761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 25, 2014, 10:27:14 PM
A post mine is completely out of the question in my book.

Jesus. This isn't the USD where the government just tries to solve it's problems by printing more money. I mean wtf.

The only option is to change the emission schedule.

In my book, forcing the devs to abandon Monero for lack of funds is out of the question.  And so is continuing their practice of subsidizing the whales, miners, and everyone else, by working for below-market rates.

A post mine is in some sense a change to the emission schedule.  But the Bootstrap Block would be auctioned off and thus its emission change kind-of happens 'off-chain.'

No matter what, the now-undecided emission schedule must change when a solution for the tail-end is implemented.

All the Sturm und Drang in the universe will not change that simple fact.

What on earth are you talking about. This is an open source voluntary project. XMR is not designed to pay developers. You might as well start talking about poverty in Africa and use that as your argument for a post mine.

The justification for this post mine is simply ludicrous. That's not even why I'm against it. I'm against it because pulling money out of thin air is against EVERYTHING which crypto stands for. Go ahead and kill this coin by making such a foolish move and watch it become the next Vericoin.

I just hope people like me are given advance warning so I can dump my holdings before the shit hits the fan.

The options are change the emission schedule or do nothing. So long as we don't do something retarded like a post mine which will kill the reputation of this coin dead then I don't care what we do out of those options.

This downwards move has been happening for weeks...

Get out now imo.

I hate to be the one that always ask the tough question.

How many shares are there total for the ICO ?

Nice. Tough questions are good. They're almost always the most helpful.

We've not decided that yet, and are consulting on the details of it.

My guess is that there'll be more shares than the amount claimable by holders of XC, or else BTC/fiat/etc. holders won't be able to participate.

The number is not yet determined though.

Imo the only way to gain shares should be through being an XC holder. It will boost the price of XC. Anyone is free to buy XC through btc/fiat.

that's part of my password:

Uhf;lfybyj,zpfy

more I see no reason to write my password

If you've lost all your funds from the account, why wouldn't you share the password?

Unless you're using the password somewhere else or haven't told the complete truth, you have no reason not to give us the password so we can verify the accuracy of your claims.

I agree! We were not (The NHZ team) planning on releasing any info about the team or any development plans, but we had a situation come up, and the community needed to be reassured that no one was jumping ship. We needed to present a unified front and restore confidence in the NHZ community.
On that note, I apologise for any miscommunication or misunderstanding that came as a result of that.
I've been committed to XC's long term success and adoption throughout real world services. This will never change.
We are a strong community, and are building something great.

What situation was that?

Your mathematicians didn't address that rs = qs - csx mod l is also known, where qs is unknown.
qs is unknown (and random) which makes the above equation more or less useless for solving for x, this will be addressed in a later memo.

So sure are we. Subtraction may play differently in modular arithematic. I will wait to see what your memo says.

A single modular linear equation with two unknowns can't be solved. You can't argue or troll with that, it's maths.

So I take it you know fuck all about number theory.

can someone explain wshy BTC price is only 397$  Huh  i saw someone are talking that mintpal rev2 realese will effect XC price, so i can tell that it wont.. you will see, because about final rev2 realese everyone talked the same..

Lots of people have been waiting for the next BTC bubble. But it's been almost a year and it's never happened. I liquidated half of my BTC at $500, not sure what to do with the rest.

I'm holding on to my alt coins though like XC. A solid alt coin with potential can easily triple or more if it gets pumped. For BTC to triple in a week it would take a miracle.

The Cointropolis is gone and is nowhere to be seen recently. As for GoCoin, they posted on twitter they were integrating NXT, but looks like they don't consider this a priority and has other business to do. Guess they can be written off as a failed annoucement at this point. Fortunately, there are other interesting developments in NXT.

Is there a summary of what happened with cointropolis?

Thanks

Once we have a generalised content service based purely on Xnodes, I don't think we'd need to centralise voice chat to any extent.

Cool. I wonder if Dan will want to look into any of the tech that MAIDsafe will be using. They seem to have a fair amount of stuff on their wiki - https://github.com/maidsafe/MaidSafe/wiki

I know what we're doing is from a different angle since we focus on privacy. And we're also building directly upon the Bitcoin blockchain technology. But it might save some time and give Dan ideas.

Actually, I was thinking a few days ago how the fragmenting of transactions is very similar to how Maidsafe is fragmenting files for their decentralized internet.

I agree that the two are awesome projects and could compliment each other...

Maidsafe is a fascinating project. Wildly ambitious. Bitcoin devs should be cheering Dan on that he is advancing the Bitcoin tech to compete with them.

When you look at Web 3.0 and blockchain 2.0 concepts that have been hinted at by the XC team there are definitely parallels between what maidsafe want to do and what we are doing. Except we are doing it in the here and now.

Bubbles..... no bubbles.....
.001.... .002.....

All meaningless.

If Dan creates a mobile app that sends anonymous voice over block chain xc can compete with every telecom giant in the world...

We are talking 5 thousand per coin.
Skype sold for 2.5 billion

So invest what you can now, but never invest more than you can afford to lose.

+1 one hope the skype implementation will come soon even if not for mobile. Kore has it already if Dan make it on top of anon multipath trutless mesh it will be a no brainer

It will come. Group chat, voice, and then video.

And it'll be completely private.

Korecoin apparently have a somewhat working voice chat. It's not anonymous though and their planned anon tech doesn't seem that strong to me.

Korecoin's approach to the voice chat seems to be that it goes through some kind of centralised script or service (pbcx I think the dev refers to it as). Is this how our video and voice service will work? Or will it be truly decentralised like our messaging system? I don't know whether it's possible for voice chat to be done without some kind of centralised script or service. Not that it matters much to me, it's awesome either way.

HAHAH call me a troll my TA has led me to make more money then i can handle at my age... So yea ill accept being a troll if u think giving a Level headed approach to trading is trollish... It was trollish of the forum to delete the TA

I'm just tired of seeing your name and a negative/aggressive/whining post next to it.

And no-one cares about your tiny profits. There's people in this forum with tens of thousands of BTC.

Jeez this thread is sooo one sided....

Dude you complain WAY too much in this topic.

Why are you always crying about stuff? If this coin and community is so bad, why are you even here? Just sell and and don't come back.

Is it just me, or does DRK look desperately outdated these days?  Shills are struggling to stay relevant... Can't blame them.

God point.

Ofc they are desperate. Why do think drk price and volume increase in last days?
So they can keep their noobs investors.(i mean noncrypto ones)
We need more buy support. It will come but we need to have patience and faith in Dan and hes crew.

When xc will rise darkcoin will vanish. And they know that.

Having one thing actually working vs having 100 things planned but not implemented or even designed yet is outdated?

DRK's release candidates have been a clusterfuck of forks and problems.
776  Bitcoin / Legal / What are the legal requirements for setting up an EU Coinbase style business on: September 17, 2014, 08:42:22 PM
If it is to serve only EU citizens and will take a coinbase style approach of acting like a dealer, what laws do I have to respect? Do I need any licenses?

The business will run in the UK but will likely have foreign bank accounts due to UK banks being bitcoin unfriendly.

What is the safest, lightweight NXT wallet out there?

This was released 2 days ago which is a mobile interface for their web wallet:
https://nxtforum.org/mynxt-info/mynxt-info-mobile-apps-%28android-iphone-maybe-windows-phone%29/
One more web wallet: https://nxtblocks.info/#wallet

As for what is the safest - you decide for yourself Smiley

I can't use either of those unfortunately.

A newly released wallet isn't safe enough for me unless it's from someone very respected. And I don't use web wallets for security reasons.

BTC is crashing. It always brings alts down with it unless they are being pumped hard.

Signs In The Last 24 Hours That XC Is Gaining Recognition and Word Is Spreading

1. Bitcoin magazine tweeted about XC

This is a huge win for us marketing wise. Even better is the actual content of the tweet.

2. Zerovalue has tipped us as a potential winner

This is just the kind of site we want spreading the word about XC - to people with an interest in financial investments.

3. Kristov Atlas, researcher of Bitcoin and privacy is interested in XC

4. New posters trickling into the XC topic. I'm even seeing diehard DRK posters asking questions here. Interest in our revolutionary new tech is flourishing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other things:

- Paid press release coming out soon to celebrate the good news
- Price is trending upwards nicely which attracts new people to our community
- Tons more development and projects to look forward to e.g. web 3.0 blockchain based content delivery
- Don't forget to join the newly announced multipool http://xcpool.xcurrency.co/
