881  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What is the average lifespan of an Antminer S9 on: December 27, 2017, 06:30:11 PM
There is no way to answer your question. I have some batch 1 miners still going strong, and I have some December batch miners already going in for RMA. It really is luck of the draw.
882  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: clock speed on s7 ; safe to overclock? on: December 27, 2017, 04:50:53 PM
Wow...you have a model I have never seen before thats pretty rare. I have run 4.66 4.73 4.86 5.27 5.47 and 5.67 s7s but never a 4.45
883  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 is beeping. Where do I start diagnosing? on: December 27, 2017, 04:48:55 PM
Depending on the router you can set a timer where your DHCP lease only lasts for so long before it forces an IP change. I doubt thats the case but I threw it out there as a possibility
884  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How to check the temperature of my antminer s9 on: December 27, 2017, 04:46:17 PM
The miner status page shows the chip temps while it is hashing.
885  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: power outage will change ip of antminer s9? on: December 27, 2017, 04:45:25 PM
No its not normal. If you have a static IP set it should not change. I have had controllers reset to factory defaults on their own before but if it changed IP and not pool info I dont know what to tell you.
886  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 Working Fine on 110v with APW3++. Is something wrong? on: December 27, 2017, 04:43:30 PM
Pushing that PSU so far past its limits will not end well in the long run. You really should think about making a change before you have some hardware meet its unfortunate end.

Also, s9s run way hotter than s7s so dont worry about the temps unless you are creeping on 100c. Even that is in the safe operating range but most people are afraid to run them that hot.
887  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Power Antminer S7 with 3 PSUs: Is that possible? on: December 27, 2017, 04:41:32 PM
Yes you can use 3 PSUs if you want. Just make sure the PSU powering the controller is turned on last or you wont see all 3 boards.
888  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: clock speed on s7 ; safe to overclock? on: December 27, 2017, 04:40:37 PM
What does the sticker on the top say for its speed? AFAIK the slowest s7 produced was the batch 2 4.66TH version.
889  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 27, 2017, 04:38:17 PM
I dont feel they are selling used miners though....they are profitable so might as well keep running them.  A lot of people around here are building pretty massive mining farms (all S9's).  I cannot stress how stupid that is.  S9's are at the end of their lifecycle and the next generation will probably see the same increase in efficiency as the S7vsS9 (of course a little less).  Profitability is high now, but in 4 months ?  I feel its a gamble,I rather have GPUS, my 2 cents.

Considering s7s are still profitable now, I dont see why you would call the s9 end of life. The other 2 miner manufactures have taken 2 years to even match the s9 efficiency. Even if bitmain comes out with something new the s9 will be profitable for a long time to come. S9 profitability has never been higher than it has in the last 60 days, thats not usually how an EoL product performs.

GPU systems are less stable, cost more to build, and ROI slower than the s9 right now.
890  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: December 27, 2017, 04:29:49 PM
Bitmain not only dominates hardware sales but in my opinion has a 51% attack vector already secured in hash rate they control.

You do realize just because they operate large pools they dont "control" hashrate right? People can change pools whenever they want.

891  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin Mining Newbie on: December 27, 2017, 12:57:32 AM
I think the easier way to start is with a normal PC with some VGAs to mine Ethereum, you can get four 1060 or 580 (depending on what you want to mine and the cost of electricity on your house).

Except he is asking about mining bitcoins in a bitcoin forum. This is not the place for altcoin stuff.
892  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will the recent market correction impact miner pricing? on: December 27, 2017, 12:56:47 AM
No it wont.
893  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: December 27, 2017, 12:54:40 AM
Did all the payments go to the same wallet? Trace some of the payments on the blockchain to see how they have been spent.

Umm the blockchain wont tell you anything about HOW they have been spent. It is just a transaction ledger.
894  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Introduction on: December 27, 2017, 12:50:39 AM
Remember if you want to try and write off the hardware you better be paying the proper taxes on your earnings. Bitcoin is treated as property and subject to capital gains taxes.
895  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Internet Outage Risks - Antminer S9/L3+ on: December 27, 2017, 12:47:24 AM
No. This was a known problem with the early batch (54 chip) S7s using firmware from 2015. The L3 and the S9 will not burn up due to network problems like the S7 did.
896  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Is it possible to bypass the AUC3 on: December 27, 2017, 12:44:45 AM
I only got 3 with the kit I purchased!

This is why you should only order from a legit reseller.

Each Avalon comes with:

1x microUSB cable
1x AUC3
1x 5 pin data cable
897  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can't change default pool data using browser interface or in bmminer.conf??? on: December 27, 2017, 12:41:37 AM
The ssh credentials are root/admin not root/root
898  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Cooling Antminer S9 on: December 27, 2017, 12:40:38 AM
Your temps are fine, theres no need to mess with it.
899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining with P5P43TD motherboard on: December 27, 2017, 12:39:43 AM
Bitcoin section.

Reading hard.

Post elsewhere for answers.
900  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 cooling in hot weather on: December 27, 2017, 12:39:12 AM
Wait, yours is running at 100 what? 100*C? turn it off before you destroy it. You should be concerned and finding a solution at 80*C to reduce it, I would be surprised if it lives much longer if you are really that hot.

The chips can run well over 100c. While it is not great, it will not destroy the miner. I have hundreds that run at that temp all summer long with no issues.
