Hello everybody

I want to give out a few Coldkeys to different reputed and trusted users, for free.
That way, knowledgeable people can review the card and share their impressions with the rest of the community.


So far, I have made and intend to ship 3 "BITCOINTALK-TEST" Coldkeys.
These have our prototype design on them, are embossed, and come with a generic security hologram sticker.
Before shipping, I will emboss the username of the person the card is destined to. These are not intended for resale.

If you receive one of the vouch Coldkeys, please fully test it.
You can load it and redeem it, or peel it and just try the private key. Please post pictures of it afterwards !
I will be sending only one per person. (If you want to conduct different kind of tests, please indicate it, so I may ship more than one to you.)

I am looking for different people, with different sets of technical skills and knowledge (chemicals, blades, wear, abrasion ...)
If you are interested to test our Coldkeys, please reply to this thread.

We would be very happy to offer special Coldkeys, designed by and for the Bitcointalk community.
That batch would have no minimum order quantity. And if we are to do this, a design contest should be held on the forum, with users voting for their favorite design.
The whole batch can be loaded with an amount of bitcoin to be determined later, or come unfunded.
With the designing and production delays, I feel safe to say that shipping will occur sometime within two months after the GO.

Coldkey cards are secure cold wallets in the shape of a card.
A few features :
- tamper-evident : the physical card state changes when the private key is accessed.
- serialization : each Coldkey has it's own and unique serial number.
- enhanced authentication : with a plain text AuthKey and a UV one, Coldkeys are easily authenticated and it is very difficult to counterfeit them.
- bech32 addresses : save ~40% on bitcoin fees !

D'accord. Je comprend mieux l'origine et la nécessité du système de réserve fractionnaire, quand il s'inscrit dans ce contexte historique.
Comprendre et cautionner sont deux choses distinctes, et je ne suis toujours pas d'accord avec ce qui a été fait.
Je pense qu'il y avait d'autres pistes à explorer pour résoudre ce problème.
Nous ne sommes pas à cette époque, et je suis sur qu'il y a un tas de choses qui nous échappent. Aujourd'hui, on ne peut faire qu'un constat.

J'ai du mal à saisir ta définition de déflation (et déflationniste). Qu'est-ce qui la caractérise ? Pour moi, c'est l'inverse de l'inflation.
La thésaurisation crée elle de la déflation ? Les unités restent "quelque part" et au final, dans la comptabilisation, ça ne change que l'agrégat de masse monétaire.
Elles ne sont pas détruites comme dans le cas du remboursement d'un crédit. Je me trompe peut être, mais l'inflation et la déflation pour moi se détermine qu'à la création de nouvelles unités, ou la destruction d’unités existantes.
Si il y'a plus de création que de destruction => Inflation.
Si il y'a plus de destruction que de création => Déflation.
La valeur de l'unité, et donc in fine, le pouvoir d'achat, est simplement une conséquence de ces dynamiques.

Au final, ce n'est que la constat de la gestion des unités qui va déterminer si la tendance est inflationniste ou déflationniste.
En tout cas, c'est comme ça que je le vois.

Mais maintenant, avec bitcoin qui possédera à terme une masse monétaire fixe et connue, le problème qui s'est posé avec l'or ne se pose plus.
Comment ça ? Hé bien, je n'ai jamais vu de pièce d'or qui contient 1µg d'or pur, et qu'on puisse vérifier facilement ce fait.

Il vaut peut être mieux une inflation qu'une déflation, je suis tout à fait d'accord, mais le mieux est de n'avoir ni l'une ni l'autre.
Quelque chose de nouveau est en train de naître. Je crois fortement que Bitcoin résoudra ces problèmes de lui même, étant donné sa nature "élastique".

Very nice coins and I like the golden ratio too.
However, when it comes to collectibles, even more so with casascius coins, overfunding it may depreciate it's premium value.
Simply because the coin is not in it's original state, the state it was in when it left Mike.

This motivates us even further to come up with solutions to increase the security & authenticity of Coldkeys.
Hopefully someday, Coldkeys will be considered as a very safe and serious way to securily store crypto outside of an electronic device.

AuthKeys are a great way to prove the authenticity of Coldkeys.
However, if an AuthKey leaks, a malicious person could massively reproduce one card in particular, and those would be valid in the Authentication tool.
Also, it is a bit of a constraint put on people holding Coldkeys if we ask them to be careful with the AuthKey.
We want you to be able to freely take pictures and share them with everyone, so an extra security step was indeed necessary.

Other than that, everything is going by the schedule.
The shipping of the Genesis Edition Coldkeys is planned to start in approximatively a month.

Je ne suis pas tout à fait d'accord.
Il faut apporter des précisions.

C'est pas une question de lobby chez Bitcoin qui bloque quoi que ce soit, c'est juste très très difficile de parvenir à un accord car la majorité des participants se satisfait de la façon dont le réseau fonctionne aujourd'hui.

La décentralisation, elle, est bien réelle. Les pools ne servent qu'à agréger de la puissance de calcul afin de baisser la variance de la récompense des mineurs individuels.
(Au lieu d'avoir un block de 12.5BTC tout les 36 du mois, bah t'en a un petit peu à chaque block)

Mais dès que la pool se fait la malle, la puissance de calcul existe, elle ne disparait pas. Elle appartient au mineur qui est libre de rejoindre une autre pool si il souhaite, ou de solo miner (quasi impossible).

Il y'a beaucoup de principes qui se mélangent dans ce thread, alors qu'il faut au contraire bien séparer chaque aspect.
Certes ça fera des vagues si jamais le 1M BTC de satoshi bouge, mais ce n'est pas un élément qui montre que bitcoin est "centralisé".

En fait, je pense qu'il y a des éléments à chercher au niveau historique.
A mon avis avec les crypto-monnaies, nous sommes en train de revenir à un "étalon or". Nous allons vers un "étalon bitcoin" imo.

L'or fonctionnait très bien.
Une des difficulté qu'il a rencontré, et je pense que c'est ça qui a précipité son délaissement en tant que moyen d'échange de valeur, c'est que pour qu'il y aie plus de liquidité (plus de "valeur") il fallait trouver plus d'or !
La croissance était quelque part limitée par la quantité d'or qui était nouvellement découverte.

Ainsi, l'échange de valeur sous forme de certificat de dépôt d'or a pris peu a peu le pas sur l'échange d'or.
C'est toujours plus pratique d'échanger des papiers qu'un sac lourd. C'est pareil pour le transport.

C'est grace à la mise en place d'or "papier" que de gros chantiers, tels que la construction des navires pour la conquête des Amériques, ont pu être financés.
Hah oui, c'est aussi à cette époque que le système de réserve fractionnaire fait ses premiers pas, et notre système financier découle directement de ces évènements.

Maintenant ... Je fait le corollaire entre l'or et bitcoin.
Bitcoin est beaucoup plus "dynamique" que l'or.
Par exemple, si il n'y a pas "assez" de bitcoin pour que tout le monde puisse transacter avec, en augmentant le nombre de décimales (en introduisant le fractionnement de satoshis, par exemple) on peut artificiellement augmenter la "masse monétaire" pour permettre à chaque personne de participer, sans que ça se fasse au détriment des autres participants.
Bitcoin partage beaucoup des propriétés de l'or (quantité limitée, vérifiable, transférable ...) voir même plus. Bitcoin est beaucoup moins facilement falsifiable que l'or.

Aujourd'hui, les raisons pour lesquelles on a eu besoin du fiat, historiquement, n'existent plus.
Il n'y a rien eu, aucun autre phénomène mondial qui soit aussi proche du fonctionnement de l'or, que bitcoin.


Oui. Comme la quantité d'or est finie sur terre, l'or qu'il reste sous terre devient de plus en plus compliqué à sortir (pépite plus petites, mines plus profonds ...) car on en a déjà extrait la majeure partie.
A moins de découvrir de nouveaux filons, le minage d'or devient hardcore.

Ouais, c'est un peu ça grosso modo.
Y'a pas vraiment de "retour", c'est juste qu'il consomme 1.75BTC des 2 transactions en entrée, et de cette "masse" de BTC il en alloue 1.5BTC en sortie pour là ou tu veux, et ce qui reste sera attribué à une nouvelle adresse de ton portefeuille.

Il ne consomme pas le total du solde non plus.
Imaginons que tu aie reçu une transaction de 5BTC, une de 1BTC et une de 0.75BTC. Dans l'exemple ou tu fait une transaction sortante a 1.5BTC, il devrait normalement utiliser l'entrée avec 5BTC.
Envoie 1.5 et 3.5 à une nouvelle adresse à toi

Autrement, avec la fonctionnalité "Coin Control" qu'il y'a dans Bitcoin Core, tu peux choisir exactement quel "entrée" tu veux utiliser pour ta transaction.

I agree as we should all be seeking higher standards. Also, I do not believe that the said "higher standard" is an excuse to act that way.
Honestly, I believe that mistakes happens and that Vod had a momentarily lack of clarity. It happens to everybody, even the bests.

Has it happened already in the past ? Not as far as I can tell.
The situation will also be very different if it happens that Vod doxes another member again in the future.

I still believe Vod brings more good than bad to the forum.

This is not what I was saying. I was saying that Vod's actions were more beneficial overall for bitcoin and the community, and that making a mistake is not a reason for removing it all.

I am sorry for any assumption, but are you saying that it is better to make known the fact that Vod can doxx an individual after a span of several years of vendetta ;

I still believe that disagreements or fights of this type are not necessary, but what is done is done.
I don't condemn or approve of what was done so far ; all I see are the ripple effects.

And on top of that, that doesn't remove the facts that he is a very active contributor, that the vast majority of feedbacks left by Vod are very effective against scammers, thus protecting more naive members.
Errors and mistakes happen. What is worst is to be blind towards it and be in denial. Vod isn't.
