1561  Economy / Speculation / Re: If we didnt had idiots blocking segwit we would be sittting on 4 figures by now on: December 16, 2016, 11:40:47 PM
Forget Segwit, Swgwit dont move markets, marketmakers too.

[i m g]https://i.imgflip.com/1fp0j1.jpg[/img]via Imgflip Meme Generator

that was obviously because of halving hype. the second block reward halving happened in July (2016-07-09 to be exact) and before that there were a long period of FUD to keep price down around $450 and accumulate and then the big pump came, if we want to see that again we need something as big as halving and if not the price will continue rising slowly as before.

You are misguided son. Never dismiss the power of the marketmaker aiming for new highs. The force is strong and very hard to fight. Let's see what happens in 20 days from now.

/u/RemindMe! 20 days Grin

Almost 5 days in. 15 days to go.  Wink

Ya but 1000 isn't going to happen this month. Look at the huge resistance from the tiny raise we had these past few days! I wouldn't count on it until segwit is in full force.
1562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: San Francisco Metro System Hacked with Ransomware [Paid $70,000 in Bitcoin] on: December 16, 2016, 11:15:53 PM

Oh, sorry. I didn't realize you were from America. You're response is perfectly understandable then.

I loves amuricuh where the moto is if it ain't deep fried I ain't not throwing that down my gullet uhhhhhyuckhyuck. Pass the *belch* beer kay hun? I can't get up OUTTA my lazyboy when Springer's on. You know that. or something similar.
But seriously wtf. Ya let's have a real life purge right? That should resolve everything.

1563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it time someone defined "The Blockchain"? on: December 16, 2016, 11:03:25 PM
"blockchain" isn't really a technology, it's just a simple sequential file with linking between adjacent records.

Have you looked in your Bitcoin core data folder? It is not implemented as a sequential file there.

But I do agree that people should realize that Bitcoin is not synonymous as Blockchain. This is obvious from the fact that shit coins also use blockchain technology.

Well clearly any shitcoin could even fork from bitcoins if they wanted to. That's even a bitcoin blockchain in a sense.
...
here is mine

blockchain is not an end product. its just an engine
btc is a car that uses an engine. and runs on a open road network
hyperledger is a cross-state lines train that uses an engine. and runs on a corporate rail network

My issue is I think that the "blockchain" is an end product only designed to facilitate a specific need.
That need is what Bitcoin wanted to originally do and currently does, which is many different things.
Currently, people are attempting to place "blockchain" into things that don't have a need.
This has led to the expansion of the definition of "blockchain", IMO.

Ultimately, I don't think there is any purpose to use "blockchain" outside of unregulatable things.

Like what? I'm not following what you're saying blockchains are being used for. All I've seen is banks making regulated & centralized blockchains for their currency they already have.

Anything you can imagine.
I have heard of people wanting to do deeds and wills, to produce, package deliveries, jewelry, etc.
You could "blockchain" anything you wanted in theory, doesn't need to be only currency.

"Well our prenup on the blockchain says she doesn't get half of my shit or visiting rights with my dog your Honor."

"That checks out. I see it right here on May 5th, 2014 at block 150385. Next time use paper lady! You can lose that stuff!
Court adjourned!"

"Delivery for... I C Weiner? Aw crud. I'll see who added this to the Blockchain and ream them out..."

I guess people can do what they want with the open source blockchain lol.
1564  Economy / Speculation / Re: A lot of salty people right now on: December 16, 2016, 10:54:14 PM
Seems like there haven't been all that many of them lately, except for Kwuckduck and that stupid bot that keeps creating accounts with FUD.  People love to jump out of the woodwork when bitcoin is falling and tell you they told you so.  I mean now that it's rising they don't really have much to say, do they?

Lol I fucking love that stupid bot. Who the fuck has the time to give a shit about FUDing against a currency!? What the hell is going on with this world? Fuck pesos. Not any specific country's pesos. Just all pesos. Fuck them all. Now I'm going to make a bot that spams this on different forums where people use pesos. That seems logical right?/s

1566  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: how can i safe from scamer members.. on: December 16, 2016, 10:47:19 PM
The only solution for this is we should not deal with anyone
we didnt know. Scammers are everywhere, there looking
for people they can easily scam with. This way we can avoid
ahd were safe from scammers.

What the hell? How many people use bitcoins with people they know? No one I know uses bitcoins unless I gave them some and explained it to them haha. Everyone else is just online. Also, bitcoins are magic internet money (lol) so how many people can you really know over the internet!?
1567  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: WHY DO I NEED I.D. AND PROOF OF ADDRESS ?? on: December 16, 2016, 10:43:40 PM
HUH ?
what ?

"Companies have to comply with 'know your customer' and 'anti money laundering' laws to be able to conduct business."

last time i checked, its mainly banks that have to do that... so is bitcoin a banking product ?

i went to my local pawnshop and bought some items (including silver) and they didnt ask for i.d. .

i just dont get it ..... anybody else got input on this topic ?
I had to provide all that stuff for Circle and Coinbase.  It's to be expected--the gov't requires it, as has been pointed out.

As far as your local pawn shop goes, just try to sell something there.  You will most likely be asked for ID.  Why?  To prevent shenanigans.  Or at least to catch shenanigan-doers.  They have to comply with laws too.  You could still buy bitcoin anonymously, but it takes a lot more effort.

Everything is regulated by your own county so trying to buy them anonymousLy means you'd better have some cash and be able to find someone near you that wants to offload some bitcoins.

Aml/kyc is the reason why you have to give them ID. And bitcoins aren't anonymous, they're pseudonymous. Now educate everyone around you with that info too.
1568  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 50 Dollars a Day! on: December 16, 2016, 10:20:49 PM
I would bet that if I got a job by the end of the month I could easily make $50 or more a day! Oh or I could be a gambling junky and blow my lifetime savings chasing some $50 I lost months ago.
1569  Economy / Economics / Re: When the dollar collapsed, gold and bitcoin which is the best alternative? on: December 16, 2016, 05:06:10 AM
Huh? Who the hell uses gold as a currency? This isn't ancient Rome. Anyways, bitcoins are finite and are clearly a better option because they aren't so horrible for the environment to mine vs gold. People can spend bitcoins, where the hell can I spend a gold nugget?
1570  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: I want to buy Bitcoin for interac e-transfer on: December 16, 2016, 04:47:46 AM
Try 247exchange or quadrigacx. I think 247exchange only has a $100 credit card option to start with though. Both will need you to be verified w/ id.
1571  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to win gambling with no lose? on: December 16, 2016, 12:57:32 AM
The only way to gamble without losing (ever) is to not gamble. Any other answer is wrong. If you want a 99.99% chance of making a profit you need to make a really really safe bet and once you one ONCE, walk away.
1572  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How Exchanges Work? on: December 16, 2016, 12:56:03 AM
The other answers are kind of meh. They work very similarly to any currency exchange. There's a buy price and a sell price. Bitcoins could be 655 to buy and 635 to sell. The exchange will want to make a profit whether you're buying or selling.

Some people buy, others sell. If more people are buying then selling the price will inherently go up and vice versa.
1573  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Im VERY new to bitcoins on: December 11, 2016, 03:55:54 AM
You would have to sell bitcoins for PayPal which honestly I don't recommend. It's just a bad idea and you'll probably have someone charge back on you and you'll be left with nothing.

To get started DON'T get a web wallet. DO NOT get a Blockchain.info, coinbase, xapo wallet. Try good wallets that don't store your private keys online (private keys are your lifeline to your bitcoins. If someone has your private key they can take your bitcoins at any time).

I recommend you download mycelium, Bitcoin core, electrum, etc. Also google any old bitcoin faucet. You get a few free Satoshis (0.00000001BTC=1satoshi) and start to understand how it works BEFORE you invest any money into it. Just don't expect to make an income off of a faucet. That's not what they're for.

If you're looking to buy bitcoins you'll need to let us know what country you're in. It differs around the world.
1574  Economy / Economics / Re: Italian Banks-Crash is Coming on: December 11, 2016, 03:49:20 AM
The problem is it's not just any one country but on a global scale where these predictions are coming. I've seen the same thing said for America and many other European countries. When will people learn that all fiat is the same!

Whatever happens in 2017 I hope bitcoins go on a wild ride (up Wink)!
1575  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I am the trumptitor on: December 11, 2016, 03:45:57 AM
What the hell did I just read? I think the op supports trump, or hates him. Or enjoys eating bananas. I don't have the slightest clue to be honest. I agree with the Bible too if it says cryptocurrency is the way to go Wink I just can't seem to find the quote...
1576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: San Francisco Metro System Hacked with Ransomware [Paid $70,000 in Bitcoin] on: December 11, 2016, 02:33:33 AM
No idea how you wouldn't notice that everything you need is being encrypted as you go but I guess it hasn't ever happened to me. 70k. Wow. I guess they had them by the proverbial balls eh?
1577  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who controls the Bitcoins? on: December 11, 2016, 02:26:42 AM
I control my Bitcoins and you control your Bitcoins.
And Blockstream controls all of our bitcoins

Lol they kinda sorta control the behind the scenes crap that I don't understand. If you can do better no one is stopping you Smiley. That's the whole idea of open source.

China does have a big influence at the news coins being mined, since the most miners are located at there, but early adopters does have a lot of bitcoins, like Nakamoto, those are the ones that can control in part bitcoin, since its decentralized.

China has a huge influence on mining because of their cheap electricity. Idk wtf you're talking about in the rest of your post though hahaha!
1578  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Skrill now lets you upload money via bitcoin on: December 10, 2016, 11:50:27 PM
This is really old news. I remember they started taking it... I don't even know 2 or maybe even 4 months ago? Either way it's old news but good for the bitcoin price of course!
1579  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining is over on: December 10, 2016, 11:46:16 PM
Holy shit 13cents a KWH!? Your mining was dead long before the S9 became available so why did you even buy it!? Wow! Go to any calculator and it would have told you that!
1580  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin prices could leap to $2000 in 2017? on: December 10, 2016, 11:41:10 PM
Before 2016 what was the price? though I know halving had a part in the price increase but I hope to see a jump from $820 to $960 by the end of 2017.
The price increase is likely to be higher. There are many economic, political and social factors involved with the cryptocurrency market. Just look at the increasing demand in India and China, for example. In addition, there are factors related to improvements in the network, which if they are ready in the coming months, we will see the development of many applications for the Bitcoin network.

India is going to have a huge impact on the bitcoin price in 2017 and the following years. People are so pissed about the 500 and 1000 notes becoming worthless and scrambling to get rid of them asap (or are they worthless yet? I forget the date). $2000 might be a stretch but I do see a new ath coming in 2017. We've had some steady rises which are amazing for long term growth.

Segwit will help with the actually bitcoin community coming together but I highly down anyone will adopt because they just heard of this cool new thing called segregated witness with bitcoin. They'd just say "what the hell is a bitcoin!?"
