1501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: (RE: Exchanges hack) Let's talk about a solution before instead of crying after on: December 30, 2016, 05:09:33 PM
imagine old concept is depositing funds into your wifes account so that when you want to pay for something you need to ask her and its her that makes the payment. but she decides to run away with the milkman and your cash

imagine a new concept of a joint account where your wife cant run off with the milkman with all your funds, because she needs your authorisation to make payments aswell as hers.

1st of all, fuck milkmen. I mean seriously. They were obviously screwing everyone's mom. No wonder they don't exist anymore. Too many love-childs.

Anyways, with bank accounts you can have anyone can sign (ie 1 signature required) or everyone must sign (ie everyone on the account must sign). This is both in personal and business banking. Most joint accounts are probably anyone can sign though, but you do have a choice. It's definitely not a new concept.
Imagine this:

"Johnson!" Says your boss.

"Yessir!" You reply.

"I just got this $1,000,000 cheque that I need you to deposit into our business account that you're a signer for."

"I'll get on it right away sir!"

Deposits money. Withdraws $1million. Lives happy ever after in the Cayman Islands.

There's a reason this doesn't happen literally every minute of every day.
1502  Economy / Services / Re: Who's the richest Cryptocurrency trader in this thread? Who has the most BTC? on: December 30, 2016, 03:42:38 PM
Having the most btc doesn't make you a good trader just an fyi. Making 2% a day even with a tanking market is a good trader. You're going about this all the wrong way.
1503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: (RE: Exchanges hack) Let's talk about a solution before instead of crying after on: December 30, 2016, 02:40:55 PM
Idiots keep money on exchanges and idiots read newspapers about 'bitcoins being hacked' so idiots have to use fiat made by other idiots because other idiots will keep those idiots' money in a vault for them.

If you ever keep anything on an exchange you're just dangling some raw meat in the ocean. Good luck with that.
1504  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 0.5 BTC GIVEAWAY! TO END THE YEAR IN STYLE :D on: December 30, 2016, 02:33:50 PM
Wow, that's extremely generous of you! This is a huge amount for anyone to win and would definitely keep them around the community forever haha. If I win please send the half bitcoin to 18HApQHXg7qFEz3SnCgTf6nGd189s8LZ1o
1505  Economy / Services / Re: [FOR HIRE] Escrow for cryptocurrency related trades on: December 30, 2016, 04:16:51 AM
Please do ask me any question that comes into your mind, i would love to answer them Smiley

What deals have you successfully escrowed so far to show that we can trust you?

Why do you want to be an escrow?

And of course, who the hell are you? I've never seen you around and you have virtually no reputation to uphold here. You have nothing to lose at all if you ran with some funds.

Why should I trust you?

I suggest deleting this ASAP before you get a nasty red tag on your account.
1506  Economy / Economics / Re: How a cashless society could kill Bitcoin. on: December 30, 2016, 04:12:18 AM
A cashless society could kill bitcoin because we will see fast and easy to use systems that the mainstream will love. Just looking at success stories like Venmo, AliPay and WeChatPay and many others show how it could be done right. Thousands of transactions in an app that everybody loves, centralized secured so that nobody will ever lose its funds naturally, low fees and many other benefits.

How could a slow Bitcoin, that is semi anoym, with bad user experience, high risk of losing brainkey, high risk of getting hacked personally compete with such a system? Bitcoin and other digital currencies have to improve dramatically to provide a real alternative to the mainstream. We still have a long way ahead and if I look at the Chinese FinTech markets, Bitcoin is losing to the mainstream rapidly.

Lol what the hell? Stick with fiat because clearly you aren't seeing the basics of bitcoins to be beneficial. Slow? Transactions are instant. Fail. High risk of getting hacked? Then you're too dumb to google how to securely make a paper wallet or too cheap to buy a hardware wallet.

Bitcoins aren't going to be the only currency someone uses but that doesn't mean it can't be mainstream.

I use bitcoin to store wealth and rarely use it for transactions. IMO that's where bitcoins are a win.
1507  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Best Buy gift cards on: December 26, 2016, 11:32:31 PM
No, they aren't.

And your proof is....? A receipt? You showing the last 4 digits on the receipt and showing the last 4 digits on your card you purchased it with?  Or better yet a receipt showing you paid cash for it???
1508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Everyone already knows about bitcoin" no.. no they do not.. on: December 26, 2016, 11:25:24 PM
So true. I would say that only 1% of the population of the world knows bitcoins. If it is not 1% probably below 5%. This is probably why there aren't many companies or establishment accepts bitcoins as of yet. However, I believe in bitcoin and maybe in the near future it would be accepted by more people. If it does we would see more people using it in everyday lives.

One of the main reason, in my opinion, why not many company adopt bitcoin because of their concern on the probable issue they will encounter in the future if the use Bitcoin or accept bitcoin in their company.  Big company have their own system and does not automatically accept or make any changes.  They need to deal with it carefully because the future of their company rely in it.  They are always on the legalities of things to protect their reputation.

This has never been a reason (let alone a main reason)

It seems that you refer to an accounting system (or something to that tune) which may be crafted for a specific currency (say, the US dollar). But that's outright bullshit. Could you imagine that some company would refuse from profits they could obtain by trading internationally just because "their own system" didn't "automatically accept" or allow "any changes"? If Bitcoin is legal and it is legal to trade with it, ultimately, it is only a matter of profit margins and time when companies run for these profits

This is true. I would accept Zimbabwean dollars for my sales if it were profitable. But I don't have anything they want and I dont sell enough to be bothered how to use it (which is a similar mentality to a lot of businesses unfortunately).
1509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Inevitability of Million Dollar Bitcoin on: December 26, 2016, 11:02:02 PM
The notion of million-dollar Bitcoin may seem damnably unrealistic, but consider that the cryptocurrency that was trading for pennies in 2009 has now soared to almost $1000 USD. From a dollar to a thousand dollars is a 1000% rise. From a thousand dollars (its current price) to 1 million dollars is also a 1000% rise. Bitcoin has a proven track record of this magnitude of appreciation.

From a dollar to a thousand dollars is not a 1000% rise, it is a 1000x rise (more like a 100,000% rise)
The problem with that analogy is that you are ignoring the base effect. In percentage terms, it is very easy to increase by a large percentage when the initial value is small. There will be hundreds of alt coins which would have increased by the same percentage. But as the market capitalization grows, repeating the increase becomes very difficult.

This. Well put. Having a company grow from a $1000 worth to $1,000,000 can happen, but from $1,000,000 to $1,000,000,000 is a whole other story. That's the size of some industries themselves so if you don't have a monopoly (which bitcoin doesn't) you'll have a hard time repeating that 100,000% rise.
1510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's freaking 2017 - Do you own 1 BTC? on: December 26, 2016, 10:55:35 PM
I'm not going to announce how much in bitcoins I hold but it's enough to get me out of a bind if I really needed it. I'd rather not use them for many decades in hopes of higher returns on investment.

Edit- Oh ya and it's still 2016. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

The survey means most of the people on this forum are not true believers.

Um, in my books a majority (55% as of right now) is 'most of' so... you're wrong. Also, 1btc might be a years wages to some people on this forum in their country. So that would be nearly impossible for someone to save in this short amount of time if they aren't an early adopter.
1511  Economy / Speculation / Re: I sold half of my COLD STORAGE coins on: December 26, 2016, 10:45:30 PM
OP seems to be an early adopter of bitcoin. Only those people got the chance of buying bitcoin at that low price. If he is an early adopter sure he holds a huge volume of bitcoin compared to the users who were into bitcoin recently or few years back.

He pretends to be, but he's really just a dumb troll. Show the signed message of the address that was holding g the bitcoins or gtfo op.
1512  Economy / Auctions / Re: sr member selling cheap with Potential Activity 420 on: December 26, 2016, 07:57:18 PM
First of all, I suggest people don't buy accounts because there's no legitimate reason for doing so, but also if the op can't sign a message from an old staked address it is probably a hacked account.

Can you sign an old message or not op?
1513  Economy / Speculation / Re: I sold half of my coins on: December 25, 2016, 11:02:25 PM
They were bought between 5 and 30 USD.

Sell when everyone is greedy!
I smell another dump.  Daily RSI  should drop more.

Guess what!  I opened short position.  AGAIN.

Added some more shorts.

BULL trend IS OVER. Mark my words.

It will.  Price will drop.

I told you so. Sell we are going under 700$

+1

Fucking bitch ass time wasting OP

Hahaha he doesn't own bitcoins. He definitely didn't buy at $5.

Would you mind signing an address where these coins were sold from you bullshitting kwukducker?
1514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MTGOX collapsed organised with the MSM and Governments around the world on: December 25, 2016, 10:59:53 PM
When Mt. Gox fell on it's face it was not a surprise to everyone. We are talking about a site that was set up to trade magic the gathering cards, hence the name. When bitcoin exploded they found themselves trying to protect millions in assets. Something beyond their capability. It was not pressure from a government or a big bank. It was wild speculation, sometimes with bots, combined with low security.  It was just a matter of time.

Of course this has nothing to so with bitcoin. If your bank were robbed you would not blame the money that was taken.

Exactly!!! Thank you!! I hate when you read on these huge websites or you hear from idiots on the street that the bitcoin bank got hacked. You know that's an oxymoron right moron!? Bitcoins don't need banks. Be your own bank. If an EXCHANGE is hacked, that's like a money exchanger getting hacked or robbed. It's not the currency's issue.
1515  Economy / Digital goods / Re: selling any gc 35% on: December 25, 2016, 06:06:23 PM
whats the warranty?

The warranty is when the police show up to your house you're the one who gets arrested for using a stolen credit card to purchase merchandise and have it shipped to your address. It's a lifetime warranty. Have fun with that.
1516  Other / Meta / Re: wtf? Weird censorship here. on: December 24, 2016, 10:35:31 PM
It was just an idiot trying to scare people.

He was trying to get people to understand that it doesn't matter if the key is there.  Similar to showing that stupid picture of the sun and talking about molecules.

Denying that the key in on the site is just incorrect.  RawDog wasn't scaring people, he was educating people about infinity.

To me it looks like the mods are idiots.  To them, dumber is better somehow.

1. It's not infinity. Just because your little pea brain can't understand 2^256 doesn't make it infinity. It's highly highly highly improbable that there would ever be a collision. It's never going to happen in our lifetime, but that doesn't mean in 4 quadrillion years there wont be a collision ever. (I'm sure bitcoins will last at least 5 quadrillion year, right guys?).

2. The website doesn't list all possible keys. So your logic is, of course, as usual, flawed.

Did I miss anything?

Edit:
But don't worry, the signature spammers will always find a thread to spam their half English have gibberish posts on.

Why lock this thread?: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1527225.0

That is a really interesting thread.  Despite those being real keys, many, many people keep insisting they are not.  RawDog was schooling them about how private keys work.  So, he is a rude obnoxious idiot with no class whatever, he was actually helping many to gain a better understanding of the network.  Anything that improves the understanding of things like private keys should not be banned from this site.

What is the objective of the administration in doing this kind of censorship?  What exactly are they trying to hide?

Normally they are turning the internet off, to save peoples lifes. How is time. We cann all do that. Tuen your internet off. Und stay offline . The only thrat can help now. The future off the planet in in your hand.

And stopp this man!

Thanks for stopping by dipshit. Well fucking put. Could you write that in English for me now?

Maybe you should turn your internet off to save some lifes.
1517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks accepting bitcoin on: December 24, 2016, 06:16:50 PM
So Starbucks is indirectly accepting bitcoins now? Is this worldwide? Does Starbucks even have anything to do with this or is it just a work around?
1518  Other / Meta / Re: wtf? Weird censorship here. on: December 24, 2016, 06:12:33 PM
It was just an idiot trying to scare people. It was also months old and served absolutely no purpose. Thats why it's gone, because obviously the mods agree with me.

Also, this should be in Meta.
1519  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will "Red Envelopes" in china move the price in January 2017? on: December 24, 2016, 05:42:50 PM
Saturday, January 28, 2017 starts a new year in China. It will be a year of the rooster and, as is the custom, there will be gifts of red envelopes containing cash. Last year Chinese bitcoin enthusiasts were giving away envelopes that were actually paper wallets. I wonder if this trend is growing?

Are you Chinese by nationality or culture? Are you or friends giving away "red wallets" this new year? It seems such a natural fit, and it seems that BTC is growing in China. Or am I way off?

I know some Chinese people and they didn't feel like a paper wallet was "lucky" when I spoke about it with them last year. The whole idea is to give physical cash to people (in the older generations anyways) so I know there is some non-believers out there that won't want to give bitcoin paper wallets just for that sole reason. They said it's the same as writing a cheque, it's just not lucky the way cash supposedly is.
That's interesting. So it doesn't carry the same good fortune or is less personal than traditional cash? That makes sense. I suppose if you were already into bitcoin and considered it real money you might be fine with receiving it. But you may not give it to someone who is new to the concept. Thanks for responding!

I think it's totally a matter of opinion and how superstitious they are too. If someone says "I've never been in a car accident and I never will be knock on wood" and knocks on some fake wooden desk, you know they don't really care if it's real wood or not. A superstitious person will run and look for a real piece of wood and knock on it an ODD amount of times or you just jinxed yourself. Knocked on some real wood but did it twice? I hope you're walking home... Lol.

Personally, I believe it's all a bunch of hooey (did I spell that right?Wink) but everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and culture. Hopefully the ones that believe bitcoins are real money will be happy to hand these out.

Your account is hacked, right?

If you already left negative trust why should i answer someone like you ?

That's a confirmed hacked account right there folks. If he wasn't hacked obviously he would have said "my account wasn't hacked". He just avoided the question instead. Classic aversion.
