781  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: November 16, 2015, 11:36:04 PM
But they would have received this money from me, if they had a product  what to sell.  But they have not.
And now they are playing with millions.

At this point they wish they were playing with millions. They killed themselves with the SP20.

"Killed themselves" with the SP20?"  Can you explain more?  It wasn't profitable enough?

We had a "price war" between the S5 of Bitmain and the SP20 of Spondoolies. Both was pretty much selling at with very low profit. (even not all)

They had a price war with someone who's BOM was probably not far off half of theirs.
The S5 =
  • a fan
  • a BBB, basic expansion card
  • 2 hashing boards, no DC/DC
  • 2 basic routed aluminium heatsinks
  • 2 fan brackets, 1 controller bracket
  • Chinese assembly and testing costs

The SP20:
  • a fan
  • a fully custom, expensive, double sided controller
  • an expensive, fully custom pressed anodized aluminium case
  • two dual sided PCBs, full DC/DC
  • 8 extruded aluminium heatsinks with copper bases
  • Israeli assembly and testing costs

They chose to liquidate SP20s quickly to raise cash, not because they wanted to or could sell them for that price. As I said at the time, buy an SP20 if you think its such a good price because its certainly not staying around. They made 1000s and 1000s of loss making machines.
782  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: November 16, 2015, 03:40:14 AM
Are new ant miners worth getting hold of these days given the fact of MH to kwh to cost in UK? Any improvements over how much power is being used on s7 1042 watt is that running at full speed at 100% load or that under volted to produce or that the default it has when shipped mining at 4TH. Can the unit be powered off 2x 750watt psu or need special PSU or high spec?

How much are you paying for power? An S7 is an S7 in terms of efficiency and I'm yet to see a sustainable or cost efficient way to undervolt. Depends which 750w PSU as its a bit of a cable rail game.
783  Other / Meta / Re: Why 0.11.1 isn't shown at the top of the forum as latest version? on: November 16, 2015, 03:35:28 AM
Why isn't 0.11.2 shown at the top now? It has been several days since it was released, enough time to do all of the gitian builds.

Because bct is just one of his 600 jobs, probably still recovering from midterm caffeine withdrawal.
784  Other / Meta / Re: Every thread now has more anti-BTC spam accounts than real forum users on: November 15, 2015, 10:16:16 PM
Does the forum ban by IP?
I believe so.

It's no deterrent though as these people are computer literate & can use a VPN or even Tor to sign back up with new troll accounts again & again & again & again.........

Its not a real IP ban, its an evil points system. If an account gets banned on an IP, the next time someone registers an account with that IP it requires a small payment. So given enough money, you can endlessly create accounts on the same IPs. I vote for true IP bans but its unlikely to happen.

PSU not lasting a year?

I have all Bitmain PSUs for my S5 and S7s

What's the MTBF for reasonable good brand PSU?

All the Corsair PSUs I scored were rated for 100k hours = 11+ years 24/7.
786  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Forum data extraction (for research purposes): information request on: November 15, 2015, 04:56:34 AM
You can append
Code:
;action=printpage
to the url of the topic. This can be used for longer threads and might be helpful if ;all doesn't work.

Oh wow that's nice, good for archiving threads although it does snip the post numbers off.
787  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer U3 Setup [HD] on: November 15, 2015, 03:33:28 AM
I'm trying to get my 2 Antminer U3 devices setup. I've done all the correct steps with Zadig, but for some reason, when I try to run CGminer, it says "No devices detected! waiting for USB hotplug devices" I'm new to Bitcoin, too.

Exactly which version of cgminer are you using?
788  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bitmain S3's Temputure requierments on: November 15, 2015, 03:33:08 AM
Condensation will be your biggest issue. You may consider 'greenhousing' them in a plastic box with cutouts etc to keep the actual miner and its case >5C.
789  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Forum data extraction (for research purposes): information request on: November 15, 2015, 03:27:50 AM
;all is only available in threads up to around 20 pages, still very useful. Maybe you could find the data source that the mimic sites are using?
790  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Spondolies SP50 on: November 15, 2015, 03:11:53 AM
Sorry if I missed it but has anyone heard the price of these and how many qualifies as a bulk order?

Rumours are between 25 and 35k, MOQ of 10 but not actually for sale. Seems the promotional material was for investors and the actual first products for BTCS due to the exclusivity agreement.
791  Other / Meta / Re: Fundraiser for Countries in Crisis on: November 15, 2015, 03:10:39 AM
so the people of this forum can donate to whichever forum they want with an assigned bitcoin address and once it reaches a certain threshold, the organizer would convert it and send it to the organization?

This has and never will work on a bitcoin forum.
792  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 6? Any owners out there? on: November 14, 2015, 11:46:33 PM
Can anyone confirm that they are not as noisy as antminers and more like 4.1?

At stock they are between an S5 and S7.

Is that an assumption or you already witnessed the miner hashing? The noise level is the reason I'm actually interested in avalon6.

About noise, I just did a short test in my lab. It's ~70db @ 1M, full fan speed (~3800rpm), include
a noisy server PSU. Air in-take temp is ~ 30C, board temp is ~ 72C. Will significantly lower the
noise by lower the fan rpm, but the ambient temperature should be low.

In this design, I leave the fan out of the case, in order to change the fan fast. This is a very important feature for large facilities.

Has an almost-identical-to-the S5-fan, of which the S7 has 2.
793  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S7 Setup [HD] on: November 14, 2015, 11:41:15 PM
sometimes I come close to machine or walk by it beeps.
maybe coinsidece but could help fix these errors

Its far, far more likely to be rentrig.co pool going down than a problem with your miner. I can't even think of a physical fault which would do that, but 100 for your network and mining pool. If you really want to test it, put it on one of the super pools (antpool etc) and see what happens.

oke but the fully random offline's?
also pool issue?

The pool warns me s7 offline, just like that!
the beeps are not really a problem.

Yes, test with something else.
794  Other / Meta / Re: Wow, you can buy positive trust for 0.0301btc on: November 14, 2015, 10:29:41 PM
I will not argue  more with  liar like you are.

Then you will have no problem staying away from me, not derailing threads just because I'm involved with them and making up knowingly false accusations in order to blackmail companies.
795  Other / Meta / Re: Wow, you can buy positive trust for 0.0301btc on: November 14, 2015, 08:53:34 PM
So , abuse  is normal, and give feedback from purchase 10 USD e-book is not ?
You dedicate your time, trolling, posts and signature to me. I asked you to stop, you didn't. I left you a neutral trust, you left me a neutral trust accusing me of all kinds of things including obscenities, which I took to mean you were at the least quick to fly off the handle. I believe people of such deposition are more likely to have problem transactions and so escalated my trust rating.

I even drafted a PM to send you in the morning a few days ago to work it out, to come online to find you'd proliferated more stuff about me. You made your own bed and only you can unmake it.

That implies that escrow.ms has specifically added BTSpagetti to his trust list, presumably realizing that this would give his left feedback added weight.
Its most likely innocent as the trust ratings were recent. Its possible that spaghetti doesn't even know he's in DT and so hasn't altered his 'transaction log-esque' ways. Has anyone actually PM'ed them?
796  Other / Meta / Re: Wow, you can buy positive trust for 0.0301btc on: November 14, 2015, 06:14:08 PM
For reference his sole trustee is escrow.ms. Generally I don't think this is a good idea for small trades as it ends up with the SebJu or (half of the) CITM situation where people do business with them in order to get positive trust ratings.

I'm confused. Reputation is within meta, but doesn't show up as a subforum of meta?
799  Other / Meta / Re: Reputation on: November 14, 2015, 10:43:20 AM
Which account earned Hero in 7 months?

To my knowledge that's impossible. It takes 480 days to earn Hero. I'm sure Theymos and admins can set activity levels if they want / need to so maybe some special deal was made for someone serving  in a staff role but not called "Staff" or "Admin".

It's hard to tell for sure unless you provide the name.

Well, check this out: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1247903.0;topicseen
A newbie called "harryploppers" is selling a Hero account with 540+ activity. THAT is how you do the 'impossible'.

He's using a new account to sell a different account which is hero rank. Its common so they don't risk 'wasting' an established account by people providing negative trust for account selling.
