wallet?

From the article:

"If you don’t control your keys during a chain split three main things may happen:

    1. Your bitcoin balance will stay the same and you will be able to use that bitcoin token as usual.
    2. Your bitcoin balance will be zero over night since your wallet chose the wrong chain
    3. Your wallet provider will offer you a chance to keep your token balance on both chains or to choose one of them"

Controlling your own private keys only means you have access to your private keys. You don't need a hardware wallet. Mycelium, Bitcoin core, electrum, armory, and any other desktop or most android wallets will let you have access to your private keys. Don't keep your coins on coinbase, Xapo, blockchain.info or any Web wallet or exchange.
743  Economy / Service Discussion / What the hell is going on with C-Cex??? on: July 17, 2017, 10:11:51 PM
First thing I get in my email this morning is that my C-Cex password has been changed. I've never used C-Cex before so who cares. I went to see if maybe I signed up way back in the day so I reset my password again. The brand new password won't work. I tried resetting it again. It doesn't work. I try to open a ticket and it says the captcha is wrong. I try to do anything and the website is down for "5-7 minutes of maintenance" (which so far has lasted 10hours.).

What the hell am I supposed to do now? I just want them to close my (non existent) account so they don't get screwed over from some hacker. I have nothing to lose there so I really don't care. I'd just rather not get these emails every single time their crappy exchange gets hacked. It seems to be every 3-6 months I get another email.

I have a secure system and I'm not getting hacked so I know C-Cex is getting hacked. My password was very long and random and never reused. I'd appreciate if anyone knows how I can get my account closed without opening a ticket since even that doesn't work on their site lol.
744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy more bitcoin or wait for August 1st? on: July 16, 2017, 02:26:14 AM
If you're looking to buy then it looks like waiting will be your best option. I wouldn't have predicted this a few months ago but people are uncertain so I guess I understand it.
745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do Banks fear cryptocurrency on: July 16, 2017, 02:24:12 AM
Lol people are always afraid of new things even if it'll make their lives easier or better. So many inventions weren't stifled because it was going to get rid of current jobs or someone rich was going to lose their income. In this case it is someone rich fearing losing their income.
746  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin value prediction end of July on: July 16, 2017, 02:19:28 AM
since bitcoin price is going down really fast, leading me used predict 1800~2000, to predict ~1400. why the people fear about the BIP148 though? did they fear about the funds being lost forever after some of the hard fork about the core? Huh

Most of the market doesn't understand the fundamentals of bitcoin ( sad but true) so they just sell and stop taking a risk because it's easier. Plus if the price is already down they fear losing more.

I think the bottom will be 1800-1900 then we'll see a huge pump after August first.
747  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin value prediction end of July on: July 15, 2017, 11:17:09 PM
Doesn't matter. If the price is lower, I'm buying a decent amount of bitcoins, if it's higher HODL. Why are you even here if you don't believe in bitcoin for the long term?
748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin finally legal in India on: July 15, 2017, 11:12:10 PM
Did they finalize things,i just hear rumors that so and so will be implemented and the final news i heard is that they are planning to charge a tax for bitcoin like they do with gold and if that is the case the government will benefit but there wont be much benefit for the bitcoin users.

That's exactly what Australia and Japan weren't getting rid of so if that's really the case then India is well behind on their laws.
749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cause of Bitcoin Drop (7/14/2017) on: July 15, 2017, 07:07:18 PM
Almost all altcoins jumped with bitcoin, a lot coins had raised 5-50x just this year, its normal that all those money is returning to bitcoin, since all coins are traded against bitcoin, and it wont change, market is speculating some possible cenarios, in the end bitcoin will be stronger.

There are a few altcoins that will stay strong as they have large followings but the ones with small followings will just collapse back to a few satoshis where they came from. There were lots of pump and dumps happening in may/june and this is a major correction for the whole market.
750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people are holding Bitcoin? on: July 15, 2017, 06:57:29 PM
What makes people compel to hold the bitcoin in this critical situation? What are they waiting for? Any good reason?

Oh shit, a 15% dip is now critical hahaha. What the hell? How new are you? Maybe you should move that chart back to like 2015. See? We're doing pretty damn good. If you don't understand that and bought @ 3k then you're pretty slow now aren't you?
751  Economy / Speculation / Re: WHEN will BTC rise again and WHY? on: July 15, 2017, 06:42:15 PM
If you've really been watching Bitcoin market since 150$/BTC you should know that current happening are very similar to what happened in 2013 when BTC reached $1000 and then promptly crashed in value.

Just like you now people were declaring it dead, yet it rose back up and proceeded to reach its current all time high, Progress will never be linear, it will have spikes.

Although I must agree that at some point Bitcoin should stabilize and stop rising in value, I doubt that it will happen any time soon.

The crash was more sudden though wasn't it? The rise certainly was. I wasn't around then but from what I can see from charts it was pure market manipulation at play. Not enough people knew about bitcoins for them to be worth $1300 at that time. The market cap was just unsustainable. It's not the same this time, because we grew even further plus more people are into bitcoins plus there's a massive buy wall everywhere!
752  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Always Bitcoin? on: July 15, 2017, 06:38:59 PM
I still do not understand the current obsession with regulating Bitcoin. They claim it's to help put an end to online money laundering and other cyber crimes but why aren't they equally obsessed about Fiat?

They are. Do you know how many billions are spent on making sure people spend their money legally? It's disgusting. Obviously I don't want to be funding a terrorist, but I'm not funding anyone here. This is bitcoin. You fund yourself and no bank can tell you otherwise.
753  Economy / Speculation / Re: What i've learned from bitcoin since 2014 on: July 15, 2017, 06:36:19 PM

BTC vs S&P US Stocks vs Gold vs US Bonds

Hahaha a picture is worth 1000 words. What say you OP? Oh no, we're still only 100s of percentages higher than literally anything else out there. What ever will I do?! What's all the FUD about? Are you promoting an altcoin or you just want to buy some cheap coins? You aren't doing this because you don't believe in bitcoins anymore, because that would just be a waste of time.
754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin dead... on: July 15, 2017, 01:41:06 PM
I ve been in crypto for 5 years now. You know how many frustrated idiots like this OP I ve seen over the years? Gazillions!

So fuck you OP and your stupid thread.

Here here. Although you've got to give him some credit with his absolutely amazing analysis. What a genius.

When will the dead cat bounce be oh wise one? At $25 or $1?

@OP where did you learn English? They should be lobotomized.
755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: lock time?? on: July 15, 2017, 01:35:50 PM
What wallet are you using? I've never seen this before and don't really understand what it would be about.

Oh here we go

Quote
Locktime means the transaction may only be accepted by miners until the blockheight indicated in that field has been exceeded.

Since the locktime field indicated 419382 and currently the latest blockheight as of 12th July 2016 1108 (AEST) is 420352 the transaction has now been accepted by the network and confirmation will follow very soon.

756  Economy / Speculation / Re: Still Believing That Bitcoin Can Rise High? on: July 15, 2017, 03:39:22 AM
Ya... you need to look long term. Who cares how far we've up today vs yesterday or last week. That's just day to day volatility. What we should really look at is the past 5 years. Bitcoin is performing extremely well, even after a major crash.
757  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has gambling affected your life in a good way? on: July 15, 2017, 03:37:01 AM
If gambling has effected your life positively or negatively you have a gambling problem. If you think you are earning profit but you keep gambling, you're going to lose it all.
758  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Photos: Life inside of China’s massive and remote bitcoin mines on: July 15, 2017, 03:35:41 AM
Until now, I don't understand why the Chinese are more interested in bitcoin then other people. We need to see more of these mining farms around the world or It will be just a matter of time until we see centralization If we could call it that way. (This is valid for exchanges as well)

There are farms around the world. People just like to fixate on Chinese exchanges for some reason. I guess because they are the biggest. There are also lots in North America and Europe but they get a lot less exposure.
759  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is poloniex scamming customers on: July 15, 2017, 03:33:28 AM
Polonix is a good exchanger, I trade there almost half year without fetching any kind of issue.

I saw some people, who reported against polonix.
But theirs issues is not valid its temporary.

That's all that I see. People bitching then you never hear from them again. Did you want me to spell out why? They ditched their throwaway account because their issue was resolved. It takes a hell of a lot longer now though.
760  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Price fluctuation on: July 15, 2017, 03:12:49 AM
What a vague question. Shouldn't you start with "What is money?" Lol. No but seriously, supply and demand. If there is more demand then supply, the price goes up, vice versa and the price goes down. Then where they meet in the middle is your price you see on an exchange.
