Need some help. About a week or more ago my Mac Hobo wallet crashed for some unknown reason. Every time I would launch it after would just cause a crash prior to loading the wallet. Seemed to be failing on the blockchain load. I went as far as to delete everything in the folder. I did back up my wallet file so know thats in a safe spot. Ever since I have tried to resync the block chain a few times. Get a day or two into downloading it. For some reason wallet stops syncing. I close and restart wallet, and then the app crashes again and I have to start downloading blockchain all over again. I have tried resyncing the Mac wallet on 3 different mac machines i own and it doesn't make it through it and i can't get wallet to finish syncing or load properly. I did download the blockchain available download. fresh install folder, replace files in directory, and app crashes before getting into wallet. Then have to start all over again. A bit frustrating since i haven't been able to get into my hobo wallet for over 10 days now trying to resent the wallet.
Some ideas or a fix / update to the mac wallet would be appreciated.

Hard to tell from your post, so if you've already done this, ignore me Tongue

But try to sync with a new wallet, all the way. THEN turn off your client and copy the old wallet.dat in place. If it crashes, then you've got a corrupt wallet.dat file. There are a few ways around that. First one is to start the client with the -salvagewallet flag, which will attempt to bring everything back. If it works, then you'll want to dump the private keys and import them into a new wallet.dat file. Just on general principles.

I'm solo mining on port 40001 and appear to be getting every block.  So what am I doing wrong?  Sent a couple hundred to Polonix and Bittrex and never appeared.
It would appear you're on a fork.

Best bet is to resync your blockchain.

Important things I miss I guess. Looked healthy before I went to sleep. Jakov was mining on as always. I'll be glad to wait. I have lovely ping to Biomech's Pool. Smiley

Thanks.

I've got some serious problems to fix. In trying to reindex after a fork, something got seriously messed up in the database. I am attempting to recover it, but I might not be able to. I know Jakov was mining, and I think you, when it went wrong. So if you know how much you had coming, please PM me with it. If all goes reasonably well, I'll be able to recover all of the payout data. If not, I'll make it right. Not sure at this time when I'm going back up with the pool. It won't be long, but I'm making sure to have better failsafes and recovery options this time.
824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★ [GMC] GameCredits - PlayPay Defined • A Multi-Platform Gaming Currency [GMC]★ on: May 16, 2015, 08:31:45 AM
Ok, a whole bunch of stuff broke on the pool. Mysql went goofy, and etcetera. Aside from those blocks generated on the fork, no coins were lost, but I may have lost share data. Most of the pool was one guy, and we're talking. But if anyone else was pointed at the pool and waiting on payouts, give me one day to rebuild. If your data hasn't been recovered, contact me. I'll make sure you're paid out correctly. And a bit besides, if it fails to pull the data in Tongue

Sorry for the growing pains. I have run private pools before, where I and a few others mined them by invitation, but this is the first public one. It's proving to be a bit of a bear.
825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★ [GMC] GameCredits - PlayPay Defined • A Multi-Platform Gaming Currency [GMC]★ on: May 16, 2015, 04:25:46 AM
There is a problem with the GMC! pool. If you notice that your miners have gone to failover, that is why. The daemon has apparently forked. It's almost 500 blocks ahead. I'm repairing it now, but it may take a little while.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Something is not behaving correctly still with the network picking up pre-fork Clients. We are working on it. Next iteration will fully exclude those clients. In the meantime, I am trying to keep the lid on this.

Atheist only exist because of god. Funnay.

It's true of the word. Without the "god concept" we would not be identified as "other".
827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Merged mining on: May 14, 2015, 05:20:49 PM
Hello boys and girls.

I have a question regarding merged mining. A pretty basic question, I thought, but I can't seem to find any commentary on it. So here goes.

If a coin can be merged mined, is it to one specific "parent" coin, or any coin that uses the same algorithm?

I believe the coin that is to be merge-mined must have code to support every parent chain. The parent, however, doesn't even need to know it's a parent chain.

That makes sense. So theoretically, you could make a coin that could be merged by a large number of potential parents.

Thanks.

Never understand why people do that

It's easy. Just remember the two most common elements in the universe, and you'll understand.

Hydrogen and stupidity.

...I'm no part of the "hate on dogie" crowd.

It is not a "hate on dogie" crowd. It is an ever increasing number of forum members who have legitimate grievances. The reason you are not amongst them is probably because you have not yet:

been neg rep'd by him for having a different or correct point of view,
or been neg rep'd by one of his aliases for no reason,
or been fraudulently charged VAT by him,
or been publicly wrongfully accused of something by him,
or had your thread spammed with BS by him,
or been given false reports & bad reviews by him,
or been insulted & bullied off the forum by him,
or had your posts reported & deleted by him because he doesn't like what you say,
etc, etc.....

Spondoolies themselves have been a victim of his slurs. Don't worry - you'll soon get to be a member of this "crowd" when he gets round to you..... Wink

I doubt it. He's been nothing but cool to me in our few interactions. But anyway, I'll just leave it at that. As I said, I'm slightly positive, and overall neutral towards the man. His guides have been very helpful to me, and whether or not the above holds true, he and I have never crossed swords.
831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin Hi-PoS hybrid pos/pow no premine/ipo/ico on: May 13, 2015, 04:33:00 AM
Some POS coins have a "window" where it stops gaining weight after a time. TEK doesn't.

As far as I can see TEK has the standard PPC stake protocol including max weight

Code:
unsigned int nStakeMinAge = 60 * 60 * 24 * 30; // minimum age for coin age
unsigned int nStakeMaxAge = 60 * 60 * 24 * 90; // stake age of full weight
unsigned int nStakeTargetSpacing = 1 * 60; // 60 seconds block spacing
https://github.com/noise23/TEK/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L46

Hmm. I wonder if that's part of Noise23's update? Or was I just wrong?

As long as i can remember it has always been this way.

Ah well. Not the first time I've been wrong Tongue

I guess my understanding was off because it does continue to accrue "interest", but not weight. I thought it was both. Never had a TEK block take more than a couple days to stake, so I didn't care, but it's better to be correct.

Hello, GMC peeps!

Brief update from the team. First, we must apologize for taking so long, but things have taken longer than anticipated. That being said, things are happening.

First off, I just saw Insalaner's post regarding pool payouts. Everything else is as it should be, the funds are safe. I will figure out why it's not updating. Most likely one of the crons is stuck. That's a pretty simple fix. If it's deeper than that, I'll still fix it Cheesy

Now, to the actual development stuff.

We are continuing to build out the website and there will be a forum specifically for GMC and related issues. Can't give an exact date yet, but the development has been ongoing. A couple of us have had illness and family issues to deal with, which slowed this down. But what hasn't slowed down is that we are developing a ground breaking online gaming platform. Stay tuned, there will be more in a few hours! I've been in on this from the sidelines almost since the idea was propsed. Personally, I'm more interested in the mechanics and marketing aspect of the Gamecredits platform, but this game is something I want to play Cheesy

Oh, and you'll need your coins to play. So will investors  Cool

I thought we resolved this already last week? Unconfirmed blocks from 10 days ago on http://gmc.cryptocloudhosting.org/. Would be great to get these green finally.  Shocked

I am a little confused by the "you will get the rate of 60 days."
If you don't stake 1000 coins for 60 days at 10% you will get 30 day rate of 1100, and the 1210 for the second month all in one go?
How about partial months?
Let's say I wait out 40 days because the difficulty is too high, then it drops down so I start staking.  How is my extra 10 days paid out to me?

Also, if we all want to wait for a low difficulty, can the next release of the wallet have an auto-stake at the lowest difficulty?

I can't recall exactly how it's coded, but the interest rate is approximately 500% per annum (with variation from Novacoin code). If you go past the initial maturity, there's no upper limit. If you held out for a full year, and hit the difficulty correctly, you'd get ~500 %. Some POS coins have a "window" where it stops gaining weight after a time. TEK doesn't.

EDIT, I hit post too soon Tongue

It should be relatively trivial to write a script that monitors difficulty and unlocks your wallet via RPC command. Personally, I'm along for the ride. It stakes at whatever it stakes at. I know that's not optimal, but it's my game.

Overmoderation again. Especially in a SELF MODDED thread. Someone doesn't want STech thread bumped but they tend to ignore that in Bitmaintech or Avalon threads that predominate this section of the forum.

That's clearly aimed at me so I'll just make it clear; I haven't reported shit in here.

Is it just me, or is this thread shrinking? Could've sworn I saw it at 646 and 645 pages. Now it's at 644.

SPTech deleting posts?  That's odd...

MIght be mods. They've been deleting shit for no apparent reason in several places.

Maybe they're dumping posts from known spam accounts or something like that.

couple of mine were deleted. Humorous, nothing ugly or terribly off topic. Seemed random. In a self moderated thread, too. I'm dead certain the owner of the thread didn't do it, he was in on the jokes. And we're friends. Besides, when has BCT EVER deleted spam or scams?

The PM will say if its deleted by a moderator or the starter of a self moderated thread.

in fact aren't they guilty of a serious crime if they LEAVE ISLAM?  If so how can someone say they are not Muslim.

I have said number of times there is no punishment if someone leave Islam in Islam.

Are you sure? I'm no expert but punishment for leaving Islam seems to practiced and preached quite a bit though many liberal muslims obviously tend not to believe in it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostasy_in_Islam

It is Riddah. What I am saying is about leaving Islam. Riddah is a different thing than just leaving Islam. There are different punishments for Riddah but not death penalty AFAIK except maybe in newly created religion.

It's probable there are vast differences in the practice of Islam in various areas.

But that's all the more reason one should not attempt to speak "For All Islam."

It is not various areas. After death of prophet, some people started to create new group-like which spread wrong beliefs and/or wrong rules such as Salafi, Mujahid Islam etc...

Do you theists realize that you do more to disprove religion in your discourse than any atheist ever could? We proceed from logic. You deny it.

If there were a god AND this god wanted to be worshipped, AND it was all powerful, there would be precisely how many religions and how much ambiguity and sectarianism?

I am not denying logic. In theism-atheism case, logic will vary from person to person but some matches. It's hard to come to a conclusion and to tell that is logic.

One true religion but there can be more if there are fake religions.

My construct was precise, and it's based off of what religions, particularly the "big three", claim

I'll make it more explicit, with a bit of commentary before hand.
I am what is sometimes called a "soft" or "weak" atheist. I do not like those terms, as there is nothing soft nor weak about my position. I actually think the so called "strong" or "positive" atheist has the weaker position. To wit: I do not claim there is no god, I assert without reservation that I believe in no gods. None. Not yours, his, or that weirdo over there. Just as you are an atheist in reference to zeus, apollo, chtulu, whatever. I just belive in one less than you. Because logic dictates that for the religious claims to be true, certain preconditions must be met.

they have not. .

Religious Axiom One: There is a god.

Religious Axiom Two. The presupposed god wishes to be worshipped.

Religious Axiom Three. The presupposed god is omnipotent.

With just these three common religious assumptions (which most religious people take as axiomatic) the whole thing falls apart.

there is no unambiguous evidence that a god or gods exist. One can't disprove a negative, of course, so this in itself does not disprove these religious sentiments.
However, the next two render your answer impossible. If your god is both desiring to be worshipped AND omnipotent, there could not be any "fake" religions. There could only be one, because such a being would not be hidden.

And this is just the beginning. It doesn't address the questions of evil, suffering, social disparity, none of that. And the deeper you dig, the worse it gets. For perspective, I used to be a very religious man. I do not speak from ignorance, I am formerly an ordained minister. Not your religion, but Christianity. I have studied the bible in depth, and could (and have) argue it's merits and deficiencies with just about any well educated minister, cardinal, what have you. I am not as well versed in Islam, as I was born where it holds little sway. (which, by the by, strengthens my argument above). What exposure I have had to Islam tells me two things that matter.

One. Islam is just as internally contradictory as Christianity.
Two. This makes it just as false.

any explanation dev, why gmc disabled at bittrex??
did they already contact you?

Again?
Can't speak for the whole team, but they haven't contacted me. chain is fine, so it can't be that.

Yup, everything looks fine, must be Bittrex running a maintenance. Also no contact have been made from their side.
Everything is ok,just maintance....market is back.
 Cool
yeah, market is open but wallet still disable
look at this picture i take

Wallet maintenance, that's what markets do. They're politics on announcing wallet maintenance pretty much vary. I saw Poloniex usually do that but sometimes issues happen and are resolved without the need of an announcement.

It's a bit behind where you're stuck but should speed up the process. I wish I knew what was going on, but I'm not having any problems with any of my chains Sad (I'm running three: Block explorer, pool, and personal wallet. Al without trouble.)

I have a script that will constantly update the bootstrap. Over the weekend, I will make a page and make it downloadable for everyone. I need to determine the interval, but I think daily is good for now.
