1201  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: I BUY ALL BITCOINS!! on: March 19, 2017, 03:00:47 AM
Lol this guy is back. Look at how the kid spammed his crap all over my trust wall. He's sketchy as fuck. He wanted me to basically grab some documents from his lawyer in Canada. That was the sketchy job offering. He claims that he's out of the country though of course.

Since you're Canadian you'll be paying with CAD right? Not some random ass poor country that can't speak English properly country right?
1202  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: 2.9 BTC possibly lost on: March 19, 2017, 02:55:16 AM

Yes, he's stop using the drive to decide what the best option may be. As far as the erase method he used, he remembers setting it to 'wipe' the drive. He said he set it to the least number of passes.
.
I am not sure if there is much hope, If he cannot recover these coins. Do they just remain locked in the blockchain forever?

Yes, they will stay in the same address forever. He will still be able to see them in his address on a block explorer, but he'll never be able to move them again.

If he set dban to do the least number of passes it probably overwrote his data with zeros. His files are probably unrecoverable, but it might be worth him asking a data recovery company for their opinion. Overwriting with zeros is the least aggressive scrubbing method dban uses.

Exactly. It can't hurt to ask. The problem is the price to even look into this is probably going to be a lot of money with no guarantees. Get a few different opinions and a few different quotes.

I wish your friend good luck. Never say never!
1203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In bitcoin 5 years now, still feel like i'm newbie, i'm not, i'm old school on: March 19, 2017, 02:51:05 AM
I sometimes feel that i came late to bitcoin because i got in during 2012, then i was late to the show, but now i am like old skool.  Have seen all this shit before and am like ,,,, "what ever"  trust me me newbies , or dont its the bitcoin way.  we have been down this road before, just dont sell or trade into alts you will regret it.  Smiley  learn from my mistakes.   Grin

Finally an old school guy just telling us what we need to hear. You're definitely not a newbie by any means.

Alts are always going to seem attractive in the short run but in the long run bitcoins are the biggest and best cryptocurrency there is. Hodl tight and never sell.
1204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was the SEC right after all? on: March 19, 2017, 02:48:57 AM
The SEC didn't say the price wasn't stable or whatever stupid shit you're trying to say. It was declined because bitcoins aren't regulated by a government agency. A quick google would have gotten you that answer.
1205  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Unlimited rapidly taking over on: March 19, 2017, 02:44:59 AM
Well that's what we are seeing right now.
Going down really hard now, about to drop under $1000 in just a few minutes.
That is one of your few correct bearish calls. Well done!
Let's see, if you increase your accuracy over longer period of time.

Lol he was finally right. That's pretty terrible odds. More blocksize debate threads and less stupid FUD threads kwukduck. We need to hear the real story not your end view.
1206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the split and when? on: March 19, 2017, 02:37:25 AM
The problem is 1mb is not enough to hold enough transactions anymore. Bitcoin unlimited wants to push the limit to (at least) 2mb and implement other things too. A hark fork is just when you now have two chains instead of one aka: two coins instead of one. If you own bitcoins now and there's is a fork you'll own both coins. No need to switch back and forth or anything. You could sell your coins from one side and buy the coins from the other side of you really believed in it more though.
1207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The man does have a point - Roger Ver on: March 19, 2017, 01:36:43 AM
He's risking bitcoin's stability & credibility without quantifying what type of real world gains a 2MB block size could yield.

That's like buying a refrigerator without measuring to see if it fits in your kitchen 1st.

This guy is supposed to be smart?   Undecided

no....that's like saying "don't give this guy who's choking on a piece of bread the heimlich maneuver...we really don't know what kind of 'real world gain's it might have to make sure he's able to keep breathing.

Your analogies are both too basic. It's more like a complex medical procedure that's under changes. Some people believe the old way is better with a 90% success rate but the new way promises 99.99%. The problem is no one knows the real side affects until the new complex procedure has started.
1208  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is going to be good for Bitcoin some day, HODL on: March 18, 2017, 09:21:08 PM
This is the natural progression that BTC will have to go through to grow.  Its the way it was designed.

And ETH and DASH and all the other crap would be so lucky if they had to deal with this one day.  This being an issue for Bitcoin is a sign of success.

HODL!  Who ever thought this shit would be easy?

too many people here treat it like a computer program when they're theorising but in reality the money thing comes first by a country mile. the most important thing with money is faith, even more so with something that's backed only by mutual agreement.

disagreement is there but it's on the fringes while the actual subject hums along just fine. if that disagreement actually screws with the day to day operation of all this then i don't think there's any coming back from it.

Yep, either way you and I agree that bitcoins are money (a few other people here agree it seems) so there will always be value. The only risk is that the value is higher or lower.

A fork wouldn't be the end of the world so I'm not sure why people think it's such a big deal that they need to sell bitcoins.
1209  Economy / Economics / Re: So easy to make people panic. right? on: March 18, 2017, 09:16:47 PM
Anyone can fork it anytime they want assuming they get 50% of nodes on board. Whether that fork takes off or not is another story.

What's the big deal with forks anyway? Who cares? You now own two different types of bitcoins. You don't choose one and not the other. You get both.
1210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: PLEASE HELP.. I sent a transaction with a 2.5 BTC transaction fee on: March 18, 2017, 03:09:53 AM
Come back OP! We want to hear about how happy you are to get your massive mistake of a fee sent back to you!
1211  Economy / Services / Re: Anyone good on the phone? WTH sales people on: March 18, 2017, 03:08:08 AM
Selling in English? What are you selling? Sales with existing customers? Former customers? Cold calls? Do we have to stick to a script? Lots more questions to come after these are answered.
1212  Economy / Speculation / Re: price from -$50 in an hour - heart attack on: March 18, 2017, 03:03:16 AM
I actually ended up spending some bitcoin before this latest drop, so I'm not too shaken by it.  I keep telling myself I'm not going to spend anymore, but then I end up doing it anyway.  Oh well.

C'mon.  +/- $50 in an hour is like one of those kiddie rides at the carnival.  It's not even close to the roller coaster.

Lol! Ya the other day when the ETF was declined bitcoins dropped ~$200 in what, half a second!? Lol. It's not a big deal. If you can't handle the ups and downs then you'll never be a whale!! Go back to fiat where you're guaranteed to lose a nice steady 3% a year of buying power Smiley
1213  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the selloff? on: March 18, 2017, 02:58:54 AM

BTC plunging down to $1134 and going lower by the minute.

I think it's due to the threat of BTC hard fork, but hopefully this does not happen.

hmmm, then people are more stupid then i thought. we are far away from fork and even if a fork would happen then  BTC owners would get same amount on the new chain.  based on this new buyers should come and buy bitcoin and the price should go up . again , most people are not the smartest tool in the shed

Oh no! I'm going to have a gold coin + a cloned gold coin! What should I do!? Sell sell sell.

People just don't get what a hard fork is so they bail. Nor my problem. I'll be looking down on them when I'm living on the moon.
1214  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-03-18]Bitcoin Exchanges Unveil Hard Fork Contingency Plan on: March 18, 2017, 02:52:17 AM
Well crap. That makes me take this hard fork business a lot more seriously. I see the exchanges I use listed in this statement. A hard fork would be interesting so I'm all for it. May the better blockchain win.
1215  Economy / Speculation / Re: price from -$50 in an hour - heart attack on: March 18, 2017, 02:48:16 AM
We're down a lot more than I was hoping when I checked my wallet. Damn. Oh well, I say don't worry about the downs because the ups will always be coming back. Lots of hype is going on about a hard fork. I doubt that'll happen anytime soon. Alts are also going up. Ugh. Missed that train.
1216  Economy / Speculation / Re: It going to hurt..! drop back under 1000$ on: March 17, 2017, 02:41:37 AM
Look at dash, eth, eth classic, they're all skyrocketing. There's just a lot of new players coming into the market trying to make a buck. That's what most of our price rises are from. Don't worry about the stupid OPs doomsday alarm. It didn't and won't happen.
1217  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why bitcoin price drop few hours ago? on: March 17, 2017, 02:29:26 AM
BU screwed up big time and people are kind of all over the place with how to feel about it. There's no hard fork coming without some logical solutions coming out. BU is over though. All of this uncertainty and doubt caused people to go to other alts or fiats.
1218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: February was Record Month for Bitcoin Gambling on: March 17, 2017, 02:24:24 AM
Wow while the price was rising like crazy people obviously felt they could gamble more. When your money is worth 130% of what you got it for I guess a 1% house edge really doesn't make a difference at all!
1219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cup of Coffee on: March 17, 2017, 01:41:21 AM
Bitcoin was always supposed to be digital cash.  It even says so in the original white paper title.

Where did this myth start that we need to 'let this go'?

No one uses cash at starbucks. It's all phones, credit cards and debit cards. Try and buy a beer on a plane. They don't take cash. So saying it's like digital cash is a little outdated at this point. We're dealing with digital gold.
1220  Other / Meta / Re: BitCoinTalk.PW (Bitcointalk Proxy Website) on: March 17, 2017, 01:39:20 AM
I visit that site and I see my exact post their.
Anyone tried to login their using bitcointalk.org account?
But not recommend.

Lol no do not try your password there!!!

Maybe it's just an archive basically? If you delete posts are they still on that website or are they updated in real time? That's really strange. I wonder who owns it. Anyone have the whois? I never know where to find them.
