1581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin versus Banks on: August 28, 2022, 11:43:05 AM
Bitcoin is too perfect for its own good. Humans are definitely far from being perfect. We lie, we get jealous, we don't want to get punished for our mistakes.

That's why bitcoin will never be as big as banks because humans will always prefer corruption&lies over perfection&honesty.

I am sorry but banks will win this one.
1582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin talk and Satoshi Nakamoto on: August 27, 2022, 06:49:55 AM
You can't find satoshi anymore.

Upon his death, we buried his body on a green hill full of flowers looking down a river. The place is known only by the early adopters of this forum and they won't let you go anywhere near because we don't want any newbies disturbing the memory of our prophet. Now go away in peace and forget satoshi ever lived here.
1583  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this the Extreme of Gambling Addiction? on: August 27, 2022, 05:24:56 AM
So I was surfing the gamblingnews.com website to get the latest information in the gambling world. I found this interesting story which I kept pondering on to understand whether this is the extreme or a new dimension of gambling addiction or not. I am tempted to think that it is because the gang according to the news, targets only businesses that have video poker and video gaming machines. And so far they have stolen a total of $400K from gambling machines. The logic behind my conclusion is that, if people who are addicted to gambling would do anything at all costs to win money and for this group they have gone the extreme of breaking and stealing the monies in these gaming machines. This behaviour should be on the far end of the continuum of gambling addiction. Below is the story1.
...

Sounds about right. Drug addicts do the same thing too. When they run out of money they start stealing from other people. Gambling, alcohol, drugs... all of these might cause serious addiction. Stealing itself is also another addiction. It is called "Kleptomania".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kleptomania

Quote
Kleptomania is the inability to resist the urge to steal items, usually for reasons other than personal use or financial gain. First described in 1816, kleptomania is classified in psychiatry as an impulse control disorder.[2] Some of the main characteristics of the disorder suggest that kleptomania could be an obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorder, but also share similarities with addictive and mood disorders.[3][4]

Sometimes a kleptomaniac person is also a gambling addict. Double K.O.  Cool Maybe that's the guy in your story.

Most people have weak minds, they will get addicted to anything very easily. You just give them a taste and it is over.
1584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who are your favorite dealers ? on: August 27, 2022, 04:25:14 AM
My favorite dealer are attractive women if I’m being completely honest lol. It sure makes things a little better when I’m going through a bit of a cold streak. However I really try and avoid casinos games with live dealers. Something about them I just don’t trust all that much, I’d rather have an electronic dealer personally.

Attractive women make this life bearable for men. Business owners know this too. I generally choose to do business with the establishments where there are more attractive young women because it is men’s nature to do so. :/ I can’t believe I am letting my dick taking over my brains but what can I do? It is the will of god that created men this way.

Whenever I think about live dealers, I remember the movie “casino” and how Joe Pesci treated the dealer there. It was hilarious.
1585  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake and odd provider's limits !!!!!! on: August 24, 2022, 08:44:39 PM
Hello,

Since I started betting on Stake I have rarely been disappointed, they have very good promotions, good odds, etc...

But recently, I cannot place a single bet, my stake is almost always rejected (too high). The support told me that unfortunately they cannot do much about it as it is the odd provider that fix limits for an event and for each user. Even on big events just like premier league games I cannot bet with a stake more than 0.2 mBtc (when it is possible).

I had a similar situation with sportsbet.io (odds automatically lowered for my account, banned from some promotions) and they haven't gone backwards since  (more than 8 months).

Has anyone been in this situation and was able to recover afterwards normal betting configuration?

If my situation is never going to be reviewed, I might as well get my funds back right away.

You must be either using EV+ betting, arbitrage betting, sure bet etc. If you are somehow winning all the time, the casino may do this to "kindly" show you the door. In the end stake.com isn't the only game in town. You just move to the next one and hope for the best. I don't think they care if you withdraw your funds or not. They already made that clear by limiting your bets.  Cool Since you are (probably) not making them any money, you are just a burden which they are trying to get rid of without making a scene.
1586  Economy / Gambling / Re: I Have a Question ~ Are 1xbit Campaigners Playing on 1xbit? on: August 24, 2022, 08:12:11 PM
Probably not. They probably only care if they are getting paid or not. It is nothing new though, lots of people are getting paid to advertise something they don't really like. It is called having a "job".

I don't think anybody with a half functioning brain would play on that casino when there are numerous scam accusations against them. But somehow, some people must be playing on 1xbit. Otherwise they wouldn't be doing these aggressive ad camps everywhere.
1587  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallet FUD (nonce attacks, unofficial firmware, etc) on: August 24, 2022, 04:34:04 PM
You can use electrum or a similar open source wallet on your iphone/android device too. It is not rocket science. They are pretty safe too. (not as safe as a linux pc but i would say pretty close)

So, in your opinion, an open source wallet on iphone/android is as safe (or safer) than a hardware wallet?

Nope. In my opinion hardware wallets make no sense to use. Completely unnecessary.

If you are going to hold, use a piece of paper.

If you are going to spend, use your phone.

If you are going to trade, well the exchange does the holding for you.

There isn't any need for a hw wallet in any of these situations.
1588  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallet FUD (nonce attacks, unofficial firmware, etc) on: August 24, 2022, 06:26:13 AM
If you are going to spend/send/receive coins every once in a while, then you need a linux PC with electrum (preferred) or bitcoin core. This route is also very safe.

I never get the idea of a hardware wallet. It is a business which solves a non-existing problem.

The idea of a hardware wallet is to make it easier for non-technical people to use Bitcoin without exposing their private keys to the internet.

I have taught several friends how to use them and they learn quickly.

The same cannot be said with using Electrum or Bitcoin Core on an airgapped Linux computer. I can picture my wife's face while trying to learn this, she would be like "This is too much for me".

If a person can't figure out how to use electrum, he shouldn't be using bitcoin anyway.

Bitcoin has an intelligence barrier. It is not for the absolute stupid.

1589  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallet FUD (nonce attacks, unofficial firmware, etc) on: August 24, 2022, 05:41:50 AM
If you are going to just "hold", all you need is a piece of paper and a pen. Write down your keys/seed and here you have the most secure bitcoin wallet in the world.

-Write down your name.
+But I don't have a pen.
-That's right mother fucker, I sell pens, now buy it.

^ Pretty much how it works with HW wallets.

A sensible person would have said:

"Why the fuck would I write down my name? Fuck off!"

*Btw you need a pen to write down your private keys.
1590  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: August 23, 2022, 06:12:09 AM
I look today in the 60th round of the lottery someone was very lucky to pick up the jackpot in the amount of 1.87..BTC congratulations to the winner who had only 120 lottery tickets, the user id 1814767 turned out to be damn lucky. Smiley

That is an old round which stays there until the draw has been completed,we are now at round of more than 370 from what I remember. It stays like that until the new draw takes place and if you check after a couple of hours most likely you will find the new winners which should be ten and not just one as it is shown there.

The lottery winners are truly lucky in the true meaning of the word lucky as out of near 50 million users those ten are winners, which is a huge odd or really small percentage to be anyone of those ten winners.
I'm almost frustrated that's why I very rarely open freebitcoin sites, as long as I play I never win with a big enough prize, I'm not as lucky as people here, I know it will be very difficult

Most of the winners you see have huge bankrolls. They make huge bets and that's why they become the winners very often. You should be incredibly, incredibly lucky to win a lottery if you have a tiny bankroll. It is possible to win in theory but very very unlikely because there are hundreds of people like that holds small amounts in their accounts. Don't feel bad just because you didn't win, it is just the most sensible outcome.
1591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you play Slots? (long sessions / jumper / focussed) on: August 23, 2022, 06:02:47 AM
Small sessions with small money. Since slot games are luck based and the luck is on the casino's side, there is no need to be greedy when playing slots. From a financial point, making big bets don't make sense really. For me, it is all about passing the time and having fun. If I don't find anything else to do, I might do some longer sessions but that's pretty rare for me. I must be incredibly bored for that to happen.
1592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: List of psychological tricks that casinos use. on: August 21, 2022, 03:02:32 PM
I found this interesting read that there are  psychological tricks offline casino's use to make visitors spend more money, I have summarized the article and added the link at the end for anyone who wants to read more, Why? cos like I mentioned, it is an interesting read!

So some of these tricks are;
1. Enticing Design - You know casinos spend a whole lot to ensure that their interiors are exquisite and speak luxury, you always want to come back.
2. Lack of Clocks and Natural Light - No clock means you won't be able to know when it's time to go, the more time you spend, the money you spend.
3. Cashless Games - You buy credit for slots or chips, so you also may not be able to keep track of your money.
others according to the article are: Stimulating Lights and Sounds, Memorable Scents, Near-Misses, Familiar Concepts, a Sense of Control.
SEE ARTICLE HERE

Now I understand that Online casinos are not left out and also apply some psychological tricks on us. The aim of these topic is not to say that it is bad as all businesses have their methods to increase profits, but for us to collectively highlight some psychology that online casinos can use. I have identified some as they are similar to those the articles highlighted as it seemed to be mostly focused on offline casinos, they are;
1. Good and user friendly design.
2. Cashless games is definitely among.
3. Stimulating sounds seem to be one. (Please add to the list)

Deposit bonuses.

They credit you x2-x3 amount of what you deposited but you can’t withdraw that money. They ask you to wager the bonus plus what you deposited few times before you can withdraw your money. Obviously you’ll probably lose whatever you got in your account because it is a trick lol

When you think about it, almost any other casino promotion falls in that category. Every promo they give is there to make you deposit money and play.

The more you play, the more you lose. Casino: Profit
1593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins are Not Real — Or how People Blindly Accepted Nakamoto's Nonsense on: August 21, 2022, 01:13:38 PM
What a load of crap… Another clueless moron pictures bitcoin as a ponzi scheme. Nothing original. No matter how much you scream, people will keep using bitcoin in their daily lives and lots of people will keep making money. There is a whole new industry built on top of bitcoin. You think that’s going to vanish easily? Thousands of people study blockchain technology and this helped them to have a full time job. Bitcoin creates wealth. It doesn’t just make the holders rich, bitcoin provided jobs. Without bitcoin the economy would suffer. There would be thousands of new unemployed people. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Bitcoin is inevitable.
1594  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do we gamble or trade? on: August 21, 2022, 09:28:24 AM
There is a very thin line between gambling and trading. Most traders don’t think themselves as gamblers but they are gamblers and they don’t realize it. Just because you are a trader, it don’t mean that you should trade every day or every week. You can become a trader even if you make one trade in a year. You just have to make the right trade. The casino has a house edge and the exchanges have spreads. Both are pretty much the same thing for you. The more you trade or gamble, the more money the house/exchange makes money.

That’s a very diversified portfolio. Gaming, energy, data storage, internet things… you nearly covered all.  You probably don’t need anything else for your retirement. Now all you need to do is raising them up shares. Maybe add some bittorrent (btt) too because it is the leading piracy token. Other than that, this fund looks quite promising. You said you have no prior experience but your portfolio says the otherwise. You should post your trades here maybe some other people would want to follow your moves.
1596  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Putin cannot avoid a tribunal on: August 21, 2022, 08:06:16 AM
Crimial court in Hague pfff. Go on sentence Putin to death. Then send your officers to execute the sentence. I am sure Putin will tremble in fear and surrender. Whoever wrote this article must be a delusional tool living in a pipe dream. Criminal court in Hague lol That was a good joke.

The reality is, Putin will take whatever he wants and the west will suck it aaall up. Like they always do. The western civilization is already collapsing in EU and UK. Have you seen the gas bills lately? Germany is opening their coal plants back. Why don’t they plant more solar panels instead? D’oh
1597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CRYPTO IS NOT A GET RICH QUICK SCHEME on: August 21, 2022, 08:00:45 AM
True. Those who want to get rich quick  will get rekt very hard during the bear market. People shouldn’t think about the price too much. Bitcoin is very good for sending and receiving money. You don’t even need to invest in bitcoin to able to use it. You can still benefit from bitcoin even if you don’t hold any. People usually miss this fact because most people are in because they only care about getting rich.
1598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin becomes generally adopted, will 21million btc be enough for everyone? on: August 20, 2022, 03:18:44 PM
Do you think the world population was considered during the creation of bitcoins? Was the intention to create enough bitcoins that could serve the entire world population should it be generally adopted, since it is what we all hope for, can the 21 million bitcoins be enough for the entire world population if it is generally adopted? As at 2009 when cryptocurrency began use, the estimated world population was 6,898,305,908, Currently 2022, the estimated world population is now  7,975,105,156. That an estimated additional 1,076,799,248 persons in a space of 13 years. We know this number will not become smaller as the population will continue to increase regardless of setbacks in forms of the pandemic, war etc Will general adoption really work?

https://www.macrotrends.net/countries/WLD/world/population

You don’t have to own a whole bitcoin to be able to use it. You can own satoshis and still use bitcoin just fine. Bitcoin is highly divisible. So when the adoption grows, people will be using satoshis instead of whole coins. In fact, it is already happening. Lots of bitcoin users don’t have a bitcoin at all. Most users only own satoshis.
1599  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is no one worried about this on: August 20, 2022, 01:06:45 PM
What are we going to do about the 2 billion worth of BTC that Mt Gox plans to release very soon to the public, won't this make BTC crash heavily or the rumour is fake?.

It would make bitcoin crash.

However, why would anyone worry about it unless he'll need cash soon? If somebody is going to worry about this then it means he invested more than he could afford to lose.

Bitcoin's price has nothing to do with its functioning too. Bitcoin would function just fine even if the price was $1. Fundamentally, nothing would change if the price drops.

It is fine, really.
1600  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as my new payment method on: August 20, 2022, 07:17:58 AM
I’ve been a merchant wholesaler for the past four years now. A lot has changed in my business since I introduced Bitcoin as a means of payment. I receive money quickly, I’m able to save up by storing and holding my bitcoins and I can withdraw from my account at my convenience, no limit options. This is far beneficial to me than when I was using banks. Within the first two years Of starting my business I always go to the bank to increase my account limit and set up other necessities. Sometimes it doesn’t get effective immediately I have to wait for 48hrs or the next five working days before it works and still I do have some issues from time to time. This year I decided to start receiving  Bitcoin as a means of payment. All I did was print out my wallet address, pasted it on the wall and my customers who knew about Bitcoin already  was so delighted I introduced Bitcoin as a means of payment and for those who didn’t have an idea,I educated  them on how Bitcoin works and how it can be useful to them.. Everything has been going swiftly,I’m so glad I made this great life changing decision of making Bitcoin a payment method in my business.

You should accept a variety of altcoins too imo. Sometimes the bitcoin network gets very slow and expensive because lots of people use it and your customers might want to use the alternatives. LTC, XMR, DOGE are good solid alternatives which have been around since forever. They are not as cool as bitcoin but providing some alternatives is still a good idea. imo. Your other choice is enabling the lightning network but I don't think many people use it.
