I want buy used S7, acceptable price is 900$ per 1 unit

I am ready pay first then you will ship miner for me, but I need verify that miner in good condition before I sent money.

How will you verify that the miner is in good condition? Also, where are you located?

I'm one of those people trying to get cheap antminers on ebay because even if you bought bitcoin on an exchange and used it to buy cheaper s5s here, the price would be the same as these overpriced exchanges.. well... yep.
You think S5s are being sold expensive? Look at s3s and crap. Even s1s are being sold at 45 a pop, and s3s are for 70-90 commonly.

I'm not sure I agree look at coinbase it's pretty fair on pricing. I think they are around 1 percent - https://support.coinbase.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1826294-how-are-fees-applied-when-i-buy-or-sell-bitcoin- .  And prices on gear here on forums are normally a decent amount cheaper then ebay.  Ebay all miners bring a premium.  I have sold most of mine on it as it was better financially.

I have had a few that were better on here to sell.  The biggest was my S5+ I found a better buyer here.   But ebay I normally do a decent amount better selling even after huge fee's.

I mentioned I sold all my previous gen gear, then went to coinbase to buy back in with all cash from sales.  I also got lucky I have gained even more value as I am holding the coins trying to decide if I want more current gen or wait till next gen..... have not been able to pull trigger yet on current gen from sales of last gen.

If you buy Bitcoin on Coinbase it can be even cheaper.
Personally i pay a flat 1$ to deposit fund there (and its instant). Then if i buy on the exchange, as a maker, i pay 0% fee. So you could buy a couples of S5's at 1$ markup. Even if you buy only one, this is light years better than 200$+ on Ebay.

Dunno, if you buy at 20% markup on exchanges, you're not using the right ones. Even Cex.io with 3.5% credit card fee is much better than buying from Ebay. And the problem about Ebay is not exactly buying, its selling.

People can buy from you, mine for a while, then file a claim and return the miner because not as advertised etc.

Have a look here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1284894.0

I recommend Kano.is
Fantastic pool well over 100% luck average since inception

Did you read what OP said? He's asking if he should start one.

And imo i don't know. You can try, but it would be hard to beat a boot like Kano, because its hard to do any better and the pool's fee is super low.
886  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: February 27, 2016, 05:42:36 PM
Im not a happy customer at all.

We sent 2x S7 hashing boards for warranty replacement well over 6 weeks ago at out own cost.

They agreed to replace both but it took them 4 weeks to admit they had received them.

The 2 replacements boards were sent a week ago and have arrived but they have sent incorrect parts  Angry

They have sent 2x S5 hashing boards instead of the S7 boards expected, im really pissed off now im fed up of being polite with Bitmain as they have been pissing me about for well over 4 weeks now.

How the hell do I get this resolved, not only have they sent me 2x S5 boards they are in terrible condition, very messy with burn marks on them  Angry

I have put pictures below of what's arrived.

In retrospec, i didnt have any issues with Antminers so far, but considering how such of a pain they are to deal with. I dont think i'll be buying anything brand new from them until they fix customer service and probably base it somewhere not in China.

Does anyone want a S5? My electric costs are about equal to earnings, making it hard to continue...
Whats it worth?
there are insane people selling the S5 for $200, and there are even more insane people buy it for $200. I wouldn't buy one if it's over $100.

Of course, who wouldnt like 2 months ROI. Everyone love 2 months ROI. Its still too low for a S5 for now, but it look like the value might be about 160$.

Depends on where you sell it ebay you can get more then over here, but lots of possible headaches. I sold all my last gen gear S5's/SP20's/Avalon 4.1's.   I made far more selling then what I would make mining at normal electricity rate.

I did that bought coins with money.... so far was a very smart move short term.  Long term that will go into new mining gear.  But I think a lot would be surprised if they run ROI that they are better off selling.

And I HATE selling parting with miners.  But I know it has to happen at some points.

Well, i personally dont see the point selling them at 130$ or less. I can just run them instead. But for closer to 200$, i can see an upside. Maybe its just me but 100$ is way too low. At that price i'd probably want them.

I got over 200's for mine a decent amount above. I don't know where you got 130 number that is closer to S3 territory. I don't have included power with rent, my house has electricity bills.  You are lucky my friend and in a unique position.

Sure I want to keep them all.... but it adds up when you have a few.  And if I can get a few extra bitcoins for ROI vs sitting as a ornament it makes sense.   And they will buy new miners.    I like new running miners vs old miners laying around.   Would be nice mementos but I could always buy then later on for less then I sold.

Because the guy above says above 100$ is a ripoff for the seller. And 160$ is too high (People arent buying at that price either) just threw a middle ground on top of my head. So i dont see a point in selling that low either.

If the diff stabilize maybe they'll start selling again at 3~ months ROI but now the halving is getting pretty close.

sounds good .  I got twisted in my head viewing the photo of the yellow plug

Cheers. Now the only thing left to figure out is a not noisy extractor to run in a bedroom with only a single small window. I'm thinking maybe running some kind of quiet turbine to push air through some tubes affixed to something like this;

But maybe one in one out? Maybe one pull one push fan/turbine?

I'd set that up but vertically so the outtake is above the intake so that i dont aspire my own heat output. During summer i'll try to find a high performance window fan that fit, but during winter it might be a bit hard to justify. Either that or i see if the apartment complex has a vent i could shove all the heat into Tongue

Free heating for everyone!

To be fair you did say send offers.. I hope he left off a 0 on purpose but who knows in the forums Smiley

I'm really hoping he left off a 0 cause than it would be a respectable offer, but as it stands it's like a slap with a fish across the face. I'm not insulted or anything but it's just hilarious.

2k Doesnt even cover the PSU's Tongue

Thats almost 200TH/s as far as i understand. 187TH/s est under 2 week ROI if he gets everything. For that price, i want it too.

did you wire the plug correctly ?    the hot wires are good but I am not sure if you did the ground to the neutral.

now in my house the neutral bar and the ground bar are one in the same.

Being in a different country then me and not having access to the main circuit box  have your friend check and be sure it is safe.

Online guides says to remove the neutral pin altogether, its not needed unless you need 120V AND 240V. And hes the one that did the plug. I checked every outlets on the strip and i get 241.5V~

Or are you saying you're worried the ground is in the neutral? The Ground is the cylindric shape ish one. The flat one is the Neutral which is unplugged.

Hey guys!

I did use my oven plug to run some miners.
I ordered this http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00BHGXYRC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

Pretty good but Im a little bit sad since it give you 2x 120v plugs. I though it will be 240v but the cable seems to convert it to 120v.

You could also build one yourself for almost nothing.

Just get a NEMA 14-50 male plug, and 1 or 2 nema 15-5r + some good cable. (12gauge minimum in my opinion)

Let me know if it work  Grin

Im changing place soon so if you want my cable I could ship it to you.  Wink

I got the full kit. Strip bars, 40A PDU, NEMA 14-50p. Total cost was 164$, bought 4 too many strip bars, total 8, and 10 C13 to C14 to plug the PSU's.
Finished minutes ago with one miner plugged;

$150 Cad wasn't really that good of a deal. Its at least still over 3 months ROI, and then its the halving and will probably only make like $20/month with free power.

Its actually the most that I have ever paid for a Bitcoin miner.

Well thats 2.5months ROI on free electricity. Compared to GPUs right now its not really good but still. On free electricity this is not a bad deal at all if you are on free electricity. If you pay, then not sure.

Yes but what changes this time is the halving. Right now an S3 makes more money then a S5 will after the halving with free power, and right now people are pretty much giving S3's away and nobody is buying them. Which means that an S5 won't have much value after the halving.

So if you buy  today for around $150, it will take 3-4 months to pay off. After its paid off, it might be worth like $50 and that will be your profit. Doesn't sound like much does it. An A6 or S7 which has a slightly longer ROI period will make more per month and will hold a fairly large value as compared to an S5.

Its for the same reason why you couldn't sell those tube miners because they hold very little value because they consume more energy then they make BTC. But your A6/S7 will probably sell very well in the next 6 months or so.

Well in my math, It will ROI before halving. And then we have no idea what anything will be worth, but i get what you mean. Still selling S5 for 100$ let say 90$/TH/s sound insane imo. And this apply to these miners as well.

So no offers guys, just shop talk  Tongue?

Yep, personally i'd only be interested in some of the PSU's, if i dont get a good deal with Prelude's remaining ATX stock. I can totally take my talk somewhere else if you dont want the free bumps. Smiley

But i'm surprised you dont keep them yourself with your tasty data center. Unless you're at capacity? *shrug* Otherwise i assume they're already in your possession, plugged and profitable.

Well remember you are in a different country then I am in and notlist3d is also in the USA like I am.

HerbPean, Finksy and  valkir are all good guys and they are from Canada  maybe they would know a bit more about apartment rules.

I think valkir has an apartment in Montreal. He may be the guy to ask.

Hehe. Honestly Valkir is the one that put this idea in my mind. He has some pretty good pragmatic ideas. He first recommended turning the electric heating already in place into mining potentials though, since its pretty easy to convert and un convert when you're done.

But maybe one of those could comment. I don't really feel like bothering any of them with a PM. I'll IM Valkir though, maybe he'd be interested in giving an eye to this project.

And for the project's progress, i'm now waiting for said person to come by in a bit, i'm glad he pulled through, so it should be even safer to do now, considering he makes a living out of building circuits, so to speak.
897  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: February 26, 2016, 03:33:53 PM
Well I think once this week is resolved and next payment is resolved then am quitting signature campaign due to amount of problems it has. I use to love it here never any problems. Now with changing made to bot and updates happening with it seems always something wrong each week over last 2 months so I am out if it continues.

I hope you will comeback when the bot become more stable. I will stay with Bit-x since I dont post much nowadays and I do not like minimum post requirement. Weird, but I do like to feeling of waiting for something to be fixed. Roll Eyes

I get you're willing to wait, but its been like this non stop for like 5 months. Several time we were told "okay its going to get permanently fixed soon." and then we never really hear from that again, till we get a new bot, that seem just as broken as the last one.

Right now i have unpaid posts from 4-5 different weeks that i messaged them and receive replies from that they would look into it, but i never got any reply on the result of their research, several time.

I really want to stay with BIT-x but its getting kind of a chore, having to run after my pocket money every single week.
898  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: I want to mine on my Oven' NEMA 14-50r on: February 26, 2016, 03:17:46 PM
It's been a interesting read and sounds like project is going well.  Which is cool news.

Once you do get a miner plugged into it please share  a picture.  I would love to see how it comes out.

Hopefully, it won't be a picture of a Bonfire. I'll probably start plugging the AMTubes and if everything goes well i'll take a pic and think of what to add next. I'm guessing the GPUs rigs would be a good pic since they would be quiet in the kitchen. But then again the S5's are already running from outside the sound proof box.

Then after that i'll have to think about how to find someone that can add an outlet in the bedroom where i'm moving to soon. Since i'd rather not do it myself. But i suspect adding an outlet count as "Modifying" an apartment?

With it being an apartment I don't think you will get away with modifying it that much.  But each lease is so different really depends on yours, when I rented I never had much freedom as far as changing big things.  Also depending where you live there is also some ordinances that you have to have certain certifications or bonded, etc.  So kinda a mix of a few things.

Hopefully you luck out and can modify it some.  My last one I was not even allowed to change door knob when one broke, I had call the apartment complex... and they took care of it.  Luckily no longer renting so lot easier.

I reckon, i'd rather live at my own place now. But anyways, as per the lease rules, i have to ask before doing any modification. But what if i do it anyways? Sound like the worst that could happen is i get evicted if they somehow find out?

Because i could set this all up in the kitchen using the Oven's plug, but that sound a bit silly.

Depends on your apartment and lease.   Some of my student apartment's were with big companies and listed fees right out and they were VERY expensive.  They had the right to walk through any time with a weeks notice.   And it was far worse then getting kicked out.  It was getting kicked out and they can still follow you with the bills/fines.  Even charge you for time you did not stay there.

I would take a hard look at lease as it varies greatly.  But the owner/apartment complex has right to walk through in most leases the details vary.  But that is when most violations are caught.  Also at time of leaving apartment complex.... the last apartment I had I went through and cleaned it where it almost spotless.  I still even owed some after I think it was like 100 dollars or so of fees they said they cleaned.  Some friends there owed closer to the thousand mark.

I think you will find it veriest greatly by apartment complex.  If you ask people in the one you are planning to go to is best way to find out.  On my last lease I knew at end they dinged you with fines.   Glad to be out of apartments anymore.

Wow, the forum lost the posts i was typing. Geh.

Well anyways, i was on about how here they can't do anything thats not in the rules set by the Régie du Logement and how i'd need to ask a lawyer or in a forum dedicated to this to really know.

Where i'm going its 100% rules as per the code, its going to be government owned. The only things added is X amount of animals, price for using A/C in summer and need permission to do modifications.

And i dont see anything in the régie du logement about fines or penalties if you break lease rules. You're expected to return the apartment the way you received it and if you break a rule, the only thing that can happen is an order from the Régie to abide by.

So if you break a rule i think you'll be forced to "unmod" it at your expense.

Worse case scenario, if i have to pay 1k of fine, i think it would still be worth it and i kind of doubt they would notice the additional breaker in the electric panel if they came in for checking the alarm or whatever.

If it happens i'm willing to suffer the consequence. I just want to get this done without causing a fire or some such.

Did anyone noticed the predicted Network difficulty drop on the next window?  Market always reset itself to make it worth while.  Bitcoin can not survive without the miners, but of course lowest cost miners will always have the best odds over the long term.

Yes. Allthough it is good to remember, that bitcoin's survival is not a natural consant Wink

But of course, mining has to be profitable to someone or no-one mines. But the sad truth is, that there can be equilibrium, where mining is profitable to those with very cheap (<5c/kWh) electricity and not to others. I quess we are in that situation and there is no reason, why it can't be permanent.

On average, i think it will be. Bit datacenter picked up and now with their 2c/kWh or less electricity, they're always going to weight down the average to be profitable. Which means when something new can come out, it can be very profitable for someone with 10c/kWh, but its going to be expensive hardware and probably going to normalize back around 5c/kWh before its ROI'd significantly.

unfortunately this is up to the companies making the miners like bitmain to decide if they want to either make a large scale 5000W powerhouse machine or a 100W home miner..

large data centers arent going to fill up their buildings with 100W miners.. it woudlnt be cost effective for them.

i personally hoped that bitmain would have made the choice to make a smaller more efficient miner instead of flooding the market with larger less efficient ones.

money wise, they would have probably sold more home style ones as people would have bought 2 or 3 instead of not being able to afford to run a miner that takes 2000W+ and needs 220v to be efficient.

Bitmain would make a lot less money if they went back to small quiet home miners. Home miners are a tiny portion of their sales. They sell thousands of them and offer tiny rebate on 500 units orders of S7.

They really dont give a fuck about us wanting 2-3 quiet effective home miners.
