821  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I was ripped off on: October 17, 2023, 06:48:43 PM
Thankfully is was only 55.58663 mBTC
It's good to know you're already taking this in good faith and have adjusted to move on, not withstanding that the amount involved isn't that small. It's close to $1,500 at the current worth.

I would like think that you actually know the person you sent the coins to in real life because if you don't it's quite foolish to send someone that certain amount of Bitcoin for the purchase of a physical item like a car.
People do pay for stuff online to have items delivered to them at their door post. That's not really an issue and I want to believe OP isn't new to that. The only issue I've with what OP did was sending payment in a rush (scammers count on the hastiness/rush of their victims and so will hurry them up) without waiting for the car to be delivered to them first since it wasn't from an auto company.
822  Economy / Economics / Re: Isreal and Palestine war and losing your wallet phrase and password on: October 17, 2023, 06:07:19 PM
Have you consider that you lose all your coins because the wallet phrase to your coins and PC burn in a war.
So what will you do if you survive after the war to start back your financial struggling and your crypto investment journey. Or can you get the coins back?
To be sincere with you, I always think of this situation whenever I come across those numerous comments on wallet safety. We can only think of where our wallets are after we've survived a war. No one thinks of where their money or property is in a war. No matter how tight you think you've made the safety of your wallet you can only have access to your place of safety for it if it's not affected by the incidence of war after the war or is anyone going to have sheets of papers on them as they journey for safety? I bet they will get dispossessed of such at first check point.

The only place to keep such would be in an email. Just pile up everything secret in one's email with a remarkable password. If one can remember the email password, one can easily open it after the war to assess whatever that's kept there but is the email even a better option with all the hacks we see every time?
823  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Correlation between buying and selling of bitcoin: Is it a technical methodology on: October 17, 2023, 04:54:52 PM
My question is that, what makes the price go up as people are buying and the price goes down as people are selling...

More clarification on this will be appreciated.
It's basic economics that's entrenched in the law of Demand and Supply, like some users above have explained to you. I said it's basic because no one needs to be highly educated to understand this law. To buttress it further, take for instance someone brings to you a television set that you aren't willing to buy but wouldn't mind having, anyway. You wouldn't be so much interested to bargain upwards with them because you aren't in demand for it. You're going to quote a price that's likely not going to be in favour of the seller. The seller may walk away but may likely come back to you if they don't get someone else to quote a higher price than yours. If the seller gets someone else to buy it off, it means demand is still there for it but if not and they come back to you, you're more likely going to negotiate further down with the seller. That's how price will keep going down if the scenario keeps playing out that way. It's lack of demand that causes buyers to have an upper hand as sellers will be in panic mood to sell cheaper. Every seller in panic wants to quickly sell off so as not to incur more loss. The reverse is the case with this scenario that I've shared.
824  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What Reward for a Trading Mentor on: October 17, 2023, 04:39:59 PM
If you guys can give me some ideas, it will help me to take charge of the conversation when I meet with the potential mentor.
Nothing is a fit for all in every situation. Whatever decision you want to take as reward system for your prospective mentor will depend on the mentor. If someone is going to mentor you for free, the best thing you can do for them is pay attention to what they're teaching you. No mentor likes a student who doesn't pay attention to what they're taught. The simple reason being that mentors like guarding their mentees through slippery slopes and wouldn't want to be constantly distracted by the mentees penchant for lack of attention so much that they will constantly have to revert to what they've taught before. However, if you're getting a paid mentorship; the pay is their reward. Pay them and still pay attention for you own good because once the payment is made, most paid mentors don't give a hoot if you're learning or not.
825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gift to wife. on: October 17, 2023, 02:36:02 PM
I gave him half of the investment as per my word. He is very happy to get Bitcoin.
I'm sure your wife won't be happy reading that you addressed her with that pronoun, except she's mixed because you also used "she" in this same post. Once is an error but twice means something else. "You gerrit?"

Moving forward, your intention of gifting your better half what's yours isn't a bad idea provided it's also what you can afford to lose. We've seen where people give and then regret giving. I hope it won't be the case here.

Congratulations on your new status. Happy married life. Enjoy!
826  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What if the internet permanently shuts down on: October 17, 2023, 09:48:29 AM
I know we're dealing with a supposition, a hypothetical situation here. As scary as the painted scenario is, it can still be a reality for the internet to collapse. After all, the internet wasn't there some years ago. So, what makes anyone think there's nothing that can destroy it. Well, at the moment, we all know that whenever we can't assess the internet in our environment we're locked out of  anything that has to do with the Internet. Bitcoin depends on the internet to thrive and so whenever we don't have internet assess we can't assess our wallets or any stuff related to it. I wish and hope we don't ever get to that point where this doom painted won't become a global reality.
827  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: You are also like them? on: October 17, 2023, 07:23:50 AM
Watching these YouTuber 'technical analysts' is like witnessing a comedy show. They just scribble lines on a Bitcoin chart and act like they're gazing into a crystal ball. But the reality is, they're about as accurate as a broken clock – right only twice a day. It's laughable how they sell this snake oil, predicting the future with squiggly lines. I wouldn't bet a Satoshi on their so-called insights!
I had a good laugh reading through your comment... The snake oil got me the most 😂.

Anyway, joking apart; I think what those lines do on the charts is to present a type of navigation through the charty waters of trading as technical analyses. What we shouldn't do when we see those YouTubers talk is to conclude that they've the holy grail. No one holds the holy grail in this market. We all are speculators. Speculators can't be right every time. No human is always right, even on a field they claim expertise. Till tomorrow, the famed business mogul, Warren Buffet, still loses money on investment. Analysts or speculators shouldn't be any different.
828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Magical Is The Magic Money ? - Bitcoin on: October 16, 2023, 07:48:44 PM
Your caption got me the wrong way. For a second, I thought the "magic money' mentioned in your topic title was the type often pronounced by evangelical and pentecostal preachers or the entire African Christian pastors in their crusades to woo membership. This is a classical example of why nobody should read a headline alone and run off with its supposed story.
829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think? Selling all or not on: October 16, 2023, 05:27:12 PM
... I don't think selling all my bitcoin in the bull market is the best.
Your comment as quoted already told us your position on the question you're asking us to respond to. I don't also advise people to sell all of the coins/tokens they've whenever they're taking profit. That's my simple way of reducing my regret level. Selling off 70% to 80% is good enough. However, I won't advise that if I knew a dump was coming. I would rather sell off everything and then watch on the sidelines. If I may ask, OP, wouldn't you also sell off everything if you were hodling Bitcoin at $40k but peeped into the future to discover that Bitcoin would dump to $13k in a few days? Wouldn't you? Of course, any sensible person would do that, and that's the right thing to be done at a situation like that. Sell off and then rebuy
830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which old coin do you prefer? Litecoin or Dogecoin? on: October 16, 2023, 01:33:33 PM
I prefer Dogecoin rather than Litecoin, even though Dogecoin is a meme coin, but I have often used Dogecoin to make transactions and in my opinion transactions using Dogecoin are very fast and of course the gas fees are also very cheap, so if one day cryptocurrency will become a currency that legal, so I'm sure there will be many people or companies using Dogecoin for transactions, because transactions using Dogecoin are very fast and cheap.
I thought I was the only one, literally, who noticed the fast transaction speed of Dogecoin. The first time I used it a few years again, I was shocked because the transfer I made confirmed even before I could flip the site to check it. Not even BSC transactions come any close to its speed and ease of confirmation. As for Litecoin, I first knew of it when it was $4 but for one thing or the other I haven't keyed into buying and keeping more than a handful of it. Just a few weeks ago I tried again and bought a few days to its halving but the outcome has been regretful as the coin slumped after that event. It has continued on a steep since then.

I will choose Dogecoin any day above Litecoin or any other alts when it comes to payment option.
831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If only property I have is bitcoin on: October 16, 2023, 09:54:32 AM
Right now I'm thinking to myself of my investment and if only investment i have is bitcoin, and when I'm no more who will manage my bitcoin investment and how will my family know about my bitcoin investment...
Talking of Bitcoin in the light of an investment goes to buttress the fact that Bitcoin is more of an asset than of money. That's an undisputable fact.

...when  I was ill, I was asking myself series of questions in my mind.

> should I show my family my seed phrase ?
> If I die who will take over my bitcoin since nobody knows my seed phrase?
Why do most people think of death only when they're ill. Death can come upon us at anytime. After all we've been assigned a death warrant at birth. Every man carries the stigma of death once they're born. So, not only in illness can it come but also in good health or haven't you heard of healthy people passing on in their sleep or accidents ending people's lives?
832  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One of ways to identify scams on: October 16, 2023, 07:55:36 AM
One thing scammers work on, apart from the naivety of their victims, is greed. Scammers know this and work on it to hoodwink their victims. They make promising offers and the greedy ones fall for them. I don't know if there's a natural law to it but I've an inkling that there's something like that which nature follows – If you aren't greedy you won't be trapped by enticing word and ROI. People like unrealistic returns and will easily jump on the slightest opportunity at that, not minding obvious red flags they may notice. If someone is scammed because they invested in such schemes that promise high returns, they should blame themselves.

About Pi, I don't know its connection with Pinetstore.cc but I've read about people exchanging for fiat. There's a rush to accumulate it and I don't know what the use is for since it's still enclosed within the Pi community in so much secrecy. That's not how a Blockchain works.
833  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for a signature campaign manger for bitvest on: October 16, 2023, 05:41:49 AM
If you are interested respond below with your resume/qualifications, or by pm.
Why are those sending links for recommendations not reading that part? OP addressed the post to interested managers to respond by themselves.
834  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first Bitcoin on: October 15, 2023, 11:11:47 PM
Good job.
The day I got my first 2 btc, 10 years ago, was exiting. Just sold some service online and got paid with it.
That must be the era when people were practically begged to use Bitcoin. The few who showed interest using it were handsomely gifted Bitcoin. I've read here where members got 50 BTC for participating in friendly bounties set up by users themselves just for the sake of fun. This attitude dated back to 2011. I just searched the forum now and saw some of those threads. 50 BTC was more like a little giveaway then and that was why anyone could easily give it out.

My first Bitcoin was from this forum but it wasn't even from a bounty or signature campaign. It was a simple task from a member here to other members. I can't vividly recall what task it was again now.
835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CZ's view on Halving on: October 15, 2023, 10:45:04 PM
Everything CZ said there was apt. I like his foresight and ingenuity in this industry. Though his last sentence about history not being able to predict the future is the one I don't agree to. I'm of the opinion that the  Bitcoin circle of past events leading to halving or after it will repeat itself. I've witnessed two post-Bitcoin halving events out of the three and both I witnessed played out the same way. Prediction is speculation, and that's what gives us a glimpse of the furure. We speculate of things from what we assume we know of them from past data and that's what we're doing with Bitcoin to guage what the incoming halving will be. That's us trying to determine what happens in future.
836  Economy / Speculation / Re: Even Seasoned Analysts Can Get it Wrong on: October 15, 2023, 03:59:59 PM
This article: $23,000 Bitcoin (BTC) Prediction Changed by Analyst Benjamin Cowen is a proof that no one knows the future.  Benjamin Cowen is a prominent analyst that states that Bitcoin will be hitting 23k at the end of September.
I wouldn't even lambast him for his narrowly missed prediction. $23k from $27k isn't such a huge gap. What about those who predicted that Bitcoin would be around $250k? Those ones should be dragged for their wild goose chase. It's way off, completely. Again, in this industry, we've to realize that FOMO and FUD are the kingpins. Those who make these wide margin predictions may likely be people hodling gargantuan amount of Bitcoin and looking for ways to dispose them at a comfortable price. They shill it and get others to buy in and drive price up, they quietly offload theirs on the market and leave. Going forward, I don't think Mr Cowen should be lambasted because price didn't exactly get to hit his target. It's just speculation and nobody is perfect at it.

838  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Merit] Help posts in local boards that did not receive enough merits on: October 14, 2023, 04:46:20 PM
On the zero merit criterion, I would've pmed you my question but I thought otherwise because I know there are likely more members who may be dying to ask this same question.

– What if a post had zero merit at the time of sending the link here but got merited before you get to it, will that nullify its "merit worthiness" from you?
839  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk is not an office on: October 14, 2023, 04:11:52 PM
... it would be a shame if you joined this forum just to chase money.
It's also pertinent to mention that this forum didn't start giving incentives at its inception for posting through signature campaigns. It took a while, though I can't say how long that was, before campaigns became a thing here. I read some past posts dating as far back as 2011 and there wasn't a thing as that then. I like to be corrected on this if I'm wrong. What that simply means it that this forum has really metamorphosed.

Take a look at the way managers are coming up with different rules for enrollment now. In the recent past of yesterday, it wasn't so. Users on the same rank who got accepted into campaigns were paid the same thing. We can't say it's the same today on all campaigns. There are payment strata now for users of the same tank in some campaign, owing to merit difference. So, we can't say of certainty that there won't come a time when campaigns would be gone here. I know a lot of us wouldn't want to hear that 😂 but then we ought to know that change is the only constant thing in life.

Thank you all for your congratulations!
My colleagues posted these threads on Meta and I did the same.
I wanted to share my thoughts after spending so much time here. Almost 25 days every year I was with you. Support each other and be more positive.
My bad! In my bid to quickly edit what I posted earlier I forgot to say what should've been utmost at this time – Congratulations, zasad! Continue to be healthy and active (both here & in bed) 😏.
