981  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CORONAVIRUS IMPACT ON SPORTS GAMBLING on: July 02, 2020, 10:43:58 AM
That's correct, I read the updates in our very own thread the NBA 2020 Season , but it should not affect the betting as when NBA resume people can bet on any team they like including betting against the Team which has player/s positive from corona virus.

But it is said that the players have the right to say no right? So if they might face against the team, maybe Brooklyn or other teams which have allegedly players that are positive to the virus, they can say no? right. If I am a pro player of a team, I would definitely say no since it is really a gamble. But some superstars have proven that they also look at fans as an important part of the game, I guess they would play since people are actually hoping they will.

Still, I am so scared for them.
982  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CORONAVIRUS IMPACT ON SPORTS GAMBLING on: July 01, 2020, 10:45:44 PM
That would be a disaster. People are actually having a hard time to survive the first wave, how much more if we will be having the second wave. Some people thought that what we have right now is the second wave but as far as I know, we are still in the first wave, that is why I hope 2nd wave doesn't happen anymore. Though medical personnel should be ready for this does or it doesn't happen. That would also mean more delays and cancellations of games again.
Anyway, the NBA will be resuming soon and I can't wait for it to bet on my favorite teams.
Unfortunately, there are some players who tested positive these past few days. Some of them are in Brooklyn and some are in Indiana. Don't know the rest of the players who are tested positive but this may affect the performance of the team and the league as a whole.

The resume of the NBA is 30 days away and many players can get affected still. There are some who choose not to play anymore since it is not necessary that they will play (optional) and they will not get punished. If more and more players will be tested positive within these time frame, I'm afraid that they will decide to just stop the whole season totally.

That is just really unfortunate but I do understand that. They can't just play and follow the new normal since there are other players that are still positive with the virus. I guess we might not really see the continuation of the season in 30 days. That would take them weeks to quarantine and they can't just play after that since as far as I know there will be a follow up test to that.

I guess we will be sticking more to online games or esports betting right now. This is just sad.
983  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19 effect on your country's economy!!! on: July 01, 2020, 08:50:58 PM
Could some one give prediction when covid 19 is over because my country got new victim everyday more than one thousand people above, I think my government look no serious how care with covid 19 virus and very disappointed when other country have success stop covid 19 but my country keep continue going with announcement new victim every day.

Every country has their own ways to say that their government are making wring decisions right and there. Here in our country, a school predicted that the victims might increase at 40K at the start of July, and right now they proven it wrong and they are so happy like the pandemic ended looking at it as a challenge while cases are still increasing everyday.

The thing here is that we are fine with what happened. The prediction didn't happened but the fact that they took that prediction seriously while cases are still increasing and might hit 40k this month is just infuriating.
984  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it possible to live without banks? on: July 01, 2020, 01:42:11 PM
If cryptocurrency will become the world currency then maybe banks will become worthless  but as long as fiat money exist and goverment will continue to use a bank as a central monetary sector then it will stay because people will also depend on a banks especially those who have debit and credit card.

Well, I don't think that bitcoin or other crypto currencies will be accepted as a currency at all. Right now people are using it since with the volatility it has, it can give them profit in a short period of time. The adoption of it might take some time so it might be accepted as a payment in the future but still, I don't think banks will be worthless at that time and the people needed it, not just those with debit and credit card.
985  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A lot of Americans still don't know what Bitcoin is on: July 01, 2020, 12:48:29 PM
Well, that is just normal because not everybody is interested or open-minded to the fact that there are other ways to pay for services or items being bought. It must be rewarding for some to be taught about the Cryptocurrency Industry because as we all know, Bitcoin is really used and really profitable once learnt about. We just need to be open-minded and don't be boastful about the knowledge that he have.

I don't think that they are ignoring it, they are not just aware that crypto currencies exist. If you go to our place, where people are mostly farmers, you can't say that they are not interested or open-minded to it, they not just aware of the technologies that exist these days. They are not updated on what is new and what will be the new thing in the near future, they can't even use a computer nor use their phones to its full capabilities. All they know is that they can call and text through it.
986  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lesson plans about Bitcoin achieved on: July 01, 2020, 11:59:06 AM
So, I made a post about me teaching college students about Bitcoin and it's usage. I asked for  few things that would make up my lesson plans here.https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5259038.msg54708539#msg54708539 The positive replies I got was enough for me. So, I came up with these;

1. General introduction to Bitcoin
2. What it is used for
3. Introduction to a forum dedicated for discussion of Bitcoins named Bitcointalk Forum
4. Mining
5. Digital skills
6. Last week would be used for quizzes and setting up Bitcoin accounts and prizes would be won for serious students among them.

Your criticism is a welcome one too. Embarrassed

Nice plan but I don't think we need number two since that can be tackled with the general introduction to bitcoin since it is specified as "general" introduction. So you could push number 3 to number 2. Since you are doing it online, you could let them access the forum and make assignments from there like for example read a thread and tell about it in the class, something like that.

Although I am still thinking, as a teacher, we don't see this as a lesson plan but just a structure of what you are planning. You are teaching college students so you need to be organized. You need to plan this as well since you said that your topic is Bitcoin and its usage but I don't think you should add Digital skill right there, I don't know about mining since your topic is bitcoin's usage, you should just add that to "general introduction". To be honest, you could just tackle all the things about bitcoin and its usage in number 1.

You should plan this as well as thinking who will benefit from this, how will they benefit, and if you're plan follow SMART method of goal setting by Dr. Locke and Dr. Latham.

Anyway, the NBA will be resuming soon and I can't wait for it to bet on my favorite teams.

I am also excited about this though I am not that updated right now with the current teams. I am still rooting with my Milwaukee Bucks. I've been rooting them since last last year and right now they are leading the eastern conference. I just hope they follow and we adjust on the new normal right now since we might not be seeing any TTs and noisy fans this continuation of the season.
988  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Potential Valorant Esports betting sites on: June 30, 2020, 11:41:23 PM
Just like some other Esports, Valorant is a new game that is popping and it is trending right now in a gaming industry. It is not yet known just like League of Legends, Dota 2, CS:Go and other games that can be used in a betting sites.

It is one of the most popular games being streamed right now, thousands are now playing it since it is easier to play than CSGO. I heard a streamer said that if players are used to CSGO, they can quickly adapt the game and that is why most of the professionals of CSGO are playing the game to be the next pros of this game. As far as I know, we have the first tournament of it and most of them are CSGO pros and as far as I know, Subroza is there.

Wardell is said to be the future face of Valorant, who is a CSGO pro. When the tournaments pop up, and it was considered as an esport, obviously it will be added in betting sites, but I know some sites are already in it.
989  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CORONAVIRUS IMPACT ON SPORTS GAMBLING on: June 30, 2020, 11:23:14 PM
We are close to finding the cure for the coronavirus. China has already received the go-ahead for testing its large-scale phase 3 vaccine in the UAE.
Which shows good hope for overcoming this pandemic.
While so many of us must settle for games without fans. Until the final cure arrives.

I hope we really are. It will still take some time even the vaccine was invented or found. The release of the vaccine to other countries might take a while but I do hope that we can find quickly the vaccine. I am so excited to watch a game again and bet on it. We should be seeing the playoffs now of NBA, that virus is really annoying.

A vaccine can really take a lot of time, in particular testing it. But I'm not sure that we have this time.
The virus is not static, it is able to mutate, which means that while the vaccine is being prepared, there is a danger of a new strain of the virus, which will lead to the need to develop a new vaccine.
The question is whether we had enough of that time while restrictive measures continued to create a full-fledged medicine.

990  Economy / Economics / Re: Lives vs Economy -- sad truth on: June 30, 2020, 09:45:10 PM
The thing here is that the government can't save all lives right now, its a pandemic. There is no actual vaccine to kill the virus. The government is not ready for this and I think most of the countries are not that ready when it comes to medical supplies. They can't undo those people who died, what they can do now is to take care of what they have and rebuild for the sake of who died.
991  Economy / Economics / Re: How in the world we going to restart the world economy ? on: June 30, 2020, 12:17:38 PM
People could start to go back to their jobs now. We can't rely on that free money that the government will give. Either it may not be complete or they might expect something that will not happen. Every big step start with small steps and restarting the economy does not always be the government's initiative but also people will be making that happen.
992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Blockchain a Good Career? on: June 30, 2020, 10:57:51 AM
We have the same goal but I stopped chasing it since I can't focus on teaching now if I will be teaching myself this career. I am not that good in anything that relates to programming. I know someone that also wants to make Blockchain as his career and as far as I know, he is an IT graduate so I think he is good with that. I am not an IT or IS graduate, I don't also know anything about software development. Your possible salary is good but the best thing there is that if you really wanted that career, that should keep you going.
993  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is More Popular Than Traditional Banks on: June 29, 2020, 10:12:12 PM
According to the cyber media Tokenist, based on the results of their survey not long ago. The survey involved 4,852 respondents from 17 countries. According to the survey the number of people who trust Bitcoin more than large banks, increased by 29 percent in the last three years. The survey also showed differences in the generation's views about Bitcoin and traditional banks. 51 percent of millennials trust Bitcoin more than traditional banks.

Millennials will be the future users of bitcoin, and I think it is great for them to be voting bitcoin against these large banks since we all know how hard it is to do something that they can't approve. Still, with that small sample size, I guess in the next results we could do more respondents. I know that is asking much but more sample size means more accuracy and better results.
994  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas Casinos are open - end of the Pandemic era. on: June 29, 2020, 09:27:09 PM
snip..

We can only hope that the vaccine will pass the tests successfully. The world needs a coronavirus vaccine. And I really hope that we will get it in the autumn.
COVID-19 vaccine is still a hot topic to be discussed..  I am optimistic that the vaccine will be found, but for the time being, we all cannot be sure. before the vaccine is really found and spread, we must protect our families against this virus infection.  at this time the US is still the country with the worst COVID-19 patients. Hopefully, with the reopening of casinos in Las Vegas, it doesn't make things worse..

It is still risky for them to open the casinos. Unlike other countries, we all know how people gather in Vegas and how it can be so risky in these times. Cases are still adding up and even though they follow the new normal, they would go out and might be contaminated by the virus outside the casino. It is still better to bet or wage online.
995  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Physical Casinos Decoded : on: June 29, 2020, 11:19:52 AM
You can check forum like reddit to see how man people were kicked our from casinos for no reasons

I read another story. Don't know whether it is real or just an urban legend of sorts but it goes as follows. Some extremely lucky dude in a brick'n'mortar casino hit jackpot three times in a row. Since it was too late to kick him out anyway, the dealer has been disposed of instead for not doing something to stop that lucky bastard halfway

Take this account of events for what it's worth, though

I never thought that it is hard to work in a casino. If that is happening, that is just cruel. The job of the dealer is to manage a table, not to stop people from winning but I guess that is how the casinos work really. Reality is just a cruel place. I have a friend working in the casino in the past but he never said anything about this, maybe this depends on the casino?
996  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think eSport gambling will become more popular than normal Sport betting? on: June 28, 2020, 11:58:30 PM
The thing that makes me wonder that esport would be more popular in terms of betting is the fact that we are under a pandemic right now and that sports are being stopped. But right now that the sports are resuming, I guess sports would still be more popular than esports.

Esports might gain a lot of viewership in the past but I don't think it would compare to the sports for example like in Basketball. People would bet more in basketball than a LoL match. Esports is still growing, but I think big players in the world of gambling might still stick to sports since people might be scared of what we call match-fixing in esports since it is the scandal of it for a long time now.
997  Economy / Economics / Re: Marxism theory Suddenly making sense on: June 28, 2020, 10:59:24 PM
• How about , people who are extremely poor are not required to pay the electricity and gas bills for the time being since during pandemic , literally no one has a job , whereas the subsidised bills can be equally divided into the wealthiest class and they be required to pay the same conditioned that it does not take a toll on their monthly income in any way.

I know that you want them to help and you don't want them to suffer but I hope you could read this. I am from a province in the Philippines and I live in a barangay with a lot of poor people. I am not that rich, not a mid one too but we are doing well compared to them.

People are actually struggling to find a job here not because they can't but because they are comfortable with what they can get. They are earning a minimum and they are actually good with that. We are in a province so that is fine but some of the people in our barangay actually can do better since some of the people here are now working overseas, with their connection they can work under them or work somewhere and live with them but they don't want that.

In terms of help, we have what we call 4Ps, in which poor people will be receiving incentives by helping cleaning our barangay but the thing is they don't look at it as a help, they took it as a job and the money being given to them as their wage. As you expect, people are just waiting for that to happen and don't do that much in their spare time. They are relying on that small amount so much, it is not that bad but I know they could do better.

I know it is risky to work right now but I am observing this in years and years I am living here. They wanted luxurious lives but they don't have the drive to do that and I don't know why. From what you are saying that as rich people just kept on getting richer, I guess that river will be widened more if people are just taking jobs they can and not thinking about what they can do and make their lives better. They'll keep on working under but they didn't know they can work better and earn better than that.
998  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A lot of Americans still don't know what Bitcoin is on: June 28, 2020, 09:56:23 PM
I had two clients from America I want offer graphics designing jobs for, I demanded my payment would be in BitcoinBTC or Ethereum. To my greatest dismay, they were dumfounded on what Bitcoin or Ethereum is. I am still suprised up to this very moment. Cheesy Roll Eyes

If this is in our country, you might not be surprised by it. My countrymen are not that familiar to technologies, even crypto currencies. The Internet is the newest thing for them and if they can access their mobile phones on the internet and surf their Facebook account, they are good. We are a third world country and I am also living in a province, I am used to it.
999  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gaming Industry and Cryptocurrency! on: June 28, 2020, 08:35:29 PM
These are very good advancements for both the Gaming Industry and the Cryptocurrency Industry. It will really boost their popularity due to the fact that people can earn while playing easy/decent games. Would really like to experience this as well in our country which will really be popular if introduced properly.

It is good that crypto currencies are advancing to the gaming indistry but I don't think people would be playing it unless they make it a decent game. There are a lot of people that are actually earning money by playing, we call them esports professionals and streamers, we also have pilots where people pay them to play their accounts and maybe boost their rank. I know that everyone can't do streaming and becoming a pro, what I am saying here is that the game should be also entertaining and somewhat addictive.
1000  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fortnite Betting? on: June 28, 2020, 12:36:13 PM
There are a lot of them online but I don't like betting on Fortnite or even PUBG. It is not that I dislike them, I play PUBG but in a game where a lot of players are fighting each other, it is hard to easily conclude who/which team will win. Unlike MOBAs where you can analyze a team's game and their opponents game. Like other FPS like CSGO where it is usually the popular esports to bet.

People shifted to e-sports betting because there were no other sports in the last 2 months. However since the other sports are resuming now, most people will bet on those and leave the betting on CS:GO or PUBG. One of my colleague used to bet on https://vulkanbet.com/en/fortnite and even asked me to participate but i never listened him.

Well, that would be true but most of the people that are betting online in these games are actually doing these wages and bets even before the lockdowns and this pandemic started. People betting on these matches might lessen but I don't call that leaving, I might call it going back to normal. Another thing is that they might consider now betting on these games so I don't think all of them will be leaving at all.
