1801  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 17, 2023, 09:19:15 AM
That is just another question in a long list of other questions about exactly what happened. If someone wanted to create a mixer or anonymity based service they should at least have researched about that. As you said, to have hosting based in a jurisdiction that could damage the privacy promises they made to their customers is basically contradictory and counterproductive to their aims.

Well in my point of view if "he" or " them " worked way more professional then why did they choose an " onshore " hosting even if its maybe one out of X servers in their internal structure.

I mean choosing such an jurisdiction for hosting such a website doesnt make any sense. I mean we talk about hetzner which reacts very strict to any kind of abuse against their ToS and chipmixer/crypto falls for sure under their terms.

So imo i think they didnt even work properly from the beginning when choosing the server location. They might have some technical knowledge to setup the infrastructure but they didnt even think twice about the server location itself.

1802  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Procoininvest.com - Ponzi scheme on: March 17, 2023, 12:01:58 AM
This never ceases to amaze.

The number of scams out there will never go down simply because the number of people that fall for them must be high enough for them to recycle the same profit making fake promises to gullible people. I hope people manage to wise up and start avoiding going anywhere near websites that claim to have unbelievable ROI otherwise they will lose the funds they sent to the scammers.

We still are waiting for news that Fury and Usyk have actually put pen to paper. The media are saying it will be officially agreed within days for the fight to take place on 29th April 2023  Grin

Until then, if you have not already asked to participate in the free lottery, just choose a free number because with a 1 in 58 chance of winning someone will win the c.$50 prize.

About indexing, if they make something available are they responsible if it ends up being scam related? Has that ever been tested in any Court?

When the authorities were busy chasing down so-called file sharing websites because movies and songs were being shared, they went after all of them but then left Google (because they owned Youtube) out of the picture when videos, music and movies all copyrighted were available for free on their platform.

I vaguely recall something about an investigation in to the material available on Youtube in the time of it being purchased and about lawsuits against Google but nothing happened partially because the corporations made deals with Google. I could have that wrong.

I remember when people were making the case that search engines and websites (especially Google/Youtube) that were allowing copyright material to be uploaded and linked should be shut down on the lines of pirate video websites therefore using the same analogy I understand why you said that. Google and other search engines allow any nonsense to be indexed and then shared without any fear yet the people who have probably become victims after finding scams and siphoning website directly from hyperlinks have no way to accuse them.
If only... I don't blame them for the indexing. The thing is that anyone can literally pay money to have a scam website linked at the top of the results. I can literally create bitcointalk100realnotscam.com and pay google so my website shows up at the top when someone googles for "bitcointalk".
1805  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1XBIT.COM ᐉ 7 BTC WB ᐉ Altcoin Betting ᐉ no KYC ᕗ Instant payouts on: March 16, 2023, 10:39:59 PM
You addressed the issue in a simple to understand manner therefore those that get their accounts tagged have nothing to complain about. If they decide to sign up they can get some momentary income but after the signature campaign has ended they will be not be able to use their account for any legitimate signature campaign as it would probably have been rendered useless.

Both 1Xbit and their signature campaign members are greedy for money, They just have different ways of earning money/ I'm sure that they are aware that their account will receive a bad rating/red trust if they joined 1Xbvit but they still pursue joining because they are blinded by above average reward of it. Once 1Xbit stop or halt their signature campaign, Their account is literally won't be able o join in majority of signature campaign anymore. Their campaign members are just full of hypocrite people. They are heartless people, They just only care for the money reward they about to get in shilling this scam casino.
1806  Economy / Reputation / Re: Solosanz reputation on: March 16, 2023, 09:40:52 PM
I agree there is no DT mafia but I would not make it exclusively about a group of people who have the same feelings on a particular issue. There are several gangs and cliques here, that cannot be denied. Some do work in unison and in collusion with each other to troll and attack when they want and to push their own agendas, again that has been seen in the forum.

Overall, the race to get to DT1 for some people as well as the 1000 merit for Legendary rank is the driving force behind conduct. I am not making any comment either way on the allegations against Solosanz but you are right, there are members here who say what they want including calling out scams whether they are DT or not.

It's a race if you have an agenda maybe. Some view DT as power. Power to bully, power to threaten, power being in the DT mafia, you have a scam you want to pull off, or power to bring out the real you. Sort of like they gotta be DT to share their personal opinions about a user without facing any drama.

None of that is actually true. You bully or threaten users, you face the possibility of being removed from DT. There is no actual DT mafia, there's just a group of people who have the same feelings on some issues. Every DT member does not agree on everything. Bringing out the real you doesn't need DT status to happen either. If you're an asshole or don't like someone you have the right to let them know. It doesn't have to be a public announcement or anything. People are not stupid on here, most aren't anyways. There are some super intelligent users roaming around this place and if they smell a scam, they'll call you out. DT or not.
1807  Economy / Reputation / Re: How wide reaching can the consequences of Chipmixer money laundering be? on: March 16, 2023, 09:30:54 PM
I believe some mixer owners will get scared, and try to review their privacy level.
That is one outcome, another could be that some could try to simply close shop and move on to other businesses as they could deem it a business not worth carrying on with if the threat of arrest and imprisonment looms over them all the time.

They should first go after Google for receiving money for scam advertising (which happens on a large scale, every single day).

We advertised a service that was good for the people who wanted to protect their privacy. We, like other sane people, do not support and strongly condemn immoral uses of mixers.

You should watch "Coded Bias" on Netflix. It's about AI, but you can still get Big Brother ideas out of it.
Exactly, we all condemn the use of illegal activity but we all would like to have privacy respected.

Thank you about "Coded Bias", I will try to check it out as soon as I have enough time to watch it.

Ideally theymos could clarify whether any US agencies requested information, or if any was provided. Because if he can't, then it'd be an argument for bitcointalk using a canary in future.
Maybe theymos will make a comment on the subject. I hope he does provide clarity on your comments.

I will be reporting the topic after the post.
What a pathetic post Roll Eyes

It's really sad to see this happen, let's see how fair and just the investigation will be.
We all are waiting to see the outcome, let us see how far the FBI are willing to go link Chipmixer to any individual or organisation. As long as a fair and transparent investigation takes place that is all that is expected.

~
What a ridiculous post Roll Eyes

The FBI knows how internet marketing is being done and they never put the liability on the third-party advertisement platform there is not even a ruling on this that we can cite.
I hope the issue stays to the point between FBI vs Chipmixer and that is all. If it gets to a point where campaign participants are targeted it would set a very dangerous precedent on the privacy of forum members and that would be unacceptable to most.
1808  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 16, 2023, 09:01:49 PM
I'm pretty sure ChipMixer never used Cloudflare. Actually, it's in the DoJ's case document that they were very much against CF.
I was under the impression Chipmixer used Cloudflare in the early days after their inception and that proved problematic for the owner. I could be wrong about that though.

In the context of the chain of quotes, they were talking about Sinbad, another competitor, which appears to use Cloudflare.
Mixers using Cloudflare or any DDoS prevention website seems completely counterproductive, it raises the question why they would even consider using those types of service.

My issue is that you can use almost anything to launder money. Gambling sites, physical cash, privacy coins, CoinJoin, and any privacy measure really.
Just like you can plan crimes using privacy-focused messengers or GPG emails.
In both cases, I think that the fact you can abuse a system does not make it a morally bad system. These systems have good intentions and are sometimes vital for many people's lives.
I tend to agree with the notion that just because a service can or could be manipulated or misused does not mean it is morally reprehensible nor that the people operating it are encouraging bad people to participate in criminal activity. Having said that, the most important thing for them to worry about is self-preservation and to take steps to protect themselves from prosecution and for that they need to demonstrate they have at least tried to actively prevent misuse of their service. I mean, there is a fine line behind any mixer such as Chipmixer and any exchange such as Binance.

Who knows, maybe in the coming months or years Binance will be suffering the same fate with allegations of money laundering against their owner Changpeng Zhao, that eventuality does not seem impossible.
1809  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2022/2023 on: March 16, 2023, 08:49:36 PM
I am very happy for Potter especially after losing the first leg of their Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund but winning the second leg and qualifying for the quarter-finals. As for their win against Leicester City, they need to keep the momentum going as it will help them off to a good start at the beginning of next season.

Chelsea are 11 points off 4th place therefore the only realistic way they can participate in the Champions League next season is by winning the competition this season. That might not be as unrealistic a scenario as first expected.

After maintaining a really bad form for a long time Chelsea finally started to win in the league. They even won by 3-1 against Leicester which must be some help for them to continue scoring goals like this. Because their biggest problem has been with scoring goals comfortably despite finding so many opportunities to score. It is still early to trust them of course but who knows maybe this result would help them get better.

Qualifying for the Champions League is not a realistic goal for Chelsea anymore. But they can at least finish the season at a better position. They are doing much better in the Champions League though but I don't know how far they can go.

YoMix, how do you feel about what happened to Chipmixer with the FBI seizing their website and putting out an international arrest warrant for the owner? Personally I think it is inevitable that all mixers will have their domains seized and the owners will end up arrested or on the run while an international arrest warrant is on their names. Do you worry about being next investigated and possibly charged with money laundering and other crimes?
1811  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 16, 2023, 08:23:03 PM
It does make you think about such a high level on anonymity on part of Chipmixer yet they decided to use Cloudflare. Why would they do that if they were serious about anonymity?

If Chipmixer was run by an individual then he might not have covered all possible areas of anonymity even if he tried. Apart from the PayPal issue there were other clues that he left behind that got him caught which shows he probably did not have a team with him. Using Cloudflare had advantages but not for any anonymity based website.

It was inevitable at some stage money would be laundered through Chipmixer as they will be through virtually all mixers therefore the service is too risky to operate. The accusations made by the FBI are serious and after he is eventually arrested he will probably serve a very long sentence as the law enforcement agencies would want to make an example of him.

Not a good idea to go through Cloudflare, which decrypt and cache the whole traffic, if we want to really improve our privacy..
I'm neither in favor of Cloudflare, but I'm not quite sure what's the problem if you're behind Tor-- besides of course the fact that it's a pain in the ass to complete the captcha (if any). I'm not an expert on this field, but isn't there a problem with DDoS-ing non-protected websites? I remember ChipMixer getting down for maintenance quite frequently in the past.
I think the problem is that everything you see they can also see. Basically, Cloudflare knows every step of your mixing process, and we all know that Cloudflare is a single email from handling all the data to a 3 letters agency (as we learned through ChipMixer, evidenced by the DoJ paper - P.S I'm just explaining what I read, don't sue me Mr DoJ, tyvm)
1812  Other / Archival / Re: Sinbad.io Mixer - secure, fast and easy to use on: March 16, 2023, 05:27:29 PM
That might not have been their only mistake, as the days unfold maybe other errors will be publicised too and it will make interesting reading to read up on how the FBI and other agencies managed to pinpoint him. I did not know about his PayPal error until you mentioned it, I have not looked too deeply in to the circumstances on the Chipmixer website being seized but need to have a full read up.

I was curious about how the OP felt about what happened with Chipmixer because it is a possibility he could possibly end up on the FBI most wanted website and have an international arrest warrant out on him.

To be fair, ChipMixer did a massive mistake by using his real name on one of the PayPal accounts (while using a bunch of puppet accounts with mastering). It seems like one could survive even longer if no mistakes were made.
1813  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: ✅💳Get A Anonymous Crypto Debit Card | KYC-FREE - CoinPayCard.net 💳✅ on: March 16, 2023, 05:15:13 PM
The OP last logged in on 1st March 2023 but has not posted about what has happened. Their website is still up and running which means it has the potential to make long list of victims and that is certainly not a good thing.

If any of the victims contact the domain registrar to report a fraud then they will seize the domain, though he could set up the whole scam again using a different domain it might be worthwhile to disrupt his scam operation even if temporarily.

1814  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2022/2023 on: March 16, 2023, 05:06:54 PM
RESULTS:

Brighton and Hove Albion 1-0 Crystal Palace
Southampton 0-2 Brentford

The games played yesterday boosted Brighton as they attempt to finish the season in the top four and also were problematic for Southampton as they are rooted to the bottom of the league table. If Brighton win their games in hand they will be equal 4th place alongside Tottenham. As for Southampton, they can climb out of the relegation zone with just one win.

Still everything to play for this season.

How wide reaching can the consequences of Chipmixer money laundering be?

Now that Chipmixer has shut down and an international arrest warrant been issued for their owner, how do you feel about possibly suffering the same fate?

Chipmixer was probably the biggest mixer before it was unceremoniously seized a couple of days ago by the US authorities along with a lot of help from international agencies including Germany which seized physical servers and $46 million worth of crypto.

If international authorities can shut Chipmixer down they can shut down any mixer therefore what are your views on the whole matter?
1816  Economy / Reputation / How wide reaching can the consequences of Chipmixer money laundering be? on: March 16, 2023, 04:45:36 PM
EDITED: Chipmixer has been seized by the FBI and a warrant for arrest issued for the owner/operator.

I have obfuscated the real name of the owner/operator of the Chipmixer website by replacing what appears on the FBI website with XXX instead. The original images of the FBI website and most of the original OP here will be moved to the Investigations board.

The FBI website states this about him:

Remarks:
XXX has basic training in cryptographic engineering and previously worked in decrypting communications and cyber reconnaissance. In 2016, XXX earned a PhD in electronic engineering in Taiwan.

Caution:
XXX is wanted for his alleged direct involvement in stealing identities and engaging in money laundering activity in furtherance of obfuscating and facilitating the functionality of the ChipMixer service.  Through this conduct, XXX has allegedly facilitated the laundering of approximately $3 billion USD worth of Bitcoin.  A large portion of the funds are directly associated with the victimization of people worldwide through ransomware attacks, cryptocurrency heists, the purchase of illicit drugs, the distribution and production of child sexual abuse material, and other crimes.

On March 14, 2023, XXX was charged with Money Laundering, Operating an Unlicensed Money Transmitting Business, and Identity Theft in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest.

-----------

What signal does this international operation to seize Chipmixer send out to other mixers? I am no expert but as far as I can see, in the end, they all will be marked by various international agencies for eventual seizing and the arrest and trial of their owners and employees.

According to news outlets, German authorities seized servers and crypto worth $46 million. US authorities have accused Chipmixer of laundering over $3 billion since 2017. If international authorities will try to seize all funds related to Chipmixer as they are deemed to be illicit, then it is possible that an attempt could be made by authorities to retrieve all the funds that have been paid out as signature campaign fees as they have effectively promoted/advertised the service.

This could end up being very messy for a lot of members in the forum that participated in their signature campaigns if the FBI and US justice department decide to force forum members to repay all the money they received from Chipmixer as signature campaign income.

How do those that participated in the Chipmixer signature campaign feel about this? Do you think you will be asked to repay all the money you received for promoting Chipmixer since the FBI and other international agencies have attributed them to money laundering?
1817  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ FOOTBALL: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 on: March 16, 2023, 03:09:40 PM
RESULTS:

Napoli 3-0 Eintracht Frankfurt (Agg: 5-0)
Real Madrid 1-0 Liverpool (Agg: 6-2)

After the battering Liverpool received in the first leg it was inevitable Real Madrid would go through to the next round. Liverpool have to try to use this season as a learning experience and try better next season. If they knew they were not going to win the Premier League (and knew they were going to struggle to fight for a top four finish), they should have pushed very hard to challenge Real Madrid but they basically fell flat.

Liverpool need a rebuild of their squad, they have young talent coming through but they need to sell or part with senior players such as Milner, Henderson and ask themselves why they allowed Salah to earn the record amount of money he is getting when he is playing awful football.

Congratulations to Chelsea, Benfica, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Real Madrid and the three Italian teams in the competition Inter Milan, AC Milan and Napoli.

^  It looked like an easy bet for Real Madrid on paper but the match was kinda a grueling watch.  It's like You knew a goal was coming but after the first half, I couldn't watch anymore as I was getting on edge and had some things to get done irl.  Was glad to see a goal before the match ended.  Lol...  Sad to see Liverpool go but they really had a low chance of getting back with a three goal deficit on aggregate and with the match at the Bernabeu.  If it was at Anfield, maybe...  At Madrid, low chance imho.

Anyway...  Draw for the quarter finals will be on Friday.

Well, Haaland scored 5 as Manchester City won 7-0. Could this be the year they win the Champions League?

Chelsea, Benfica, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Inter Milan have all qualified for the quarter-finals. I think it is a foregone conclusion that Napoli and Real Madrid will join them.

Here are the games being played this evening:

Napoli vs Eintracht Frankfurt (Agg: 2-0)
Real Madrid vs Liverpool (Agg: 5-2)

That is life when it comes to business and business dealings, it is all about money. Sure there is prestige at stake as well as a history-in-the-making event such as a unification fight but if the correct money is not on the table or if the split is not acceptable the fight will not go ahead.

Until they actually get it on in the ring, I suppose we will have to keep on reading those funny comments from Fury to keep us busy  Grin

Again is all about how to split the money and this is the reason why most fights such as this one never really happen till now. They really need to make this fight as soon as possible and if they really want it to happen, it will gonna happen considering the fight that will gonna take place this May between Garcia and Davis. We see that they are the only ones who are not serious about it for whatever reasons they have, people are tired to hear it and if they wanted not to fight, they could have just been silent about it not to make any hype for a fight that will never gonna happen anyway.

Whether it was Jordan or Usyk, he made comments in true Tyson Fury fashion, he said: "I can’t wait, I’m in the best shape of my life, I’m fucking ready to rock and troll, I wish it was this weekend. Usyk you gappy-teeth, ugly, bug-eyed, rabbit, cat, ugly piece of s***, you are getting knocked the f*** out"

Whether it is 70/30 with or without the £1 million donation or any other split, most fans are tired of the delay and simply want to see the unification fight to take place.
