But back to the title question, there have been several anarchic or nearly such societies in history. Three I can think of off the top of my head. Medieval Iceland and Ireland, and surprisingly, given my experience living here, Pennsylvania prior to the establishment of the Commonwealth.
Pennsylvania was full anarchy. The only difference (and what allowed it to be taken over) is that the Quakers were full-on pacifists, rather than the "porcupine pacifist" of a N.A.P. respecting anarchy.

Yeah. Now its a nearly perfect example of the end result of a collectivist society. Like the Borg, without the intellect. I am so glad to be LEAVING!!!

You, your source material, Rudy, and Ron don't, according to me, get to to exclusively decide how an agenda driven 'standard english' works.
Nor was I trying to. "freedom" has a meaning, agreed up on for many, many years:
Quote
free·dom
/ˈfrēdəm/
Noun
  • The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.
  • Absence of subjection to foreign domination or despotic government.
This can be "distilled" down to a very simple phrase: "absence of coercion."

Quote
an·ar·chy
/ˈanərkē/
Noun
Absence of government and absolute freedom of the individual, regarded as a political ideal.

Quote
cap·i·tal·ism
/ˈkapətlˌizəm/
Noun
An economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit.
These meanings do not sufficiently convey the depth of the subject matter they are intended to encapsulate and limit.
Then you're trying to cram too much meaning into the word. This is why new words are created, to hold the excess meaning, when the old word is insufficient to convey the concept. Or clarifying words can be added, for instance, your concept of "capitalism" is more properly "State capitalism" and edges into the "new" words "corporatism" or "fascism."

"Anarcho-capitalism" is much easier to write than "free market anarchy with strong individual property rights," but it conveys the same meaning, because capitalism is a free market system, with strong property rights, and adding "anarcho-" to that indicates that indicates that it is an anarchy, and thus all rights are held by the individual..
I agree with this. For a while on YouTube I used the term market anarchist, but it doesn't convey the meaning nearly as well. Besides, I got tired of trying to please people rather than making my point.

But back to the title question, there have been several anarchic or nearly such societies in history. Three I can think of off the top of my head. Medieval Iceland and Ireland, and surprisingly, given my experience living here, Pennsylvania prior to the establishment of the Commonwealth.

However, lack of full historical precedent is a pretty weak argument as to whether or not it should be tried. I am on a mobile device @ the moment, but when I have a proper keyboard I am going to start a thread on that very subject.

Glock elbow watermelon Chinese macaroni chicken?
Roughly translated,
"Imtrolololllinandnobodycanstopme.exe"
No, I'm asking you a legitimate question. Respond to it, if you would please. Or, admit you can't understand the question because I've made up definitions of the words I used to suit my own desires, and thus ruined any possibility of communicating.

Nah. Glock ain't got enough recoil to hurt your elbow unless you're really small, and watermelons don't go well with macaroni. At least in my experience.
Why can't anyone understand what I'm saying? That answer makes no sense, using the definitions of the words I have decided on!

I guess I will just have to explain them to you, since nobody gets the meanings I chose.
"Glock" is an interrogatory, indicating that the speaker desires to know the reason for the specified actions.
"elbow" is a verb, meaning take the trouble to do something.
"watermelon" is a preposition, used in conjunction with "elbow" to indicate the subject of the sentence.
"Chinese" is a noun, and the first part of the subject of my question, denoting the language we are currently using.
"macaroni" is a plural noun, and the second part of the subject of my question, indicating the single distinct meaningful elements of speech or writing.
"chicken" is an adverb, used in this case to mean "since that is so." It modifies "elbow."
So, I ask again, if you're going to pick out of thin air the meaning of the words you use, glock elbow watermelon Chinese macaroni chicken?

Actually, my reply was intended to make your point more than anything else. Since it was arbitrary, I cherry picked. Mostly for lolz.

FED is going to end its QEI sometime during this year, that will also impact the available risk capital in the market

Not a chance.  They might scale it back but they won't pull the rug from under the house of cards.  They're going to keep printing because it's all they know.

I think you're right. In fact, as long as Alan Greenspan's hand picked dick sucker clone mini-me successor is the head of the Fed, it's pretty well guaranteed. But the last time they came to this loggerheads and started pissing their pants they got Paul Volker. It could happen again. The Dollar has (so far) been absolutely the most successful long con in history.

If they're going to keep it running longer, they have to raise interest rates and slow inflation at some relatively near point. Bernanke ain't got the balls to do it, but there are others who might. Obama isn't the sharpest economic tool in the shed, but he is astute at reading the writing on the wall. Never count out the Imperial ability to spin and duck.

Of course, there is one other way to prop up the dollar and still inflate. Another two branches of goverment, one euphemistically called 'defense' and the other called Intelligence, have been setting the stage for world war III for some time. If they choose that option, this time the USA will be Germany. Since it's military presence is already global, that could be real ugly, but it would postpone the destruction of the dollar. It also is EASY to raise the apathy of the American public to bloodlust without thought. Anyone who don't believe me, just look at the evidence from September 12, 2001.

I frankly think that overt attacks on the bitcoin are unlikely at this time. Regulatory horseshit like what they've done to Mt. Gox, yes. They'll make the big exchanges play ball. But that doesn't change a lot, and in some ways makes it easier to subvert and or bypass the dollar economy. I suspect that such attacks will strengthen the bitcoin, and perhaps some of it's variants as well. I'm long on this one.

The problem with Bernanke, from day one, is that he's fighting the wrong war.  He's a student of the Great Depression (liquidity crisis) and is very well versed in how to combat this problem, however, this is not the problem we are facing today.  We have a problem of solvency, not liquidity, which is why all this money printing is doing nothing to help the situation.  He mistakenly thinks he's fighting the same war but this is an entirely different animal.  It would be similar to thinking because water put out a house fire, now I should use water on this grease fire.  All fires are not the same and in the case of a grease fire, water actually makes things worse.  Maybe his successor will realize this but I'm not very hopeful.

LMFAO@ the grease fire analogy. Well put, sir, well put.

As to the last, I'm very hopeful. I am hoping you are right, as the failure of the dollar is also the failure of the Empire that backs it. There will come a point, as there has in every other fiat money regime, when the merchants will say "fuck the legal tender laws" and refuse to do business in USD. That point, not the bonds, inflation, deflation, miscegenation, ad nauseam from DC is what will end the dollar. Then, if history is to be believed, a hard money standard will likely emerge once again. Bitcoin is the only real variable I see in that. It's neither hard money OR government fiat. It might have a REALLY important future.

I'm going to release the firmware and driver code once it's working. I was thinking of all that stuff to protect it but to be honest that's just is a hassle. I'm going to just trust that people will choose to support the vendors that kick back a small fee. Or even better maybe they'll mine a few hours for me by their own choice. I'll put the mine-to address out there when it's time. I'm getting a lot of help/support from forum members here and I think it's better to respect that by not having locked code at all.

Bravo for the effort and for the spirit. World surely need more people like you are.
24 hrs mining time donations would be fair thing to propose.

I'm down with that. Even if I go with a different product, as I think this should be rewarded. And a bit to the cgminer crew as well, since I intend to use their miner.

If CC/Paypal was added, you would have a large advantage over competition and questions of legitimacy would probably fall off substantially.

But then we'll have to fix price in USD, something we don't want to do.

Have you considered bitpay? This isn't an endorsement, I know next to nothing about them. But they are supposed to allay some of the inherent suspicions and distrust while working WITHIN the realm of bitcoin.

I too am interested in assembly.

I am in the process of moving (back) to Idaho, so my question is twofold. One, are you anywhere near the Boise area, and if yes, would face to face pickup be possible?

Kevin.

I'm up north, close to Spokane and Coeur d' Alene, and face to face pickup will be available to whoever would like to come out here.

I should have solidified assembly plans next week.

Best,
Garrett

Cool! I should be moved in a couple of weeks, and I'll see where things are at. Definitely very interested. I have family up that way, so I could make it a dual purpose trip.

O_o

so you think forcing someone not to give his price to something he owns is fine?

you think keeping an inflated official price is fine?

welcome to Argentina.
Were people are using Bitcoins to get rid of regulations like yours.

Can't speak for wolf0, but since I was involved in that little exchange, I wish to make it clear I was just having a bit of fun. People can sell their shit at any price that seems reasonable to them.

Personally, I think that these little coins are likely to flare up and die in short order. I like this one, and will not in any way deliberately sabotage it, but let's face it: It has no IMMEDIATE value. It might at some point, or it might not.

As for using bitcoin to bypass or bring down regulation, in that you have my FULL support. I'm an anarchist, and I despise regulators. They have no purpose except to fuck up the works of commerce to their gain and the actual producer's loss. Besides that, if it works in Argentina, it at least has a shot at working here in the Empire.
3531  Economy / Economics / Re: This week has given me pause: I'm getting out of BTC on: May 31, 2013, 08:20:45 AM
I'm a bit of a newbie. I've been peripherally aware of bitcoin since it launched, but due to personal issues didn't pay much attention.

Stupid of me. I would have made a mint, and it's interesting to boot.

I've spent the last several weeks researching the idea and the implementation of crypto coins. I do NOT think now is a good time to get out, though profit taking is probably a good idea.

The USD is under fire from every imaginable direction, whereas bitcoin, so far, has a few regulatory hurdles to be a viable currency WITHIN the USA, and has jumped a lot of those hurdles or bypassed them altogether outside of the Empire. I'm definitely an Austrian when it comes to economics, and I don't see the dollar surviving it's own cheering squad. When "the Maestro" was in charge of the fed, maybe. Or Volker. But Bernanke? He's a one trick pony, and that trick already failed. He's out of ammunition, both intellectually and actually. Right this moment I see the dollar as a more dangerous investment than the bitcoin.

I think, if your profit taking is good enough, that you would be wise to diversify far beyond the dollar. Physical precious metals, other currencies, ag futures, land if you can find it at market value (I.E. not in the USA), and yes, cryptocurrency. Not just BTC.

Well, that's my take on it anyway. YMMV.

Each K16 have a power connector, power plug or suggestions 2.5/5.5mm Type D Molex power connector.
Each K16 has a PCI Express power connector. That's the 6 pin standard one seen on most PCI Express cards, and commonly available on ATX power supplies. Molex adapters are cheaply available, as are PCIe splitters, but be sure to use ones that have thick enough wire to handle 4A without getting hot.
ATX power only two PCI Express power connectors, how can connect 16 K16?

I'm new to this myself, but I think you can buy a molex to PCIe adapter.
Or.. Like BKKCoins said.. sɹǝʇʇıןds ǝsn

Sorry people for these two morons posting rubbish in your threads.
They seem to like posting crap based on delusions and have a general reality check problem.

Oy.

Kano is like a spoiled entitled little child/ brat, you know the type:

Take candy away (that he just assume he deserves) and watch him throw an epic tantrum all the while screaming that he is right about X and he deserves Y with a complete disregard for everyone but himself.
Truly an awful individual who deserves to be roasted every time he opens his mouth to have his latest cry.

Disagree. He seems a bit reactionary, but he also is partially responsible for the code that the majority of us are mining with. What little I've seen of him, when not in a shouting match with a couple of people, has been pretty helpful.

He is helping BkkCoins with coding, trying to have CGminer ready to go on the klondike boards. I'm a newbie, and Cgminer is so far the ONLY software that worked the way it says it will (including the supposedly "newbie friendly" GUIminer frontend). So he wants to gain from his efforts. So do I. So do you, most likely. Being irritable doesn't make you an awful person.

And you can be a felon for mouthing off to a cop. Which ALL cops deserve. Yes, I know that is not directly relevant to this case. I'm just sayin' that in the modern Imperial court, Felon don't mean much, morally speaking.

Sorry if I missed a post before this, but I'm taking it at face value (so if I come out looking like a fool, so be it, it wouldn't be the first time  Tongue).  Are you suggesting that it's a felony to swear at a police officer (which it's not)?  Also I don't get where the dislike for all police comes from.  I know I'm probably missing something here but I had to post this anyway just in case.

Technically, it's not a felony to tell a cop to get bent. But he/she/it can and will make something up (usually "resisting arrest" even where there was neither resistance nor arrest) and will be believed one thousand percent by the Infernal Repairs department. And he can/will beat the shit out of you and get away with it.

My dislike for all police is simple enough. I could just cite 44 years of living in a crumbling Empire, but I'll be more specific. I dislike criminal gangs, regardless of WHAT mafia they belong to. Anyone who still thinks that police are there to protect anyone BUT governments and their favored subjects (i.e. NOT the commoners) either needs to get off the happy pills or get out more. I have no real fear of other gangs, as I've no intention of stepping on their turf. But cops are just about always looking for trouble, so as to exacerbate it. They are above the law in all but a few "throw the people a bone" cases. They routinely get away with murder (as documented daily) and they make boastful claims about how dangerous their jobs are.

I could go on for pages citing chapter and verse, but instead I'll leave you with a name to google. William Norman Grigg.

Only "elected" officials get my ire more than cops. It's an immoral profession.

People who live in places that have dysfunctional police departments tend to hate all police.

I would prefer dysfunctional. Unfortunately in the USA they function all to well. The problem is the function they serve is not the function they claim.
